I'm here, just waiting for someone else to do stuff because I've been doing a 10 minute activity.

If you take the two remaining Healing Potions, who takes them? And if Graham imbibed one, what was the outcome?

I will add the silver coins to your loot tracker unless there is an objection.

I am a little worried about Alvis absence. He hasn't posted here since 11/12 it seems. Have you heard from him?

My deepest apology to everyone for my absence. I got hit with a major computer virus and after too much time trying to remove it; I finally got less dumb and did a full computer wipe and windows reload. I'll continue to rebuild my system and will look into having alternative ways to post on this site for the future. I don't do mobile phones so, sorry. Thank you for your patience.

Ouch, that sucks. Just running through in my head what that would cost me in terms of time and potentially lost data.

The best time to back up your data was last Sunday. Second best time is right now.

Also, good luck, Alvis!

What a pain, but I am mostly glad you are still here! Let us know if you need to be checked out to get systems running again

Thank you for the good wishes, slow but steady progress.
I seem to have messed up my token somehow, just move me to the right, please.

I didn't know we were keeping track of ammunition. I will add bolts to my sheet.

I don't know if the date of the campaign opening was ever given, but let's assume that the date on the charter is the current day in the month of Calistral.

This is nearing the end of Chapter 1: A Call for Heroes and soon to be entering Chapter 2: Into the Wild.

I added the healing potions to the Loot Tracker, but again, you will have to tell who takes them into inventory if you want to use them in combat situations. Things on the Loot page are not held by anyone for purposes of combat rounds.

The coins in the purse given by Lady Jamandi equal 50gp, which I added to you cash tracker. If you want to buy supplies etc or deal with the loot you already have, we can play that out before you set out for the Greenbelt.

I'm seeing a total of six unassigned healing potions. I propose 1 for each PC and then the sixth to Selina.

Graham Snodgrass wrote:

I will split the potions up this way, but you have time to reconsider, just make sure you do so before combat rounds break out. The rest of the items in the loot pile are treated similarly -- can only use for Combat if they are assigned from the pile.

You may still want to spend some time in Restov preparing for the trip to the Greenbelt. That's fine, get yourselves ready as you see fit, but in any event, you may need to refresh yourselves with the rules for Hexploration which will make up a significant chunk of time in Chapter 2.

Your groups existing movement speed is 25' so you can achieve 1 hexploration activity (Travel and Reconnoiter being more used) per day. Note that if speeds vary, you can split the group up to take advantage of more hexploration activity points as you see fit.

I will posting the hex map of the Stolen Lands as soon as reasonably possible, but much of that will be blank to you for now.

I made an alternative inventory sheet where we can 'call dibs' on individual items. All in one table. Or mark them for sale if we think nobody can make use of said item.

You can just ignore the PCs table for now. Unless you want to fill it out individually.

Here's the link

I am happy to switch to this if you add a place to track gold etc

I've updated the loot tracker. I've used your own for the base, so I assume it will be sufficient. I am also planning on adding a calendar, so what is the current ingame date, exactly?

not sure prior GM ever set one. The base date on the charter is 21 Calistral. Let's use that. That would be equivalent to 21 February on the Julian calendar.

Thanks for your work on this. I will take down the link to my file.

If you are really fancy, you might want to add a place for NPCs or Quest Tracker. The story can get complicated from here out as its very sandbox style.

Versatile Human Fortune-Teller Bard | HP 24 | AC 18 | F4; R7; W7 | Perc +7 | Speed: 25 ft | Bard DC 18 | Exploration: Search | ◆ ◇ ↶

I can do that. What notes do you as a GM need on those?

Also I looked at the first post again, and the date was Calistril 24th.

So if the charters were signed on 21st and the feast happened on 24th, that's how we have it marked in the calendar.

I would also recommend using this macro sheet to simplify the initiative and knowledge rolls for yourself.

You may simply use this one, it's an unused copy I just made. If you want to, that is.

DM, Graham cast Read Aura on the gear found: any of the treasure found magical?

My fault for missing it. I will post an update in the Gameplay for that.

