Scratching his beard, Baolo whispers, "It ain't pleasant...but with a bit of time, I think I can get us a way to breath down there...so long as you all are alright with giving up your birth right of breathing air for a little bit." Peering down below as ropes are affixed. "Either way, we would need to be careful though...so maybe it be better to drown in the drink then have the air we been breathing all our lives cause our deaths." That said, he too begins unclasping the fasteners of his armored coat...and secured his weapons so they don't encumber him too much under the water. Then, with a final gulp form his mug, he then secures that as well, tying it to the heavy metal ring that hangs from his thick leather belt.

Baolo had kept pretty quiet look out as the others sniffed about...and at each other. He too was a believer in the divine...but he was much more the type to argue with actions rather than words. At the mention of checking out a former tavern...and enjoying a drink at a Calistrian's locale beforehand, the bearded man perks up. "Aye. I know a thing or two of taverns...and am eager to see how this particular one was involved in that terrible night," Baolo contributes as he stands, sipping at whatever heartier beverage Adonara was able to offer beyond tea. "I don't know much about buildings...but so long at the ground below was study...then I don't think we gotta worry about it giving out on us. that said...it might be a good idea to bring it along...just in case."

Baolo spends the evening writing in a book of recipes that he had pulled form his pack while those more interested in the translations hovered over the journal they had found. Indeed, the past few days stirred many ideas he had been having for some time. What if the beer his family made in secret could be imbued with some of the divine magic granted by the Drunken Hero? Then it could be levied to help the city in a way that would make his patron proud. He would need to set up a space to test some of these new recipes...but if it worked, then it could help their cause immensely. His thoughts interrupted with a rather loud "Of Course!" from the translators, he turned his attention to what they had to say.
Listening to their translation, Baolo then mutters, "Hmm, well at least we have a better idea of the start of this group we are on the verge of mimicking." Indeed, the thought excited the novice brewer, having grown up steeped in Kintargo's rebellious spirit as he was. "As tempting as it is though...I caution against taking action on this intel...as the supposed headquarters is likely heavily watched at the moment...and would be pretty much impossible to sneak into." As he finishes verbalizing his thought, his mind wanders to this Jackdaw figure to see if their is any history he could recall from the stories his mother told him of the city's own history related to Jackdaw that might not have been in the journal.

Taking more of a support role during the breakout, Boalo is quiet and surprisingly stealthy to all but Rutilus, who had seen the man surprise rowdy tavern patrons before tossing them on their rears in the past. Once back at the book store however, a friendly smile spreads on his face as he assess the prisoners for injuries.
"Well, that was well done all. If all have the stomach for it, I say this calls for a toast to our first success in this little endeavor." With that Baolo raises his mug.

The adventurous innkeep moves rather stealthily for a man of his size and weighted as he was with his armored coat. Once in position, he waits a short length of time to let the other group pull the attention of anyone in the compound and Rutilus to see what he could do with the gate. Baolo keeps his hand gripped on the pommel of his sheathed weapon, the tankard normally held in hand instead secured on a hook hanging form his belt.

"To me, the clear next step is to free those prisoners. Sure, we might lose some information should one of those places be rummaged through in the time that we are on this task. And sure, confronting guards could expose out presence. But these man'd lives at the more immediate concern. If these mercenaries were jailed...it must have been for a reason that could work to our advantage. Especially if it means we end up with grateful mercenaries for hire," Baolo adds before tipping back his mug of ale.

Currently with highest mods being in Wisdom (+3, later +4 as his Wisdom increases) follows by Strength and Con (both +2, Strength continuing to increases as stats modify) I could do some good as Sentinel as I could use Wisdom to help boost Security or Constitution to boost Loyalty as needed. My campaign trait can help supplement those checks as well. He could also be a good Strategist if people would rather focus the currently highest stats into the stat focused roles.

Had he heard the halfling right? She's willing to give them the space they need to begin to fight against the current government? Baolo had been considering offer his family's own tavern...once he had a chance to see how committed these people were to freeing Kintargo. Indeed, that would be the way to show his faith in the Drunken Hero. But this would be better...to protect his family and livelihood.
"My thanks to you Laria for putting your trust in us. We will be sure to use the space and funds you have given wisely," Baolo replies graciously. "Speaking of missions, does the Network have any leads that we could follow or work that needs done?"

Wiping the blood from his blade before sheathing it, Baolo takes a pull form his ever present mug as the details of the note are revealed before stating, "Seems this Nan fella was more keen on the coin he could make than vetting his passengers. A sad way for this all to end." Then, wiping the foam that collected o his upper lip, he adds, "Quite the set up that was down here...unless these rooms hold some other mysteries, it looks like there is only two ways in and out. I can see why the lady's been sitting on tops of this for so long."
Then, putting himself to the task of sorting out what had been ofund, he makes sure to include, "Once we are done here, guess we better tell the one waiting above what we found...I can help with wrapping and caring for the body...had enough experience hauling limp, smelly bodies about over at the Tankard."

