Hello and welcome again, Pathfinders. Once accepted, please go ahead and fill out the following:

Dayjob Roll:
School Items:
Slotted Boons:

As usual, help me out with the Chronicle Sheet admin and make sure you fill out the Sign-up sheet.

Horizon Hunters

Bard (Maestro/Polymath) 7 - HP 56/85, AC 25 - Perception +14 +1 visual - F: +12 / R: +14 / W: +14 - Speed: 25 Male Gnome Fey-Touched Focus: 2/2 | Hero Points: 1/2 | Class DC: +25 (E) |

Dayjob Roll: level 5 expert x2 days. perform (dramatic acting): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (19) + 15 = 34 critical success so 4gp.

School Items: Scroll of Lightning Bolt (For Kamil), scroll of soothe (lvl 1)

Slotted Boons:
Improved Hunters Champion (Extra HH boon slot)

Storied Talent (HH boon roll day job = to my lvl.)

Devil's Keep (Once per adventure can use a reaction to deal 1d6 +lvl fire dmg to anyone who attacks me or an ally. Basic ref save DC 21)

Team Player (3 unchecked boxes. I can check a box when an ally fails a skill check I aided on to have them reroll it.)

2 questions before I slot the 3rd boon.

1. Do we know what nation we are going to?
2. Is this quest being run as part of the online convention?

Herondal is technically an expert in all types of performance but his passion is dramatic acting. (I as a player suck at RP sadly.)

Outside of combat he uses Inspire Competence to aid others with a total bonus of +18. So assuming an Aid DC of 20 a 1 on the die critically fails giving a -1 penalty, 20 - 29 succeeds granting a +1 bonus to the check, and 30+ critically succeeds for a +2 on the check.
Note aid is a reaction so I can only aid once per round. Recall knowledge in shifts :)

In combat Herondal will often use perform a lingering Inspire Courage then use his magic bow and/or Electric Arc. Maybe a spell or two as needed.

While his Perception is +12 he has Goggles of Night lvl 5 which add a +1 item bonus to sight based Perception checks and he has Incredible Initiative which adds +2 to his initiative rolls.

Edit: I just realized that whoever came up with the Team Player boon didn't understand the rules. It is a reaction to use but Aid is also a reaction. So technically the boon does nothing. Could I get a ruling on that?

@Herondal Your character has been in Osirion and the mission will take place there.

Team Player is from what Scenario, so I can give you a ruling, please?

This is not a convention game.

School Items: Lesser healing potion, mistform elixir
Slotted Boons:

  • Cryptid Scholar (3 boxes)
  • Sand Slide (3 boxes)
  • Emergency Draught (3 boxes)

Further details as needed to come later, I'm out at the moment. Thanks for the game!

  • Horizon Hunters

    Bard (Maestro/Polymath) 7 - HP 56/85, AC 25 - Perception +14 +1 visual - F: +12 / R: +14 / W: +14 - Speed: 25 Male Gnome Fey-Touched Focus: 2/2 | Hero Points: 1/2 | Class DC: +25 (E) |

The boon is from 1-03 Escaping the Gravelands and I posted about it in the GM section. No one had brought it up before.

I brought it up on the Society Discord. There's no official word yet. So far the recommendation is to treat the boon as if it works. So I guess it would be the only time I'd let there be double reactions as it's subordinate to the failed Aid.

Going to set the scene now.

    Horizon Hunters

    Bard (Maestro/Polymath) 7 - HP 56/85, AC 25 - Perception +14 +1 visual - F: +12 / R: +14 / W: +14 - Speed: 25 Male Gnome Fey-Touched Focus: 2/2 | Hero Points: 1/2 | Class DC: +25 (E) |

Works for me. My final boon will be Touched by the Storm. Cold and Electricity resistance 1.

Oh yes, before I forget, I'll toss an extra hero point Kamil's way. 1-glyph GM benefit.

