Not saying it's as good as the book by any means, just that it was a pretty good movie. Considerably better than the bad one with Keifer Sutherland and Chris O'Donnell -- even Rebecca de Morney and Tim Curry couldn't save that.
I'm,.. sorry, You are dead to me.
THAT was a GREAT movie!By far my most favorite performance of a 'Porthos' in any of the movies! :)
To be fair, I like ALL of the 3 Musketeers movie versions, for one reason(s) or another.(Admittedly, some more than others) But ALSO to be fair, I have been a fan of any movie with swords in it since long before I had ever HEARD of Alexander Dumas. ;P
(I also luv all of the old Harryhausen effects movies, Jason and the Argonauts, and getting to go see a Sinbad movie was always a fantastic treat!) :D

So, at this point, in the house, all that's left is the locked cupboard, I believe (well, and, based on Fi's earlier actions, looking in the cylinders... Maybe one's filled with spring-snakes!)
Beyond that, though, I have two questions:
1) Sahar's comment seemed to be about making the area 'safe' -- does that mean she'd like to go about and trigger/disable all the traps? Or is the plan to harvest them?
2) By "other building", Fiona, does that mean that you're suggesting digging out the collapsed silo? Or did you want to go look in the outhouse?
I should also mention that there's a pile of animal offal outside the back door, and some tanning frames -- one of which has a large, shorn aurochs hide stretched out on it. Sahar would have noted them when going 'round the house.
When you're done searching -- assuming you're taking some time to discuss, plan and maybe even rest a moment -- you'll get smacked with the level 4 stick (if nothing else, allowing people to bump spellcraft to try again on the IDs).

Tilnar |

Well, Bear Traps would be easy, as you can use a pole or stick to set them off, and since they don't self-reset, they're just there for the taking.
Tripwires are likely to be harder to harvest (that is to say, triggering them would likely make then cease to exist, based on the acid traps)

1d5 ⇒ 5
1d4 ⇒ 4
Something is wrong with the die roller. The numbers after the arrow keep matching the top number of the die. That doesn't happen.
1d4 ⇒ 3
Ahhh, better.

Tilnar |

Sigh.
Merlan needs an IDENTIFY spell, Stat! ;P
Well, you could use one of your 2 free spells for gaining a level on that if you want. Personally, I'd probably take level 2 spells though.

Tilnar |

Small point of order - and probably my fault for not putting the rack with the drying hide (and pile of rotting guts that was probably what Squeaky was reacting to when he scouted) on the map behind the house - resulting in an out of sight, out of mind, didn't actually search it thing.
So, assuming that someone spent a minute there: the aurochs hide is being dried as leather, but not ready yet. There is a rack with just strips drying, which a heal check would reveal to be human skin (you can likely figure out the source on your own), and there's a worktable with a round, serrated cutting implement on a stick (think large sized spiky pizza cutter), and under the table, a box with dozens of already-made leather strips.
Nothing of any actual value (unless you want to wait on the aurochs hide), but potentially interesting (and I'm guessing a little bit more stuff for the pyre).

O I am for SURE taking lvl 2 spells!
But an IDentify Spell would cut out the need for a lot of these rolls,... ;P

Tilnar |

Okay, then, just to be clear... You're not staying here tonight.
- So are you leaving as soon as the corpses start to burn? Waiting a while to make sure it goes well?
- Are you tossing the random hand into the fire?
- Who's walking vs riding?
- Who's leading the horses?
- Are you spending any additional time searching/dealing with stuff?
- Are you taking a bit of time to rest and gain your level before you go? (This could relate back to #1)

Ragadolf |

If we head back, thats fine.
It does give less chance of a Orc group headed this way to catch us here!
But it also gives a chance of running into something unprepared, and the future-archmage is still down HP and has 1 summons left in his arsenal. ;P
But, both have +/-, so I'll go with the consensus,...

Treppa |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

- I'd prefer to head back rather than spend the night in this gross place and maybe get ambushed by an orc party.
- We have a wand of healing and can top up HP in a few seconds before we go.
- I think we should toss the human skin strips into the fire. Ew.
- I vote keep the hand for examination. Also keep the 'blank' strips.
- Xia should ride Sharisa, who is well-trained. Sahar will lead that horse. I think the rest of the horses might be loaded up with gear, so we can all walk besides Xia and Merlan.
- Our time is better spent loading the horses if we're heading back tonight. We can examine and identify things back in Rustknoll.
- We have to spend 8 hours resting to level, correct? Might as well stay the night if we're doing that.
- I was hoping to start the pyre up and load the horses while it burned. Packing always takes longer than you think, so the pyre would probably be well underway before we left.
Totally open to other ideas.
Wow, when did the "list" markup go casters-up?

