Alia Silverleaf
Upon getting to the main room and analyzing the situation she says, "If Jean won't, then I will." She transforms into a hawk and flies out one of the windows.
Stratton likely gets back before her.
She is back in a half hour and transforms back into her elven form. She shakes her head and finds comfort in Matthew's arms. She sobs quietly. Once she has gained her composure she then says, "We are in a Necropolis. Not much life or sun are present in the city. Dark clouds rage above us with strange colored lightning. The only thing moving were corpses. We need to find a way out and quickly, I am sure the undead will sense our lives. Many reached up to this hawk and I was only 30 feet above them. There is a 40 foot wall as you exit the building to the East. Beyond it is a better quarter but filled with zombies, further east a lone dark spire rises. Staying ontop of the buildings will likely be our best bet but there is a high chance of roofs collapsing. These slums are not well made. North there is another 40 foot wall about a mile away. So we should go South or West. Either of those directions looked like the city ended. A river is to the West but a fog bank prevented me from seeing further."
Matthew_Locke
After Alia returns and tells the group what she spotted, he reassures her holding her hand. Then he offers, "With the high chance to fall through maybe we stick to the ground?"
Stratton of Arcanium
Stratton completes the circle, returning to the building with the rest. "Seems pretty bad out there, a few pieces of people, but no signs of life. We seem to be in a slum area that has been overrun by undead."
When Alia gives her report, he nods. "The stories would place the head necromancer in the tall spire, right? Maybe there's something there that can help defeat the undead? Just spit-balling here."
Matthew_Locke
"My first goal is to get my family out of harms way. Once that is accomplished I would be interested in expelling the undead from this city. Though depending on the time once we accomplish my first goal, many of us should work on the daily quest."
Zaidel
"Although, one the up-side", Zaidel commented. "We have a small family of channel energy machines. Myself included." Turning to Stratton, the cleric adds, "I've been choosing Feats and leveling to make me a nightmare to undead. Situations like this are not unexpected."
Zaidel
"I like going West", Zaidel explained. "I think the river will give us a small measure of protection."
"Thanks to Stratton's wish and Mia's help, I can now fly for a few minutes a day. So, if needed, I could carry others over difficult terrain. Definitely NOT how I wanted to celebrate the fact."
"I can't believe we still need to do the Daily Quest in the middle of a zombie apocalypse", the satyr lamented. "But the bigger problem is what Alia said, 'the undead are drawn to life'. As sublime creatures, Matthew and his kids radiate life energy. We need to leave this necropolis as soon as possible!!"
Jean de Montes
|
"I thought we were going to the Dragon Shrine, I wonder what pulled us off to a necropolis. If this place is filled with undead, we are going to see much worse then a few skeletons or zombies." Jean says and then adds, "If you are going to ferry people, I can guard you in the air in case some of the undead also fly."
Zaidel
"Jean. Your draconic sense must be disrupted or something. We're just came from the Dragon Shrine. We leveled. But we found ourselves here as soon as we left", the satyr explained. "But thanks for the offer to guard."
Jean, level your dragon to a Level 5 gestalt character.
Matthew_Locke
"Something to know about Caiden, his luck works best for him and him alone. So when he tried to return us to New Faces it obviously didn't work for us. Though due to his luck we are likely here for a reason. As you can tell Caiden is not with us. I would have hoped that my children would have been swept with Caiden. Alas, we get to deal with this mess. So Jean if you would keep an ariel view above us, we shall begin to head West. On foot, I will take the lead. The rest of you follow at your leisure." With that said he draws his greatsword and heads out of the bar, heading West.
GM Wolf
With Matthew's speed he rushes like the wind. He finds what undead he can along the way finishing them off. He takes his time setting up when the undead get to him and CLEAVE! Off with their heads!
In the first 5 minutes there isn't much action. Mostly trying to find a route West and finding that these alleys are a maze. Then Matthew finds a small horde of zombies.
If you follow behind him by a few rounds and with Jean's help the group would not stumble into any undead.
Stratton of Arcanium
"Agreed, the children must come first. To that end, I will stick close to them as we go. I'm sure they have more than a few capabilities themselves, but after witnessing you with the skeletons, Matthew, with you in the lead we should be able to carve a swath through any competition. If any slip to the middle, I'll keep them away from the kids far enough you won't need to worry." Stratton offers, taking a position near the children as they travel,, eyes out for any hidden dangers.
Zaidel
Zaidel travels behind Stratton and the Locke children with Mia and Angelica. The cleric keeps an eye out for undead advancing on their flank.

