For future reference, I've asked some rules-savvy friends, and they say Strike first, then see if I fumble the reload or not. But looking at their HP totals and assuming regular slashing weakness, I think I would've killed it anyway.

![]() |

Veiled Lady, I don't mean to backseat game for you, but I'd like to mention that the two-action Heal does not give the 8 additional damage on harming undead:
◆◆(somatic, verbal) The spell has a range of 30 feet. If you're healing a living creature, increase the Hit Points restored by 8.(Same with Harm to harm living, it's only for healing that you get the +8.)
A single action would've had the same effect, or a three-action Heal would've forced a save from every zombie and healed us at the same time.
Not asking the GM for a re-do, what's happened has happened, just giving options for future turns.
You are right. Thank you for noticing it.

@Horul,
Please provide link for "weapon siphon"

GM rainzax |

Horul,
In gameplay you are applying this as if it functions like an additional damage rune (ex. Corrosive Rune) which is a level 8 item.
What is your understanding of how it works?

![]() |

I think it's sort of like an additional damage rune, yeah, but much more limited. First of all, you need to load it into the weapon (which, if I see correctly, Horul didn't do, but I'm not 100% on that nevermind, you can pre-load it beforehand. It only becomes "active" after the first attack), and then it only lasts for 1 minute or 3 attacks, whichever is shorter.
I think the way it works if done properly is: 1 action to grab bomb, 1 action to put into the weapon. That already eats up a lot of actions (assuming it's done in combat). It doesn't scale at higher levels, since it only uses lesser bombs, and it doesn't have the rider effect most other bombs have. A level 3 bomb does more damage and has more utility. This is just a nice buff for melee bombers, I think.
Don't get me wrong, it's still a very good item, but considering it's only a 1d4 and requires setup and consumables, it seems fair. I don't see anything wrong in his use of the item.

GM rainzax |

Horul, what do you think?

![]() |

Well it doesn't matter what I think. the important is what I read:
1. No rune tag. So it isn't a rune. It's a common adjustment (item lvl 1). So everybody can buy it at lvl 1.
2. Of course the bomb is previously fitted into the siphon each morning.
3. "The next three attacks made with the weapon deal 1d4 damage of the bomb's damage type in addition to the weapon's normal damage." So it's wrong to say "It only becomes "active" after the first attack".
3. I forgot the interact to use it.
That's all.
Resume:
1. everybody can use it.
2. An alchemist would fit one lesser flask during preparation each in the siphon.
3. One interact before to strike to use it.

GM rainzax |

Merellin check your PMs!

GM rainzax |

That was a longer break than I expected.
Getting back on the horse now.
Prepare yourselves for the 4th and final mission!

![]() |

Is Year of Boundless Wonder replayable?

![]() |

4-01 is replayable

![]() |

I may need to bring another PC for that one... Haohji just went through that one before this...

![]() |

Horul too. As I said previously.

![]() |

I just built Ho'okepa a monk sailor that I can use for the next module... Most interesting character... He would go into the Wrestler archetype at 2nd... :p

◆ Ramona attempts to stop the bad effects on the party. [dice=Counter Performance]1d20+7
Ramona, can you please provide the link or full text of this ability?

GM rainzax |

Attempting to assist Veiled Lady with another save, maybe?
Gunna drop this here:
=)
Also check the Tracker for the Confused condition!
=)

![]() |

Can I willingly do 1 hp damage? I can do nonlethal without penalty...

GM rainzax |

Gunna stick to the posted links to adjudicate striking your ally!

![]() |

I am frustrated that there seems to be nothing in the rules about pulling your punches, especially when recovering HP is so restrictive. I will roll my actions shortly.

![]() |

Splash damage from an alchemical bomb could do it, I think. Just throw it on the ground next to us and we'll take the splash. But yeah, seems weird that you have to go all-out on your allies when only a little bit would work.
Nonlethal would only work on the final hit though, using nonlethal on someone with full HP doesn't do much. So feel free to wail on me if it helps. :)

![]() |

Yeah... Hopefully this is close to the end...

GM rainzax |

Let's go ahead and keep the "hurry up and GM" comments to a minimum!
=)
Also, make sure you check out the "GM Hints" spoiler for a little meta on how to move forward...

![]() |

Hah, that's not what I meant. I meant this is the last mission before a long rest! ;) And, you are right. I had expected more people to be searching, but being that we do not have anyone else, Haohji will switch to Search mode.

GM rainzax |

GM note: this isn’t a “roll until you hit a number” situation - if you have rolled for a room, that’s it, unless you want to use a hero point. I will make any such rolls secret from here out, as it’s tempting to metagame this when they are open.
I want to know if the party wants to stay or not, as a group, before you start throwing dice.
So, stay past midnight or cut your losses?
I’ll remind you that sometimes we role play success, and sometimes we role play failure, and that is okay.
=)

This particular case is not a completionist one for me, but rather an in-character drive. The initial haunt has profoundly scarred Haohji and he wants to lay these dead to rest. If it were just finding treasure and the like, Haohji would leave it without a second thought, but this one hits him different.
HOWEVER, he is conscious of the exhaustion on the faces of his companions and can be talked down. He will want to come back later and continue to try... (whether it is in-game or not, maybe impetus to learn Religion down the road).

