Sorry for the delay.
To answer Vincent's question - yes, the DC 10 Athletics to swim is probably not required for calm water. However, the slide on underwater combat does state that if you don't have a swim speed you are FF. Also when I played the last special, which also had underwater combat, every time I didn't bother spending at least 1 action to swim I'd be FF (and sink). So this is also where I'm basing the ruling on making the check at least once per round.

If I can interject, there's often confusion about underwater combat, and part of the reason is that the rules are spread out over multiple places.
There's Aquatic Combat, which includes Drowning and Suffocation, but there's also information under Swim, and also under Aquatic Environment.
There's a fair amount of GM discretion so I'll let the GM GM. :)

Hmm. The 'Swim' info was most helpful. Therefore, ok - I'll waive the check required but if you don't spend at least 1 action to swim, you'll be FF (you'll start sinking). :)

Thanks for the clarifications.
For Pathfinder 1, I just remember one of the last book about aquatic combat had an interesting buoyancy system where one could either naturally sink or rise. There was equipment and spell that interacted with that rule. I found it an interesting system.
Pathfinder has a rather forgiving aquatic/swim system, making the environment more as a twist rather than a complete game changer.

For future underwater combats, only the 1st Athletics check is waived (i.e. so you don't sink). You'll need to make an Athletics check to see how far you move. It's kinda hard to stride under water :)

Folks, I'm under the weather -and- busy with taxes. If I am a player, please bot me. If I am the GM, I'll be back as soon as I can.

![]() |

Get well soon.
Now you've done it! I'm seeing a scorpion filling out a 1040 form...

![]() |

The box stopped working during the night, I don’t have Internet at home anymore for now. I just took time during my lunch break.
Ok. Will bot you if needed.

![]() |

Folks, I want to apologize for my absence. It was a combination of several personal things going on, filing taxes (I own a few businesses so it takes awhile) and having a fairly bad case of bronchitis (which I’m still not over). Nonetheless, I wish I had posted to let you all know I’m still alive.
My plan is to return to all my games tomorrow (Thursday the 20th).

![]() |

Sounds like a lot. Hope the bronchitis lets up quickly!

![]() |

Yeah, take care of yourself Tarondor!

![]() |

I’ve got a work dinner on Thursday’s evening, I don’t expect to be able to post that day. I’ll try to check the boards in the morning and same the following day.

![]() |

I'm going to get a bit more aggressive with botting since we're a bit short on time. We're almost done but the last segment is a combat segment with quite a few moving parts...

Ok. I said I was going to reveal the saboteur.
You guessed right - it was Odru. What was frustrating for this group was that those to interviewed Odru failed the skill checks. As written:
Odru is in the midst of prepping for a complex procedure, though she makes time to answer questions as she assembles her equipment and scrubs in. A PC who succeeds at a DC 20 Diplomacy or Medicine check can interview her; if this check is successful and Ordu is the saboteur, she slips up and drops a hint that she is planning something complicated unrelated to the surgery. She has a collaborative and nurturing personality, so compassionate approaches decrease a check’s DC by 2.
Examining the coral has an added check of finding 2 items - one belonging to the saboteur, and one red herring. Odru's item was the holy symbol of Gozreh (so in reality, you had a 50% chance if you'd guessed).
I also misread the scenario which worked in your favor. If you crit fail the check AND Odru is innocent, you believe she's the saboteur. But I erred in your favor :)
You could have accused anyone at any time. Had you guessed wrong, it would have resulted in an additional mudwretch.

Final Encounter! If you want your downtimes included in your chronicle, go ahead and roll them. :)
Not sure if I'll have Internet Service at home. If I don't update in a few hours, I'll update tomorrow. Looks like we might finish on time. :)

btw, who's next in the rotation?
When we last had this discussion (scroll back a page to February 2023), it seemed like PaleDim was preparing to go, but I don't think we ever finalized it.
History:
99-01: GM Kwinten (Ladile, Watery Soup, Vincent, Farol, rainzax)
99-02: GM Ladile (Watery Soup, Kwinten, Vincent, rainzax, Farol)
3-01: GM Watery Soup (Kwinten, Farol, Ladile, rainzax, Vincent)
1-06: GM Kwinten (Ladile, Farol, Watery Soup, Vincent)
1-14: GM Farol (Vincent, Kwinten, Watery Soup, Ladile)
4-01: GM Vincent (Ladile, Tiger, Farol, Watery Soup, PaleDim)
2-06: GM Tiger (Pirate Rob, Farol, Vincent, PaleDim, Tarondor, Watery Soup)
PaleDim, Tarondor, and Rob haven't GMed, but I'm not sure if they were expecting to, or want to. I'll go next if none of them want to.

Trial? You're a lawyer?
I am!
Is Mr Snappers going in with you? ;)
Wouldn't that be awesome?

I am happy to GM next, but I have not actually started preparing a specific scenario. If I can have a little bit of time to prepare that would be great. I.e., conservative estimate of starting over this weekend and if my week ends up better than I think so be it :)

What I have to choose from for after 2-06:
#1-09 Star-Crossed Voyages (3-6)
#1-20 The Lost Legend (3-6)
#1-23 Star-Crossed Court (3-6)
#3-03 Echoes of Desperation (3-6)
This was my "already purchased" list, but I'm not against buying something new either.

Of course we haven't finished up here, so I suppose I likely have at *least* that much time. In any case, once we agree on a scenario I'll get moving.

![]() |

I haven't played either 01-09 or 01-20. 01-23 is a repeatable which I have played. I've already played 03-03.

Nobody would dare object to anything with a scorpion the size of a Labrador beside you...
"Mr Snappers, hand the doc to the judge please..."

I've already played 1-09, 1-20, and 3-03.
I've played 1-23 twice but not with any character that could currently play it.
That's probably a good enough reason to pick something new.
Oh, one bit of disclosure: while I'm generally free in the near future I am away in the wilderness (and from computers) the long weekend of May 26th (evening) through May 29th (Monday). I hope everybody is okay with a short pause then.

Alrighty, so then the repeatable #1-23 Star-Crossed Court (3-6) it is?

![]() |

sure. I'm going to need to find another 3-6 (of which I have a few) since Tiger will be busy for Paizocon.

![]() |

are you saying you'd rather go sooner to *avoid* July/August?
