Flint grimaces in frustration as he saw this in the previous fight; he’s reasonably certain Betcezia has buffed her companions and will not repeat her mistake in underestimating the Pathfinders again…

Betcezia flies up 30’ and with a flick of her wrist answers in kind, sending 5 magical bolts at Flint…

GM, just double checking to make sure you have the math right on the Dispel check. According to the Knowledge check you gave us earlier, the Marilith is casting spells at Caster Level 16. According to Dispel Magic, the DC to dispel a spell is 11 + the caster level of the spell, in which case 27 should have *just* succeeded. Of course there may be other things in play here that we are not aware of so no worries if that's the case but just wanted to check because personally Dispel Magic is one of those things that I have to reread every time it comes up.

And, again just double checking, the Enervation spell targets *touch* AC but it still missed?

@Agata - Your character should probably prep Dimension Door going forward. It is just so handy and always works. Dispelling effects is generally a 50/50 unless you have a way to radically increase your caster level. Still it would have been great if it had worked. :)

@GM Otha - Death Ward CL 7, Barkskin CL8 and Endure Elements CL 1 are all dispelled. All of his other enchantments can not be dispelled with the demon's dispel check of 19.

@GM Otha - My understanding of the Blade Barrier spell is that it only provides cover against attacks going through it. As Flint has Improved Precise Shot he should be able to ignore this cover bonus completely as he shoots through the gaps in the spell. If you disagree I can have Flint step through the barrier first before attacking. Please let me know what you think so I can take my turn. :)

Not willing to pierce the wall of blades, Marta decides to wait and do additional buffing in the form of a shield spell and get her bane going against chaotic outsiders. She also takes the time to tuck her spear away as it may come down to ranged weapons if the wall is not dispelled, which suits her just fine as long as crazy Zaarah gets back on the right side of the wall.

@Flint: I might be missing something but wouldn’t it dispel Shield before Endure Elements since the Staff of Minor Arcana is considered CL8?

And yes, you are correct; from it’s description, Blade Barrier does not block LOS, providing cover (+4 AC)…but that’s not total cover so Improved Precise Shot ignores that…

@GM Otha - My understanding of the UMD and staffs is the following. A successful UMD check for a spell trigger item puts the spell on your class spell list. As Flint is a 9th level Inquisitor (and now has Shield on his class spell list due to UMD) he can cast Shield with his full caster level of 9 as he is using a staff (and not a wand). Do you agree?

@GM Otha - Flint has Delay Poison up so is immune to the Cloud Kill spell as it is a poison effect so he will not be taking any Con damage. I believe that Marta has it up as well. It is such a good spell as the poison effect comes up so frequently. :)

I believe Extended Delay Poison, Communal has been part of Agata's standard spell loadout cast every day, which would cover us for 34 hours divided by however many recipients needed it (if Flint and Marta have been casting their own versions, I think that would mean 5 recipients, or about 7 hours duration). How much time has passed since we left the Fairy Ring retreat at the start of this day's adventuring?

If we are not covered by the Communal Delay Poison, Agata can activate Aura of Purity on her turn to give immunity to everyone within 10' (I don't think I activated it before we entered this room).

Good suggestion. I don't usually prep it because level 4 is the sweet spot for her Quickened spell slots (Ill Omen and Enervation).

Ring of Seduction - Combat (Slide 1)

Strongly Chaos-Aligned and Evil-Aligned: Nonevil or nonchaotic creatures take a –2 circumstance penalty on all Intelligence-, Wisdom-, and Charisma-based checks in the Moonscar. This penalty stacks with itself for creatures that fall into both categories (-4).

@GM Otha - The Maralith gets a free constrict with the grab. So that is additional damage and Crushing Coils effect as well. Of course Zaarah can try to parry the tail attack away if she likes. Zaarah will also be taking much less lethal damage than you currently see on the board due to Ablative Barrier and Defending Bone. This is a good thing. :)

From the edge of the cloud Flint can see both opponents well enough (IPS ignores concealment) although his enemies magical protection remains. He maintains the bane on his bow and focuses his KI for another shot on his opponents. He begins with Betzecia and will move to the Cloven Sister should the vampire drop.

@GM Otha - I am going off what I see on the map as the area of effect of the spell. If Flint cannot actually see his opponents after moving then I will revise his actions.

Agata Reflex vs Blade Barrier, runeward tattoo, four-leaf clover: 1d20 + 18 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 18 + 1 + 3 = 26 Hmm, DC was listed as 25 in the Knowledge check but I'm guessing it's 27 due to the Advanced template, in which case that's a fail. Agata has Evasion but not Improved Evasion so I guess she takes full dmg. Will wait to see the result of the spell before deciding where to move her and what to do with her standard action.

Blade Barrier caster level check vs Sweet Mawd SR 22: 1d20 ⇒ 7 That should be a success.
Sweet Mawd Reflex vs Blade Barrier: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (17) + 14 = 31 Sweet Mawd has Improved Evasion so that should be no dmg I think. Will also wait to decide her standard action.

@Flint: Sorry, I didn’t make the barrier to scale to save map space but it’s 5’ thick/wide so you can’t 5’ step thru it. Also, Betcezia currently has total cover/total concealment to all but Zaarah; she’s cowering behind the huge corpse similar to how she did in the previous room behind the pile of gore (and the corpse is larger than the pile); I only included her on the map since I assume Zaarah would point her out. Feel free to redo your action.

@Agata: Agata, you pass the DC of the barrier, it is 26 even with advanced mods…

ETA: Flint, since you rolled so well on your displacement rolls, you can keep your attack rolls for your next full attack if you wish…

@Flint: Since you are later in initiative than Alie, disregard my previous post as far as the 5’ move goes as she will take the barrier down easily…I would rule that the fog would still block your sight beyond 5’ as it doesn’t specify where you’re at in the cloud but since there’s already a 50% miss chance and they don’t stack, you’re action is good to go…with the exception you’ll need to target the marilith…

Agata (just) passes the check vs the Blade Barrier and with Evasion therefore takes no dmg.

Agata rushes through the cloud, landing on the ground by Zaarah's side, sends some unpleasant magic towards the Marilith, and then places a healing touch upon her wounds. GM, I *think* Agata is out of range of an AoO from the Marilith since she is 15' up and 15' away, but if that's incorrect then she would need to cast defensively (or have Sweet Mawd deliver the touch spell)

Alie easily dispels the blade barrier allowing Agata to provide much needed healing to Zaarah as well as stopping her bleeding…but she is unable to pierce the marilith’s SR with her spell…

Theodric flies fiercely into the Marilith slamming her with his shield into the wall…

…but she somehow manages to stay aflight and gets a pre-emptive strike with her sword…
