[OutPost VI] SFS 5-11: Archivist's Inquiry - GM Blazej (Inactive)

Game Master Zynete

Hello and welcome! I'll be running this level 1-4 Starfinder Scenario for OutPost and will be picking up a party of up to six characters to play in it. Please post if you are interested in playing.

I generally expect people to be able to make one post per day and notify if that there is an upcoming issue that might conflict with that. I also expect everyone to have some botting instructions on their profile or elsewhere that I can refer to in case needed.

I'll confirm players for the game within a week assuming the game fills past capacity.

Please post about your interest and I'm looking forward to running this!

Hello Blazej! I missed this when it was played in our area, because I was GMing the other table at Dreamers. I have two characters that could play through this:

Acquisitives

Hmm's High Tier Option

For high tier, I have Djakar of the Dirindi News Network! Djakar is an intrepid journalist with an interest in researching all the important news. Mechanically, she's an Envoy with the Icon Theme.

Djakar is Level 4, and I will be leveling her shortly. I have an extensive botting spoiler for this character.

Hmm's Low Tier Option

For low tier, I have the happy go-lucky Worlanisi weapon solarian, Chance. Chance is not a skills person. She has Diplomacy, Athletics, Culture and Mysticism. She also has the ability to simply make a once-a-day Lucky Guess. Chance is on her Jaunt as a Worlanisi, fascinated by everything the world has to offer. She's first level and scrappy in a fight, and likes being a lucky charm for others.

I have an extensive botting spoiler on my profile. Amusingly, Chance also hires hirelings from the Research Rat franchise, but hers are nowhere near as good. She can't hire the top of the line hirelings the way Djakar can.

I would be interested in playing this. Please note that I have GMed it.

If chosen, I would be bringing in a first or second level character. Right now said characters are sitting with a little bit of GM credit.

Advocates

GM Blazej, you may want to advertise this one in Castamir's. Since it was late entry, I am betting that most of the Starfinder crowd did not see this one.

Hello everyone,

I have been looking for a starfinder pbp game for a long time now. I have only played the system solo (with Mythic GME) so far, but I have quite some table-experience with D&D3.5/Pathfinder1E.

Would this be a game accessible for someone without "society-experience"? If so, I would definitely be interested. Daily posting is usually no problem! If that fits the team, I would tend towards a technomancer or mystic. But I'm rather flexible in that respect. I usually can find an intriguing idea for every role.

This game should be accessible as a first society game and I'm happy to help in any way I can. In general an organized play scenario like this will take on average 4-5 weeks to run with some outliers both ways.

Would you like me to point out the rules for organized play specifically? They generally work the same as the core rules but with a few modifications for rewards as you earn money during adventures and gain favor with varying factions.

That would be really helpfull. Thank you very much! But you could also just point me to where I can read up on it myself.

Welcome Humwa4015,

The Starfinder Society Guide to Organized Play is a good place to start. It even has a section about character creation. Basically it explains how Organized Play works.

There is also a PbP Lodges slide deck that explains who is who in Play by Post and has links to some excellent guides on PbP like Painlord’s Guiide to PbP.

Horizon Hunters

I would like to join but I only have level 1 characters that can play for this one.

Alright, I'll dig into that. Thank you!

Grand Archive

Greetings,

I have a couple of options for low tier. Both are level 2. I have Tasen, my half-Orc Soldier and Norbert, my Kobold Operative who usually runs around disguised as a halfling.

For high tier my only character available right now is Velorum, a Halfling Mystic.

Ok. Read the basics and created a society-ID.
Characterwise, I was thinking about a Vlaka Mystic - maybe with a little "shamanistic" spin to it and built for melee and healing - who emigrated from Lajok and found a new home with the society. But as already mentioned: I can also find something else, if that wouldn't fit for some reason.

Acquisitives

I have this character (level 1) that will be interested to play :)

Dataphiles

Your new AI overlord is available to guide this group towards success. Please stay clear of the closing doors.

I have this character available as a Low-Tier option, and the space station's little sister in high tier.

Advocates

We now have officially more than six low tier characters, Blazej.

