With regards to Discord, if someone wants to setup a dedicated server for this -- go for it. I am an admin on a couple of multi-purpose PF discord servers and can quickly set up a channel for us on one of them if you like.
Do you have a preference GM?
Discord is my personal preference, but I will defer.
Side note, if we are to use discord, I would prefer a dedicated server to be made. I'm not a fan of servers with a large communities They tend to get spammy.
But we really should make something like that happen. For example to make a monicker. Not to mention city names and government type later on. Those will probably require a lot of back and forth discussion.

Hello, everyone! This message is being posted in all my tables.
Friendly reminder that I will take two weeks off soon. I will be away from July 3rd up to July 18th, and I am unsure of my ability to make posts within that period. I will try, but no promises.
However, even if I can get online, I will probably put the tables I GM on hold, save for possible short posts. Thanks for understanding.
I will try to include a bot-me section in my PC profiles just in case.

Quintessa Orlovsky |

Okay, I went ahead and set one up. It just has a single OOC chat channel in it for now, we can add some more later.
Discord server is HERE.

Quintessa Orlovsky |

We're entering high vacation season! I too will be taking some leave in July. I'll be headed to a beach 7/6 - 7/13 and preparing for an event 7/29-8/3. I will still try to get some posts in, but my check-ins will be far more infrequent.

Tееla |

I reckon it will MOSTLY be used for decisions that need to be made faster than usual. Like the aforementioned stuff like names, charter type, government type, etc.
With some small talk and memes, perhaps.

Here is a character macro template (view only). If you want to use it, make a copy.
Re: Holiday time. I too will be on vacation starting tomorrow afternoon through July 8th. I should have time to post at least once a day as a player most days except maybe the 29th, the 3rd, and the 7th.

Quintessa Orlovsky |

I forgot to put ranks in Beef Jerky Lore!
On that note, I finished tweaking Tessa's character sheet and she's ready for primetime. I did drop heal, but I think we'll be okay. If not, I can always adjust later.
Initially, I had Tessa as a +3 Dex character because who doesn't love AC? But as I started thinking about her character a bit, I felt like she would likely be schooled in more things, and I needed to bring her INT up some. Hopefully, you can all protect your squishy Lady alllll the way in the back :)
Since we're doing free archetypes at level two, has anyone given any thoughts on the direction they're going to move in?

Tееla |

I mean if we're using GM Core and Player Core 1 only, it's just ranger or rogue as options for me. So rogue, which is kind of fitting.

Quintessa Orlovsky |

Hmmm. I guess this is a good point. I thought he said he was restricting classes to those books, not that all the other content was restricted.
@GM - Are we free to use any Paizo-published 2E archetype, or must they occur in those two books?

Thark the Blessed |

Just FYI, I am on a dreaded family vacation through 7/4. I may be slow to post or react, but will try to catch up with the thread every day, usually after hours Pacific Time.

While we're on the topic of rules, I would like to raise a question:
Secret rolls (like the recently asked for recall knowledge check)
Do we do them? Do you want to do them?
I'm fine either way. Just want to know how do you prefer things, GM.

PF2E_Kingmaker_GM |

Welcome back! When you have a moment, can you weigh in on whether we can use archetypes from any published paizo 2e content or are you restricting the archetypes to specific books?
TBH, I am not familiar with all of them so will play it by ear. If there's one that you are interested in, let me know so I can give you my opinion. I am pretty open unless it is super OP.

I like player involvement, so unless it is something critical, will have the players roll checks even if they're supposed to be secret in game.

Ok, need some input from the players. The next scene in the AP is the 2 hour feast, which is broken down in six 20-minute intervals, where you can mingle and schmooze with the other adventurers (rolling skill checks every 20 minutes), most of which you will run into later in the AP. The purpose is to get each NPC's favor (improving attitude) for their attitude toward you later in the game. I imagine this is a cool rp-ing scene in an in-person game, but I am concerned it may seem artificial in a PbP, since as a GM, I am not going to write a novel for each interaction. I was just wondering if you will accept a summary of the interaction after the rolls? If you roll low, then you said something that offended the person or some other justification. Is that ok? I will set the scene and all of the NPCs later tonight.

This is 100% fair and workable. I'm not a min/max player, and I'm not looking to break the system; I simply like having my options available to me. I'm showing ~140 dedication feats available for perusal (I don't qualify for all of them), and I simply wanted to know what my options were. When I think I know where I'm going to go (I don't yet), I'll bring it up here for you to review first. Thanks for being flexible.

I just ran this scene for my live group about six weeks ago, and it was super fun. It also took us hours to complete in real-time, so you are not wrong to think that it would take a fair bit of time with all the possible discoveries and influences for each NPCs and the associated outcomes for each.
To clarify your intended approach here, are you thinking of skipping the rules for influencing and making a single roll per player per NPC? Or are you suggesting we keep the influence rules (affording a discovery/influence per round), but you are only going to write a single narrative response per round rather than an individual back-and-forth with each PC?

