One of my question concerns tableplop. Did you enjoy using it?
Tableplop seems fine. It seems no different from Roll20, or Google Slides, in the sense that we used it.
And for me personally, that's a negative. I hate leaving myself signed in while these sites gather all sorts of data on me, and I dislike having to sign in repeatedly every time I want to check my games. I like Paizo because their 1990s-era website doesn't harvest data, and I tolerate Google because I have to.
I know some of these sites are more powerful than Google Slides, they can do more stuff. So, if enough people use it that I can sign into it instead of Google, I'm happy to use it. If I need to sign into it in addition to Google, I'm unhappy.
Corona Meridian |
Tableplop itself is fine and it wasn't too hard to get a few basic things set up once I fiddled around with it. Perhaps it's an age thing (because I'm certainly no Luddite) but I'm just getting to a point where it annoys me to have to make yet another account on another website, especially when I'll likely only end up using it a small number of times.
GM Tiger |
Personally - not a big fan of Tableplop, mainly for the same reasons Corona mentioned. It's not something I use on a regular basis, and even then, it's from the standpoint of a player. It seems to be catching on with the Discord crowd, though...
Farol |
@Corona - thanks for playing with us. I totally understand and respect your reasons to step back. I am sure we will bump into each other on the boards!
@勝20100 - regarding tableplop, I used it in the past already, and I don't mind it. I know that it is easier to move your token on mobile than google presentaiton. I also know that if you know how to use it, it is easier to set up a map allign the grid etc.
On google presentation the easiest way is to copy and paste the map, which then could be moved. If you want to use it as a background image, it has to be in the right proportions to not be stretched (for the map squares to still be squares ;))
With regards to GM'ing, I liked it. I played the scenario once in the past, so I knew the story. I think you handled the positioning on the map well, the same as making the decisions to either do more research or heal. That made the fights more challenging.
The part that I did not entirely liked (but it can be personal feeling), in couple of fights the initiative was so divided, that I ended up posting ever 2nd or 3rd day. That very quickly resulted in me loosing the energy for the scenario. I know that for some it is not a problem, but for me it is ;) That is why when I GM I would cluster the initiative more (moving people to create groups), just to minimize the amount of times when we wait only for 1 player.
But other than that, i really liked it!