"Arthur! Genesis!" The caydenite called in front of him. "Do you have any offensive spells at the ready?"

Before he leaves he offers his right hand to Stratton, saying, "I appreciate it."
GM Wolf
Arthur nods to Zaidel's question, "Indeed we have the boom! Nothing as flashy as a fireball or lightning bolt instead we have burning hands, magic missile, and snowball. Though being a sublime is likely the best way to hurt undead."
---
Jean warns the group to stop as Matthew is dealing with the undead ahead.
Stratton of Arcanium
Perception 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
Stratton readies himself .... just in case, getting closer to the children and adopting the formless dance stance. His movements become a graceful and rapid blur of continuous motion between the seen and unseen.

Sorry, I missed we went and then left the shrine. I will level up tomorrow.
Jean will move to lead the group using his draconic senses to avoid roving bands of undead. "This way." Jean whispers as he guides them onward.
Zaidel
"Let's keep moving", Zaidel barked up to Matthew. "We have something coming to meet our flank, but we have some distance on it."
GM Wolf
The main group likely moves forward at Zaidel's suggestion. Keeping distance from what some of you heard. Though you come to see the fight that Matthew has been working on. There is about a dozen zombies left. Piles of bodies are about Matthew and when they come in to attack him he cleaves again taking heads. Down to 8... You could help with the last 8 zombies, move West, move South, or move North. This seems like a square with large inns around it. There is about 8 different ways you could go. Does anyone scout ahead?
Jean de Montes
|
Jean doesn't hear Matthew calling out in pain or asking for help. So he motions the others to pause and scouts ahead.
Jean will move to scout to the west hoping to find the river and a way over and out of the necropolis.

Zaidel inwardly sighs as he brings The Carouser's Retort to bear.
I know piercing weapons are not very effective against zombies, but I don't want to risk using the red-glowing mace in this place, the cleric thought.
The satyr advances to assist The Sublime Matthew in clearing a way.

Zaidel moves into range of the closest zombie and skewers it. It doesn't look like it did much damage and the undead turns to attack him.

Mia Thornrose
She doesn't care to get her hands dirty, at least yet and says some magical words finalizing with, "Pew, pew"
Two magic missiles shoot forward to damage the zombie Zaidel is fighting.
2d4 + 2 ⇒ (1, 2) + 2 = 5
Zaidel
Zaidel momentarily jumps as two arrows and two magic missiles ram into the zombie he's fighting.
The satyr smiles wide back at the two human ladies. "Godsdamn, I love you women!"

GM Wolf
Stratton takes out another zed leaving only one left to be slaughtered by the group. As the last zombie drops you hear a familiar sound but you haven't heard it in Arcanium. The buzzing and ringtone is coming from Zaidel.
Zaidel
A telltale ringtone and buzzing is coming from Zaidel's kilt pocket. The world seems to slow down as he takes the new phone from his pocket, in combat, and answer it.
"Uh..Hello?"
Feel free to click on the spoiler, guys. What does it say on the caller screen, GM Wolf?
"Oh! Sorry to have bothered you? Um, we are leaving as soon as possible. Thanks. Um. Nice civil planning you have....?"
The satyr's eyes go wide as the normally charismatic cleric is fumbling for something to say.
Zaidel
The caller screen is labeled as unknown.
The voice takes a moment to reply in a confused manner, "Civil planning?"
"Yes! The streets look well planned. Plenty of room for both foot traffic and wagons. And lots of choice inns for travelers."
Bluff: 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (8) + 27 = 35| Zaidel |
"Huh?" Zaidel says, as he put his new phone away. "I might have made a friend."
Jean de Montes