I won't give my input on this, as I am leaving in two days and probably won't be able to participate much.

I dabble with 3D art as a hobby and always create and render my characters in the games I play. I'm a visual person and it really helps me flush out things about their personality that I might not have previously considered.
I have finished Quintessa, dressed to the nines for the call for heroes in the fancy dress Teela helped modify. Her picture is Quintessa.
I also worked with NotEspi to create Teela as well. Here is Teela.
I also want to create the rest of the party, so you will likely get a PM from me about this!

Love the art, Quintessa! With regard to your question, we will rp the summary of each 20-minute session based on what your skill roll. Obviously, the more you rp in your post with the npc, you will get additional bonuses to the roll.

Quintessa Orlovsky |

Thank you. Working on Thark next and then will get to Fenric and Selina when I get some feedback from them (hopefully). :)
I'm leaving for a beach vacation tomorrow and I'll be gone for a week. I intend to get a post in each day. If you're waiting on me, ping me on discord and I'll get a response in.
Speaking of, Fenric, Teela and I are in the discord channel. We are still waiting on the GM, Selina and Thark to pop in! Come along, Teela will get you a cookie.
The old invite probably expires, HERE IS A NEW ONE.

Thark the Blessed |

Have a good trip Quintessa. I am back from San Diego but have a minor procedure scheduled Monday AM and may be out of it for a few days. Your patience as I recover, or if I post something while totally stoned on pain meds.
Happy 4th for those who celebrate!

PF2E_Kingmaker_GM |

Round 1 of social interaction has concluded. You can continue chatting with same person, someone new, or you can decide that you have had enough social mingling for the next 20 minutes. I leave that decision in your hands.

What is the meta objective? To get an NPC helpful to someone or to get an NPC helpful to multiple PCs? I.e., Is there any point to anyone working on Maegar anymore?
Maybe we should double up on some of these tougher ones.
…and I don’t know if it’s worth it to try to fix the gnome.

To establish your future relationships with these NPCs whom you will meet further along in the AP. After all, you will eventually establish a new nation, so you want to have potential friends and allies. Also, if you get super high influence with some of the NPCs, they will give you gifts, so you can socialize with them for selfish reasons too. LOL. Each interaction is particular to that PC and NPC. Like in the business world, in the future, if you need to negotiate with Maegar, for example, he may say "I only deal with Quintessa because that is whom I trust". So up to you if you continue schmoozing with the NPCs. You can stop at any time and we can move on with the rest of the AP.

PF2E_Kingmaker_GM |

If you feel the socializing is progressing too slowly, you can make 4 rolls and the NPC and I can give you a summary of the rest of the feast instead of doing one by one. Up to you all, let me know what you prefer.

![]() |

I'm good with what we've been doing. I just needed some guidance on how to approach it tactically.
That does suggest--correct me if I'm wrong--that doubling up on an NPC is not valuable since Fenric's 1 influence with Valerie would not add to, say, Quintessa coming over and getting a success while Fenric stays to try more. Fenric would have 2 and Quintessa only 1, rather than moving Valerie up to a 3.

PF2E_Kingmaker_GM |

Fenric, you are correct that it would not move Valerie to 3. But if 2 characters double up, I would treat it as an Aid Another check (auto success -no need to roll) where if two characters chat with one NPC, the one with the highest influence (I would assume since you want to increase the highest score) would get +1 on the die roll, which may make it easier to get a critical success and get 2 more influence instead of 1. In game, it would be like Quintessa came over and started talking Fenric up to the NPC, how trustworthy he is, etc.

PF2E_Kingmaker_GM |

Ok, so for the 4th round, I am missing Thark and Fenric. Like I said before, I do not want to get this AP to get bogged down in the opening scene. We can move on to the action. :)

Thark posted back on Monday. He spoke more with Amiri and had a DC17 Diplomacy roll

PF2E_Kingmaker_GM |

I was sick for most of week so I appreciate the patience. 2 more rounds and we can move on. :)

I'm posting this to all of my tables: My apologies for my delays and/or minimal posting for the past few weeks. There has been an unusually burdensome conflux of time sensitive urgencies both at home and at work, some anticipated and some not. Things are beginning to finish up, but I expect it to take another week until I'm above water.

Quick question, GM.
We have these initiative rolls:
Cutthroats: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Fenric: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Quin: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Selina: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Teela: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Thark: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Selina
Fenric
Teela
Cutthroats
Thark
Quintessa
Are we doing block initiative or are we going player after player as per initiative?
By block initiative, I mean all players that go before the first NPC in initiative would be able to act. In this case, it would be Selina, Fenric, and Teela would post in any order, then the Cutthroats do their actions, and then the players again in any order, as opposed to going player after player as per the initiative order.
I hope I made the idea clear. It is a standard in PbP games here to speed up the turn process.
It does have downsides, yes. For example I could take an action to cast Courageous Anthem, giving status bonuses to people, and then we would have to determine whether Selina and Fenric Benefit from it since Teela's turn starts after the two of them are done (as per initiative).
