When I built my character and her horse, I was sure she had a bow. Couldn't find it. Then I remembered I put it on my horse, and it was indeed on the horse's equipment list.
I went to the horse's entry to put the gear into containers, and couldn't find the shortbow in the gear list.
HL gave the bow to the horse as a weapon.
BTW, she's not a good shot at all.

I shudder to think of the stacking of non-proficiency and lack-of-hand penalties... Plus there's surely one for lacking the intelligence to use tools, including manufactured weapons.
..of course, it may just be that she really wants to be a centaur? ;)

Ok, since people seemed to want it, here you go. Instant wiki, just add wat -- er, information.
I've started a structure that *I* thought made sense and even put in stubs for some stuff -- but feel free to adjust as you see fit.

Anyone interested in Teamwork feats for the future? Here are a few I thought could be interesting:
Back to Back (not quite as interesting)
Blades Above and Below (don't know if we'll have any small PCs)
Blood for the Empire
Coordinated*
Harrying Partners (this one is probably my top choice)
Lastwall Phalanx
Outflank
Paired Opportunists
Seize the Moment

New Houserule...
I've been reminded of how ugly a Feat tax Combat Expertise can be - but at the same time, going all "Elephant in the Room" is a step too far for me.
As such, I am creating the following Trait (Combat):
Clever Combatant
Your early training has emphasized that your mind is your most powerful weapon in combat, and that outwitting one's opponent can often count for more than skill at arms. You may use this trait as a pre-requisite to qualify for feats as if it were the Combat Expertise Feat, as long as your
Intelligence is 13 or higher. You still need to meet the other prerequisites of those feats, as normal.
Having done that, I'll go stick it in the wiki.
Oh, and Brainiac - no problem with the Bloodline, though we may need a small chat about what the possessing entity is offline. :)

I am always interested in teamwork feats for front-liners.
I currently use Precise Strike in another game (gives you and a flanking teammate 1d6 precision damage even if it's not a class ability) and I like it, especially as my normal damage output is meh.
Harrying partners will take a while for that +6 BAB :(
Back to back isn't bad! I hate being flanked.
I don't see half of those in Archives of Nethys or aonprd. Arg.

They're all there -- (except Coordinated -- there are Coordinated x-feats though, e.g. Charge, Defense, Shot, etc.) on the Teamwork Feats subpage.
I will say that Outflank for +4 to hit is awesome (especially if people have Gang Up or something else that makes it easier to flank - Hunters with their animal companions, for instance) - and I will also second how Precise is snazzy (though most of my experience with that was an Inquisitor with solo tactics).

Not me. Build your character.

O_o
Thx. (I think?) ;P
Yeah, the first one is a dud, as far as my area is concerned so far,. Weather man even stopped showing it on his map for this last report.
The SECOND one is gonna be a doozy though. At Cat 2, I'll watch it carefully to decide if I run or not, depending upon its exact path.
At Cat 3, My mother's getting some house guests for a couple days. ;P
Lani Bralani |
Here's my character, Lani Bralani, gnome sorcerer.
Background: Born in the gnome community of Whistledown, Lani was a typical member of her ancestry. She enjoyed games, jokes, and experiencing everything the world had to offer. At least, until the nightmares began.
When she was still a child, she awoke screaming from a particularly harrowing dream. She could only recall vague details of strange, alien beings assaulting her and warping her mind and body. The memories lead to recurring night terrors, dulling her mood and making her especially tense and jumpy.
When Lani came of age, she made the pilgrimage to Magnimar, hoping the big city could provide a remedy to her problems. And indeed, it was there that she fell in with the mystery cult of Ashava the True Spark, empyreal lord of dancers, lonely spirits, and moonlight. The azata's teachings spoke to her very soul, and the gnome obsessively immersed herself in the cult. Lani soon manifested her sorcerous abilities. Taking the surname Bralani in honor of the azatas she emulated (and because it rhymed!), she pledged to use them to help others like herself, to save souls that have lost their way.
Unfortunately, as she set off on her mission, it soon became clear that the source of her sorcerous powers was something more sinister than an empyreal lord. Rather, some sort of malevolent spirit had lodged itself within Lani's body, suffusing her own soul with its own. Intense research lead Lani to believe that the spirit is somehow connected to the wisps of the Ghostlight March in the Hold of Belkzen. She has journeyed to Lastwall from Varisia to study this phenomenon further and seek to understand the spirit and what it wants from her...

