Humble Bundle backers get a code for each tier, but not individual products, and can give them away.

I haven't done a Humble Bundle before, where do these products show up?

When you back it, Humble BUndle give you a code for each level that your contribution covers. You input those codes on the paizo.com store. The digital assets are added to your library as if you'd bought them on paizo.com.

Awesome! I was worried they wouldn't be in the same place; that makes the bundle even more attractive.

As someone just starting to get into PF, this is absolutely perfect timing for such an awesome bundle.

Great idea! I was at best mildly curious about the AP before - mostly because the setting is a bit far from my usual interests - but at that price I couldn't resist. After a read of the summary inside the first book, I have zero regrets ^^

I hope this will be as popular with new players as I expect!

Thanks for pointing out this option. I don't see the Troops cause in the selection, though. Does the Comic Books for Kids charity automatically hand over some money to its sibling cause?

Humble Bundle taking 40% by default and 30% as minimum (that's appareantly a recent change) is quite steep. I mean, Kickstarter wants something like 5% to 10%, even Steam (with all its technical support for game devs) requires only 30% from devs.

Either way, I will buy this one also. A pseudo-African setting is hard to relate to for me, but let's give it a chance. Looking forward to the one-shots and flip-mats for sure...

Wish I had seen the "no physical reward tier" before buying it.

You can contact ninjas to upgrade your tier if you haven't claimed your keys yet ( probably a refund followed by a new purchase).

While I understand the value of PDFs of books (and Strength of Thousands is one of Paizo's best APs period) I'm genuinely unclear what one does with a PDF of a flip mat or a GM screen.

The flip mat can be used to make images for a VTT. The reference notes on the inside of a GM screen work just the same on a computer, especially with a second monitor.

I agree with keftiu.

Either DM screen and flip mat would keep some utility ( thought the former is already replicated on vtt, resulting into a matter of preferences ).

I display PDFs of flip-mats on the TV I have placed on my table when running games.

While I no longer use it now, I have a GM screen that is basically just blank sleeves into which I can place anything I want, either custom tables or a print of an official screen.

I have the books in print - but subscriptions have become unfeasible it is a nice way to get the PDFs. I think this one that is supported by the PDF to VTT (foundry) module…

The only complaint I have about these Humble Bundles is that the codes are tiered, and not for individual products. Don't get me wrong, I love that they include the Core Rulebook and other common core books. But when you're getting the bundles each time, it becomes the matter of "I've now gotten a pdf copy of the CRB for the 4th time now. Why can't I send that copy to a friend as a gift?"

2 people marked this as a favorite.

I'm glad the GM screen came as a PDF. I can't read physical print material and given that a GM screen is just a collection of notes it's not something I'd have gotten otherwise in all likelyhood. Now I'll be able to use it for upcoming games which I'm hoping will speed up play when I run Blood Lords.

... Or maybe Strength of Thousands. It was the fiercest contender along Blood Lords, and this bundle can give me the whole thing.

If I recall correctly Comicbooks for Kids and Troops are the same organization that has two separate programs. It started with the kids, but some comicbooks that are donated to them are inappropriate for kids, and those go to the troops. It all goes to the same fund, I think.

Would Paizo ever consider doing a Humble Bundle of physical books? My eyes aren't the greatest and I get a headache if I look at a PDF for more than a couple of minutes.

They have included the Core Rulebook in previous bundles, but as far as I know that's the only one. Maybe the Beginner Box, too. Or was that Starfinder?

Scarab Sages

They've included the physical 2E Beginner's Box before.

I believe they have included Core Rulebook, and I'm thinking one might have included the first Bestiary at one point. Also as already mentioned they have done the Beginner Box. They have also done a couple Starfinder physical rewards, including their Beginner Box, as well as Pact Worlds, and seems like something else but I can't recall for sure.

However, they have been at a top tier reward, and just one physical book for that particular humble-bundle. So I doubt they would do a whole physical library. That isn't really Humble-bundle's bread and bundle they do digital content, but sometimes throw in something Physical on the top tier (books, comics, miniatures) to encourage someone to pick the topmost tier set.

If you keep your eyes peeled, they may choose to do another physical reward again in the future. However it may be something you already have one of though, as I think the pick things that they think are likely to be helpful for bringing in the players.

It wouldn't have to be a rulebook. I get all of those. A whole AP would be nice, for example, like in this bundle, only physical books, and maybe maps and pawns.

Most of our Bundles include a singular physical product. Examples include the Core Rulebook or Beginner Box for both Pathfinder and Starfinder. We chose not to have a physical product this time because of Kingmaker shipping.

But all physical books? Or even multiple books? No. As I understand, Humble Bundle allows us to do this as a special exception. Most partners are not allowed to as their model is to provide digital content. And bluntly, we would have to charge a lot more for a physical bundle.

It is going really well however!

I got caught in a Humble Bundle trap um, undisclosed, post-payment requirement. I tried to pick up this bundle, Humble Bundle charged my credit card, then they sent me their ransom update request:

Humble Bundle email wrote:

Verify Phone Number

We need to verify your phone number to protect your payment account. We will run a pre-approval for the purchase, but we will not finalize the payment until your order for Humble RPG bundle: Pathfinder Second Edition Strength of Thousands by Paizo is available for download.

They did not send me the keys for the PDFs they charged me for. Yes, Humble Bundle had no problem charging my credit card. I checked. They are phishing asking for my phone number. It’s not needed. I’ve sent in a support request into Humble Bundle. No reply yet, but it's only been a few hours - I'm not knocking them for that yet.

YMMV

That sounds like an authorization attempt rather than an actual charge.

That said I don’t ever recall HB asking for my phone number *scratches head*

Never had my phone number requested... Verified through my email. Maybe it depends what method you signed in with?

I’ve had it ask me before to verify with a phone number. As I recall they send you a code and confirm. I’m not sure why the do it on some and not all. This time it did not do it for me. But it seems like recently it did more often than not.

I got the impression it was to avoid fraudulent use of card numbers. Since it is eDelivery I think it might be a target of such use. I thought it might have been tied to when doing a bundle as a gift. But that hasn’t been proved true.

Me neither.

Maybe is some sort of new account protection? I use the mail verification.

Update Humble Bundle has canceled my order. No bundle for me. They have not replied to my customer service request but they have refunded my credit card. Still sad.

Anyone else experiencing login loop issues for Humble Bundle?

Update: Humble Bundle, after several back and forth emails, acknowledge that their system messed up in flagging my transaction and stopping my purchase. Unfortunately, they can not reinstate the purchase and donation. So still, no Strength of Thousands bundle for me.

My advice is get a big e-reader. good for the eyes, cheap and saves a lot of space...
