I don't suppose the falchion is actually a fauchard? ;)

OK< The Wizard has returned from 'rescuing' his daughter from the Evil Giant Rodent Empire.
(AKA= Disney College Program)
I had to drag her back kicking and screaming, but I have returned.
Well, PHYSICALLY at any rate.
MENTALLY may take a few more days. :P
As soon as I catch up on my REAL work, I'll work on My pbp's! :)
Fiona nel Mare |
I think your priorities are backwards there, Rags... ;)

Hello,
So I survived my surgery. (Yay?)
But I literally cannot sit up right now.
I can recline, or I can stand. (I am typing this standing at my desk right now) ;P
Hopefully on my next Dr visit (Tue, Sept 6) I will be able to sit up straight again. THEN I can catch up on everything. :)
Have a good week!
~Rags,...
Ragadolf |
Hello all,
I am so sorry.
Remember what I said about 'being able to sit up in a chair like a normal nerd'?
('Painless' was the word I used?)
yeah. Not so much. :(
Add to that, this past week has been determined,
DE-TER-MINED,
to both p!$$ me off, and break my piggy bank.
>_<
Monday- Daughter talking me sitting at dinner table, tells me she doesnt feel good, (She had been having 'tummy trouble' for a day or 2) and passes out. (Doing a complete unconscious backflip out of the chair to the floor) Cue panicked wife spending hundreds of $$ and hours in an ER to be told; "We don't know what's wrong with her. She looks fine. Drink more water".
Tue- My one good news,
And then discover that they left out some particular details about how much harder and longer this recovery would be than my previous one.
Wed-Thu- go in to work (Against Dr orders, dont tell my Dr!) to be eyes on and make sure certain things happened properly. And even though I did not personally touch any of the physical work to be done, just getting out and around wore me out and caused me pain.
Fri- sewer drainage in house backs up, and I have to call a 24 hr plumber to clear it and then clean the mess(es) it made. Again, pushing myself too far.
I NEED to be patient. Patience is a virtue.
Sadly, it is not one of MY virtues! ;P
This rant brought to you by an aged, recovering wizzie, who is VERY sorry to be slowing down the fun and adventure. (Both of which he sorely needs right now!) And he promises to catch up as soon as he can.
Thank you,
Treppa |
I went to the doctor's office in a hospital building the day before. I was looking for the hand sanitizer, but I didn't see it anywhere. 24 hours later, boom.
I don't know why they took the hand sanitizer out. The stands and dispensers are a sunk cost. And they had sanitizer before COVID was even thought of. :/
Ragadolf |
Ah, yep. That would explain it.
Yeah, but everyone is so over having to put out he extra expenses for the past 2-3 years (depending on where you work) that some are deciding not to pay to refil the dispensers anymore. And I think others are just over it and forgetting (intentionally or otherwise) to order the refills. :P
My wife works with grade school kids, and is well-stocked with her personal purse-sized hand sanitizer refills.
(It doesn't keep her from catching things, but I shudder to think how sick she'd always be if she didn't use it!) ;)
As I said, get better quick Treppa~!

Hello all,
Sorry, been busy this week, (week long show rental)
And when I get home I have barely enough energy to sit in front of TV like a lump for a bit before passing out for the night. ;P
I am 'officially' better enough to go back to work.
Still cant PHYSICALLY do anything, but I'm back to tell everyone else what to do in person. :P
JUST in time for the busy season to get BUSY. :(
I will, as usual, try to keep up. :)
Thank you!
Hope all are well? (Or at least getting better?)

Seems like we're at an impasse? We don't seem to have a way to open the lock but people are worried that the orcs will get into it first. I don't have a good solution.
Tilnar |
To be fair, that's why the game allows people to retry a bunch of skills -- so they can futz with things until they figure 'em out.
Not everything allows that, though.
I mean, I'm certainly one to grant a circumstance bonus if someone spends some time carefully studying it (better if they have skills to make that work) - but even that presupposes that you have enough base skill to understand what you're seeing, that you have full access to everything, etc.
All that to say, if someone wants to risk it, they could maybe try to unlink the locks. Downside being that they might end up messing up the mechanism so bad it'll never open again.

