@GM Otha - Alie targeted the general and not Izmiaria with her spell. I think that the general is frozen solid now with those rolls. :)

Grand Lodge

Moonscar

Dammit, you’re right, that’s what I get for trying to post too fast. Irentios is frozen (his Will sucks, can’t believe they made him so easy to nullify)…

Grand Lodge

Moonscar

Izmiara swiftly casts a spell…

Cast Defensively: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (15) + 23 = 38

…and she blinks back to hovering over her bed…

Betcezia flies up to her, casts something, and you see many of Izmiara’s wounds heal…

Izmiara smirks as she calls for aid, ”Come to me, sisters! Attack the casters!”

A shantak with a succubus rider flies up from the pit below; you recognize her as the sister that escaped you on your arrival on the Moonscar…she fires a barrage at Agata…

Longbow: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (2) + 20 = 22
Magic/Piercing/Electrical Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 3 + (2) = 8

Longbow: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (9) + 20 = 29
Magic/Piercing/Electrical Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 3 + (2) = 10

Longbow: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (20) + 15 = 35

Longbow: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
Magic/Piercing/Electrical Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + 3 + (1) = 10

…and then a familiar succubus, Euphrixia, from the temple above, blinks in beside Alie and tries to touch her…

Vampiric Touch vs Touch AC: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26
Damage: 6d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 6, 1, 4, 5) = 20

Izmiara’s furious shantak attacks with tooth and claw…

Bite: 1d20 + 31 ⇒ (12) + 31 = 43
Damage: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (3, 5) + 10 = 18

Talon: 1d20 + 31 ⇒ (13) + 31 = 44

Talon: 1d20 + 31 ⇒ (14) + 31 = 45
Damage: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18

…and finally, Izmiara sends a wave of evil energy that reaches all but Zaarah…

Negative Energy Damage: 6d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 2, 4, 4, 3) = 24

All but Zaarah make a DC27 Will Save for half-damage

The archer changes his stance to a more aggressive posture and banes his bow against the evil outsiders that he is facing. He keeps his pull light on his bow attempting for accuracy over damage. He targets Betcezia first and then turns his arrows to target the evil queen should she drop. Once again he relies on his Echolocation to bypass her Displacement effect.

Combat Summary:

All rolls already include the planar penalty
Clustered Shot - Apply DR only once (for all attacks) for Betcezia.
Cold Iron arrows should bypass the DR for the Queen.

Defending Bone takes 20 points of damage off of the 4 arrows from the succubus archer on the shantak, which translates to 33 dmg. Agata still has 19 temp hp, so this translates to 14 points of actual hp dmg from her normal full amount of 136.

DC 27 Will vs Negative dmg: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (10) + 23 = 33 Half dmg is 12 but Agata has resistance 10 vs Negative so this is a net dmg of 2. She is now at -16 from her baseline of 136.

Seeing her spell (just) manage to effect her enemy, the old crone squints malevolently. "There's yer appetizer, and now it's time fer yer supper!"

Pointing her bony finger at Izmaria, a bolt of force flies toward her.

Disintegrate, using Dweomer's Essence to boost the SR check
Ranged Touch Attack, haste, four-leaf clover if applicable: 1d20 + 16 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 16 + 1 + 3 = 30
Caster level check vs SR 30, elven magic, dweomer's essence: 1d20 + 17 + 2 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 17 + 2 + 5 = 34
dmg: 34d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 5, 5, 5, 3, 3, 3, 3, 6, 6, 4, 6, 4, 3, 4, 2, 5, 6, 2, 6, 1, 5, 6, 5, 5, 5, 3, 5, 1, 6, 6, 4, 6) = 141
DC 27 Fort save reduces this to 5d6 dmg but Izmaria still has -4 on all her saves from the Evil Eye hex and also has to roll twice and take the worse result from Ill Omen
dmg if she makes her Fort save: 5d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 4, 1, 5) = 21

If Izmaria is not disintegrated by the bolt, Agata chuckles ruefully. "Desna's dentures, yer tougher 'n ye look!" Move action to Cackle, extending the Evil Eye hex for another round.

Flint proves to be right, Izmiara, the Insatiable Queen, has fled to fight another day…to where, no one knows…

You scour her boudoir, looking for signs of Janira…

The silk-canopied bed is surrounded by six 2-foot-tall statues of various humanoids.

