I have to say, as an atheist, I don't generally enjoy playing religious characters. I loved Sinan. He was a blast to write.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

As we'll have Dr. Mono bring in his new character once you're all back at Etran's Folly, I'd like to take the opportunity for thanking him for such a great and stupendous character. I loved and worried seeing him tank and I'm also happy to see him help mold Valor into Simon.

The blood ooze's next attack was going to be Blood Siphon a Basic DC 21 Fort save that would have made you all take...

Blood Siphon Slashing: 3d8 ⇒ (2, 3, 8) = 13

Plus it's regular attack. So I'm glad you got out of there.

I'd also like to mention that if you wish to change characters/retire them with the coming of Dr. Mono's new char, this would now be the time.

As Blake hoped, the Sculptor is dead, but we'll get to that in character. For now, it's time to level up to level 3, a bittersweet event.

I'm kind of torn. In respect to the narrative, Gamble has a good reason to continue and seek out the mastermind behind this horror and the death of Sinan. However, I also feel like I've identified a couple of ability holes in the party that could be filled depending on where Dr. Mono goes with his replacement.

I'm goin' fighter with a paladin archetype. Mostly combat and some diplomacy/intimidate

Agreed - Sinan was great, and his memory will live on through Simon.

Please go ahead and start leveling up your characters.

If you also decide to retire/try out new character concepts, please let me know, as we make our way into the final act of the Fall of Plaguestone.

I'll stick with Kunsheng, at least for now.

If it's okay, I'm going to change Simon's rogue racket. I thought maybe he'd be using Feint a lot, but (1) opportunities haven't come up as much as I thought, and (2) I keep forgetting. I'm trying to decide between the new Eldritch Trickster racket from the APG and straight Thief.

I'm going to have to regenerate Kunsheng, as I somehow managed to paste another character profile over his.

ETA: This can't have been my error; even the header information has changed, and a simple cut and paste wouldn't do that.

Leveled to try to put a band-aid on the loss of healing: soothe, signature soothe, and trained medicine so I could take Assurance (medicine).

If it helps, My new character has the champion archetype so there will be some non medicinal healing as well...eventually

Nope, as usual, you're all waiting on me. Posted.

@John I don't mind if you switch him out, he can stay at Etran's Folly doing his own investigation on the blight. Do you have the wizard ready and prepared? I can have you arrive with the next caravan as well as allow you all to stock up on potions and such.

You realize that Sir Lawren is a Lastwall knight and not a horse, right?

No, no, I didn't. I had assumed he was your mount.

I may need an OOC introduction.

Ha, ok. Leofric was the squire to a Lastwall knight, Sir Talmore. Leo does have a horse, Giraud, but he's in the stable most of the time.

Sir Lawren (he's been in the background in a lot of our encounters at the Feedmill) is another Lastwall Knight. He's been mostly drunk since before we initially came to town. Leo has been trying to take care of him since they were the only 2 that escaped a pretty nasty battle that took Talmore's life. He'd been hoping to find a way to afford a second horse for Lawren, but trying to work AND take care of a drunk knight is a bit difficult.

Concerned that I've forgotten too much of what happened in Part 1, I went back and re-read most of it, taking notes. Here are my notes, in case anyone else is in the same boat.

Bort's caravan
Bort Bargith: caravan leader; poisoned by porridge
Tamli: half-orc, 2nd in command
Cooky: elf cook
Olf and Ulf: brothers

Trin: server, last to serve Bort food; lives on southern farm (boar encounter)
Flonk: minstrel

Etran's Folly

Glunda: cares for horses
Noala: ranger
Roth Garley: sherriff
Marny: Trin's brother

Gort Eallom: jerk
Ser Lawrence: drunk
Metmon: dwarf farmer

Historical Figures

Temple
Old Shrine to Gozreh (bloodseeker encounter): druids used to worship until Father Bolgrist died

Tree Stump: "drop point"

Clues
alchemical residue in wagon
Bort sold reagents to "H"
receipts slightly higher than Bort's ledgers
Simon's vision: crowd vilifying woman

Now that is a sweet summary.

Just a reminder, I'm kind of waiting on what your next move was. Last two messages were basically: Vengeance is a bad thing.

Do you mean that going back after the blood ooze is a bad thing? Or that chasing Vilree would be a bad thing?

Apologies, I've been tied up (and before that needed a little more to go on with the new characters). Gamble was just making an sad observation, but he's fully committed to perpetuating the cycle of revenge.

I meant it, if it's me you're referring to, that the game stalled after the general consensus was that everyone said "Yep, vengeance is bad." We're entering the final chapter, so I would suggest you stock up and get ready. The caravan that came in today in-game has more alchemical items for you to spend your coin on, although no magic, I'm afraid.

Any off-screen shopping you'd all like to do? If not, we'll move us forward.

Horizon Hunters

Gracie:
HP 40/40 | AC 19 | Fort +8; Ref +8; Will +7 | Perc: +7, low-light vision, scent (imprecise) 30 ft.

I lost track of our budgeting ... What was our monetary reward from this last leg of the mission?

I'll stock up on arrows, and if I can get some elixir of life from the caravan, that's probably a good idea ...

Is there a shopping list?

You have access to regular weapons and armor from the equipment list, including +1 weapons (Potency only, no Striking) Alchemical items, anything level 1.

I think most of the coin you have comes from raiding Hallod's lair. The orc base had some stuff, but you'd need to find a seller for all the alchemical stuff in a larger city. You can still sell it to the caravan, but you'll get less for it.

Horizon Hunters

male goblin ranger 4 | HP 58/58, Hero Points: 1 | AC 20 | Fort +10; Ref +11; Will +10 | Perc: +10 (+12 to seek target), darkvision | Exploration: Searching | Prey: None | Active Conditions: None
Gracie:
HP 40/40 | AC 19 | Fort +8; Ref +8; Will +7 | Perc: +7, low-light vision, scent (imprecise) 30 ft.

Well, unless we're planning to parlay this group into an Age of Ashes campaign (which I wouldn't object to, BTW), I think our best bet would be to sell the alchemical stuff to the caravan. But did we bring that to us, or would we have to take a couple of days to backtrack to the orc base for that? I'm fine with renting a cart or whatever we have to do logistically to wave our hands and say that gets taken care of.

Yeah, you didn't bring it with you. You'd need a cart for it and all you had were the horses.

Are we under an obvious time constraint?

Not at all. There's nothing to indicate that Vilree will do something within 24 hours or such, and being honest, your characters are probably tired physically and emotionally from the ordeal so far.

Simon won't decline a +1 rune, but is there anything we need more? Would a bunch of alchemical items be more valuable? Kunsheng could probably craft a bunch of level 3 items, some of which are very good.

wellll.. Leo hasn't been a part of the group so it would be difficult to make sense of that- at least for the meta. But who knows, if we follow his side quest, we might get lucky with an armor or striking rune or something
