I need to finish stating up my summoner. I’ve got a couple of ideas, but nothing finished for now.

Merian is built using SRD materials, but I do not yet own the book.

I'm probably driving to three bookstores tomorrow, then Monday, then Tuesday, and buying the first copy I see. But it looks like we need to wait for 20100 anyway.

Whistles innocently:
I have no qualms about starting before I own the material. I'm committed to buying it (my son's been asking every 2-3 days since August 3rd!).

If we're going to start early next week, I suggest Quentin look into registering this game for Gameday - there's essentially no downside (just set it to private recruitment), and we'll get extra AcP.

I just realized that Corona and Smell of the Pines can't benefit from my extra Hero Points, since they already had some from Ghul.

Ghul and Rawiri, then!

There’s no mention of being able to use hero points on one’s eidolon, unlike familiar and animal companion, so I guess Smell of the Pines does not need any extra point, or he will use it for out of combat checks.

With all the players shuffling in and out, I completely lost track of how many players we had. I could've sworn we had 6, but apparently there's five. In that case, you lose one Minor Healing Potion and a few gold pieces (the gold doesn't matter, it's 6 per person). >_>

Also, the scenario mentions several times that you can use gold to gather more information, but it's never explicitly mentioned. I've asked in the GM thread, but no reply so far.

Yeah, what is funny, we never had 6 players ;)

We had 6 volunteers to do the GM Rotation => 1 GM + 5 players.

We lost 2 -> so we went to 4 (1 GM + 3 players), we recruited Watery Soup -> brought us to 5 (1+4). And then rainzax missed us and came back -> 6 players (1+5)

Rawiri: I'm not sure if this is in character, but you might be mistaken. In case it's not clear, this is what happened:

But everything that could go wrong for poor Rain in Cloudy Day went wrong. After bad weather delayed his voyage to Cassomir, Rain ended up spending all his remaining gold on increased inn costs. During his one-night stay in town, half of his provisions were stolen, along with the pack mule he had stabled at the inn.
Things might've gotten lost in my fluff text, for which I'm sorry. The innkeeper's telling the truth.

Ha! No need to apologize, Rawiri can be as confused as a player ;) And threatening the wrong person is ok :D It is not, but you know what I mean. So what I read is:

- Bad weather, he got late, innkeeper charged him extra (I know countries in which this is the norm, I am not a big fan of this practice but ok)
- He had his belongings stolen - unrelated to the inn
- he had his mule stolen, that he had stabled at the inn - are those two facts unrelated? The mule was stolen, leshy had stabled it in the inn? Or is it: While the mule was stabled in the inn it was stolen? ;) As this I would recon is the responsibility of the Innkeeper => you put mounts to stables so that someone takes care of them.

If the innkeeper is innocent let us play it this way, Rawiri scared him

Maybe the language barrier plays up here, but I don't see the difference between the two. >_>

The way I read it, Rain stabled the mule at the inn, went to sleep, the next morning the mule's gone.

And yes, the inn is completely unrelated to the mugging, there's no foul play here, apart from upcharging the room.

Ok, I understand now. I went with the assumption that Inn takes the responsibility for mounts/animals kept in the stables ;)

I am fine with intimidating the man just to make him explain that he had nothing to do with the mugging, Rawiri will not draw the knife or do anything beyond threatening.

At first, it felt leashyfishy that so many bad things have fallen on an individual in a short duration. I misread the facts a bit, but I am fine owning the mistakes ;) Who knows maybe the innkeeper arranged the mugging and Rawiri will stop the serious junior Pathfinder mugger mafia. Or maybe the innkeeper will call guards who will put me in a luxury prison for a night and will spare me from my nat 1 Fortitude save.

1. I believe that is true.

2. I just realized that we should have a discussion about Merian's exploration activity. She's encumbered during Exploration, which means she has a land speed of 10'. (Azarketis have a 20' base.) This is likely half speed for everyone else. Since Exploration activities are usually half movement and half something else, it would make the most sense if Merian didn't have an exploration activity - she just carries her barrel.