    Horizon Hunters

    Male Electric Elemental Heart Dwarf Rogue 3: Spd:25, AC:20, HP:9/43, Fort:8, Ref:11, Will:8, Per:8, Darkvision

Pregen is up and ready to go (The Wizard, Ezren level 3)

    Dayjob Roll: merchantile lore: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18 or do I roll the day job for the character I'm applying this to?

School Items: (I see nothing in the pregen giving me set schools, so I guess I still get to pick these which alters the character a little). I put three points into swords and will take 2 minor healing potions. This also means I get to be trained in Warfare Lore skill. (Want to make sure, cause reading over the entire pregen, I see nothing showing where points are allocated in any school)

    Slotted Boons: None

Can we still do these things with pregens? I see nothing preventing it, but I can't be too sure.

I'll double check, but in the meantime it stays as you've chosen unless I'm told otherwise.

    Done.

Apologies, but I have to bow out of the game. Sorry for being a no-show. I wish you all a great time!

Thanks for letting me know, I'll adjust things accordingly.

    Boom! Dealing with lit fireworks!

Your characters can do the following to deal with any lit crates of fireworks (lit fireworks have a red border):

Disable Craft DC 18 (trained), Engineering Lore DC 16 (trained), or Explosives Lore DC 16 (trained) to safely remove the lit firework from the crate before it begins a chain reaction that will result in an immediate bang.

Thievery DC 18 (trained) to remove the lit fuse from the firework.

Lit fireworks enters the initiative immediately before the triggering creature or effect and will go off on its turn.

    Horizon Hunters

Herondal has none of those things. Good luck to anyone willing to defuse explosives midcombat :)

I had forgotten they gave Humans an extra language. Adjusted my profile. Picked Jotun.

As I have one square of movement left and no action, can I move to have some cover from the explosion?

Was the crate completely hidden? Because it could have changed my actions.

Could have sworn I at least had Crafting trained, but apparently not. At least we're putting on a show!

Also, is it 1 or 2 actions to try defusing a crate?

Yes, of course! I forgot to say you could retcon any actions after you stumbled upon the crate, Kamil.

@Hamarel, it's two actions as it's a Disable a Device activity, but with different checks.

    GM Deneve

"From what you gather by speaking with Ahrkinos, his lair is in the sewers right under the Old City docks. You could easily access it by heading down the lower pier near Hamarel and entering a storm drain."

""Your ssservent isss odd, mortal, for that isss not the entranccce to my lair."

    Did we misunderstand something?

I think I understood Hamarel's action too literally. He mentioned lifting the drain entrance, but not climbing down to the lower docks. So my first thought was, "that's nowhere near his lair".

You all saw him head into his lair though, plus from what he told you, you could in theory go there, although he never invited you over at all. We can weave the visit into his lair if you wish into the conversation with Amenopheus.

Well we were discussing either soundproofing his lair or getting him some earmuffs. I was trying to give someone else a chance to talk now that he was friendly.

Friendly seems like a bit much for the moment! But maybe we can requisition another few Comprehend Languages from you if we go back to him? I'm sure he'd prefer we speak his language.

He was more receptive, yes, but friendly not yet. At least not enough to invite you into his lair, but as I said, you can head back there if you wish. The quest is wrapping up, but isn't at it's end yet.

I've run this quest three times and this is the first time the negotiating happened so soon because finally someone cast Comprehend Languages right away!

I figured it was pointless to be good at diplomacy and not be able to talk to anyone. Can we at least retcon the misunderstanding and make it clear that Hamarel was headed towards the entrance to the lair and not some random sewer entrance?

All right, and that wraps up this quest. Thank you all for your time amd your interest in playing. I'll have the chronicles up here in this thread as soon as possible today or tomorrow.

Oh. You did fill in the final gold preventing players from selling or buying items.

That can be easily fixed if any of you want that space blank. Just let me know and I'll have it up in a jiffy.

I think my downtime gold is off.

    I'm level 4 and crit -> Task level 3 (rather than 2) = 5sp/day
