Thank you for running this! It's be an entertaining scenario!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Game has been sent for reporting. Chronicle sheets can be found here.
Please let me know of any corrections or revisions.
Players are responsible for Day Jobs and any other Downtime activities per the Organized Play Guide.
I will keep this campaign active until I have confirmation of receipt of chronicles by all players or one week, whichever comes first.
Thanks again for playing and I look forward to sharing a table with each of you in the future!

Day Job, Performance (E), DC 23: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (5) + 20 = 25
Jiki has a few more unflattering rhymes about Aslynn to add to his repertoire.

Thank you for the game! In the end it was... Aslynn's end. Great !

Nina's looks great - thanks for running!
What was your favorite part of writing the scenario? Any bits you were particularly proud of?

Chronicle looks good. Thanks to everyone for a great game, especially Valen for running... and writing, and putting up with me.

What was your favorite part of writing the scenario? Any bits you were particularly proud of?
My primary goal with each scenario that I have written has been to write an adventure that I would want to play. My secondary goal for each is to write something that I would enjoy running as a GM more than once. This table has been my first time GMing this scenario, but I look forward to running it for different parties, paritcularly to see how the change in the dynamics of the final battle changes the experience. I have not played this scenario. Yet, as for the secondary goal, I consider the scenario a success
While writing the adventure, I think I most enjoyed finding ways to incorporate as many nods to past scenarios involving Aslynn as reasonably possible. The silver chalk, the animate dreams, the soulslivers (Aslynn's Eyes), Stasian technology, and the violet etheroot all appeared in some form in prior scenarios as did the NPCs and some prior "hints" of Aslynn's abilities. My earlier, pre-playtest drafts also included nightmares and feargaunts, but some of the feedback I got from playtesters was that the initially-drafted fights were way too tough. Also, the playtest run exceeded well over six hours, so I concluded that the strength of the opponents had to be dialed back. The devs also made some changes that appear to have been made along those lines.
As far as those "bits" of which I am the proudest, I would probably go with the creature designs--it was fun converting the soulslivers and violet etheroot for second edition, albeit with my own twists, particularly the soul-fired pot as it became a way to gave "construct armor" to a plant and also add to the idea that Aslynn was "making herself at home" in Zarta's dreamscape. There was neither room in the adventure nor a good reason to include such, but I came up with a whole backstory for the soul-fired pot and cultivation of etheroots while writing the scanrio. Maybe some day, those ideas will become the basis for a future Pathfinder Infinite project. (Aslynn's Guide to the Care and Feeding of Etheroots, anyone?)
As noted above, I am also pleased with how each potential outcome in the Influence System section has a meaningful impact on the final battle with Aslynn. Depending upon which NPC you influence and how well, the final battle can become more difficult or result in the potential "sacrifice" of a NPC.
If you wouldn't mind, I would love to hear what your "favorite" parts of the scenario were and/or what parts you think could have been improved.

I haven't played a huge fraction of scenarios overall, but I think I caught at least a few of the references.
silver chalk = PFS1 #5-09??
animate dreams = PFS2 #4-01?
soulslivers = PFS1 #10-13??
Stasian technology = PFS2 #4-06, #4-11?
violet etheroot = ??
In the PbP format, I like longer roleplaying exchanges, such as the "rap battle" that Nina had with Aslynn. I don't really think it's feasible in a F2F/VTT format, but it's really fun in PbP.
I liked the concept that there was a trap that we were setting, I don't know if there's been a PFS scenario I've played other than #1-18 where there was this concept of us standing still and waiting for enemies to come to us.
Overall, it was a great scenario, and I'm looking forward to running it myself someday. I think the hope would be to run related scenarios in a row, so it's easier to see some of the continuity. As a matter of fact, one of the PFS1 scenarios I referenced in the spoiler I only ran because it was part of a series (on Valais Durant, when she became the new Radiant Oath faction leader in PFS2).

I really liked the callbacks, especially the chalk! (That was one of my favorite 1e scenarios of that season.)
I like setting up the trap and protecting the chalice best, and I also enjoyed the visible effect that the roleplaying challenge had on the last battle.
GM Valen |
I appreciate all the feedback.
The concept of setting a trap for Aslynn was always part of the adventure from the beginning, being part of the initial outline giving to me by the developer. From there, I got to be creative.
The format for PbP does allow for more indepth roleplaying (and it certainly helps to have great players like you all!)
I wracked my brain for a while to try and figure out how the party would initially "lure" Aslynn. When I came across the chalk during my research, I knew I wanted to use it!
silver chalk = PFS1 #5-09
animate dreams = PFS2 #3-19, #4-11
soulslivers (Aslynn's Eyes) = PFS1 #7-09
Stasian technology = PFS2 #3-14, #4-06, #4-11
violet etheroot = PFS1 #10-11
Some additional nods/callbacks are:
scheme to steal a noted Pathfinder's soul = PFS1 #7-23
siphoning stone = PFS1 #10-00
lucid dreaming powers = PFS2 #3-17
Aslynn's "abilities" = PFS2 #4-01
bugbear airship crew = PFS2# 4-08
Zarta and the Dark Archives' "use" of dreamscapes for Pathfinder business = PFS2 Dark Archive (The Stolen Casefiles).
I will keep this campaign active for a little while longer to answer any additional questions that may arise. If there aren't any of the next couple of days, I will mark it inactive. Feel free, however, to shoot me a PM if you have any questions after that.
Until we share a table again, I wish you all some very Happy Gaming!

Been hunting Aslynn since my paladin found her in PF1 S7.
I'm getting my family group ready for an Aslynn run (Electric Lab - Electric Castle - Hag's Claw) as soon as I get them out of 6th level. Looking forward to reading this.
I definitely need to prep a bunch of rhymes for Aslynn to use at various points (unless you have helpfully provided them). The back and forth was a lot of fun, and as others have said, PbP is the perfect format for that - more time to come up with quips, and doesn't slow the game to use them.
Just a great experience all around. Paizo picked the right person to close out the season.

I hadn't played all of these scenarios but that didn't actually matter. I enjoyed the multi-part nature - especially having to go to a 'back-up plan'.