GM rainzax |

Hey gang,
Going to give this another 24 hours to build a majority, else I will move us on. As Haohji looks to be on the fence, what do the others think?

GM rainzax |

Players,
As the 3rd mission ran overlong, I am advised to move us along at a rapid clip to the end of the scenario, meaning, there will be a larger post with what amounts to "window dressing", followed by an initial post to the final encounter. The idea is to split the difference between doing justice to the scenario, and keeping the run time within the two-month parameter (We started on June 23rd), giving us two weeks to make it through tops.
If there any objections, please speak now!
In either case, I will make my next post tomorrow.

GM rainzax |

We are 3/5 Macro Initiatives!

![]() |

What exactly is our mission?

GM rainzax |

We are 3/5 Macro Initiatives!
Hey gang, we are still 2/5 initiatives in macros (see campaign header) - I will need these to move us along - if you have any questions about how to do this, please ask here!
Yesterday, anticipating a large work load at my job, I put together a monster post right before going to work - and the forums ate it! This has set me back some, but maybe tonight or tomorrow morning I can pick us up where we left off. Apologies!
The mission is in the last post, Haohji - look again.

![]() |

So we are trying to grab the text Tavvar is using, or make a copy? Am I deciphering that correctly? We are not trying to stop her from doing whatever it is she is doing?
EDIT: The boxes for Initiative were emptied. So I copied the drop down menu and updated my Initiative.

I currently have:
[dice= Horul's Initiative Using Avoid notice]1d20+4[ /dice]
[dice= Haohji Umesaki's Initiative Using Scout]1d20+6[ /dice]
[dice= Merellin's Initiative Using Avoid Notice]1d20+7[ /dice]
Can the rest of you fill these in please? Again, if you have any questions, please ask here!

![]() |

[dice=Krinolyn's Initiative Using Defend]1d20+7[ /dice]
I already have this in the Macros. It looks like it does not reflect on GM sheet.

GM rainzax |

First time using the Macro sheet.
Veiled Lady, I have no idea why your Initiative isn't "reporting to GM" even clicking and un-clicking the box. In any case, thanks for providing your info here.
Here we go!
EDIT: A reminder once again to fully read the encounter tracker before posting!

![]() |

Ramona will move to the bottom of the stairs
Occultism: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Begin puppeteering (Inspire Courage = +1 att/dam & save vs fear)

GM rainzax |

@ Ramona
Are you attempting a Recall Knowledge check? If "yes" please spoiler your roll!
Dammit, I forgot! Sorry!
EDIT: You want me to roll again, but spoilered?
Yes please!
(Because if you know the result, it is not "secret" - the point is to divide out-game knowledge of the roll outcome from in-game knowledge of the subject of the recall check!)

GM rainzax |

@Ramona - I am unable to see your PC Sheet in the forums - could you please import her statistics into her Alias?
@Everyone - here are the rules for Difficult Terrain - please apply them when you are moving your token around (and see Combat Tracker for what qualifies as Difficult Terrain).

![]() |

You should be able to click through to my dropbox to see my character sheet, etc., but I've put the short version in.

GM rainzax |

@ Ramona, two things:
1) You are not "up" again - I have placed your token back. We are waiting on Haohji's third action.
2) What is your character's Ancestry and Background? May I request that you put the "long version" in your Character Alias, please, inclusive of these details. It is okay if you "host" your character on site, but I will request your full character sheets as accessible on these forums.

GM rainzax |

Are these 10 foot squares? I had taken into account the difficult terrain, leaving the lightning bolt was no longer difficult terrain, correct? Anyway...
These are the Grid Movement rules - I do not intend to deviate from running them as explained in the link.

GM rainzax |

1) Then just do my actions at the appropriate time. Thanks.
You are up now Ramona.
Don't forget to read the whole Combat Tracker - there are a lot of moving parts to this encounter and my goal is for you to have the information you need to make meaningful choices here!

GM rainzax |

I will remind you all of the current Hero Point situation:
Haohji (☑☑☑) @ 0
Horul (☑□) @ 1
Merilin (□□□) @ 3 (!)
Ramona (☑□□) @ 2
Veiled Lady (☑□□) @ 2
Also, if you check the Combat Tracker, I have posted DCs and ACs...
=)

GM rainzax |

We are wrapping up now - you can expect your chronicles within 48 hours! - reported hopefully later tonight - but first, please provide me your contact info in the "Contact Sheet" in this Alias - I got 3/5 of you so far!
Edit ➤ I realized I never asked for these:
Player Name: (optional)
Character Name:
PFS / Character Number / Faction:
Downtime Skill / Task Level / Task DC / Die Result / Outcome: (optional)