Question - Are we going to try to fill the table?
Still need:
Macros - Smell of the Pine
Slides - Smell of the Pine, Elsha Ustosh
勝20100 |
I’m fine with either way considering recruiting more.
I’ve done Smell of the Pine’s level 3 choices so I’ll go ahead and fill the sheets. I’ve yet to update its gold thought. I might just grab a wand, I do not remember anything else that could be interesting at his level yet. I also need to look at crafting as this is usually his downtime activity.
Thanks for the feedback everyone.
Edit: I just selected Investigate for the exploration activity. Isn’t the initiative supposed to be on perception in that case?
Resinosa usually scouts but will switch to search if someone else is scouting, which Sunshine seems keen on doing.
Anschluss |
Sunshine only scouts because his Perception isn't great, so it's better for him to Scout and let someone with a higher Perception Search. If others have lower Perceptions, he's happy to Search and let someone else Scout.
GM Tiger |
I don't know if Treasure Vault will be sanctioned soon though... (or has it already been?)
GM Tiger |
So what's the plan? If we're going to fill the table, Farol probably needs to put out the call (since it's his table) :).
Farol |
First, I removed 'old' players from the campaign: Removed Lady Ladile/Corona and Quentin (who was still 'active').
So what's the plan? If we're going to fill the table, Farol probably needs to put out the call (since it's his table) :).
There is an interesting train of thoughts here. But could we first specify what are we looking for? Meaning. Are we looking for players only: Tiger to run their table and potentially PaleDim to do his? (I am not sure if you even expressed interest in GM'ing ;) here).
I just would want to be explicit.
PaleDim |
I joined a table that was rotating so I assumed I'd do my part at some point. We're talking about after this next 02-06 game, correct?
GM Tiger |
I only have 1 3-6 repeatable scenario prepared so unless you want to play 02-06 multiple times... :)
PaleDim |
What I have to choose from for after 2-06:
#1-09 Star-Crossed Voyages (3-6)
#1-20 The Lost Legend (3-6)
#1-23 Star-Crossed Court (3-6)
#3-03 Echoes of Desperation (3-6)
GM Tiger |
I've played 03-03. I think 1-23 is the only repeatable? (though I haven't played any of the others)...
Farol |
Yeah, I also vote to play 1-23 (repeatable that I played only once before).
=====================
Regardless of the above, are we looking simply for 2 players to fill up to six that would play with us the two scenarios (2-06 and PaleDims one?)?
Or are we looking for folks to join the rotation and do GM'ing of their own (as we will get short on the repeatables).
GM Tiger |
Or are we looking for folks to join the rotation and do GM'ing of their own (as we will get short on the repeatables).
I'm just along for the ride so either one is fine. You can ask Chadius -- he's got 01-10 (Tarnbreaker's Trail) ready. I've played it at least twice but both at low tier I think...
GM Tiger |
So what's the plan -- am I starting or are we getting 2 more? I can run 01-10 but it's going to be really clunky because it will be the first time I'm going to run it :)
Farol |
And here are the two newcommers, @Tarondor and @PirateRob welcome onboard,
In the campaign details there are links to RPGChronicles, maps and macros. Please go ahead and fill in your details. The current composition that is playing is:
- Sunshine - swashbuckler lvl 4
- Elsha - alchemist (bomber) lvl 4
- Smell of the Pine - summoner lvl 3
- Rangi - druid lvl 4 (a PF2 mirror of Scarred One)
So I guess your rogue and ranger (both lvl 4) would fit in nicely.
GM Tiger |
if you'd like, I can go back to back and run 01-10 (Tarnbreaker's Trail) to keep the lvl 4 (if you're not in danger of levelling up). Just be warned, it will be my first time running it so it might be clumsy (I've been meaning to prep it for awhile now and this would be the incentive I need!) :)
Snarlfist |
Snarlfist is actually 5, just need to update his profile. Snarlfist has played 1-10 but I've got plenty of characters, surely one of whom can play 1-10
Depending on timing I may be up for running a game eventually (Post April 15th)
Edit: Filled in the things above.
勝20100 |
I’ve played 1-09, 1-10 and 1-23 on other characters. I’m open to play any of the scenario mentioned before.
My pfstracker info should be up to date.
I need a pause from running the previous game and if people are willing to go my second Pbm game, I could run something at some point. I plan for it to be quite faster that my first run.
Watery Soup |
Alright, so I've been a bit negligent in contributing to the discussion.
Are we still committed to doing #2-06 with GM Tiger next? Or is that being re-evaluated?
All my experiences with repeatable 1-4 and 3-6 scenarios:
#1-01 (1-4): Played 3, GMed 0
#1-06 (1-4): Played 2, GMed 4
#1-10 (1-4): Played 2, GMed 2
#1-14 (1-4): Played 2, GMed 2
#3-01 (1-4): Played 1, GMed 1
#4-01 (1-4): Played 3, GMed 2
#1-23 (3-6): Played 2, GMed 0
#2-06 (3-6): Played 2, GMed 0
#3-13 (3-6): Played 2, GMed 0
I'm happy to play #3-01, #1-23, #2-06, #3-13; and on top of that, I'm willing to play #1-10 or #1-14. I would probably sit one out if #1-01, #1-06, or #4-01 was chosen.
I'm happy to GM all of them besides #1-06 when it's my turn to GM next, but only minimally willing to GM #1-06. My reluctance isn't because it's a bad scenario: #1-06 is actually my favorite repeatable (and along with #1-14, the ones I carry around with me at conventions for impromptu GMing) so I don't want to wear it out.
---
On the character side, I have a lot of characters in range and currently open:
Emdi Emmay (champion 6): has credit for 1-01, 1-06, 1-10
Potipher Perkins THAT'S MRS PERKINS TO YOU (witch 4): has credit for 1-06, 1-14, 4-01
Anschluss "Sunshine" (ranger 4): has credit for 1-06, 3-01, 4-01, 3-13
Merian Seiche (magus 4): has credit for 1-06, 1-14, 4-01, 2-06, 3-13
Peter Plus-Haut (bard 3): no 1-4/3-6 repeatable credit
Bechamel Mornay (magus 3): has credit for 3-01, 4-01
GM Tiger |
Everything's filled out for 02-06. If you're all willing to wait a bit, I can submit it for outpost for the extra AcP...
#1-01 (1-4): Played 2, GMed 0
#1-06 (1-4): Played 4, GMed 0
#1-10 (1-4): Played 3, GMed 0
#1-14 (1-4): Played 4, GMed 0
#3-01 (1-4): Played 6, GMed 14
#4-01 (1-4): Played 6, GMed 7 (including current games)
#1-23 (3-6): Played 1, GMed 0
#2-06 (3-6): Played 0, GMed 1 (2 if you include this one)
#3-13 (3-6): Played 1, GMed 0
Doesn't apply here but just for completeness:
#2-11 (1): Played: 3, GMed 5
Pirate Rob |
#1-01 (1-4): Played 3, GMed 8
#1-06 (1-4): Played 6, GMed 5
#1-10 (1-4): Played 4, GMed 7
#1-14 (1-4): Played 6, GMed 3
#3-01 (1-4): Played 10, GMed 1
#4-01 (1-4): Played 2, GMed 3
#1-23 (3-6): Played 5, GMed 1
#2-06 (3-6): Played 4, GMed 2
#3-13 (3-6): Played 4, GMed 0
2-11 (1-2): Played 5, GMed 0
No strong preference between waiting or playing. I've got plenty of characters and am not in a rush and still have plenty of achievement points despite making my last 2 characters a skeleton and an android runelord.
GM Tiger |
Rannarix, please complete the Macros and Slides when you get a chance.

