Ok everyone,
I'm about to head off for two weeks - I was hoping we'd be at a solid point to do that, but it doesn't look like it.
Rather than trying to GM and post meaningfully from a place with spotty internet at best and having people wonder what's up (especially hard to do roll20 on a phone, let alone one with bad service) -- so, I'm instead going to press the giant "pause" button here -- right as Fiona and Sahar are about to see that it's a child of about 7 years old rocking and crying in the grass -- and those not looking down at the kid are going to notice grass moving in a straight line toward them (and maybe even a fin in the dirt if your perception rolls are good enough).
So, you get 2 weeks real time to plan out what to do about all that - and then second guess yourselves and that plan -- hells, you'll probably convince yourselves the kid is the quickling in disguise by the time I'm back.
... and maybe you'll even be right.
... or maybe not.
Either way, I'll be back on the 16, well-rested and having had time to think up even nastier thoughts... and, let's be honest, grumpy that I'm not still on holidays and in need of poor players to take out my frustrations on. (That is to say, I plan on pushing the pace upon my return).

Soooo,...
I felt like crud all day yesterday, and this morning. So I went to the clinic.
Yep. I has 'The Cuuf' ;P
Gotta isolate for the next 10 days,
But I DO qualify for a 'Antibody Infusion', so I will be getting THAT as soon as they call me back to schedule it! :)
In teh meanwhile, I'll post as long as I feel up to it. :P
I have a feeling this will get worse before it gets better. :(
Ragadolf |
No. You do not want. ;P
It is a roller coaster. Admittedly if I did not know it was 'The C', I would probably think it was my usual mid/end of summer stress illness, and not worry about it. (So far, it is not any worse than those. Much) ;P
BUT since, to mis-quote Loki, "I am burdened with Glorious Knowledge", I am required to take it more seriously. :)
Ragadolf |
Feeling better now, (finally)
Got the Infusion last Tuesday along with my wife, That stuff does work.
Still have to wait 'forever' before allowed to return to work. ;P
And of course SON has it now, missing first full week + of his senior year. Sucky way to start a senior year. :P
Dr is hoping he just 'fights it off'. Apparently thats a thing for the young? ;P
But he's not (yet) sick enough to provide any other meds for. Yet.

Well, even the new fun flavour that nobody asked for is still generally survivable for the vast majority of people -- especially those who were vaccinated. So I'm not surprised that they'd not rush the expensive infusion on someone who's likely to be ok without signs otherwise.
That said, the whole 'long COVID' thing seems pretty terrible, so I can't say the potential for that sounds great. (It's one of the reasons that I keep getting upset at the people screaming [usually inaccurately] about survival rates. Diseases don't buy into the "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" thing -- but it seems that people have now forgotten fun things like post-polio).
I'm not loving watching the numbers slowly creep back up here, but they're working on it. On the plus side, the Feds announced that without a medical exemption, the entire public service will need to be vaccinated (as will anyone taking planes, ships or interprovincial trains) right before pulling the trigger on the election call -- so that'll be useful, at least.
Tilnar |
....um, as I'm updating the combat numbers (for no reason at all, certainly not because something's bursting out of the ground to eat Sahar and/or her horse), I note that Merlan's still a nice light level 3 snack, rather than level 4.... And given that another level of Wizard gives him a new spell level, it might be very useful to fix that?....

Yes, sorry, been busy, between recovering and work (University starts next week) I have been a big stressed mess!
This Fall was supposed to be smooth.
But it is all falling apart at the last minute.
Too many rules, none of them 'official', and all conflicting. :P
My poor head.
I will update soon as possible, promise, I recall I took Glitterdust as 1 of his new spells, (for obvious FAE reasons) but cant recall what the other one was. Or if I even finished choosing it. :P
Sorry, School starts next week, and I should get back to some form of normal.

Should be able to post tomorrow afternoon.

No worries. As long as it doesn't do more than 14 damage next round, I'll be okay. :D

Ooh that's better than I thought.

