Racial Traits:
Darkvision Aasimars can see in the dark up to 60 feet. Deathless Spirit Particularly strong-willed aasimars possess celestial spirits capable of resisting the powers of death. They gain resistance 5 against negative energy damage. They do not lose hit points when they gain a negative level, and they gain a +2 racial bonus on saving throws against death effects, energy drain, negative energy, and spells or spell-like abilities of the necromancy school. This racial trait replaces celestial resistance. Scion of Humanity Some aasimars’ heavenly ancestry is extremely distant. An aasimar with this racial trait counts as an outsider (native) and a humanoid (human) for any effect related to race, including feat prerequisites and spells that affect humanoids. She can pass for human without using the Disguise skill. This racial trait replaces the Celestial language and alters the native subtype. Eldritch Heritage (Void-touched):
Black motes Summon a rain of tiny meteorites as a standard action to fall in a 5-foot column, 30 feet high, with a range of 30 feet. The meteors inflict 1d4 points of cold damage + 1 per 2 sorcerer levels. A Reflex save negates this damage. The save DC is equal to 10 + 1/2 your sorcerer level + your Charisma modifier. You may use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Charisma modifier. Shaman Abilities:
Spirit Heavens Spirit Abilities Stardust (Sp): As a standard action, Leuc causes stardust to materialize around one creature within 30 feet. This stardust causes the target to shed light as a candle, and it cannot benefit from concealment or any invisibility effects. The creature takes a –1 penalty on attack rolls and sight-based Perception checks. This penalty to attack rolls and Perception checks increases by 1 at 4th level and every 4 levels thereafter, to a maximum of –6 at 20th level. This effect lasts for a number of rounds equal to half the shaman’s level (minimum 1). Sightless creatures cannot be affected by this ability. Leuc can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + her Charisma modifier. Spirit Animal The flesh of the shaman’s spirit animal accurately reflects the stars that would be visible in the night sky, no matter where the animal is or the time of day. Due to this, it can be used as a star map. In addition, it gains a fly speed of 5 feet; if the animal already has a fly speed, instead its fly speed increases by 10 feet. While the animal is flying, a small nimbus of light surrounds it. Wandering Spirit Lore
Wrangle Condition 7/day, standard action, can remove condition from creature within 30 feet with a Diplomacy check. DC 15 fatigued, shaken, sickened; DC 20 staggered, dazed; DC 25 exhausted, frightened, nauseated; DC 30 blinded, deafened, paralyzed, stunned. Failure by 5 or less can take condition onto self; failure by 10 or more, shaman and origial target both suffer condition.

BACKGROUND
Description:
Leuc's Mini Short and skinny, Leuc is just under five and a half feet, with bones clearly highlighted against the shrunken confines of his face. He typically wears an oversized, if tattered, burlap monk's robe that has seen cleaner days. Between the draping sleeves and the shadowed cowl very little of him can be seen- but what skin is visible is pale in the extreme. While lacking the pure colorlessness of an albino, his complexion could be described as alabaster soaked in curdled milk. His hair is a light golden brown, kept cropped short by hand with a dagger. Between his pallor, his small frame, and clear need of a week of good meals, he can pass for homely at his best and unpleasant looking at his worst- especially as he isn't too picky about periods between bathing. Nevertheless, he has a compelling manner about him when his wandering attention focuses on a person- there is a deep intensity behind his ice-blue eyes that is hard to pull one's attention away from. History:
Leuc was born far to the north, under the midnight sun of Sossal. He never had the pleasure of knowing either of his parents: his mother was found wandering and taken in by a druid circle. She was deep into her pregnancy, and, according to the druids, only somewhat lucid during the last weeks before giving birth. It took some days before she would even speak her name- Helma Jodocsdoter. When asked about the child's father, Helma would alternate between fearful silence and whispering fervently about 'eyes of distant starlight'. Nevertheless, she was cared for and ultimately delivered a healthy child. When Leuc was born, he was human to most appearances, though his complexion was considerably paler than normal even for the Sossrim. The most learned and elder of the druids did a divining and found that there was something 'other' about the child- hints of celestial blood, but also something darker as well. Perhaps in time Helma would have been able to talk about the child's origins, but soon after his birth she put him into the hands of a wet nurse and set out across the taiga. In spite of the druid's best efforts, she was never found. Leuc was, accordingly, raised by the circle. While this gave him a large 'family' of sorts, he was also being trained to be an acolyte of the faith. As he grew into his childhood, though, it became clear that Leuc's natural worldview was... problematic, at least as far as the concerns of druids went. He learned early on that all living things have a voice, but even as a toddler, he seemed to persist in believing that unliving things were every