Mostly on Discord. Until 04-01 came out, 03-01 was my favorite scenario to run... I ran it for the first time during GDX, hoping for a low tier game, then suddenly 3 VO's piled in (Redeux, Mike Hallet and Pirate Rob). Ended up with a High Tier game and a bunch of confidence at the end. :)
GM Tiger |
If you want to post character introductions, go ahead. Without posting anything from the scenario text to set the scene:
You're at sea.
GM Tiger |
Rannarix, you should get to know "Scarlet Pimpernel". Your animal companion and their eidolon sound so similar I must apologize in advance if I should accidentally question why you're in 2 tables simultaneously...
Their eidolon is "Mr Chompers"... :)
Rannarix |
:-). My conceit is that the Monkey King -did- send Mister Snappers, but Rannarix is too oblivious to have noticed. That's why he roleplays with Mister Snappers, because in the little story in my head, the scorpion was sent to offer wise advice that Rannarix never listens to, so the big bug sighs and just helps out with the combat instead.

I didn't see us on the map, based on the description I started on the boat, happy to retcon as needed.
I knew I was missing something. Map updated.
GM Tiger |
Can someone bot Smell of the Pines please? I have no idea on how to play a Summoner (which is why I've never made one)

Oops. I'll claim fog of war :)

Think nothing of it. My first move (edited before it went out) was all about attacking the token that turned out to be Rangi.

Friendly fire! friendly fire! :D
That is why I stick to the rule of keeping one shape of avatars for PC's and the others for enemies and NPCS. I saw folks changing avatars for raging barbarians, I do that for my other druid with animal form. So when in doubt you can always follow shape.
Then at times, when some NPC is pretending to be an ally you can mess with players keeping their avatar in the shape of PC's.

FYI: After tonight I'll be away in nature all day tomorrow, but then back Sunday mid-afternoon'ish.

Do our character need to do swim checks on top of spending the actions? The swim action indicates that it is not needed in most calm water, that’s why I’m asking.
If checks are needed, does having a swim speed makes the check necessary? It seems it is only needed “in hazardous conditions or to cross turbulent water”, which I think a DC 10 does not reflect.
