Corona levels up to 3rd with this chronicle so no problems on my end.

Rawiri is also lvl 4. SO I think we will fall into that 3-4 subtier very nicely.

I have no trouble with using Tabletop, I used it in the past. One does not need an application and it is a bit more friendly for folks using mobile devices.

With regards to the comment:

The scenario felt a little short, but maybe that's just the scenario's fault.

============

I am not sure. Every time I played 1-14 it always did feel a bit short. It has 3 fights, but not much beside it, one skill check (during the travel) and a task of protecting the camp. It took us 7 weeks (but with 1 week off due to my vacation) so 6 week realistically :|

In all honesty, I think the scenario's not that great. Very little RP or skill checks in between fights, and the fights themselves aren't that interesting either. Enemies don't have any cool gimmicks, so it makes for a meh repeatable.

You did great livening things up, don't get me wrong, I just think it's a bit of a dud.

---

To be honest, I'm feeling a bit tired of playing PbP. I'll stick around if you need me to fill a spot, but if you could replace me, I'd be grateful. It's just that I've been playing this character for a year now, and I'd like to have some time off.
You're all great people and fun to play with, so it's got nothing to do with you, I just need to recharge. :)

Concerning the scenario, it is fine to me but the repeatable part seems not different enough. The goblins are the only thing that make it stand out a bit. I had not fought the necromancer possessing the cats before so that was a change.

Well, Quentin, if you prefer to take a break, no problem. I’ve appreciated playing my character with a similar group so far, and I’m ready to go on. That will be my first time running a pbp game. I’ve run a couple PFS games when the second edition got out, feels like quite some time ago… Anyhow, it was a pleasure playing with you.

First time using rpgchronicles, that should be the signup link.

As far as I know, tableplop works in the browser and there’s no app. To me, itt is a more smooth experience than google slide on a phone or tablet. You can’t have any random slide, like those with character stats or things like that. There’s way to do character sheets, but we won’t use that so do not worry about it. I still need some time to prepare the game and I’m busy with all those games starting at the same time.

With regards to 1-14, yeah I have mixed feelings regarding the scenario. The comment regarding the fights I fight very true for a lot of low-tier scenarios played at 1-2 tier :( Frequently you fight creatures that have 8 HP and fall after one-two hits. And in here it was true as well, the last fight at least have a hole and the skeletons were a bit different (20 hp + resistance, but basically it made the fight a slog, with +6 to hit they don't hit often ;) )

Anyways! Quentin, if you are tired you should not force yourself. If you need a break than please take one.

@All - will we want to look for a replacement? And how many of them? Only 1 to get 4 ppl team? Finding someone for 4-01 should not be hard.

Rawiri is lvl 4 as well so we are heading for high tier

I'll miss you, Thriss'k, but I definitely understand needing a break! Hopefully you'll be able to recharge and feel up to dipping your toes back into PbP at some point in the future :)
______________

Got my info on the RPG Chronicles link; apologies for the delay!

I'm good with looking for at least one other person to replace Thriss'k but I also don't object to recruiting more to bump up the group to 5 or 6 players at a time either.

Still need to level Corona, which I'll try to get done Sunday since I'm off work that night.

I just realized that I assigned 4-01 GM credit to Merian already; I will bring Sunshine (aka Anschluss), a melee ranger, or Mrs. Perkins, a witch.

Sorry, I’ve been busy with all the pbp convention games.

I’m fine with recruiting more but people need to know that’s my first time running pbp. It’s been a while since I run any game in fact.

Should I just post in Cottonseed?

Meanwhile, I advanced on preparing the map in tableplop: campaign invite link.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Cottonseed is perfect, you can set whatever parameters you want in your recruitment.

Most people do first come first served (FCFS), meaning whoever signs up first gets a spot.

I don't usually do FCFS, and list who I'm giving priority to. Examples include:
- Priority to new players (for low level campaigns)
- Priority to experienced players (for Adventures)
- Priority to characters that have played specific scenarios (for multi-part scenarios)
- Priority to characters that have not played specific scenarios (for repeatables)
- Priority to players that weren't chosen in a previous recruitment

I'll also be very clear aobut expected pacing (1 post/day, 1 post/2 days, 2 posts/day, etc), because there's actually pretty wide variation. The fastest players will be annoyed by the crawl of the slower games, whereas the slower players will be annoyed at the pushiness of the fast games.