Knowledge (History) DC35:
You identify several of the statuettes based on facial features, distinctive attire or weapons, or other unique features. Among the activated mindbind figurines are a man in the uniform of a high ranking officer in the Taldan army, identifiable as General Erestos Marburran, who led the Sixth Army of Exploration to its defeat at the Battle of Nagisa; an Azlanti man wielding a ranseur and wearing the raiment of a Runelord of Wrath; and an Abadaran archbanker who can be identified as Miliana Vistrara, the high priestess in Isarn in 4217 AR, when a virulent plague of Yellowtongue Sickness spread from Isarn across Avistan.

On the western balcony stands a horrid mass of radiant flesh, gore, and metal. From notes crudely nailed to her body, you discover this was the angel Szeria who was acting as a scout for a celestial army and was trapped by the queen; her lacerated body is now the center of an art piece in Izmiara’s intimate chamber. Perhaps most gruesome of all are the rusted hooks pulling her eyelids back, locking her permanent, glasseyed gaze upon the Insatiable Queen’s bed; the angel’s final sight was one of her enemy’s vile acts of intimacy and debasement.

The southwestern balcony holds a 4-foot square frame of adamantine around a section of the lunar glass wall polished to an impossible sheen—a mirror which is part of the wall and cannot be moved…

Flint sees no signs of tracks, other than the creatures that they encountered in the room…

From the descriptions of the statues, it sounds like she was rather indiscriminant in her selection of toys. If we break the mirror we are as likely to release great evil as we are to release great good. That runelord fellow, for instance.

In any case Marta stands watch and fixes up the angel as best she can while the others unravel the magics.

By the way, no inanimate objects or non-living matter goes into the mirror. So these guys are probably naked and unarmed.

This isn't about knowing the command word for the item, it's about knowing the specific passwords that the Queen would have created for each occupant of the mirror. Unless she's left a list of her passwords in her desk drawer, I don't think any Knowledge check is going to give that to us.

The last line - which I initially overlooked - of the magic item description (which I assumed it was ok to read since Agata easily made the Spellcraft check) says "If the mirror is destroyed (Hardness 1, 5 hit points), all victims currently trapped in it are freed." So I think we can just break the mirror to free Janira, though from an RP point of view I'm enjoying the notion that Agata is deathly afraid of the bad luck that will ensue from breaking a mirror! :-)

Janira brushes herself off before her eyes light up. ”Marta! It has been ages since I guided you thru your Confirmation! You have rescued me twice now! Next round at the Pig's Paunch is on me! And yes, I’ll echo that question, where is the Insatiable Queen?”

Flint answers Osprey and Janira.

"Yes, the queen is gone for now with a few of my arrows in her I might add. Being able to Teleport is handy when you need to get away. I doubt that she will return, at least in the short term."

Marta scowls when the absent queen is mentioned and nods at Flint's explanation, adder her own summary. "The whole lot of them were rather cagey, pardon the pun considering the circumstances. Frustrating. We did manage to put a few of them down, but the queen fled, and the vampires are probably bedded down near by since we decorporalized them. Care to join in the hunt?"

With a look that would have appeared severe to someone who did not know Marta, she accepts the offer from Janira. "Always a pleasure. In spite of the Abyssal experiences you had here, I'm quite sure you will spin them into a fascinating tale. Would you care to extend the offer to the others here? Introductions are probably unnecessary, but my companions are Flint, Theodric, Agata and her friend Sweet Maud, Allie, and Zaarah. The second round is on me."

Janira agrees enthusiastically to buy rounds for everyone; it is clear that she was here for the shortest amount of time and didn’t suffer quite the depredations of the ones who had been held longer…

Osprey informs his saviors that the Insatiable Queen has been questioning him extensively about the Pathfinder Society and specifically about the Decemvirate, with whom the Pathfinder has a unique relationship. He assumed Izmiara intended to indoctrinate one of the Ten, and fears she may already have done so—a fact made nearly impossible to investigate given their anonymity behind their magical masks.

Utomo describes to you how he witnessed Izmiara break one of the strange statues littered about while he was looking out from the mirror. The shattered figurine emitted an eerie light and a visible burst of raw magical energy. What the statues do or mean, however, he doesn’t know. In fact, these are mindbind figurines—unique statues linking the Insatiable Queen to some of her most highly placed sleeper agents on Golarion. The intact figurines located here represent a Vudrani maharajah; a sinister looking Chelish man in the raiment of an Asmodean cleric, who is a high-ranking member of the House of Thrune; an elegant female drow; a Mwangi chieftain; and a male dwarf whose skin is etched with runes. In addition to the intact mindbind figurines, the shattered remains of many more statuettes, some centuries or even millennia old, lie strewn about the chamber or displayed like prized trophies (these are the ones Agata identified with her History check)…