Squeezing between Adonara and Rutilus, Baolo calls out, "You are about the find out the perils of risking yourselves on this little venture!" Reaching one of the Tengu attackers, he thrusts out with his divinely guided weapon, attempting to pierce the creature who was looking to pierce his own comrades.

Baolo was uncharacteristically quiet during the meeting at Laria's coffee house, sipping on his own, more alchoholic brew between sips of the offered coffee. That didn't mean he was in disagreement however, also agreeing that something would need to be done.
Moving with the group into the tunnels below, he takes up an alert position around the group. If Adonara alerts the group to what's she spots, he moves towards the man's body that is wedged in the piling, drawing his rapier as he keeps one eye on the swimming creatures.

Baolo grins at Lodoro's word as he wipes down his blade. "C'mon there...we all just defeated a pair of devils! That's some tale we'll be able to tell...among safe company that is." Indeed, it would make a good story once the larceny and subterfuge elements were removed to focus on the devilish creatures that rose form the hellish muck to do battle. Pondering this as he moves into the next room with the others, his eyes take in the room.

Everything happened very quickly. With the creatures rising from the muck, it was good to see that his new comrades were quick to react, when needed. Lunging at the nearest creature, Baolo tries to score a sever wound on these devilish creatures.

"Yeah, I hear it," Baolo replies to Pellius' query as he looks around, rapier still drawn and at the ready. Getting vomited on was bad enough, but he know that whatever the putrid goop in the cistern was, it was not something we wanted to wade through. Not one who focused his training in the arcane or the planar, he instead levels his senses to searching the room for threats and information.

Finding a spare bit of cloth that Baolo uses to wipe the vomit off of him, he looks to the others as a few set about stabilizing the creatures. In truth, part of him felt bad for dealing with the creatures the way he did...but the creature did projectile vomit on him after all. if he wanted to put up with that, then he would be worshiping Ol' Deadeye instead and rearing a litter of children out in some village somewhere.
Sheathing his rapier, he looks to the only obvious way to go besides the way they came as he says, "Any chance that the next room is a bar or the like. Could use a drink after all that. Unless the bar has more of those creatures hiding in wait."
Male Human Cleric (Hidden Priest) / 3 | AC 16 T 11 F 15 | HP 26/26 | F +5 R +2 W +6| | Channel Energy: 4/4 | Agile Feet 6/6 | Init +2
Drenched in the vomit, a grimace crosses Baolo's face as he stomachs the gross assault. Careful to not get any of the filth in his mouth, he retorts, "Aye, gross stuff...but not as bad as Ol' Jasren after he's had one too many cups. Really, I don't know why we keep letting that old drunk back." He says this as he advances on the strange creature, the courage granted by Kira's blessing from her goddess helping his aim as he thrusts out with the long, slim blade.

Still unsure what these creatures are capable of, Baolo puts his guard up, using his blade and buckler to protect the most vulnerable spots on his body. Advancing as he does this, he calls out, "We don't want trouble...we are on the look out of something that might be here. Let us take a look around and I can gift you with something spectacular."

Baolo moves warily, but with a determined attitude as the group advanced. On edge with the sight of the bloody walls, he follows Adonara's suggestion to continue on and attempted to quickly digest the information that comes with the strange opossum creature squeaking and moving into the next room. "Dunno what that creature was, but if he has friends, we should be careful of an ambush or the like. Seen plenty of bug guys taken down by sheer numbers...and until we know how many of those creatures might be around, best to be careful." With that, Baolo advances cautiously after the creature.

Moving with the others, Baolo adds, "Some light would probably be good. Unlike Rutilus and the elf there...I am sure the rest of us would function much better with a tad more light."
Should Pellius send the light down, Baolo will stand closer to the front of the group that descends after it.

Moving further in to the main stable area, Baolo is tempted to explore the rest of the adjoining rooms outside of what lies beyond the gate, but decides it is better to no draw too closely to where the dogs ate. So instead, he turns his attention to the to old gate as well and comments, "So, anyone here know how to spot anything mechanical like that might surprise us? If this use to be a hideout, I imagine some traps of that type might still be about." Baolo is willing to test the door, but only once he knew that surprises were only on the other side and not around the door itself.

