Round 2

Dang, those crits were stolen from you.

Jack follows Henrika’s lead and hacks at the statue from the other direction.

Jack hits the gargoyle guardian twice for a total of 25 damage.

Henrika wrote:
Henrika triggers her painful stare when Trevor hits, adding 3 damage to his attack.

Added.

Round 3

Tychus reloads.

Navia has gotten Aresphena good. She does not have any good way to escape a grapple.

Trapped under the statue of Navia, Aresphena struggles futilely but clever, she focuses on what she can still do. She twists her head to stare directly at Trevor in an attempt to petrify him.

Those with gaze attacks can use their action to focus their gaze on a single target to force another save. She does that against Trevor. I’ll let Trevor roll. Fort DC 16.

Fire Reflex DC 15, pinned, shaken: 1d10 + 11 - 4 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 11 - 4 - 2 = 11
Fire Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3

The fire continues to burn for 3 more damage. Since Navia is stone, it no longer affects her.

Xallis’ wand fails to activate and he drops prone.

Eyes Closed/Blind:
The creature cannot see. It takes a –2 penalty to Armor Class, loses its Dexterity bonus to AC (if any), and takes a –4 penalty on most Strength– and Dexterity-based skill checks and on opposed Perception skill checks. All checks and activities that rely on vision (such as reading and Perception checks based on sight) automatically fail. All opponents are considered to have total concealment (50% miss chance) against the blinded character. Blind creatures must make a DC 10 Acrobatics skill check to move faster than half speed. Creatures that fail this check fall prone.

Grappled:
Grappled creatures cannot move and take a –4 penalty to Dexterity. A grappled creature takes a –2 penalty on all attack rolls and combat maneuver checks, except those made to grapple or escape a grapple. In addition, grappled creatures can take no action that requires two hands to perform. A grappled character who attempts to cast a spell or use a spell-like ability must make a concentration check (DC 10 + grappler’s CMB + spell level), or lose the spell. Grappled creatures cannot make attacks of opportunity.

On Fire:
In each round, the burning character must make DC 15 Reflex saving throw. Failure means he takes 1d6 points of fire damage that round. Success means that the fire has gone out—that is, once he succeeds on his saving throw, he’s no longer on fire.

Petrified:
A petrified character has been turned to stone and is considered unconscious. If a petrified character cracks or breaks, but the broken pieces are joined with the body as he returns to flesh, he is unharmed. If the character’s petrified body is incomplete when it returns to flesh, the body is likewise incomplete and there is some amount of permanent hit point loss and/or debilitation.

Pinned:
A pinned creature is tightly bound and can take few actions. A pinned creature cannot move and is denied its Dexterity bonus. A pinned character also takes an additional –4 penalty to his Armor Class. A pinned creature is limited in the actions that it can take. A pinned creature can always attempt to free itself, usually through a combat maneuver check or Escape Artist check. A pinned creature can take verbal and mental actions, but cannot cast any spells that require a somatic or material component. A pinned character who attempts to cast a spell or use a spell-like ability must make a concentration check (DC 10 + grappler’s CMB + spell level) or lose the spell. Pinned is a more severe version of grappled, and their effects do not stack.

Prone:
The character is lying on the ground. A prone attacker has a –4 penalty on melee attack rolls and cannot use a ranged weapon (except for a crossbow). A prone defender gains a +4 bonus to Armor Class against ranged attacks, but takes a –4 penalty to AC against melee attacks.

Shaken:
A shaken character takes a –2 penalty on attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks.

Henrika, Trevor, Icabhod, and Malphene are next.

Round 3

Trevor locks eyes with the medusa and his body turns to stone. A smug grin of satisfaction crosses Aresphena’s face.

Henrika’s first hit bounces harmlessly off the statues hard body. The second hit punches through.

Henrika hits the gargoyle guardian for 9 damage after DR.

Henrika wrote:
"Aresphena, thy doom is at hand, and the curse under which I placed thy fate surely burns the life from thee. Wilt thou go to Judgement with lies upon thy lips? I charge thee: tell us the true story of what has passed here, and we will see that thy memory is honored after thou art gone."

”Story? Alright, I lied about just arriving. I’ve been here for more like 6 months. I fell in love with the architecture as it reminded my of the ruined manor in my favorite novel. Then when travelers and smugglers started to show up, I decided to use them to recreate my favorite scene. Where’s the harm in that? Work was slow and only recently has there been an influx in visitors allowing me to accelerate my tableau’s completion. I’m not heartless. Let me keep the priest and I’ll command the statue to stop and the rest of you can go.”

Icabhod keeps his eyes closed and waits.

Malphene stabs her sword into the pinned medusa. Aresphena coughs up blood and laughs. ”You’ll have to do better than that.”

Malphene hits Aresphena for 10 damage.

The construct programmed to defend Aresphena attacks Malphene.

The gargoyle guardian hits Malphene twice for a total of 23 damage. Then is succeeds on a free grapple and squeezes her for 12 more damage. She is grappled by the guardian.

Round 3

The statue’s mobility is limited while holding onto Malphene. Jack uses that to his advantage and smashes into the statue twice.

Jack hits the gargoyle guardian twice for a total of 18 damage after DR.

Round 4

I’m assuming Tychus attacks continue on Aresphena.

Tychus unloads into the pinned medusa. Aresphena’s body trembles as the three bolts impale her and then she falls still.

Tychus deals 58 damage to Aresphena and kills her.

Round 4

Henrika’s first slash bounces off the creature’s stone body, then she swings harder. She destroys the construct’s shoulder; its arm falls to the ground freeing Malphene, then the animating magic dissipates and the remaining statue stands motionless.

Henrika hits once with a critical hit for 31 damage which destroys the gargoyle guardian.

Aresphena has a few items on her: a magic composite longbow, 20 arrows, a dagger, a magic rod, a spell component pouch, a finely bound copy of The Broken House of Kriegmoor, and a magic ointment.

Identify Rolls:

Magic Rod Spellcraft DC 22
Trevor: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Tychus: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Xallis: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18

Tychus: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Xallis: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29

You identify the items as a lesser extend metamagic rod, a +1 composite longbow, and a stone salve.

Perception or K. Nobility:

Henrika: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20
Icabhod: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16
Tychus: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (17) + 18 = 35
Xallis: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (10) + 14 = 24

Examining the statues more closely now, many of the statues here meet the descriptions of Taldan Horse soldiers, while others appear to be unknown vagabonds. However, while you found some of the missing soldiers, the few here are only a small portion of the missing cavalry. In addition, you identify the unhappy groom as Eutropia’s missing representative, Sir Meir Dravatis.

You don’t have enough stone salve for all of these statues but you do have enough for one or two. Between the stone salve you bought and the one you just found, you have 4 uses, and I’m sure you are using 2 for Trevor and Navia, so that leaves 2 uses left.