Male AC 19 | 21, Fort +9, Ref +4, Will +9 HP 32/32 Perception +7 Cleric (WP) 2/Speed 15 feet

Sorry Alvis only has Detect Magic prepared; by sorting the items out he knows which ones are magic but that is all. He could swap it tomorrow.

Alvis has a healing kit and a bedroll but no tents or torches.

15 cp or 1.5 silver for 5 standard meals magicked to fine.

Take whatever seems useful and keep a small reserve. My profile shows what I have.

Identifying Magic items is a skill check based on your magical tradition. You can certainly try to identify them with Arcana, Religion etc.

As for the gear you want to buy, I know you are sorting it out. Feel free to do that in the discussion tab if you want but let me know when you have settled on a list and total amount.

If you want to let me know what's agreed on for now, we can start deducting from the pool. You can also sell/trade some of the items in your inventory, should you want to raise funds.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I have added a shopping list tab to the document in the header. If anyone wants to suggest anything else, feel free to do so.

We also have some seemingly useless expensive trinkets from the manor we can sell to cover the planned purchases. AND, if we have extra, we can bring supplies to the trading post to sell.

Teela: Occultism +4

Tessa also has Nature which is the best at determining primal magic. I don't want to do a post after a post and the checks should be secret anyway so if you would not mind would our illustrious DM make the identify magic checks on the known magic items? Thanks.

I posted the results in Gameplay. To use things like the Tracker's Goggles, they must be assigned to an individual rather than kept in the community pile. Recall that you can sell gear, including magical items for half their listed value, but you can sell art items, jewelry and gems for the full value.

Is this the list for now then? If so, someone needs to sign off on it, and then tell me how you plan to fund it. I would probably role play that at tabletop, but we can handwave most of the transactional stuff in Restov due to format.

It seems we need 66.36 GP to top up on supplies for 3 weeks. That includes tents. Everyone has some rations, rope, flint and steel, soap, and CHALK. We have so much chalk we can open up a school.

The whole list looks like this:

Tent (4 person) 2x (for sleeping)
Tent (Pup) 2x (for gear, feed, etc)
Clothing (Winter) 4x (Alvis already purchased one for himself)
Rations (1 week) 5x (everybody has their own food for at least 2 weeks)
Riding animals 5x + Tack 5x + Saddlebags 5x
Feed (1 week) 15x (to feed animals, duh)
Compass 1x
Tool (Axe) 1x (making firewood)
Tool (Shovel) 1x (digging graves)
Crowbar 1x (to prevent alien invasions)
Oil 1x (uhm... lube?)
Mirror 1x (i think this is intended as a vanity set, but also to look around corners if handheld)
Signal Whistle 5x (a great item. unironically very worth if someone gets lost is in trouble)
Net 1x (hang your gear from a tree so that animals can't reach it)
Marbles 1x (torture device. we have oil, so we might as well)
Climber Kit 1x (rope, hammer, 12 pitons. maybe we could get more of these if we have extra money. they're pretty cheap)
Repair Kit 1x (we have people with shields. will be necessary)

If we want to boil stuff (purify water, make tea, coffee, soup, etc) we can also get cookware for 1 gp.

Since we will be travelling alongside a river for a while, we could also consider a fishing kit for 0.8 gp.

Those would bring the total to 68.16 gp.

If you guys want to add a spyglass and some antivenom/antiplague on top of it, those are pretty hefty costs, but if we sell some of the magic stuff we can manage.

Let me know your thoughts.

Edit:

Climbing kit costs 5 sp and contains:

This satchel includes 50 feet of rope, pulleys, a dozen pitons, a hammer, a grappling hook, and one set of crampons. Climbing kits allow you to attach yourself to the wall you're Climbing, moving half as quickly as usual (minimum 5 feet) but letting you attempt a DC 5 flat check whenever you critically fail to prevent a fall. A single kit has only enough materials for one climber; each climber needs their own kit. If you wear your climbing kit, you can access it as part of a Climb action.

Individually, rope also costs 5 sp, so there's value there.

Let me know which items you want to sell to raise funds. Perhaps you can do that will still finalizing your list of purchases.