Baolo takes up a position somewhere in the middle of the group, so that he can rush to the front, or back, as needed. Weapon still drawn, but not at the ready, he waits to see what those more perceptive discover as he take another draw form his clay mug. Hearing about rate like creatures however, he begins to look about. "Well, let's hope they are as harmless as the dogs currently are," he says quite non-enthusiastically. Indeed, this was a slow start to their efforts to topple the government. Granted, they turned back a few Thrune loyalists, but now they were faced with dogs and rats, nothing very heroic about facing these types of critters.

Baolo waited warily, yet patiently as the bread was split and tossed to the dogs. Here is hoping the gnome's silver tongue and the small snack will be enough, the human thinks as he stands there tensely.

Refreshed, Baolo does his best to keep alert as the group enter the livery. Upon hearing the growls of feral dogs, he slips his slim blade from its sheathe and in some comforting surprise, hears the gnome issue a serious of yips and barks. He had heard of how gnomes could speak with creatures of the natural world...but whether that was true, or that this gnome was just a little crazed, is still uncertain. Regardless, the hound was a sacred animal to him and he would prefer to not have to injure these beasts, even if they are feral. So he just waits, but prepares to react if Kira's ploy doesn't work.
Male Human Cleric (Hidden Priest) / 3 | AC 16 T 11 F 15 | HP 26/26 | F +5 R +2 W +6| | Channel Energy: 4/4 | Agile Feet 6/6 | Init +2
Baolo didn't like the uncertain tone he was hearing from those gathered around them. Certainly the insane proclamations and the willingness that Thrune had for using violence to dissuade riled Baolo's stomach, shouldn't it rile theirs as well. Though part of him agreed that caution was needed, the tenets of the Drunken Hero outline clearly what his path would be. So, with a determined brewer adds, "I know we have not had much time for introductions. I am Baolo and I am tired of seeing a Thrune's face hanging from the windows of my family's tavern. Thiis Thrune has made his intent clear to me. So no matter what we find, and though I understand the concern some of you feel, this simple brewer is committed to fighting what is to come."

Baolo was not one to turn down coin in that amount. Indeed, that was more coin that he sees the Tankard bringing in even on good nights. However, the brewer is a little concerned by how freely this Rexus fellow threw about his coin...and what the man would ask in return. Not one who follows the affairs of nobility, merchants, and academics, Rexus' last name doesn't sound familiar to the priest from the streets. So he simply takes a swig from his mug as the man's next words don't quite put Baolo at ease, but he is glad that hear that this is a man who is also tired of the current state of Kintargo.
The fact that Kintargo is now probably on a hair's edge...where the populace could just as likely be beat back into submission than it could be fired up further against the current government, only fuels Baolo's desire to take action. He would need to be careful, for agreeing to whatever this man proposes could put what was left of his family, and his current livelihood, at risk if his role in what might come is discovered. However, as the lessons form his patron show, Free the oppressed, celebrate, then repeat. If he was careful, he might be able to live out that cycle...and under Barzillai Thrune, Kintargo is an oppressed in need of freeing.
So, with a grin that Rutilus would recognize as a sign that Baolo was ready to start some trouble, the broad shouldered brewer replies, "Sure. What do ya have in mind?"

"Well, from the looks of it, you might want to reconsider these types of jobs in the future...didn't work out for you too well this time," Baolo retorts as he gathered up what gear he could and followed after the others of his new retinue.

Rapier still at the ready but weapon lowered, Baolo looks to the sole standing Brigade thug and warns, "Don't you move there. Try to flee and I will chase you down. I'm keep an eye on you while some of my new friends here see what they can do to help stop YOUR friends from bleeding out. Then, you can feel free to haul your gents away AFTER we've left with the poor soul you decided to bully." Keeping the serious expression on his face, Baolo adds, "Now's a good time to explain why you think attacking your fellow Kintargan puts you on the right side of anything. Are you with this group because what you think you are doing is right...or because you just like doling out a bit of hurting on some poor bloke?"
Baolo will not attack, instead trying a bit of reasoning. However, he had readied an action to charge the thug if he tries to flee.

Now within range of the thug, and feeling the magic of Pellius' song lifting his spirits, Baolo grins as he thrusts out with his rapier. Indeed, the brewer intended to show the Cherish boot licked the same mercy that they were planning for the bearded man laying on the ground not far from them.

However if the group/DM would prefer I dial it back to only applying in combat situations, that's not a problem. Just wanted to explain my reasoning for why she's still speaking in Infernal right now.
I have no problem with you RPing the curse out-of-combat, it just means that Baolo will need an interpreter to follow anything you say. At least until he can spare the skill point needed to pick up Infernal. :P

That old adage of not running while wielding sharp implements was lost on the young bartender, enveloped as he was in the exhilaration of the last few minutes. So blade stil in hand, he made off through the alleys, able to keep up easilt with those who wore lighter armor than he. Today was the first time he had been able to show his discontent at the current situation in Kintargo and the fact that he had made it out alive only fueled the man on. He would continue to protest the government...he would need to be wise about it however, do it secretly so as to protect his family and the patrons of the Plentiful Tankard.