---

I mention all this because we should probably have a discussion about whether we expect new recruits to join in the GM rotation. If so, that should be stated up front, so everyone recognizes it's more than just a commitment to play one repeatable scenario (which will likely draw a lot of interest IME).

Vigilant Seal

I think it should be stated up front that this is a GM rotation group and that we strongly encourage potential recruits to take their turn at the helm. That said, we should also be willing to help out any newbie GMs who would like to play and maybe like to GM but are feeling anxious about taking that first step. It's either that or those of us that are already willing to GM will need to be okay with having to do so a bit more often than initially expected.

I also agree with Watery Soup re: posting expectations. While I don't know how it will intersect with people that would also be willing to take a turn at GMing, we should probably consider giving priority to people who haven't already played this particular repeatable.

I would also add, that that individual should have lvl 3 pc, as we all are in that range, and soon we will be done with 1-4 repeatable, so we will naturally gravitate towards 3-6.

I am okay with looking for someone.

I’ve been busy with my niece and my own birthday that was celebrated yesterday (Saturday), which added up with the usual weekend stuff.

I believe I was the last GM in rotation, every one else run at least once. Do you all want to go on and hope that new players also do so? I was thinking I could give another try at running another game for the group, depending on how it went for my first one.

I was going to mention that I new to pbp gming so players would know what to expect.

For speed of play, I did not think of mentioning it, I was planning on a 1/week day, 1/week end. I thought that was standard but it might have been because that’s the game I managed to get in.

Lately, I’ve remarked that despite the 1/week end speed, some of the game expected a post while it was already the week-end for me.

For the level, I had thought of it.

Another question, do we look for another player, or several?

By the way, if you have played the scenario before and want to avoid ending up having the same random elements, please put details in a spoiler.

I was expecting some answers, then I was caught up with all the play by posts games. My apologies for this.

I’ll post a recruitment post tonight so we can start that scenario and we’ll see later about anything beyond it.

Apologies! Here are my opinions.

To be frank, I'm not that excited about running the 1-2 and 1-4 repeatables, as I've experienced them all multiple times now. I'm open to GMing again, but with the 3-6 repeatables.

Quote:

Our historical pace is considerably slower than that. I'm concerned that someone who actually expects 1/day would be disappointed.

Quote:

I don't have much of an opinion. In a GM rotation, I think the commitment of the players is paramount (I'd rather have a 2-PC game where everyone is one the same page than a 6-PC game where 4 of the PCs are going to drop out when it's their turn to GM). If this is our last game, more PCs is always more fun and it's good to open up seats to the community.

Can someone open the recruitment thread so we can direct potential players there?

I’ve put the announce in Cottonseed. Feel free to chime in over there if I forgot anything.

Here to post interest for the rotation. I like as much of my PbP as possible to be in consistent, long-running groups! I have two characters in the 3-6 range, an Alchemist 4 (who's finishing up a GD scenario right now) and a Sorcerer 5 (who's available now).

Hi guys! Good to see you here :)

@勝20100 - Your recruitment post looked good to me! Apologies for not responding to your questions earlier; meant to and completely lost track of things. I'm definitely up to keep going but I also understand Watery Soup's reluctance to keep doing 1-4 repeatables so I'm good to try and start fitting in some of the 3-6 repeatables instead.

I've only played one 3-6 repeatable and that's Star Crossed Court. I have 2 lvl 3's -- a Cleric of Nethys and a Swashbuckler (she's played Star Crossed Court).

Hey, isn't it the Dimmest of Pales and Palest of Dims :D Hey PaleDim.

And Gm Tiger, he is everywhere. You can't find a table without him, on Paizo and Discord :D Good to see you!

I second/third/fourth the sentiment, about repeatable and levels. I think I played 1-4s and Gmed some of them already. Which is not the case for 3-6 (however I am not sure how many of them are there).

p.s. I created recruitment thread if in the future we need it

There are 1 per season so far: 1-23, 2-06, and 3-13. I've played 1-23 twice, GMed zero; played 2-06 twice, GMed zero; played 3-13 once, GMed zero. So I'd be happy to play or GM any of them.