What the...?!?!
How did I miss that page?
I swear the page I was on was completely different. I can get to the page above quickly and easily and can't find the other one.
There's alternate reality stuff going on here, I just know it.

Sorry, I'm really stuck in analysis paralysis:
Ranger (shapeshifter): Track, Animal Aspects, Companion (@4th), Spells (@4th)
Hunter (Feral): Track, Animal Aspects, Companion, Spells (1/2)
Druid (Wolf Shaman/Feral Shifter): Aspects, Companion, Wild Shape (4),
Spells
Shifter (Tiger/Style/Lycan): Track, Improved Animal Aspects, Wildshape (4).
I'm so torn on the options, initially I didn't care about an Animal Companion. But it could be fun inconcert with Treppa's horse. The Hunter has some options for Teamwork feats for Oladon. Although I'm not super interested in alot of spells - some team healing is good. Certainly I don't care about summoning animals for combat.
There's some fun unarmed combat feats, like panther style.... which works well with the "Saved" campaign trait.
Tilnar |
From experience a hunter with Outflank (and Pack Flanking) is ... well, nasty. Especially since your companion gets all your teamwork feats (at 3rd) -- so you're always flanking for a +4 bonus.
And, as you said, can synergize nicely with others with teamwork feats.
Then again, a ranger can get to Trapfinding a lot more easily that other classes. And Boon Companion can be your friend. ;)

DSX, realize that my horse is essentially decorative because I don't have the class features to level her. I can't even give her armor proficiency to add barding, and I don't want to burn any of my feats or traits to progress in mounted combat.
She'll probably end up being a meal one night. That's appropriate, because she's mostly flavor.
When I built this character, I completely forgot that leveling horses was my own house ruled system for my long running campaigns. I used to allow horse HD advancement if players invested ranks in Handle Animal and Ride skills and paid for (or spent downtime) training their mount. In RAW, that doesn't happen. High-level adventurers are doomed to walking because their horses are toast the minute they meet anything near their CR! :)

But the free trip is awesome! ;)
Lastwall is Temperate in climate - and contains the northern part of the Fangwood, which is literally an enchanted forest, and large plains... and, of course, the Belkzenian influence would also make "orcish" companions possible.
So, as a local, appropriate companions would include:
aurochs, axe beak, badger, bear (normal or grizzly), bird of prey (eagle/hawk/owl), bristle boar [orcish thing], boar, small cat (lynx or mountain lion), digmaul, dire bat, dog, elk, falcon, horse, moose, ram (normal or mindspin), giant raven, sabertooth cat [from the Fangwood for sure], giant skunk, stag, warcat of rull [orcish thing], giant weasel, wolf or wolfdog.

Hey all - somehow in my complete ineptitude, I forgot that there is more than the recruitment thread. Now that I found this, are you all still waiting for me to come up with a concept? Or do you already have a party. I really like the Apocalypse Mystery Oracle, except the revelations really suck (sad face). Thinking about the Whimsy Mystery. Yeh, not the most powerful, but seems like something to build on, and with all the personalityless characters I have seen being thrown around (Ranger? Shifter? Druid? Warpriest? Gnome? (okay, possessed gnome sorcerer might have some personality), I figure that a fey touched oracle with the wrecker curse (everything she touches turns to sh*t) sounds like fun.
If you all want me around, let me know and I will keep working on this. Have to run games Thursday and Sunday, but hope to have a concept before next Monday.

Sadly, not the most effective version of hide barding, in terms of protecting her from harm.

You're certainly still quite welcome, Tirion - I think we oracle could be an excellent addition - even a whimsical one. ;)
Wow. I just reread that. And this is why I don't like to post from my phone.

Depends on the marinade.

We on track to get started on Monday?
If not, what can I do to help make that happen?

I wouldn't worry about the group too much, DSX. In my book it's on the DM to tailor the story to the group, and while sometimes the group will have "deficiencies" that need addressing, more often they're opportunities for some fun roleplay and/or clever solutions.
If nobody wants to play a trapfinder (for example), then in my opinion the story shouldn't require one.