Happy Holidays, Heroes.
It's a magical time enough to melt the cold, evil heart of your GM - at least a little. So, I caught the bits of thawed liquid, bottled it up, and now it's yours. Seems I bleed Hero Points, so that's one for each of you to use as you see fit - even if this one would put you above the maximum.
Also, not that we've actually been moving forward anyway (I've had some work stuff that's prevented me from kicking everyone, plus I know that real life stuff's been messing with some of you, so I'd have felt bad doing it), but I'm officially putting us on a Holiday Hiatus -- both because of the Holiday season, and for my actual holidays at the start of January.
That said, I'm really hoping that when we resume, we can actually go back to a place where there is progress and posting -- so I'm hoping that the time off will give everyone a chance to rest up and think of what they'd like to do next, so there's movement and momentum.... That said, anyone who wants to take this pause as a time to bow out, that's fine too -- no hard feelings.
So, all that to say - looking forward to picking this back up January 23rd with a group who's ready to roll... (and, ideally, has finished its shopping).
...and, in a less game-related vein -- an actual real, genuine, heartfelt sort of Happy Holidays to each of you. Wishing you all the warmth, joy and comfort of the season, and best wishes for a very happy 2023....even Rags.
Eloen Tamlyranth |
Thanks, Tilnar.
I hope we can move forward too! I think there's a little decision paralysis as it seems like there aren't any good options, so we're trying to set goals when all of the goals seem either un-achievable or unpalatable. :)
Fiona nel Mare |
Merry Christmas to you all! Especially people who bleed Hero Points... ;)
Ragadolf |
Thanks Tilnar! (I think?!?) 0-O
Sorry for my absence, but I been busy at work, STILL recovering, (Bleecch) and got talked into yet another musical. >_<
(HOW I manage to keep doing those, and NOT lose my job, is beyond my merely mortal ken) ;P
I hope that all had a Very Merry Christmas, and I hope that everyone has a Happy New Year! (Yes, even Tilnar. He DID give us Hero Points!) ;P
Hopefully, I will see you all on the other side!
Tilnar |
Right, so.
Level 5.
Remember, for those who might want to do so, a hero point can be spent during level up to maximize your hit die. (Of course, you might actually just want it to be heroic later, especially since I'm so nice about how you folks get to roll your hp...)
And, while you've literally had months to do so, I don't know that you ever actually worked out your shopping lists and what you 'bought' in Firrine, so that would also be super-important. (I was really hoping that bit of bookkeeeping would have been done by now, I admit -- that would be the 'finished shopping' bit above.).
Fiona nel Mare |
Oooooh... yay! I should have time to level up either this evening or tomorrow. Will have to ponder the HP usage...
I think Fiona's done shopping.
Fiona nel Mare |
Sorry, not leveled up yet... I've had some family stuff come up this week that's been keeping me really busy and not leaving much time for other things. And it doesn't help that I can't remember what progression path I'd chosen for Fiona... :P
Tomorrow's looking really busy as well, but I'm going to do my best to get all leveled before Monday. Again, sorry for the delay — I was all ready to get going on this again, and then people had to go get pneumonia and acute hearing loss and stuff. C'mon, people!
Eloen Tamlyranth |
Level 5: Ranger (guide, trapper) 5
+12 hit points (spending that Hero Point)
+1 BAB
Skills: +1 each of: Disable Device, Heal, Knowledge (dungeoneering), Knowledge (nature), Perception, Stealth, Survival; Craft (traps), Handle Animal
Traps learned: Snare trap, bludgeoning trap
New feat: Weapon Focus (longbow)
Fiona nel Mare |
Fiona's all leveled up except for selecting her feat... awaiting the DM's approval on that.
Ragadolf |
ACK! Do I see,... POSTS in my threads?!?!?! O_o
IT'S ALIVE!
Wish I could say the same for me! ;)
Sorry, been a busy RL experience, still recovering (from after effects of stupid surgery, that admittedly saved my life so,...) ;P
I will try to catch up asap, but as i said, still recovering, week long rentals at work, and the show my daughter talked me into joining her for (SOmething Rotten) open this weekend.
Yeah, when I agreed I thought I would be all better by this point. :P
SHort version, my usual excuses.
I'll try to catch up and keep up best as I can.
Nice to see familiar icons posting again! :)
Fiona nel Mare |
Psst, Dee Em? You waitin' on us or are we waitin' on you?
Ragadolf |
Sorry guys,
RL still slappin' me around.
(I know, 'excuses excuses!') ;P
For reals, been busy at work, while in a show (Something Rotten- a musical making fun of Shakespeare), while STILL 'recovering' (IF you can call it that) from my surgery side-effects.
You know, 'The Usual'. ;)
BUT, show is now over, (Sad but YAY!) work is back to 'normal' for a lil' bit, so hopefully I will be able to dedicate a LITTLE bit more time to my fun stuff! :)
Tilnar |
Ok, so, for the sake of presenting options:
You can:
Related to the Locks:
- Try to pick it, hoping that the two of you can get to lock #3 before it resets
- Go back to Firrine and seek magic that would open a lock
- Try exploration or research to track down where the keys might be
- Gather the stuff to try blow the door (like the orcs are setting up to do at the site of the collapse entrance, based on the stuff you captured)
Using the Orcs to try to get in:
- Try to beat down more orcs and hope they have a key or three
- Try to see if the orcs can open it by leading some of them to the door
- Try to bluff or misdirect the orcs to a fake door site, then pounce and see if they had a key or something
Not related to the door:
- Try to head off the orcs and go through the collapse before they do
- Meet with the Fox's master
- Just keep exploring and hope for the best
I will admit that some of those have some pretty severe potential downsides, and that I'm not vouching for any of these courses of action.