Jean flies back to the others and lands. He says, "Several of the paths have undead who look to be searching for something. That something I think is a small humanoid hiding that way." Jean says as he points towards path B. He then indicates another way and says, "That path leads to the sewers. It looked mostly clear if some wanted to get the children out. I plan to go help the humanoid though." Jean waits to see what the others think.
Zaidel
"Yeah, Jean. Let's help the little guy", Zaidel nods.
Alexandr Sergeyevich Meier
Alright, lets liberate those oppressed by the forces of undead reaction! How many undeads do you peceptive guys see? I have some extra tricks available for hard fights, but they are limited in terms of per day usage
The bulky Russian speaks.
Stratton of Arcanium
"Alright, Arthur, Genesis keep close. Remember your dad wanted you to keep me, Jasmine and Ezekiel safe." Stratton winks and smiles, moving forward with the kids to keep them close enough to the group we haven't separated, but far enough back he can keep an eye out for real danger and organize a retreat if needed.
Matthew_Locke
As one of the arms grab his leg he smiles and releases a pulse of positive energy. Most if not all of his wounds are mended, they seemed to be healing on their own. He states to his children, "Stay here in the square, call if you need help. Alia, Stratton, protect them." With that said he moves to the West path.
After a few rounds, likely after Alia casts her spells, he returns and at the alley way he waves them forward, "Come I have cleared a path."
Alia Silverleaf
Alia nods and twirls her bow, as she does the bow gains girth. Then it ends up as a great club smashing into the ground. Both hands on the handle she waits. She then puts it on the ground and touches the ground. It responds to her as parts of the cobblestone from the East path flip up with cruel jagged edges. She calls upon nature again making webbing fill the alley. Then back to her club.
GM Wolf
The children and Alia head after Matthew, they soon find a pile of bodies. They get to the pile and watch as Matthew pulls one body after another from the top of the pile.
Arthur with longsword in hand goes first trying to step on chests to make the travel more manageable. He uses the sword more for support than anything else.
Soon enough Arthur is over. Jasmine and Ezekiel go next taking more time getting a bit nauseated on the way. By now many things have likely happened behind them...
Just after the rear group follows Matthew, Stratton can see a flood of zombies come from the east. They get caught up with the webs and sharpened rocks.
I wonder how quiet the group is as they go north.
GM Wolf
For those looking for the small humanoid, Jean easily points to where it is hiding.
Pulling back the top of a broken barrel you see an abandoned child, a toddler really. He sits on the ground, sobbing and unkempt. The child starts at your arrival, a combination of fear and hope in his light blue eyes. His crying subsides, and he holds his arms out to you.

The toddler continues to stretch towards Alexander and the group. If no one comes to pick it up then it stumbles forward crawling. Alexandr, do you pick up the child?
1d20 ⇒ 18 Alexandr
1d20 ⇒ 3 Jean
1d20 ⇒ 15 Zaidel
You feel an overwhelming fondness for this toddler.
As you begin to interact with the child you see one of the undead hulks enter the end of the 5 foot wide alley. This desiccated corpse wields a greatsword, its eyes blazing with eerie red light. A holey suit of studded leather armor protects its torso and extremities. Strange barbs extend from multiple spots on its body.
Though it pales in comparison to the creature that follows:
A walking tank in spiked full plate. It's armor is dented, worn, smudged, and dark. You feel like the air loses even more heat, now you can easily see your breath. In a blur it touches the hulk before it, swiftly leaves.
Another hulk follows the first.