APPLICANT Summary so far

Hmm's Chance the Fortunaut - Level One Worlanisi Weapon Solarian
Bret's GM Baby - Level 1 or 2 ????
Humwa4015's Level 1 Vlaka Mystic
Frozen Frost's Level 1 - ????
Computer Pro Level 1 Tasen the Half-Orc Soldier or Norbert Kobold Operative
Ilmakis Level 1 Mizzrym - Drow Xenoarchaeologist Soldier
Kludde's Level 2 RZMR - Android Technomancer

Dataphiles

I will play the game with this level 1 android precog.

Dataphiles

This is the character I would like to bring. His past is complicated.

Looks like you’ve got more applications than seats, GM Blazej.

As I have already GMed this, I don’t mind if there is no room for me.

Have fun everyone!

Alright. I (Humwa4015) started to dabble in character creation . Still working on the details, but my new idea is to play this character as a priest of Sarenrae: he left Lajok like many other Vlaka with the general duty to search for possible ways to save the dying planet and during his time at the society he has come to the conviction that this could only be achieved with the grace of Sarenrae. So it will be priest as a theme.

And he is going to be a good character (probably even lg), but finding a canine or wolflike avatar without an evil grin or snarl seems to be impossible.

Advocates

Humwa, this is the avatar I chose for my Vlaka mystic, as I had the same problem.

Hmm

Humwa, this is Chance (Hmm) again.

I have three questions for you:

1) Do you know how to create an Organized Play character on Paizo? Paizo Organized Play characters show up with Green Names, and I see no Organized Play characters in your aliases.

Here are the steps:

a. Go to https://paizo.com/organizedPlay/myAccount

b. Sign in. Create an Organized Play account if you haven't already.

c. Scroll down to the button that says 'Register a new Starfinder Society Character'.

2) What Mystic Connection did you choose?

3) Do you need a template to format your character in?

I use this template. If you click on Chance's avatar, you can see how it looks when filled out.

I did create the account. Just didn't register Albrik yet. Wanted to finish him first and put everything into the profile.
Thanks for the template!

In the connection department, I'm still torn between:

Crusader - mostly mechanical reasons, because I want him to be melee focused.

Healer - for him Sarenrae is the hope for life, where death seems to be inevitable.

Starshaman - would put more focus on the energy of the sun as a center of his religious efforts.

Xenodruid was the original idea, but I crossed that out when the Sarenrae - idea hit.

I try to finish the character and get it registered on the weekend.

Ok, now I understood what you meant.

Dataphiles

Seven players already! Since my personal goal is to have as many paizo-board tables over the legal line, I might be better off removing myself from this table in favour of a sign-up in your other table

Consider RZMR removed, unless his services are called for (i.e. make me lowest priority).

Advocates

Oh no, RZMR! Bret aready dropped, which means we need you. I have never played alongside you, and you know that Chance loves her roleplay.

Albrik, I see you went Star Shaman! That's an excellent choice (though I have now played half the mystic connections now. So many great options that I keep making mystic characters to try them out!)

Advocates

Yes, mostly a flavor- decision. Making it all about suns seemed just right to me.
Thanks for the template again. It makes things really comfortable.

Well, if we're six, we're six, and I'll be delighted to be part of the group in that case!

Yes, this seems to be largely settled with you six as players. I'll have a signup sheet in the next day or so set up and I'm be getting the rest of the adventure ready as well in the next few days so we can be ready when OutPost starts in full force!

Advocates

Blazej, can you connect a Gameplay thread so that we can dot and delete?

Done!

I've set up the sign up page for this game as well as the slideshow I'll be using for the maps. I'll put those on the discussion page as well as attaching to the top of the this campaign.

Just to confirm, the players I have for the game are:
Hmm
Humwa4015
Frozen Frost
Computer Pro
Ilmakis
Kludde

Advocates

Trying to sign up on the sheet - where can I find the character number?

Dataphiles

If you select ‘organised play’ from your ‘my account’ dropdown, you get a list of your society characters plus numbers. They should be in the form 12345678-701. The first bit is your player number, the second part your character number

Advocates

Got it. Thank you!

Second Seekers (Ehu Hadif)

I’ve been told you had one drop and are looking for a 6th character.

I’ve got Trill, my dirindi PreCog 3 that I can bring. Profile will be updated today.
