This is a mindaffecting charm effect, so no enchantment I assume. Otherwise it would make a big difference, as you failed by 2.
Charms are enchantments, almost universally. Might want to double-check that before we get too far into things that result from that roll.

Okay I found it and you are obviously right.
My suggestion would be the following:
Since SHalissa only barely saved , she wasn't enchanted, but still believed the woman to be in danger. So she went to help and was totally surprised by her violent attack.
She is grappled, but able to defend herself so she can fight the grapple or take other hostile actions.

Shalissa |

Yes, thanks both of you!
In fact I think Shalissa was fooled at heart, and she is not very strong, so the grapple is almost warrantied.

Father Kerndrew |

Is it possible to take a potion while underwater?
Typically, no. That's what potion sponges are for.
Or activate a wand?
The only rule I can find about this is here:
Spellcasting Underwater: Casting spells while submerged can be difficult for those who cannot breathe underwater. A creature that cannot breathe water must make a concentration check (DC 15 + spell level) to cast a spell underwater (this is in addition to the caster level check to successfully cast a fire spell underwater). Creatures that can breathe water are unaffected and can cast spells normally. Some spells might function differently underwater, subject to GM discretion.

Davor Krill |

I was thinking the wand of Vampiric Touch. If usable it's probably easier to touch than to stab or slash with my dagger.

GM Kulko |

Wands are spell trigger events so thats sounds really easy to accomplish. so I would say the diffculty for using a wand would be more like 10+Spell level. Apart rom that I see nothing preventing you from using it, unless you really want your wand to have a verbal spell trigger.

Davor Krill |

DC13 then. Concentration check? That would make sense but make it a 50/50 for me....
Maybe I should stick to my dagger.... if/when we catch up!

In reality a mundane straw would suffice to drink contents from a flask underwater.

GM Kulko |

Not much time today, fell free to join the feast or just decide to row back to the hermit.

Helping the kids move back in to their home. No Internet connection yet. Hopefully tomorrow.

GM Kulko |

While in the dream, all of the characters function as if under the effect of beast shape II.
I understand that to mean, you retain all your normal stats apart from the differences mentioned in the spell? Or are your base stats now the ones listed for the corresponding animals?

Shalissa |

One of my current PCs is a Transmuter based on shaping into monsters. It is pretty fun and effective (although weird to have a wizard with more Strength than Intelligence).
What you are missing is written within the polymorpth branch of the Transmutation school in the Magic chapter.
Basically, your abilities change as per the spell modifiers, but you also get the base speed and natural attacks of the base creature.

Davor Krill |

So my attack is a bite? If I can flank can I get my sneak attack damage?

GM Kulko |

Since sneak attack does not depend on your physical characteristics I think it would carry over.

Shalissa |

Shalissa cannot use her spells, because turtles lack a language for Verbal components, and hands for Somatic components, but her domain ray is a spell-like ability, and those ones do not use any casting component :D
Theoretically she might still use channel energy, as that is a supernatural, but it requires to show her holy symbol. Equipment usually melds into the body and supernatural abilities dependent on form are also lost, but most animals usually have a magic item slot on the neck, so, I will need some GM adjudication in there in case someone is wounded and Shalissa needs to heal!

GM Kulko |

Channel energy is fine. Looks like I have neutered you enough as it is.

Father Kerndrew |

I'm going to have to work up the stats for Father Kerndrew in bull form. Unfortunately, I'm leaving for a long vacation on Friday and most of my free time at home is dedicated to packing, etc.
I will do my best!

I found no bull, so we take an auerochs as a template for abilities.
Since its large you gain:
If the form you take is that of a Large animal, you gain a +4 size bonus to your Strength, a –2 penalty to your Dexterity, and a +4 natural armor bonus.

GM Kulko |

Sorry for te delay guys, I my rush I overlooked that gregor wasn't up so I was waiting for nothing on him.

Shalissa |

Ohm, I hadn't noticed he was not up neither to be honest :P

GM Kulko |

@ Gregor: as far as I understand it since the Zebra is a large animal you get +4 STR, -2 DEX on your own Stats. giving you STR 18, So your damage would be 1d4+4

Shalissa |

I think you might be looking at this animal companion entry perhaps Gregor?
You only take the attack type and dice from there, bite (1d4) 2 hooves* (1d4), the bonuses to stats are set in stone in the beast shape II regardless of the creature. It only matters size. Since zebra is Large, this the line that applies:
Large animal: If the form you take is that of a Large animal, you gain a +4 size bonus to your Strength, a –2 penalty to your Dexterity, and a +4 natural armor bonus.
Yeah, polymorph spells are a bit complicated in Pathfinder, but it results in a better balanced device than in D&D3.5 where you would just fetch the whole creature statsblock. I think they really got it right.

