This is a recruitment thread for 1–19: Iolite Squad Alpha. This is a 3-6 non-repeatable scenario with a hobgoblin theme ;)
This recruitment is not first-come-first-served, I will keep the recruitment open for at least 24 h. The game will start mid-next week.
Organizational stuff:
- Up to 6 players, I may consider running 2-12 Snakes in the grass right after this one.
- Posting expectancy, 1 post per workday and ideally 1 per weekend (weekend being Saturday/Sunday)
To apply:
- Please make a post using your PC's profile, I will have a look at it. And please respond to the following questions
- How experienced are you in PF2 and PBP?
- Tell me something fun/interesting about the PC that you want to bring?
- Tell me if you would be interested in playing 2-12 Snakes in the grass after this scenario is over
Other:
- I value role-play, I will be adding bonuses to the skill checks if they are well described, nicely narrated, creative etc. I don't mind people struggling with it, I do mind people not trying.
- If you are an active PF2 GM and you run a game for me, don't be shy and step forwards. I have relatively good avatar memory, but you know ;)
- I am a relatively new GM, so expect a bumpy ride. If you can't handle rare misinterpretation of rules, some mistakes etc please do not apply.

Hello, hello, I'll take a spot if you'll have me (trying to finish out all the season 1's.)
I am moderately experienced with PF2 but get tripped up trying to keep it separate from Starfinder and PF1, which I'm also running/playing. I am at over 9000 posts when it comes to PbP here.
He is inspired by This Guy.
I would be interested in following up with 2-12.
Speaking of Starfinder...I can't remember if I played with or ran a scenario for Hellih/HK. I know I've played with the Mad Hopper.

Hello, GM. I'm pretty sure you've GMed some 1e scenarios before. This is my level 5 bard.
Manny comes from a family of vampire hunters. He dedicates his deeds and his music to the angelic family guardian, Shylye. He's had some trouble understanding nuance between good and evil, and almost left some Aspis to die in a bog. Good thing the other Pathfinders set him straight.
In terms of combat, he uses a whip and Spiritual Weapon to keep his foes busy, and then he follows up with Opportunist to provoke attacks of opportunity.
I'll gladly play both 1-19 and 2-12.

1. Kind of experienced with PF2E very experienced with PbP.
2. She is following the way of Magabayaan Magic and is all about learning all that she can. She is from Kyonin and wants to learn all she can about magic to help take down Treerazor and his forces.
3. Yes, I would be interested in the 2nd part to this.

Have not played with The Squad and would love to. I ran Snakes in the grass at a local con a few weeks ago but have not played it. I have this character and a 3rd level Champion in range. If you want to check him out, hit Zallarra's page, hit aliases and check for Grog.
Also, I don't think I have Zallarra updated to 6th level. She just hit it recently.
As for the questions:
1: Relatively used to PFS2, occasionally mess a rule up slightly due to going between it and Starfinder. :) Have been playing games here for several years.
2: Zallarra is jsut the cutest little Hag gnome ever. Less of a destructive force, more of a controller/ buff/debuffer and backup healer. Grog, on the other hand, being a Champion of Caiden Ceilin is a relatively straightforward Goblin.
3: As long as you don't mind someone who's already run it, i'd love to play Snakes as well. I'll keep quiet during the important parts. :)

I'm not *that* experienced with PFS2. I dipped my toe in the water with it early on, and kept it at that level. That said, I've been playing a bit more recently. Teja is my highest level character.
PBP I'm quite familiar with on these and other boards. I play almost exclusively in PBP.
Teja is the daughter of one of my PFS1 characters, Khellek the scholar. He's never met her, but has recently learned of her existence.
Teja, while mechanically a rogue, is as close to a scholar as I could build using the initial Core rulebook - taking after her father with that respect. With the new rogue rackets, I have thought about a rebuild that would bump her int further to give yet another skill - but she is already trained in everything and that might hurt her non-skill effectiveness.
Anyway, as a character she has come south to join the Society and try to catch up with her father (which ain't ever going to happen barring some weird PFS1/2 crossover scenarios like they did with Starfinder!)
When this is over I would be interested in playing Snakes in the Grass.

Jiki is a goblin bard whow as once an Aspis agent who got tired of being treated like any old goblin and instead switched to the Pathfinder Society, where he tries to sing his way out of trouble and make people's brains hurt when he can't.
I've been doing PBP since just before Gameday IX, and usually have a few games going at once; my job makes it easy to check in frequently. Been doing PF2 for about 2 years on and off, mostly online because my local gaming group doesn't want to shift.
Jiki is trying to learn Jotun, so while he is happy to strike up a conversation with anyone, and giants will be targeted for discussion. With the boon 68% complete, he is likely to know just enough to get himself into trouble.
I would definitely like to see some real snakes after this. Maybe I can catch one to guard my old badge.
Jiki is level 5, and I think the profile is up to date, but I need to double check it before game starts.
(Jiki was in your Gilded Test (low) and Parchment Tree games, and you played in my tables of Last Bite at Gameday X and Lions of Katapesh a while back.)