Looking at the conversation happening as one who only understands half of the conversation, Baolo raises an eyebrow as he sees the short one head towards the dottari line advancing on them. Though curious to see what the brave gnome would do, he didn't think it smart to stick around and see. Looking towards Rutilus, he makes a gesture of his head letting him know that he was heading to the west. Then, rapier still in hand, spins around the half-elf and breaks into a run, heading out of the park in a westerly direction.

Not understanding anything being spoken by those using Infernal, Baolo frowns as he focused his attention on the only enemy he could sort of make out. Moving around from behind the bard, Baolo calls out, "You really shouldn't have gotten out of bed today!" Jabbing out with his rapier, he attempts to end this melee so they could focus on getting the rest of the crowd to disperse safely.

With a nod and a grin as he spots the elf moving into position, Baolo calls out to Lodoro, "These Thrune thralls have made there intentions know and will feel out intentions because of it! Challenge a Kintagan and get challenged in kind!" He follows this with another thrust with his rapier at the man between Baolo and Adonara.

The melee was turning more chaotic than Baolo had expected as the thug's weapon rebounds from the magical protection surrounding him and the gnome yells something in some language that the brewer didn't understand before a hazy mist settles around her. Indeed, the man who had just attacked him was now difficult to track in the haze. So the Baolo takes a step back and spins around to target the Chelish Citizen's Group member attacking Lodoro as he calls out, "You see a group of people expressing their frustration and you think it civil to attack them! Let me show you your error!"
We gotta keep their focus on us. More time for the rest of the crowd to get away, Baolo thinks as he jabs out with his blade, attempting to injure the man.

Baolo's jaw tightens as he looks from Thrune down to the supporters who were itching for a fight. Though his body tensed up as the park burst into chaos, his teachings and the inspiring magic infused in the song he heard, took over. Indeed, the only difference between this and any brawl at the Tankard is that the men he was about to fight seemed to be out for blood. Seeing a few in his immediate vicinity, he thinks, Time to show these boot-lickers what the Drunken Hero teaches. Switching his clay mug from right to left, he seems to mix a few ingredients in and mumble off some sort of formula before tossing back the concoction. To those with no skill at identifying spells, nothing seems to happen, though Baolo confidently levels his gaze at the nearest of Thrune's thugs. Drawing his rapier, the man smiles as he calls out, "Come to seek Chelish justice, eh? Let's see how that stacks up to the justice of Kintargo!"

Baolo began to doubt if Thrune would ever reveal himself as the second hour of the protest begins to draw to a close. Seeing the target of this protest show himself, the local brewer falls silent as he listens intently. Indeed, Baolo hopes that man would appease the crowd, only to grow stern as Barzillai issues another proclamation. This newest edict would hinder trade and taverns would suffer as those ships that still trade will not stick around long enough for its crew to unwind before setting sail once more. As the crowd vocalizes its discontent, Baolo adds a half-hearted boo as he gazed about the park.
The growing hostility in the crowd doesn't go unnoticed to the tavern worker as his eyes continue to look around over the lip of his mug, hoping to identify any possible hostility against those who are protesting peacefully. His hand discreetly untying the peace knot keeping his weapon bound in its sheathe, Baolo hoped what is to come would not result in violence...but he would be ready to face it if it did.

Smirking as the protest picks up, he takes another drink from his tankard. Eyeing his tankard when he sees it running low, Baolo pours some ingredients and whispers a formula to refill his mug with ale, seemingly by magic. Then, topped off, Baolo moves away from those gathered around the opera singer to a different part of the group. There, now among those a bit more tame, he began murmuring, "You know about the dottari raid on that herb shop in Redroof? I hear they burned the owner's stock and hauled him away just for selling a sprig of mint."
Baolo continues to pass around small fibs and over-exaggerations of things the dottari did on Thrune's order as he moved about the crowd.

Rowdiest tavern one will probably find in the city and only those closest to the Halden's may know the true story behind the lone silver tankard that graces the highest point of the wall behind the bar. As a street urchin, Rutilus basically lives in the slummier part of the city. Its possible he may have been found in or around the Tankard, possibly lifting some things from some inebriated customers. He may recognize you as an employee. Maybe they have an arrangement? I am sure that they would have worked something out. There are likely more than a few less than savory people that visit the Plentiful Tankard. And indeed, anyone who over indulges in the available drink or doesn't behave themselves would be fair game for sticky fingers. Baolo's only ask would be that Rutilus keep his attention on such types and avoid the honest and hard-working regulars that frequent the joint.