Davor Krill |

That's why I stay away from polymorph, and summons.... Complicated! And when I get it wrong I end up wasting all my time summoning something that is useless by the time the summons spell completes!

Hi all, I'm back and catching up. Post-vacay recovery took longer than expected; my ear is still plugged from the flight for some reason, so my whole being is a little bit off. I haven't popped into Gameplay yet, just here to let you know that that will happen at some point today. Thanks for your patience!

GM Kulko |

The goal of the current Encounter is not to proove that four L4 characters can save a child from a bunch of L1 dogs.
It is to find a way as a group to do this and still prevent whatever is happening in your warehouse.

Tomorrow is my last working day and afterwards I am on leave until the 2nd of January. I will probably be online quite a lot anyway, but especially the larger updates will come irregurlarly during this time.

Shalissa |

Sorry! Between end of year job craziness, a coworker leaving, and Christmas social commitments, this is being a busy week for me. Things will not ease up until after the weekend I think.

Davor Krill |

@Gregor, Take care of yourself. I've had Pneumonia and was pretty much shocked at how hard the recovery was. I used to just say that I didn't believe in getting sick, and pretty much just didn't. Now I'm older and at a lower level of physical fitness, and I have to be much more concerned about exposure to illness....

Shalissa |

Uh, take some serious rest Gregor. Try to eat good, have some natural light and ventilation. That thing is hard :(
Get well soon!

Sp hooliday season is mostly over for me, so its time to get thos one going again. I will bot Gregor for now, until he calls in fit again.

Shalissa |

If we are waiting for Kerndrew and Gregor, they are not bold in the tracker so probably they do not think they are up!

No we are waiting for me to find the time :-)

GM Kulko |

Davor? Gregor? Should I bot you or will you find time over the weekend?

Davor Krill |

Sorry I haven't posted in a few days. I had to do a 2-day drive to Iowa to attend my Brother's funeral. I'm working to get my head straight and get back to quasi-normal....

Shalissa |

Very sorry to hear that, all my good energy to you and your family...

GM Kulko |

I am really sorry to hear that Davor, Best wishes to your family and take the time things need.

GM Kulko |

Seeing the enemy in the warehouse Davor charges at him, but hears Shalissa's spell and words and does not attack.
Double Move. Dagger ready if the man isn't held and tries to run.
Davor I don't think that has any real effect.
you either charge, but then you need to attack. Or you Doble Move but than you have no actions left to ready anything. so currently you are only creating an Attack of Opportunity if he should move.

Davor Krill |

I didn't want to attack with what Shalissa said. I already had dagger in hand so it was just a double move up to him.... If the rules don't allow the AoO if he runs, OK....
Reading the post, he's held so not a question. Thanks!

Aoo was always possible, but your post sounded like you wanted to ready a regular attack too. Anyways he was held so no problem here.

Shalissa |

Oh, the hold person allows for a save reroll each round (as a full-round action).
I will wait to see the result of this before deciding if stopping the other fire or attacking :)

Exploration Points:
During the upcoming advneture I will be tracking your progress in clearing the way for the main expedition. The method for tracking this will be exploration points, which will be awarded for various tasks along the way.
Currently you have gained 3 exploration points for being very succesful in convincing Nkechi to join your expedition.
Unfortunately the fire cause 17 Hitpoints of damage, which will be divided by 10 and rounded up to 2 lost exploration points.
So before the start of the expedition your are sitting at 1 exploration point.
Nkechi
Nkechi is a sage NPC. He will not take part in the encounters directly, but you are free to discuss anything related to the land the the environment with him giving you an automatic succesful aid on checks pertaining to this matters. Addtionally you are free to discuss matters with him to gain a greater understanding about the genral lay of the land.

Shalissa |

What do you roll to see how well you bind somebody?
They removed the Use rope skill, and just use the combat maneuvers bonus and assume you take 20. It is in the grapple rules, here: tie-up.

GM Kulko |

Food and communication is not supposed to be an issue, unless something extraordinary happens. Hope that explanations were good enough for everyone.
Also two Question:
Is it too hard to understand Kassata with all that trash entered in the middle? I use an translatoor and he does not care too much for meaning although I fell he does a mighty fine job.
do you think you know where you wil likely be travveling on the map? Or should I describe it in more detail?

Shalissa |

I think it is fine. Follow the trade path details left to characters and GM :) until Kalabuto, talk with the contact there, then follow towards Tazion :D