Holy cow, I havent read the witch all the way through yet, but details like that I see why they are popular. :)

My experience with them is limited (I've been wanting to play one).
I get why people say "forget spells - hex all the time"

Yep, I see that now. Especially at low levels! O_o

I will say from experience the biggest witch weakness is v. undead. I suppose taking an elemental patron so you can make with more blasty spells helps -- but the bestest hexes are all mind-affecting (so, undead are immune), and there's no magic missile or disrupt undead -- and undead are usually immune to cold, so Snowball's not your friend either.
But, other than that, hexes rock -- evil eye, especially -- and even nicer when the penalty doubles at level 8. ;)

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Don't worry, I'm sure no one would even consider sacrificing Merlan to the landshark.

Nah. He'd just be an amuse-bouche.

Hah,...
Wait,... what?!?! O_o
Actually, I was packing to bugger out yesterday early AM, and then my wife turned on the weather channel and saw it had move (JUST a little bit) to the east. We eventually decided to stay. And now it has gone a little further East, and is almost missing us entirely. :)
We will still get SOME of the weather, (and it IS bad) but we're on the outskirts of the West side, and with it further away we won't get much.
In fact middle of the night last night, My inlaws from Houma (Further south, basically where Ida hit land) called and asked if they could stay with us. 'IF it looks bad'.
At 3:30am they arrived. :P

”Ugh. Do these things have no instinct for self-preservation?”
Actually... No. They're mostly mindless eating machines that attack prey bigger and meaner than they are without regard for their own safety.
Ragadolf |
Thx for the stand-in, being 'distracted' by life, work, and in-laws,... who may be staying for a while. :P
Their house is standing, and while it has damage, it is 'minor' compared to a lot of others you have probably seen on the news.
BAd news is, the entire city has no power or water. (As in, Houma has no power station I hear. it is GONE.) So no telling how long before they can actually go back and stay in their mostly-intact house.
Good thing I actually like these folks. ;)

Interesting. I rolled damage for my arrow and posted it last night (rolled a 4), and now it's gone. Probably due to whatever problem was causing the forums to constantly fail out yesterday. Likely they did a rollback and undid my post.

Goin' on a trip and not taking a computer. I'll have my phone, but not planning on posting much (if at all). I'll be back Wednesday or Thursday.

Personally, apologizing for absence. Dealing with in-laws hanging out due to no power etc in their town, (Houma) and we OPEN our Show Xanadu THIS friday,... so,... feeling a little stressed.
I mean, a little more than usual. :P
Will try to stay caught up, but I am busy. And still get tired really easy since recovering from Covid. (Otherwise fine. slight lingering cough/sore throat. Just TIRED) So I not usually feeling up to playing on PC when I get home. Apologies for any continued silence.
I will keep up as best as I can!
Thank you,
Ragadolf |
Just FYI, just finished our first of three weekends of Xanadu, the musical.
SO much better with an audience. Even a small one. (We had like 7 people the first night, 'sold out' (maybe 175 seats? TINY theatre) the Sat, and a decent sized group the Sunday matinee)
Even the TINY audience was SO much better than NO audience.
After working on this show for a year and a half (two years for the director) The jokes were getting stale for us. ;P
Of course I'm over here making rookie, amateur vocal mistakes.
Like, first moment on stage screaming at the top of my lungs. With out a proper vocal warm up.
Yes. I know better. And once my voice recovers over the next four days i will be VERY careful not to do that again! :P
Anyway, should be semi-normal posting for the next few days. After that? All bets are off! :)
Tilnar |
Ok, that's 3 for, 1 lightly against but ok with the majority -- so I'll have peeps moving on and bringing the child unless something changes - allowing another few hours for such posts, though.
Ragadolf |
I was logging in to apologize for my absence. This week has been 'fun', yeah 'fun'. :P
Latest fly in the ointment? The roof repairs I had done to fix what the fly-by-nighters messed up? Yeah, the parts they fixed are good,
BUT they messed up the back side of my chimney, so NOW I have an entire wall in my garage full of mold & mildew, and a soaked work bench, including batteries and power tools.
:(
It. Never. Ends. :P
To quote the greatest super-hero movie of all time (The Incredibles)
"I'm not happy Bob. Not. Happy."
;P

Wandage is generally better in situations like this (outside of combat, no big rush to all heal at once).
