Mathematically, it should be hell XOR high water!

Okay folks, introduction post is up! I also have a couple of requests to make:
(1) Please fill out your character information on Slide #2 and your marching order on Slide #3. If you have any trouble manipulating the slides and/or making a token for yourself, please let me know. The link to the slides can be found --> here. You can also find the link to the slides posted in my GM header.
(2) Please fill out your skill information on the spreadsheet located --> here. This makes it much easier for me to roll Secret Checks and such for the party since it formats the information for me.
______________
While I do have a decent amount of experience now in playing Pathfinder 2e, this is only my third or so game as a 2e GM. Please bear with me as I'm still learning and will probably make some mistakes here and there. I am by no means versed in every class or their abilities, so it would be very helpful if you make a note when you're using a specific class feature or other special-case ability so I can read (or reread) up on it, if need be :)
As a GM, I greatly enjoy roleplay and encourage creativity in tackling the challenges that your characters encounter. I'm much more likely to allow unorthodox methods if you can convincingly roleplay it or lay out your thought process on why it might/should work. So generally, unless you're attempting something that flat-out won't work per the rules of the game or per limitations dictated by the scenario, I try my best to work with players and what they want to do in a given situation.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head but if you have any other questions on how I roll as a GM or what my own personal ruling would be on a 'expect table variation' issue, please don't hesitate to ask!

I have two glyphs as well. If I recall correctly, Ghul has two too. That would mean 5 total and everyone starts with 2.

Smell of the Pines grabs a scroll of heal for his item.
Aside from getting his spell slot back, it invests the wayfinder he got from the last mission with the thanks from Rain in Cloudy Day.
Thanks for the hero point too.

Hey folks, just checking in - I've been in a bit of a funk for the last few days but I'm hoping things are starting to shift back to normal. This unfortunately happens to me sometimes when the days start getting shorter and there's less daylight to be had.
I've got to get some sleep but I'll try and move things along later this evening. Thank you for your patience.

Glad everyone liked the individual responses and apologies that it took me so long to kick things along, again. This week has been nuts with work and outside commitments -_-
I believe I accounted for everything in setting up this combat but if I forgot something, please let me know and I'll do my best to fix it/account for it!

To confirm that I'm understanding the mechanics/process for Fascinating Performance correctly, Rawiri has to roll a crit success to actually fascinate/incapacitate an enemy in the middle of combat *BUT* even if he doesn't get a crit success he still earns a point of panache as long as his roll beats the Will DC of the target - correct?

Yes, that is my understanding as well

GM Ladile |

I'll give Rawiri & Smell of the Pines a little longer to post, seeing as how the weekend might've been busy for folks with Halloween (or other) plans. That said, I do look to hopefully resolve the current combat soonish as we still have a fair bit of ground to cover in the scenario :)

Sorry, I was just busy. No Halloween here, just spent less time on the computer than usual during the weekend and while the 1st of November is a day off here, my parents came to visit and spent some time with us. My elder son is going to their house for the rest of the week. I’m probably going to have a little more time than usual, but less during the next weekday when I’ll spend several hours in the train to bring him back home.

![]() |

Yeah sorry about that. I was attending mantrailing workshop this weekend, and going back from it was super exhausting. We don't have Halloween here but a day similar to Dia de los Muertos, but with less colors and interesting folklore. As a result, plenty of people are driving to visit cemeteries and their relatives.
That makes for huge traffic, and traveling being super tireing.
Anyway, I am back now. So should not delay any further.

![]() |

hehe, Merian will be fine. I know there are plenty of Verdant Wheel scenarios, but Merian just wears her emotions on her sleeve. :)

GM Ladile |

So...not only did I head out of town for a few days but I also completely forgot to mention that I was doing so and I also did not take my Chromebook with me.
(Not that I would've had the energy to post at the hotel at night, as it turned out, but still.)
I am back now and should have no other foreseeable happenings that would keep me away from the forums for multiple days. There'll likely still be some single-day commitments here and there, mostly relating to the upcoming holidays, as well as occasional work busyness that prevents me from posting but hopefully nothing major.

I hope those who celebrate it had a Happy (US) Thanksgiving or a Happy Thursday if you don't. There are many things that I'm thankful for and one of them is all of the great people I have the privilege of playing Pathfinder with - like you guys :)

A belated Happy Thanksgiving to everyone (who celebrates)!
I'm thankful for PbP specifically, getting to play VTT is pretty hard schedule-wise for me, and F2F is pretty hard for me and basically impossible for the kids.

![]() |

Yeah, late: Happy Thanksgiving! I came back to RPG via PBP and I must say it is my favorite type of play. Every now and then I do VTT but I can't squeeze the amount of RP that I want within games, and it is way tougher to find a block of time to make it work.
And yeah, I like that I found a group of players/GM's that I enjoy playing :)

GM Ladile |

Btw, you guys are actually doing really well, all things considered!
You're just dealing with DCs that are, I think, a little on the high side for an expected party of 1st & 2nd level characters + the CP scaling requiring you to make additional success(es). All three of the options for this encounter have the same DCs to hit so I went with the one requiring the skills that the majority of you are trained in/can feasibly attempt.
*edit* Your GM has no opinion on the matter proposed by Smell of Pines over in Gameplay and is inclined to let Ghul's player decide if they're okay with potentially taking one for the team.

Ghul Fortitude (Negative Healing) vs Heal: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
I believe what happens is that Ghul is harmed while Unifax is healed. Here is the text:
Share Senses
Lastly, the connection between you and your eidolon means you both share a single pool of Hit Points. Damage taken by either you or the eidolon reduces your Hit Points, while healing either of you recovers your Hit Points. Like with your actions, if you and your eidolon are both subject to the same effect that affects your Hit Points, you apply those effects only once (applying the greater effect, if applicable). For instance, if you and your eidolon get caught in an area effect that would heal or damage you both, only the greater amount of healing or damage applies.
My read is that because Heal is not "subject[ing] [us] to the same effect that affects [our] Hit Points" we don't "apply those effects only once"... but GM may have a different read altogether!
Here is a Rules Thread on precisely this issue if that helps!

![]() |

Just an idea. Since disabling is 2-action, we still have 1 action left. We can always do:
Odd Round
2-action disable
1 action move away (step out of range)
Even Round
1-action move back
2-action disable
that means that during every second round people would be away from the damaging threat of this haunt. Unless it damages everything in huge radius

![]() |

Lough, is that your agreement to be healed, or just a "for fun"-roll? I think most of us are waiting for Smell of the Pines's action.
EDIT: Also, I get moved to in front of the haunt's initiative, as that's where I got knocked out.

GM Ladile |

Yep, just waiting on Smell of the Pines to post! Since Ghul's given their okay I'm also open to botting SotP if they've not posted by later this afternoon.
And based on the thread that was (helpfully, thank you!) linked, I'm inclined to err on the side of applying both affects and splitting the difference. If this ever gets further clarification I'll adjust accordingly.

勝20100 |
Sorry for my lack of updates, busy with work and end of year planning.
I had the same read of the rule as rainzax, that Unifax was going to get healed while Ghul had to roll to save. Otherwise the greater effect between healing and taking damage is difficult to determine. It can also be argued that healing is positive (increases hit points) and damage is negative (lowers hit points), the greater effect would be healing.
Edit: I should have read the thread first, that’s all in there.

GM Ladile |

Hey folks, I hope everyone had a good holiday if you celebrate or a good Saturday if holidays aren't your thing! We finished up the last of our festivities a short time ago so I look to be back to a more regular posting schedule later today/tomorrow (since it's very early Sunday here) :)