I feel things are stalling at this point. I need someone to:

a) confirm Teela's shopping list or add/subtract from it
b) describe the items you will sell to buy those items
c) decide what you do next

I am fine proceeding with action, overland travel or whatever you wish to complete in Restov before you depart, but someone will have to give direction as to what that next step is.

Half-Elf Ftr2 | HP: 30/30 | AC: 19 | Fort: +7, Refl: +9, Will: +4 | Perc (E): +6 (low-light vision) | Speed 25 | Default exploration: Search | Focus points: -- | Hero Points: 0/3 | Conditions: . |

Discussion off-site has been that we will sell all non-magical and non-potion items to fund our initial foray. Consider this confirmation.

I updated the cash pile with the proceeds of the sale of the non-magical items as you state above. The total was 84gp -- you get full value for the gems and jewelry, but the armor and weapons sell for 50% of purchase price. I put that 84hp in community chest assuming you will use it for purchases.

Do you also agree to buy the equipment marked in Green on the Shopping List tab>? That totals 70.76 it seems, so you will still have proceeds left if you wish.

Someone just confirm. You can always return to Restov, or buy more at other points of civilization in the Stolen Lands, like Oleg's (maybe).

Also confirming the shopping list of purchases.

the full list is here, with 68.16 gp being the total price including cookware and the fishing set.

But I don't mind paying 70.76 for things like vendor margins and delivery and that kind of stuff.

So yeah, all good.

I was working off the shopping list tab on the Loot Tracker which includes many of the same things plus more. The total of the BUY items is 71.76 now, so it must include some things not on yoru post.

Will you, as quartermaster, verify that list on the tracker tab has what you want? We will also have to think about who carries certain things. Most don't matter, but in-combat rounds items must have an identified carrying member, or they can't be used.

Hey everyone! Just a quick note. With the solstice tonight, I have officially kicked off the holiday season. I may be posting at a slower rate than usual, but I am still here. Whatever it is you celebrate, I hope and wish you have a good one.

Thanks for the heads up. I will be home until Christmas Eve and then away the rest of that week, so will likely have radio silence until 12/28 or so.

Hope you have a wonderful holiday season and look forward to continuing adventures together.

So essentially, there seems to be 5 activities to do in exploration.

Travel - progressing towards an adjacent hex, taking up to three daily activities depending on the terrain.

Reconnoiter - spend time surveying and exploring a specific area, getting the lay of the land and looking for unusual features and specific sites. Performing this activity on any hex uses the same amount of actions it takes to travel the hex in question.

Individual activities:

Fortify Camp - craft check. +2 circumstance bonus to initiative rolls and Perception checks to Seek creatures attempting to sneak up on the camp.

Map Area - survival check - create an accurate map of a successfully reconnoitered hex.

Subsist - survival check - provide food and shelter for yourself and another with a good roll.

Teela can't do any of the individual ones, but if we have 3 actions per day, we can travel through and recon 3 hexes per 2 days if we don't want to make actual maps of the area. Depending on terrain.

If we're in a hurry, we could also just move through 3 hexes per day. Again, depending on terrain.

Half-Elf Ftr2 | HP: 30/30 | AC: 19 | Fort: +7, Refl: +9, Will: +4 | Perc (E): +6 (low-light vision) | Speed 25 | Default exploration: Search | Focus points: -- | Hero Points: 0/3 | Conditions: . |

Similarly, we have family in (including our youngest, who lives the furthest away), so I'll be spotty at best through the 27th or so.

As for travel, I'm thinking we head to the trading post with all due haste since we already know they are facing bandit troubles.

Male AC 19 | 21, Fort +9, Ref +4, Will +9 HP 32/32 Perception +7 Cleric (WP) 2/Speed 15 feet

I think we should go as quick as possible. We do not know how bad the bandit situation is. If we need to, we can check out any rushed hexes later. I would be a bit nicer if we could get a roof over our heads at least. Shouldn't cost much, a silver or two should do for all of us, we will be crowded though most like.

Just to be clear, with the riding horse (base speed 40') you can do two Hexploration Activities per day, not three (unless I am missing something). So you could travel and reconnoiter, or travel x2. One of the things I did not mention, is that traveling along a road which can reduce the terrain cost by one for Travel action, but has no effect in plains/grasslands like you are traveling in now.
