=======================

A fun fact, once I've been to an open national park where you could have joined to see cheetah being fed. It was at an open space, surrounded by a fence, but there was nothing separating you and the animal and the park worker. The gentlemen had a bucket of meat and would throw it to the cheetah to capture, every now and then I would play like that with my dogs.

Anyway, before entering I had to sign up waver, a standard one so that if something goes bad I will not raise charges. In the paper, they asked if I had at least 18 years and if I weighed at least 50 kg (around 110 lbs). I asked a few people in the park why and it was the park ranger in the enclosure who told me that cheetah hunts prey that is smaller than 110 lbs, and they had situations when small and thin people would come in, and the cheetah would begin to sneak upon them.

You can flank them now because they're at your height. If they were flying higher (10'+) I'd say you can't flank.

Rawiri, I like your Command suggestion. However, Command has a specific list of orders you can give. "Drop prone" would be the closest, and as a GM, on a crit fail I'd allow it to work. :)

(This wasn't to criticise your actions, just a clarification that Command might work differently than you thought.)

It is written “usually”, that’s why I put conditions.

1. As a general rule, I'm pretty sure Command is limited to only those suggestions. I've always seen it GMed that way.

2. In this specific case, I think jumping in the water falls under "running away as if it had the fleeing condition" and would rule it as such unless someone had a clear reason why that couldn't happen. Unless it crit fails, it only performs the command for 1 action, anyway, so if you were more than 25' from the water, or if you were closer to the water than they were, I think I would rule differently.

Re: Assisted Recovery

In general, I'm fairly lenient with Assisted Recovery. And that's because I don't see it used often, so I try to encourage it whenever players try to use it.

Jumping in the water to douse flames is an acceptable way to use Assisted Recovery, and while in general it should take two actions, I'm not concerned about allowing it to only use one action in this case - where you're attacked by fire elementals on a dock.

I'm ruling one action is fine in this case, and it's an automatic success.

Most importantly, the rules for Persistent Damage uses "usually" liberally and is specifically dependent on the situation. What seals the deal for me is that it also says,
"The GM decides how your help works, using the following examples as guidelines when there's not a specific action that applies."

As a GM, I'd say spending an action to jump into the water is a totally fair application. Unless it's napalm or something, I see no reason why the fire wouldn't go out when submerged. Hell, Persistent Damage literally calls out that specific interaction:
"Automatically end the condition due to the type of help, such as healing that restores you to your maximum HP to end persistent bleed damage, or submerging yourself in a lake to end persistent fire damage."

Wasn't meant as a criticism of any kind, just my opinion on the matter. :)

(he/him) | Troubles in Otari | 2-24 | 1-24 | Icons: ◆◇↺

I always invite discussion in good faith and it's one of the reasons I like the GM rotation format.

Unless there's a clear ruling, I usually come up with reasonable rulings on either side and go with the Rule of Fun. In this case, I could argue the water is too shallow - you'd need an action to move in and an action to submerge yourself. I could also argue being in the water is sufficient because your whole body isn't on fire.

In the end, it's an intro scenario, it's a relatively unusual position of fighting fire elementals by the water, and Assisted Recovery is underused, so I lean towards the ruling that favors the PCs. If it were a 7-10 scenario with a more questionable premise like splashing in a puddle, I'd probably lean towards "nah, gotta be 2 actions."

Hmm, interesting. So, one weird thing about bloodseekers is that they don't actually grapple their targets - they count as grappled for incoming attacks (they are flat-footed and they move with their prey) but the target never gains any conditions.

Still, it makes sense the bloodseekers would take the fire damage. I'll add it to the tracker.

@WaterySoup are we coming close to the end of this scenario? If so the schedule says that next GM would be me.

==================================

@WaterySoup do you intend to stay with us for the remaining 3 games? As initially, you promised to stay for the first 3 and see how it goes.

==================================

We were talking about me running 1-06 which I still intended to run. I played that scenario twice both times with lvl 1 PC's (as that was beginning of PF2). I never GM'ed it, and I liked the story and structure of the scenario.

Could each of you specify:
- If you played 1-06 Lost on the spirit road and if yes how many times and with what variation (you can describe the main enemy - in a spoiler as there is a chance that someone might have never played it :|).

I would like to warn you, I took a bit more tables on myself during Outpost but I will try for it to not have an impact on my GM'ing. And with a bit of luck some of the games will begin to finish at the time when I begin this.

I talked about a trip to Japan last year. We bought plane tickets, they got canceled, bought others, and are hoping they are not canceled or that we will able to get a close date. We should be there in May. I plan on bringing a laptop and should be able to post.

I’ve run 1-06 in February of 2020. That’s one of the three PF2 scenario I’ve been a gm for. I’ve played it online in 2020 August.

I've played 1-06 once, maybe twice, back in the beginning of PF2. I took a quick look at the enemy names and none of them rang a bell for me, so I'm pretty sure I go in blind regardless of route.

If your GM load is too much, I'm sure some people can shuffle around (I can GM again, if necessary). No need to stick to promises made like 6 months ago.

You are entering the final combat, but it may be a little longer than a standard combat because of environmental things like light.

Rawiri wrote:

Thanks for remembering. Short answer: yes, as long as the game doesn't move much faster than it does now.

Long answer: I think those of you in multiple games with me may have noticed I slowed down quite a bit in December/January. My personal schedule changed, so I have less time to play (bad for my Pathfinder games, but good for me overall). This is the event that I was concerned about when I only committed to 3 games. My schedule may change in the future, but not so much as it did a few months ago. Basically, if it's been okay for the past few months, it'll be the same for the next few.

I've played 1-06 at least once, and GMed multiple times. I don't mind playing again, and would probably bring Merian back.

It is sad to see you leave, but I understand.

===========================

With regards to 1-06, let us see how the situation looks when we finish this scenario. I would like to run it, and the running a scenario for 4 players is a bit easier: fewer questions, fewer enemies etc.

At the same time, I will then select the variant of the scenario that I haven't played ;) And I want to GM 'my part'.

It would be more comfortable for me to not GM this game during my vacation. I am leaving for 4 weeks. I could ping you in a month and see if you would be open to joining the game.

But I also know that in a month there will be paizocon, and you may want to play it those PC's at other tables.

Alternatively, we can depart with me giving you 1 Farol point ;) You can swap them for a seat on one of my tables. I usually do open recruitments when I select players (I learned that from WaterySoup, as in fact I hate first-come-first-served recruitments), if I see you at one of my recruitments you will just get a spot.

Ooh, Crashing Wave sounds cool. I've GMed it once already, it's a cool scenario. Definitely interesting with Merian and Rawiri/Thriss'k (Team Fire) :P

Anyone any recommendations for a 1-2 scenario? If not, is everyone familiar with the PFS Tracker? I can pick a scenario this weekend to prep and (slowly) start going by Monday.