Salaish is a bard who just got to level 3. I'm still working on developing her personality. The basic idea is cheery and idealistic, but she keeps coming out too much like my PF1 gnome. This scenario and the next one seem like a perfect fit for her, since I'm planning to workshop a deep-seated need to be liked, appreciated, and admired (due to ego and mommy issues). There'll be some great character growth if when she rolls poorly!
I'm well versed in PF2 PbP, and have played in a bunch of your games (currently Itka is in Devil-Wrought Disappearance). I'd love to play Snakes in the Grass afterwards; playing a series of games with the same PCs is my preference, as it allows for more meaningful RP.

Argoni is a halfling who is is a reformed criminal chemist. He now uses his knowledge to help uncover secret and spray the battlefield with dangerous chemicals. Warning: Splash damage is likely.
I'm fairly experienced in PF2 and a lot in PbP. I've mostly switched over to PF2 now, but some things still catch me by surprise.
I would be happy to continue on with 2-12.
I hope you remember him from Seven Secrets of Dacilane Academy. We've also played in a few other games together with other characters.

It's probably a bad idea to choose me, but I shall apply anyway.
Zizark, the Mighty Dragon. A demonblood sorcerer, unaware of either trait within him. He does believe himself to be a great doctor (due to some incredible medicine rolls in An Agent's Obligation) and a master thespian (from some horrid performance rolls in The Flooded King's Court). Beyond that, he throws trash at his enemies and somehow bad things happen to them.
He will mangle the Common tongue with great glee, frustrating anyone (including GMs) who interact with him.
I've been playing PF2 for... 18 months or so, GMing it for 12. I do Play-by-post GMing on Discord, as well as a regular group in book 3 of Age of Ashes. I am finishing up GMing my... I think it'll be the 20th table, but I have credit for 15 because of bounties and quests and whatnot.
Zizark is level 5, and would need to level up to between adventures if selected. That having been said, if you're running a lower tier, I am not a good candidate for you.

Hey Farol, we've played several times together. :) (Thriss'k here, from the other PbP, among others.)
My preferred character is Arlo, a level 5 Cleric. General healer and all-round happy-go-lucky Halfling. His RP is probably the best, as I've got the best grip on his character.
If necessary, I also have several other characters available depending on party setup or tier needs:
- Dorgen Eversteel, a Dwarf Wizard (level 4). Does smarty stuff. Hates cold, yet gets sent to the snow regularly. Other than that, his personality isn't really defined yet.
- Larrathion, level 5 Ranger. Bit of a loner (as Rangers usually are), character not really defined.
- Thrass, dumb as a rock Monk (level 4). I enjoy playing him as well, because I love how dumb he is. Plus, I tend to play up the "lizard-mind" and cold-bloodedness of the iruxi.
I'm pretty experienced with PF2, although mostly low-level for now. PbP experience is also pretty good, I'd say.
I think you've met Arlo before, but I'm not sure (...wait, you played with Xun, right? All these characters start to blur together). As I said, he's happy-go-lucky, loves to travel, and likes feeding apple slices to party members. Will need to update his profile to level 5, but I've got his stats ready.
Snakes in the Grass sounds cool. :)

A young half elf woman in leather armor raises her hand and jumps up and down "Oh oh! Pick me! Pick me!"
------------------
Meadow is a ranger whose very best friend is an awesome, if ornery, owl named Silence. Probably the most interesting about her is that she was raised by a group of sprites on the Isle of Kortos.
I am somewhat experienced in PbP. I started In April of 2020 and at this point most of the PF2 games that I have played have been via PbP. I am pretty experienced with PF2, having played most of the year 1 and 2 scenarios. 2-12 is among those that I have already played and I would not be available to play it.

This is Tarondor's submission.
Rannarix would love to play! He's just made 3rd level. He's absolutely convinced he's a dragon and behaves accordingly, with a blend of child-like innocence and casual violence. He likes to grab opponents and uses the new Wrestler archetype from Grand Bazaar. His animal companion Mister Snappers is a gift from the Monkey King, an entity that Rannarix only dimly understands.
I am very experienced in both PbP and PF2e. I think my first PbP was in 1993, but my first RPG was in 1977. I GM six PBP campaigns here on the Paizo forums and another home game.
I would love to play #2-12!

GM Farol |

Oh wow, That was way more submissions than I expected. It is good to see so many folks that I played with. Unfortunately, I will not be able to run a game for all of you :( I have a capacity for one table and I can stretch a bit to run two (high and low tiers).
I gave an explicit spot to Teja (Aerondor) as he GM'ed for me plenty of times (around 5 tables the last time I checked). The rest was a mix of picks and randoms
Delta Squad (high tier) the game will start around the 7th or 8th of December
Teja
Many
Zabu
Zizark
Arlo
Jiki
Omega Squad (low tier) the game will start a week after, around the 14th or 15th of December
Salaish
Argoni
Meadow
Grandel
Grogg
Rannarix

In the future, if you are holding spots for players, it might be helpful to let everyone know about that before they sign up.
My guess is (and correct me if I'm wrong), GM wasn't planning on holding seats, but their old GM popped up and gave him a priority seat, as they said they were going to do.
