Here is Volreg's submission for character sheet. I'll have a backstory in later today.


Touched up my character. Changed equipment and added hydrated vitality.

Background:
Evander often tells people he grew up between the sea and the storm, born to a Chelaxian sailor and a Rahadoumi refugee in the city of Khari. One believed in Iomedae and the other Sarenrae, oppressed by both Cheliax's infernal governance and Rahadoum's Laws of Man. Growing up with these kinds of struggles instilled in him a strong sense of right and wrong, and an abiding frustration with laws. He learned the arts of healing and carpentry, departing Khari on the first ship he could find, and sailing between Avistan and Garund on various merchantmen, sometimes fighting against Shackles pirates and sometimes accepting their help when encountering slaving ships in the area of the Shackles, a practice he thoroughly despises. It was in an attack on one such ship where he first was empowered by the gods to strike down evil.

Shortly after this, he was dropped at Port Peril with his payment and he had begun scouting for a new crew to join, finding his way to the Formidably Maid and hearing a scream from a nearby alley. Perhaps foolishly, he decided to do the valorous thing and walked right into a trap...

@ Evander - Weapon Focus is with a group, not a specific weapon, it should be (heavy blades). Also, you have your speed lsited as "30' (20' in armor), but you only have leather armor listed? Leather armor doesn't reduce your speed.


@ Karga - Ah , I see now, Scarred is a drawback. That means you are one trait short. You start with two traits plus a campaign trait, the drawback gives you a third non-campaign trait.

I think it's Hero Lab not recognizing your unique allowances. I can adjust Weapon Focus accordingly on my profile. And I think the reason for the speed reduction is because at the moment my character's got a Medium load, which is why his physical skills like Swim are at a negative at the moment (I know S&S starts out with all your equipment taken from you as part of the press-ganged experience, but I assumed you'd want us written up WITH that equipment so you know what to give us back).

There is an add on for Hero lab for the World is Square rules.


Character updated. Added Planar Savant as 3rd trait. Also changed campaign trait from Buccaneer's Blood to Touched by The Sea, as either fits.

Detlev Greenbeard: CN Dwarven Seaborn Sorcerer

Background:

Detlev is a distant descendent of Sarnar Greenbeard, one of the most famous dwarven pirates to ever sail the seas. As well as taking on ships of all sorts, Sarnar also fought numerous sea monsters and other aquatic denizens in pursuit of treasure and glory, overcoming all manner of curses and magical attacks. When she finally retired and (somewhat) settled down, it seemed the sea had made its mark on her, as many of her children, grandchildren and descendants found they had magical aquatic aptitude.

Detlev's branch of the family turned away from piratical pursuits and became simple fisherfolk, heading out on to the ocean each day to trawl for fish. Tales of Sarnar were intended to scare young dwarven children into line, but Detlev found them fascinating and resolved to follow in her footsteps. Sailors in the local tavern always talked of the Shackles as the place for pirates, so Detlev has made his way there to join a pirate crew.

Appearance and Personality:

Detlev's magic ties him to the sea, and his appearance reflects that: his beard, when not wet from the ocean spray is usually crusted with salt. Though he tries to keep it neat, it seems to follow the tides, fluffing out at high tide, then hanging down limply as the sea descends.

Detlev is cheerful and outgoing, if a little naive. He left home with only a vague plan of what to do, but is trusting that things will work out.

Character still coming, but there's a hitch: We have no power due to a huge storm here in the metro Detroit area, and we might not have power back until Thursday or Friday. Still working on him, using my phone, but it's slow going, and honestly I hate writing this way. lol

Summing him up:
Half-Orc, Cleric of Gozreh, Neutral Good with Pirate tendencies. Healer and ship repairs.

Wears an armored coat, wields a falchion, as well as a crossbow. Owns a trident, but doesn't always carry it, considering it should only be used in special circumstances.

My name is Audra Firtina which means storm in two languages. They say I was born out of wedlock in the middle of the worst storm in fifty years to batter Ilizmagorti, a wretched hive of scum and villainy. Certainly my early life was tempestuous, growing up in the long shadow of the Red Mantis taught me many unpleasant lessons. My family was somewhat unconventional… Mother, bless her rotten avaricious heart, was an honest to goodness pirate. My father, well we never really knew who he was. Oh we know who he claimed to be, but there's no such thing as a 'humble wine merchant' on Mediogalti Island.

What I do know is the long weeks and months when he was away was like the calm before the storm. Despite being a pirate of some renown, she was scared of him. I remember the fighting, the cursing and screaming, vases thrown while I hid in the closet. In the end she always backed down, despite what it cost her. When he was gone she’d hug me close and whisper, ‘Don’t be like him… You were marked for greater things than the Honeyed Gardens of the Sivlamlik’.

At the time I had no idea of what she spoke, and now that I do it sends a shiver down my spine. I’m glad to be well away. When I was fifteen we waited till Father had been gone for a week before I signed onto the Bloodsoaked Lion as a swab. It was far from glamorous but it was far from father and life aboard had its charms. It was the sea I loved mostly, especially when the wind was howling! There's nothing quite like witnessing the raw majesty of nature to put things in perspective.

It was there in the middle of a storm no less, that I felt the first stirrings of Gozreh's calling. There's just something about the majesty of sky and sea that makes my soul ache with fierce joy. I'm not alone in that regard, the faith of She Who Guides The Wind And The Waves is welcome aboard most every ship. Still perhaps I like the storms a bit too much, longing for them and laughing like a loon when they came didn’t exactly endear me with the Bloodsoaked Lion’s mate.

I was summoned to see him and he said, ‘Audra. Audra, Audra, Audra what are we going to do with you?! You didn’t fall from the rigging, you know your knot work, and how to set a sail. What’s more your cooking is almost passable but that cackling in last night’s storm and the one the week before, that just won’t do. Tomorrow we berth in Port Peril, tomorrow evening we sail without you. Go to the bursar and collect your pay and gather your things.’

Well what do you say to that? Giving me a full season’s pay probably wasn't the best of ideas. Naturally I spent the next week crawling from disreputable tavern to disreputable tavern until I found myself in the Formidably Maid. Worst grog I ever tasted there, I must have had a skinful and then some for I awoke with a marching band in my skull in an unfamiliar room. The only thing I knew for sure was I was at sea with a tempest brewing in my head. Suddenly I realized what had happened, press ganged, now that just wouldn't do! This captain has sown the wind and I aim to make damn sure he'll reap the whirlwind!

Description:
Audra is a fiery redhead, with sea green eyes and a wicked smile. Her build is slim and wiry, she used to sport a fine scimitar but that got lost and now she carries a simple quarterstaff. She favours wooden armor and a shield, while not the best in a scrap at least it won’t carry her down to Davy Jones' locker should the need to swim arise.

I went for Ilizmagorti Native here since I have some previous experience on these boards with that location. I was toying with Ship's Surgeon and the healing hands feat, it would have been easy to fit in mechanically but I decided it didn't really fit her background.