Tilnar |

You could level with a 1-hour rest - but that won't fill the new spell slots.
Also, when you say keep the blank strips, do you mean all of them (table and in the box at the drying rack [ie not the human skin on the smaller racks]) or just the table ones?

Fiona nel Mare |

Also, does anyone else want to put dark lanterns in our rooms at the inn to infuriate Norfin?
Pure genius.

Tilnar |

In the table, 8 strips - 3 of which your lens reveals have text to decipher. The other 5 don't show anything under the lens.
Outdoors, where the baddies were tanning the aurochs hide (and the human skin), there were dozens of strips in a box under table with the cutter. Let's say... this many: 7d12 ⇒ (1, 9, 9, 1, 6, 1, 11) = 38

Treppa |

I thought we could take our cue from the baddies and put them in those chests we had to rent, so he can't complain. He won't know unless he opens them. If he's dumb enough to say something, we've got him.
(I keep rigging up traps for a dark chest in my head... an everflowing ewer that is uncorked when the chest is opened and falls into the dark chest, flooding the place. A chest full of spiders or scorpions or vipers living in the darkness. That kind of thing.)

Pretty sure fae have darkvision, unfortunately.

Yeah, Yer probably right. :(
It was a thought,

First part, YAY! :)
(Second part,... Kinda scary. Remind Merlan NOT to tick off Sahar.) O_O

I think Costin should know at least one more language, but we’ll treat that as part of his level up so as not to worry about retcons.
It’s hard picking languages as an Int-based character taking ranks in Linguistics! Nobody should know that many languages.

Ragadolf |

Funny story,...
On my ONE trip to Europe, our bus-tour-guide for the entire trip was a young man who knew A LOT of languages.
He already knew about,... 12? (Almost 12?) and was currently learning like 6 or 7 more.
(Numbers +/- due to my thppt memory)
According to him, once you learn the first half-dozen to a dozen, all the rest are easy because they are all related to ones you already know.
;P

Wait until you try a gnome in that situation...

Hey friends, stopping in to apologize for my absence and let you know that I've got an audit next week... so am likely to be somewhat unresponsive until Tuesday. :(
I'll /try/ to post before then.

Ragadolf |

No worreis,
I certainly understand!
Getting busy at work, and that's not counting the 'trouble' I seem to have gotten myself into. >_<
Welcome to the 'new normal',... same as the 'OLD normal' :P
Yes, it's finally happened. My mouth MAY have finally dug me into a hole that I may not be able to climb out of. Only time will tell. :(

Tilnar |

Not to interrupt RP (which is good), but for my own understanding about what's happening.
Basically:
- Who is going where?
- What gear is being put in what places by whom?
- What's the order of stuff doage?
Or is it that everything's staying in the stables for now with Dog on duty?

Treppa |

I updated the loot sheet with a first crack at the storage locations for the night. Big and cheap - stable. Expensive or small - someone's rooms. I'm assuming we can't get to Rickan's lockbox right now. If that's a bad assumption, then this can be modified.
I didn't specify rooms, but that can be done if need be.
I guess Eloen would take Lani's place and room with Xia. Sahar and Fiona were going to be roomies, I think, and Lysander/Merlan. We do have Costin now (and this is even the right game for him!), so maybe one person can sleep in the stable, or on a room floor?
Sahar's order of stuff:
1. Drop off Xia at inn
2. Unload animals and sort into stable/rooms
3. Load up 1 critter to take room stuff back to the inn
4. Return critter to stable
5. Make sure animals are OK
6. Sort room stuff into our 3 rooms and footlockers?
7. Eat?
I'd think everyone would help with the unloading and sorting and stashing and moving to the inn and divvying up between rooms.

Tilnar |

Ok, if there's no objections or changes to Treppa's suggestions, I'll post a bit of aftermath town stuff and in the meantime, you can all count on taking an hour (well, more, I imagine) that'll let you get level 4.
I believe that some of you will want to try new ID rolls when that happens. I also suspect there may be some comprehending of languages prepared tomorrow morning.