The other option is that she slows the whole party during Exploration.

She'll drop the barrel (as a free action) on her turn when combat begins, so she'll be clumsy 1 until her first turn. But I had thought that part through before.

It’s a circumstance bonus and they do not stack.

Merian was tracking if I undestood correctly, as she rolled Survival? If she is not tracking but scouting, Resinosa will just search.

If she does not do any activity as mentioned above, it will indeed scout.

I think it's location-gated, you need to be from the Gravelands/Eye of Dread to take it. Not 100% sure.

In the interest of full disclosure, I think Merian's background is also location-gated (only characters from the High Seas can take it).

The text before the feats in page 90 of Lost Omen Character Guide indicates that “The following class feats are available to Knights of Lastwall”, which is an organization not a region. In PFSOP, it means you only need the Secondary Initiation boon to get access.

1. THanks for botitng, killing the creature and Hero Point ;)

2. The thing about fascinating performance is correct but:

The battledancer style says:

`You gain panache during an encounter when the result of your Performance check to Perform exceeds the Will DC of an observing foe, even if the foe isn't fascinated.`

This leads me to believe that I can do multiple Fascinating Performance vs a target. They are immune to the effect but it still may give me panache.

==============

For botting purposes, no matter what style given swashbuckler is their turn could be:
- Tumble Through
- Attack with finisher

As it can be used always, dex is the highest stat for swaschbucklers and most of the people play their swashes like that (which is the most effective way).

Actually it's not all of them. The one based on Intimidation can only do it once, as the panache case speaks when you demoralize someone successfully :(

I'm fine with a broad range of paces. On the fast end, I can keep up with about 1.5 posts/day before I feel stressed, and 2 posts/day before I fall behind. On the slow end, usually I like to complete before the next convention (so I can plan to use or plan not to use my character), but since this is a series, I'm very open.

I will probably bump the Discussion thread or spam the Gameplay thread with inanities if there's a 48-72 hour pause, though.

Oh yeah, I'm happy with the 1 "big " post a day I'm doing right now, wouldn't do it any faster. Combat's the only exception, where I update ASAP when everyone's turn has been (those are also relatively easy to update). I definitely don't expect you to reply more than once per day, though I do tend to throw in smaller posts to reply to people.
And yeah, I tend to bump after a 24 hour pause, to keep the flow going.

It might have been a better idea to attack with such a roll… I also have no idea if Bless/Inspire Courage adds to the roll.
From Trip action:
Critical Success The target falls and lands prone and takes 1d6 bludgeoning damage.
Success The target falls and lands prone.

Didn't find a good answer on my own. I asked in the Discord ("Question: Bless and Inspire Courage give status bonuses to attacks. Is that specifically attacks that do damage (Strikes), or also skill checks with the Attack trait, such as an Athletics to Trip?") and the first answer was:

They [Bless and Inspire Courage] say they buff attack rolls, not all attacks; those Athletics [attack]-trait maneuvers are skill checks, not attack rolls.
The bard composition cantrip song of strength does buff Athletics checks (but not attack rolls).

I'm not 100% convinced, this seems like a trivial distinction, but usually the devil is in the details. But yeah, if this is the correct reading, Bless and Inspire Courage only affect rolls that apply sword to face, not things such as skill checks to inconvenience them.

I'm not 100% convinced either, unless the respondant was a VO. Skill checks and attack rolls are not mutually exclusive - just because Athletics is a skill check doesn't mean it's not also an attack roll.

MAP would suggest it's an attack roll.

Calm-Emotioned creatures can't make hostile actions and they can't Trip.

BUT

Unless someone's character is on the line, I'm fine with whatever you as a GM decide as a field ruling, and if it turns out you chose poorly, oh well.

Trigger (Horror):
Was going to link He Chose Poorly in the main text but I guess I should spoiler it.

I don’t think it applies.

I’m also wondering if the trip trait on a melee attack with agile, would lower the multi attack penalty like it does for attacks. I need to check that one out before it comes into play.

You can nest spoilers - but the inner spoilers can't have titles.
