Ok, after going through the treasure sheet it seems we have a share of 5201 gp for each of us (from a 20806 total). If we limit this to 5014 gp, we can buy a cure light wounds wand for the party.
I'm in favor of that cure light wounds wand; let's do it. (Note: Father Kerndrew's tempered champion archetype trades out spellcasting for some weapon stuff, so Father Kerndrew--unlike most paladins--cannot cast spells from wands.)
I've been perusing the available armor options to reduce the significance of his ACP, and with the budget we have right now, I only see small gains possible. Moving from splint mail to full plate reduces the -7 ACP to -6, and getting masterwork full plate brings that down another notch to -5. The real gain, and what I think will be his ultimate goal, is mithril full plate, which will make the total ACP from his armor -3. But mithril is an extra 9,000 gp for heavy armor, so that'll have to wait.
Making gains on the shield is easier to achieve; he can eliminate its ACP entirely by switching to a darkwood heavy wooden shield, and that cost is minimal in relation to our current budget. (The shield is a weapon for him; the other +1 buckler isn't really an option.)
Does anyone have any other ideas that I'm not seeing here?

A Masterwork Field Plate should have the same protection as a Splint Mail (+7) at only -4 ACP and a reasonable cost of 1450 gp.

Shalissa |

There are ways, but are definitely not cheap.
The Comfort enhancement gives a -1 ACP and removes the penalties of hot weather. 5000 gp
The Nimble modification gives you -1 ACP and +2 max Dex, but gives a -1 AC penalty. 1000 gp
Armor ointment reduces it -1 ACP during 8 hours. 30 gp
The Effortless Armor spell can give you some boost at needed moments, but given your archetype you will need a wand and high UMD.
Also, you can get the Armor Expert trait for an extra -1 ACP burning a feat on Additional Traits.
Unless you really want to maximize AC, my personal recommendation would be to stick to an agile breastplate until we find a mithral armor or you can buy one. Kerndrew is not alone in the front line, thus it is not so important to have the highest AC possible as in games with a single martial in the group.

End of book 1! Yay, and many thanks to GM Kulko and everybody else that has had to correct any of my mistakes!
Am I reading that right? 5014 gold? Davor will definitely want the Darkwood Hanbo (MW) 321 GP.
And since it is likely that we won't be around anywhere to buy equipment again for a long time, I'll buy a CLW wand for myself. 750 GP.
Hard to think of anything else that he would even think about buying. Maybe a Cloak of Resistance +1 to help with his saves?
Thoughts from anyone else? Maybe a Level 1 Pearl of Power?

Father Kerndrew |

Davor, since we're buying a clw wand for the party, maybe you should consider infernal healing for yourself instead. It's on the witch spell list (clw isn't), so you can cast it without UMD, and it provides a guaranteed 10 hp of healing with every casting (10 rounds of fast healing 1, instead of d8+1 from clw). Same cost (1st level spell wand).

GM Kulko |

I dont believe you have to pay for the masterwork on top of the magic. Both can be found easily within the city.

You definitely have to pay for the masterwork on top of the cost of magical enhancements; the only place the masterwork cost is often included is with special materials.
(Unless you're making a special exception for this game, of course; you're the GM, so you're allowed to do that, but my above comments reflect the rules about this.)

GM Kulko |

Ah I see after half an hour looking I found it inthe item creation part.
Why couldn't they put a similar explicit mention in the part where they just describe the items. I would never read the creation chapter until I get a player who uses it.
Well I found it stupid, but lets play it by the book. But things costing 2300gp, nobody in his right mind will demand 10 gp extra for the base price of the axe.

@Father Kerndrew
CLW is on the Witch list, but you are right that Infernal healing is as well. I usually don't even look for it because of the "Evil" descriptor. I'm thinking that Father Kerndrew wouldn't want it used on him....
@GM Kulko:
There's also the question of the material component. Creating a wand requires 50 of the material components, which for Infernal Healing is a drop of Devil Blood OR a flask of Unholy Water. No idea where one would get devil blood from, or the cost? But Holy/Unholy water is expensive! Unholy water costs 25 GP per flask, making the wand cost 25 x 50 (1250) + 750, or 2,000 GP.
Chelaxians might sell devil's blood and/or the wands. But at what price. ?? Actually, they might get a kick out of spreading the Evil and sell the wands at the same price as CLW. Just get the blood from an Imp familiar that regenerates....
So:
Wand of Infernal Healing or CLW: 750 GP
Darkwood Hanbo (MW): 321 GP
Maybe a Cloak of Resistance +1: 1000 GP?
Level 1 Pearl of Power: 1000 GP? (2 if they are available?)

Shalissa |

Kulko, you cited Lewynn as the captain of our ship before, but Aery's said the ship was Captain Kassatas ship, so I am not sure if the ship was taken or there was an incongruity somewhere.

The Name is Kassata Lewynn. The Tavern Keeper just wouldn't call her by her first name.

I could not find a price for devils blood, so I would assume it would cost as much as the Unholy water.
Both the wand of Infernal Healing and the Pearl of Power 2 can be found in Eleder of you ask around.

