Thanks for all the kind words, its resolved by now and tonight she is landing back in vienna.

As always in these scenarios it is mostly an issue of getting to the person who is willing to say he is responsible for doing it and then it was easy.

On Ultimate Combat there are full fledged rules for Performance Combat, probably just too much for this here, but it made me think about it :)

Sometimes I wonder if the Designer know how a d20 works. You are rolling dice with a small bonus and just hope that your RNG is better than your opponents, because all the advantages you might have had are thrown away when you convert 5 points of skill into just a +1. I belivee this kind of rules would really benefit from rolling with a smaller dice to make differences more pronounced instead the other way round.

The Flaming Sphere can jump up over hindrances, but I guess it's not hovering, but gravity pulls it down. I could possibly cast it a bit over the surface, and it would have the initial effect. Then it would fall into the water and wink out. (?)

I cast Fireball this time though, and it just goes off with a bang. :) It will burn the parts of snakewhale that are above the surface at least, i.e. the head.

That is correct; I forgot that.

I tend to review from the last GM post forward; since it was the last action prior to the new round, I missed it entirely. Could you include group modifiers like that in your round status posts? That will help me remember stuff like that.

The identifications are successful, I will post the exact potions on Saturday. The machete is not magical.

Also nothing extraordinary happens and so you will start you journey on foot along the river tomorrow.

The original wording of the Adventure Path is: "adamantine machete (treat as a short sword)".

So just because a later Paizo publication added a different description of a machete doesn't mean, that this is supposed to be an unsable weapon. Anybody who can use a shortsword and is willing to can use this weapoen.

Also the Potions are:
potion of cat’s grace,
two potions of lesser restoration.

That is correct. Everybody can hack plants with it, and whoever isn't proficient with a short sword, will incur a -4 penalty on attack.

I don't think I understood that it was adamantine; that makes it a good backup weapon vs DR and hardness, and as a short sword, Davor is proficient. Father Kerndrew is as well, of course.

I'm proficient and I'm fine with carrying it and using it if we run across something where it is needed. But my class training, finesse weapon, gives me Dex-to-Damage with my chosen weapon, which at the time was my +1 dagger. I can't change it, but I can add another weapon at 11th level....

No I was just having a long think about the last few months.

With workload having picked up significantly in the last year and also social live becoming more active again, the amount of time I have been able to give this has been on a steady decline. And I haven't even been required to work in the office yet, so once that starts there will be another hour of the day gone.

All this meqns that in the last few months the days where this has been a chore have far outweighted the days where this has been fun, and I think I need to admit this too myself. There is no way I am going to keep this up for another four and a half modules.

Currently I am thinking about just finishing on the Dicovery of the city, but I can't think of a suitable finale to finish things up, and I am noit even sure if you would prefer that or rather start looking for somebody else to take over the campaign.

I am sorry for letting you down like this, but I believe its the honest thing to do.

Yes, Real Life sometimes hits us in the face, and it’s easy to feel a burn-out, especially as a GM.
Thanks for letting us know. If you want to run this module to the end at a slower pace, then that’s fine with me. Otherwise, or if the rest of the players want to leave, I can deal with that too. It’s a great game, but it’s just a game.

How far along are we in this module? I too would like to see us come to a logical stopping point, but obviously don't want to put that on you if it's onerous.

Fwiw, I'm a regular player in PFS games; I have multiple PCs in games all the time. That means that I'm on these boards pretty much daily. If this game slows way down, I'll still be here to see the new post indicator whenever it is active. I can play at an extremely slow pace here, if that's something that helps take the pressure off.

This is just a game. A really good game with great players and a great GM, but only a game. If you are feeling like you are burning out, do what you need to do. Slow down. Take a break. Or end it. We will all understand.

If it helps you, I do also have some periods of time when I am motivated to play/GM and some others when I just struggle and wish I was involved in far less games.

Also, there have been points of this campaign I have enjoyed a lot. And most of it has been fine anyway and would continue playing it without hesitation. The game has lost some steam in the last months, but that happens usually during summer time, and also with older campaigns. Normal stuff.

Finally, in my experience as a GM, it is far easier to GM a dugeon than a wilderness adventure with open ended locations and not well defined encounters.

If you still want to put some hours on this, I suggest wrapping up the parts that require a more creative approach, and jump over the parts that require less work and more mechanical. I think we all here are fine with resolving things alternatively, and would not mind either if we just reach from A to B magically without much justification other than to keep going with what is written. Do not press yourself to deliver over expectations, if the designers did not fill in the parts do not feel the need to do it yourself, we are happy to just keep playing forward and do not expect you to do it better than people that was payed to work on it during months!

We will soon be on winter and I usually become more involved in sitting on the computer by that time as opposed to September that carries a lot of extra work with children beginning school and people starting new activities. So, yeah, I think if you still want to invest some time, simplifying stuff, not caring to be too perfect, and just profiting the parts of the module that are more defined, maybe finds you in a new better spot for continuing.

Decide whatever you decide, you have my understanding, my support and my thanks for all the effort you have voluntarily given us freely :)

Thanks for all the kind words, they have been very welcome. I think trying to bring this to a reasonable finish at saventh yi at a manageable pace is the decent thing to do and let's see how I feel by that time.

PS but for the next 3 days I am on a railway fair so I am not sure when I will have time to post.