bit as alive. Animals and plants, yes, but also stones. Ice. Ashes. The stars. And, perhaps most disturbingly, the spaces in between the stars. Seven year old Leuc once told a tutor "Nothing has a voice too. And there is so much of it, sometimes the voice of Nothing is louder than all the Something put together." As he grew into adolescence, he also developed curiosity about himself. He didn't question too much his lack of parents- even then, he understood that all things die- but he still didn't know what he was. He wasn't quite human, that much was obvious, and even though some of the druids explained the concept of the planes, and celestial beings mingling with mortals,it still didn't feel quite right to him. Maybe he was an 'aasimar' like the elders said, but he didn't feel any kind of affinity to the bright side of the skies. Clouds, rainbows, sunshine- even his own ability to call the light of day into the palm of his hand- none of that felt quite 'him'. And so, when the time came when he had to decide if he would join the circle for himself, learn the final druid secrets and devote his life to the call of nature, he chose instead another path, sought more knowledge than he had ever learned from Circle of the Frozen Sun. He had a naturally bright mind, and began journeying from one locale to another, learning what fragments of secret knowledge he could from any particular place before moving on. He was never truly alone, for his ability to hear the voice of the inanimate only grew once he left his forest behind. Using his knowledge of the night skies, he traveled south, joining caravans and ship's crews by offering his services as a navigator. Wherever he went, he kept his mind open and learned. In Narfell, he studied the ruins and glyphs of a fallen empire. In Rashamen, he learned as much of the ways of the witches as an outsider could, eventually acquiring a spirit made flesh in the form of his bat familiar. Thesk, The Great Dale, Aglarond... his feet kept bringing him further south and east, further from his homeland than he had imagined possible, all in pursuit of a need to learn about the world and himself, like a voice whispering his name from just around the bend. Somewhere along the way, he came to a realization, and preaches that truth to this day: the true voice of the world was the voice of the void, and it was all consuming. Out there in the night skies lurked entities so terrible that nothing, celestial, devil, shadow being or gods themselves could endure. All would end, there would be a brief scream finishing the voice of the universe, and then silence would reign for eternity. He accepted this knowledge with a shrug; if something is inevitable, there is no point in fighting it, but he would do his part and spread the word that all may know the truth. It seems his truth leads to most people claiming he's insane, but he can live with that stigma, if only one out of a thousand people listens to him. Personality:
It takes time for Leuc to become comfortable with new people- this is a combination of his sometimes having difficulty focusing on what's directly in front of him, and also a somewhat persistent shyness. Once he's warmed up on someone being an actual part of his world, he can be much more forthcoming. A lack of social filter on his part can make that openness somewhat strange for those who aren't too familiar with him- he tends to assume that what is important to him is important to everyone who he likes, and tends to quite happily and enthusiastically gush on about how all mortal endeavor is futile, and the oncoming death of all life when the darkness between the stars finally awakens. He is, at least, a cheerful nihilist. After all, just because one accepts and in some ways embraces the inevitability of the end, doesn't mean that one wants people to suffer and be upset as the world inexorably slides into the sweet arms of oblivion. The end may come tomorrow, or it may come a thousand years from now- the intent of the Unknowable is, of course, unknowable. So just because all life will end (and all afterlife too; Leuc never fails to point out that the sanctity of a sweet death means nothing when all souls and the gods themselves will tilt into the maw of nonexistence)doesn't mean that the doomed masses can't find joy in whatever time they have. He is only too happy to help provide succor where it may be needed, consulting with the spirits of the world around him to offer whatever variety of gifts he is able to serve as a conduit for. Relations:
As a wanderer, Leuc has very few longstanding emotional ties. Some of the Circle of the Frozen Sun might have some concern for him, but in all honesty most were happy to see him depart- even as a youth, he was disturbing to be around. His only real friend is his spirit animal, a bat named Wildspace. Finding her is what unlocked his deeper powers, and the two share an inseperable bond, moreso than most familiars and spellcasters. Leuc has, however, always been curious about what became of Helma Jodocssdoter, his mother. It's less about an emotional need (or so he tells himself) but more of a desire to have questions answered. He has casually inquired about her in most of the places he has been to, but so far, no word has come. In all likelihood she's dead, he knows, and that shouldn't matter- when the dawn of the corpse stars comes and the skies bleed black, it won't matter whether you have a parent alive or not- but still, the thought naggles at him. |