So the room cost is 2 gp/week & person for a double room and 3 gp/week for a single room.
You can pay daily but than its a bit more expensive and you will stay here for a few days anyway.
You will spend the first 3 days reading all the material you found in the temple and bringing you up to the point of discussion we had at this point.
Then you will know that you will be looking for a former Azlanti Outpost by the name of Tazion. You have a description where it is located but the Azlanti references make no sense for you and even with the use of Gregor Mwangi map you still have no real idea where you need to go. Although you probably know thats it deep in the jungle beyond the borders of Sargava.
In order to resolve this problem you are looking for further information on the regions geograohy and history as well as journals of former expeditions.

Shalissa |

Understood! I guess we are looking for some library or trading post where they have maps and potential guides to help us.
For now let's research what we have, find about Tazion, and sell/buy stuff.
For Shalissa I am thinking about buying:
Headband of Wisdom +2, 4000 gp
Cloak of resistance +1, 1000 gp

FYI, I'm leaving this afternoon for a camping trip that extends into the Labor Day holiday. I won't be returning home until late Monday evening; I likely won't be able to post again until Tuesday morning.

Davor Krill |

I think I'd rather go with the CLW wand for 750 if it is available. ??
We are buying one out of party funds and I'm buying a second, correct?

GM Kulko |

Everything below 2000 gp is always available. Above that I start rolling availability dice offline and tell you the results.

GM Kulko |

On the island you were not very secretive and here you were making just enough noise that interested parties would ask around and find the other survivors send spies to the library orotger things.
And frankly the AP just assumes everybody knows so and wouldn'tmake much sense if they wouldn't.

Shalissa |

Yeah, I understand, I was just trying to create a bit of conflict to make things slightly more spicy :)

Davor Krill |

Be secretive with our fellow survivors? Who would ever do that!?!

Davor Krill |

Which question? Who's been talking? Or about the drinking vote? I'm thinking that's a typo? but not sure what it meant.

GM Kulko |

The question was:
The elven then gathers heads with the others "[smaller]What do you think about the offer? Do we want to outright accept it or try to find another possible sponsor? Besides, Davor made a good point, perhaps we can ask her at this point"
The route cqn be discussed with your sponsor, but if you want to have a discussion beforehand just start it after this meeting. The scale is huge. it will be multiple month to reach Tazion probably.

I will give you time for finishing up your business, like the temple.
Afterwards We will conclude the discussion about Jask and then go forward with your first misson.
Also please conclude your shopping, and don't forget you got another 2000 divided by 4 from Kassata.

Davor Krill |

Sorry for delay. Busy at work and planning a trip again. I'll try to keep up....
So 500 more gold? Hmm....

Sorry its a hell of a a week and I don't think i can post today. and it maybe a bit sketchy for the next days too.

Shalissa |

No worries! Thanks for the heads up :)

GM Kulko |

I leave the decision to you, if you want to suggest a different course for Jask, I am fine either way.

Shalissa |

From a logical point of view, I guess Shalissa would ask if Jask wants to join their expedition.
From a game perspective, knowing how much extra work NPCs can add both to GM and players alike, and how adventures are thought for just 4 characters, I think the Praetor's proposal works better.

Davor Krill |

I agree. Maybe Jask will get a really quick promotion too!

Tonight I got a big meeting of the local Boy scouts club and tomorrow hopefully my local RPG campaign, but on the weekend I should be able to send you out on your first mission of the adventure.

Shalissa |

Thanks for the heads up Kulko! And good luck with the campaign :)

GM Kulko |

PS: If you rather play detetive for a few days just tell where you want to go and I will tell you want ypou can find out about this other faction.

Father Kerndrew |

Sorry, just got around to making Kerndrew's purchases. Let me know if there are any issues with this list.
Purchases
Sell splint mail (50% purchase price: +100 gp)
Sell longsword (50% purchase price: +7.5 gp)
Sell heavy steel shield (50% purchase price: +10 gp)
Mwk Field Plate (1,350 gp)
ring of protection +1 (2,000 gp)
cloak of resistance +1 (1,000 gp)
+1 heavy steel shield (1,170 gp)
Remaining Gold: 135.79 gp
Encumbrance: 121/260 lbs (Medium load)

Shalissa |

I fear he tripped himself with the too many games to GM burnout trap.

Shalissa |

I am fine with this trade to have us moving forward, just waiting to see how Gregor receives giving away one of his preciousness tools :)

GM Kulko |

understood, but since he has been a bit spotty in answering, feel fre to change the offer to something he doesn't need to improve. He just wants a normal tool usefzul to a fisherman and worth at least a gp.
PS: As you might have noticed I am a bit stressed at work, hope it doesn't infringe on the game too much

Shalissa |

Thanks for the heads up Kulko. Take your time, some weeks are busier than others!
I was guessing, because you usually are more direct and forward moving in your posts and the scene seemed to be going in circles for a while.
I do understand, just do not worry about the game, we will catch up when possible! :)

Davor Krill |

The game is going fine. As always, take care of yourself first. RL is much more important than a game!

Shalissa |

In case it makes any difference, Shalissa has elven immunities which gives her +2 vs enchantment effects Kulko!

GM Kulko |

This is a mindaffecting charm effect, so no enchantment I assume. Otherwise it would make a big difference, as you failed by 2.

GM Kulko |

@ Davor what wand would that be? and yes I would allow for taking a watertbreathing potion while underwater.