Then the lillend you rescued early on, Vintari, who followed you a little while only to mysteriously disappear, flies towards you and lands next to you, a look of contrition on her face. ”Sorry for abandoning you…but you have no idea the things they did to those of us imprisoned…I fear you did not have the strength to prevail and I feared being under her torture again…

“To show my gratitude for my rescue and your efforts, I can offer but a small service…I was nearby when you set off the disjunction trap and noticed it destroyed several items. While my magic is not great, I have enough to restore one broken item each back to you, if you wish…”

Any if you that still have broken items, can choose one to restore at no cost…partly in recompense for that impossible to avoid trap and partly because I forgot about the lillend after awhile…

The prisoners shake their head at Marta’s pursuit proposal, Osprey saying, ”Izmiara has more resources than those you faced here; I presume she’ll be back and in force. And while you performed most excellent, I doubt the lady will underestimate your abilities next time. We should head back as soon as possible; you have a way back, I presume?”

You can RP the end a bit if you wish but, regardless, I’ll post the conclusion this afternoon…

Grand Lodge

Moonscar

You guide the rescued prisoners away from the Insatiable Queen’s fortress, finding the golden dragon you rescued, Maurinaxian, was true to his word, having cleared the way back to the portal for you and your growing entourage of Golarion refugees…

Upon your victorious arrival back to the Grand Lodge in Absalom, all honor and praise are heaped upon you. Venture Captain Ambrus Valsin is most pleased with you all, even Zaarah, whom he earlier thought was b@t$hit crazy! You are each promised choice assignments/stations. Osprey informs you that the mysterious red masked stranger also passed on his appreciation and would be looking on your future in the Society with great interest…

With Izmiara defeated and driven away from Dominax Annuli, the demons in her service are overwhelmed by infighting as they struggle to take control of the Moonscar. You learn thru various channels now available to you that she eventually regains control of her disciples and focuses her attention solely on the Pathfinder Society, primarily you, in retaliation for their unforgivable offense.

"Thank you, Vintari. I'd be much obliged if you can restore that old battered ring... it has been in my family for generations."

Turning to Osprey, Theodric adds, "I agree. Let us return to Golarion and ensure everyone's safety. At the very least we should establish a daily protocol to protect everyone here from divinations to ensure future privacy and prevent eavesdropping by that demon wretch. Second on the agenda should be the organizing of a seek and destroy team. If we take the offensive to her, she'll be on the run and unable to put down her abyssal roots anywhere for long, and she may lash out or make a mistake. I volunteer to organize such a team, dear Osprey... with your permission, support and recommendation, of course! Before we started this mission, plans and applications for a new Pathfinder Lodge under my supervision had already been put into motion, and I'd like to make it the new lodge's priority to bring about Izmiara's destruction. Her presence here on this moon is too great a risk. With some support from the Society's mages, I'd like to establish a two-way portal in one of the locations we have secured on the moon and make it the new Lodge's headquarters. I will take the fight to her directly and personally, supported by other senior-level agents. This would be an all-volunteers force."

@GM Otha: Venture-Captain De LaMontagne will now finalize plans and construction of a new Pathfinder Lodge on the moon! Normally 50 PP, due to his VC status the cost is only 25 PP, minus 8 PP from the Lunar Liberator boon, for a total of 17 PP.

Pathfinder Lodge:

Pathfinder Lodge (50 PP)

The Decemvirate gave you the go-ahead to found your own lodge outside of Absalom. While in the same nation as your lodge, you may requisition one or more lower-ranked Pathfinders to assist you for a short time.

At the beginning of an adventure, you gain 10 temporary Prestige Points you can spend only on purchasing follower vanities. At the end of the adventure, the followers return to their normal duties, and any unspent temporary Prestige Points are lost.

If your character holds the title of venture-captain, this vanity costs only 25 PP

”Opening a Lodge on the moon? That is both cool and scary,” Alie grins as she nods at Theodoric.

Alie wasn’t sure what she was going to do in the immediate future. She had attracted unwanted attention of that awful Izmaria. Maybe it would be better for her to blend into the Society background and protect it from the inside.

”Guys, it has been so fun and exciting adventuring with you over the years. I’m getting up in age and think my time of fighting every threat might have passed. There is probably more I can do to help the society with more administrative type duties for a while. If you ever need me though, don’t hesitate to come find me!”

Of course she’d love to let her friends know that she was one of the ten, but that was a secret she’d be keeping to herself!