I don't have any 3-6 repeatables prepared. However, I do have the 3 lvl 3 Bounties prepared and I've been meaning to prep Q9 (Wayfinder Origins), which is a repeatable 3-6 so I can do a Bounty/Quest run if needed.

Hello hello. I can be flexible on these parameters. So I won't impose any additional constraints. 3-6 is the highest range I have right now.

From the ones mentioned (3-6 repeatables) I only played Star Crossed Court once, and never played/GM'ed any other.

I also did not play any lvl 3 bounties nor q9 repeatable (altho I did prepare to GM it, but my team bailed :( I must have did a tremendous impression :D)

So what are we playing next?

I think the plan was for 20100 to GM 4-01 (a 1-4 scenario hehe) next. They're the last in the rotation; we did 99-01 (Quentin) and 99-02 (Ladile), 3-01 (me), 1-06 (rainzax), 1-14 (Farol) and we're starting 4-01 (20100).

There's 1-01 and 1-10 remaining, and I'm happy to go first for one of the Tier 3-6 scenarios.

Tableplop

Sorry, the weekend has been busier than I expected. I’m going to run Intro of the Year of Boundless Wonder which I have not played yet.

If you’ve played it, send me a pm or put a spoiler. If you have any details on your run, I can try to make it different.

We played The Second Confirmation and United in Purpose, but I do not think Sunshine was there. Maybe she did it anyway or got some credits for it?

Please sign up over rpgchronicles then join in tablepop. The aim is to go for the higher tier.

While we play, we can try to figure out what will be the next scenario. I’ve played 1-23, 2-06 but not 3-13. I can run any but I’d prefer to do one I’ve played.

If you want to go for the higher tier, I'll jump in with a Lvl 4 that hasn't played this. Don't know how you're set for healing, but I have a medic I can bring...

My issue is that I have little access to Tableplop from work so I might end up delaying my turn during combat.

GM Vincent:
I have played 4-01. To complicate matters, I just played it with the free character (Sorcerer 5), which means I would have to play it with the Alchemist 4 who is not quite done with his gameday game.

Has anyone played 2-23 (An Agent’s Obligation)? It’s a 3-6 non repeatable scenario.

I've played 2-23 already.

I've played, I think, every nonrepeatable scenario in Seasons 1 and 2 except for 2-21, and then 3-01 through 3-05, 3-07 through 3-10, and 3-12. And then, randomly, 4-02. (I would have joined your 3-06 if it didn't fill so quickly!)

If it's the limiting factor, though, I can sit one out.

Tableplop

I wanted to start the game as it’s already been one month since we ended the previous scenario and most of that was due to me not moving things along.

I wanted to give tableplop a try but if you prefer some slides, I can do that too.

We wanted to go for the high tier as all the characters we played so far are high level enough. But Rawiri is not available at the moment as he’s on another mission, Merian already did it. Maybe going for the lower tier would be best?
I’m waiting for that to be resolved before proceeding further.

As you’re all experienced gm, I do have a question. How much information or progress do you put into a single post? I was wondering where to stop. I went that far ahead because I wanted to know which characters would be in to have Rain react appropriately.

I have no other characters to play this scenario, if we want low tier, I will either create a new character or sit one out.

Tableplop is fine. I only mentioned it because I've had problems connecting from work. Since I'm the only one using it, I never really bothered troubleshooting the problem -- it's probably using ports our firewall doesn't like... If we want to go low tier, it's fine as well. I have a lvl 2 Investigator (Soup and Farol have met her) that I'm looking to level up to 3.

In terms of how much info - hard to answer since it's a matter of feel. Sometimes I go beyond the "boxed text" (i.e. the "read or summarize below") because the boxed text doesn't always make the situation clear.

btw, we have played together before. You were in my B12 on Discord with Poil de Fraise. :)

Regarding 2-23 I both played (at Watery Soup table) and GM'ed it. Great scenario! But that is why we stick with repeatable, otherwise finding a scenario that someone did not play is super hard.

Glad to see you there :-)

I changed “Poil de Fraise” for “Strawberry Hair” after that game. I don’t know when or if I’ll go back to play locally, and I prefer to avoid getting the nickname Poil for the character (that means hair, but the one not on a head); Strawberry looks better.
