GM Deneve |
Hello and thank you for showing interest in this game.
The game will require a 1st level character. At its conclusion, you will receive a Chronicle Sheet after the module so you can apply it to one of your PFS2e characters.
Please check my alias so you are aware of what you can expect from me and what I expect from you. Please take your time to read it. If you can't comply with it, then please select another game. Time is the only resource none of us can get back.
No lazy posting. This means that when you type, you need to keep the story moving and not just something as in "Deneve nods" as your whole post or other forms of lazy roleplaying. This also applies to combat. Don't just type in dice rolls, express what you're doing, add some flavor to your post. Speaking of dice rolls, please use the ooc tags to be clear as to what you're rolling and what your actions are as well.
Recruitment will be open until 12:00pm Thursday, March 5th 2020, GMT -6. Recruitment won't be first come, first served. Please tell me in character why you would help a community that would blame their own doctor for being able to heal them and abandon them to death when they eventually got ill from helping others. Priority will be given to active GMs first, because let's face it, they don't always get PC playtime.
GM Wayfinder |
I am currently running Plaguestone here on Paizo PFS2 (currently well in Part 2).
I would be very happy to play this.
But if you prefer players who do not know what is coming at all, I will not apply.
(Though I would not let my character know things ; probably going for a martial but not super smart character, more of a follower, to not make major decisions while already knowing things OOC).
If you have time to tell me your feeling re. this...

GM Deneve |
This is “ campaign mode” I take it?
If so I would be interested. I’m game to create a character for any role.
Yup, we'll play it and you'll receive your chronicle sheet at the end.
I won’t be submitting a character for this recruitment, but I can HIGHLY recommend GM Deneve. If you’re lucky enough to be selected, then you’re in for a FANTASTIC experience.
Aww, thanks dinketry. I'm really glad you've enjoyed these games we've had so far.
Gobil Sliink |
"Please tell me in character why you would help a community that would blame their own doctor for being able to heal them and abandon them to death when they eventually got ill from helping others. Priority will be given to active GMs first, because let's face it, they don't always get PC playtime."
Gobil Sliink is a curious gnome but the curiosity has served him well as a guide through forests and swamps alike. Some employers or friends might find annoyance with his inability to leave odd situations well enough alone.
"We can't be leaving people to die like that...makes the area seem DANGEROUS! One more short...really honestly short...stop and see if we can dig up some solutions...please...or you can wander off on your own." the oddly dressed gnome says while his tongue darts around wildly.
Gnome Animal Instinct (Frog) Barbarian. His rage is more from the sporadic nature of the First World than any real anger unless it involves hurting small amphibians.
Blake's Tiger |
Reserving creation of an alias pending acceptance.
"Mother Jaguar teaches that we should look after our neighbors, no matter how misguided they might be," he says. "The healer must have known this way, else why would he have worked so hard to help the sick with no sure reward except to someday catch the plague himself? I learned this way after they set us free from the slave pits, risking my life against the dead and demons to protect the same people who put me in the pits in the first place."
Works best as a Champion or Cleric, but I can make the background work with any class.
I am an active GM.
"Pepper" |
So, hello GM Deneve, and thanks for offering this game, as well as for considering me!
GM Wayinder here, who asked about playing although currently GMing this here on Paizo.
I have created a 1st level character to apply for this Module:
Pfifferling ”PEPPER” Chanterelle and Beltza
A Leshy Druid of the Order of the Leaf, with her leshy familiar.
At about 3 feet (or 1 meter) tall, she is covered in small orange mushrooms.
On her shoulder, there is a bigger mushroom… that actually has eyes!
Yes, that is Beltza, Pepper’s leshy familiar.
To protect herself, she has wrapped straps of leather around her trunk and parts of her branch-limbs. Her left hand carries a big piece of oak-bark, that she uses to shield herself.
From her right hand, you some nice red and white berries. These are on the holly and mistletoe growing from that part of Pepper... that she can clasp to cast her Primal Druid spells.
She also has three ruby red apples dangling from her waist, ready to be picked... so their juice can heal comrades.
All her info' is in her character sheet.
I checked all the info' under your alias, and am fine with all of that (I normally post multiple times per day, since I work at home ; but at least once/day for sure ; and I warn if I ever think I might be AFK).

"I do not know what community we are talking about here, but I do not think they should blame their own doctor. The poor soul must have been using medicine to heal them, which, even if successful, as it seems it was, medicine is never as nourishing for the soul nor as harmonious as using natural remedies, I understand that, but, though disturbing, it is not his fault, that is probably all he knew.
No wonder he got ill.
And then they... abandoned him, to death?
Oh! That is a very big reward indeed.
Letting him die like the fruit rots and decays, only to be reborn like the fruit-seeds that germinate come spring, I imagine they felt he was ready to have his soul move on to the next leg of his journey!
I hope he can help more people in the next step of his existence."
Pepper looks around... and her dark black eyes show worry.
By my roots... I have no hat!, she thinks to herself. What the heck am I going to throw into the ring?
She soon starts weaving some leaves to a branch, that she bends to make into a circlet...
And an active GM too.
Hello to all applying here.
Hoping to meet you - or, for some, reconnect - in game.
But, whether I am in or not, I wish you all a cool and fun adventure!
John Woodford |
I'm applying with a Tian-Shu human chirurgeon alchemist, which will pretty much be the same as the PFS character HERE. If chosen, I'll either use the PFS character as the posting alias or make a new one (your preference).
The short, portly Tian man sighs. "It's the way of such things. The healer is invisible when everyone is healthy, and blamed when people are not. Qi Zhong's scriptures warn of this, for both the people and the healer, and even so I was told how my teachers' teachers were treated when Imperial Lung Wa lost the Mandate of Heaven and the plagues came." He smiles warmly. "Still, I wouldn't choose another path for myself. And maybe, if my skill is enough and Heaven is gracious, I can restore invisibility to the healer again."
Wulfilas |
This is Tarondor's submission. He's a half-elf Ulfen paladin of Shelyn.
A blond man in Ulfen garb looks steadily at you. His violet eyes and tapered ears reveal a strong elvish streak in his ancestry.
"I have been many things in my life. A reaver. A farmer. A crusader. A student. But mostly I have been wrong. Many times." His eyes look past you into a distance only he can know. He sighs. "The measure of a man... or a people... is not their capacity for mistakes, but their capacity for redemption. There is beauty in things old and scarred, if one only works a little to polish and restore them."
"Who among us has not needed help we did not deserve at one time or another? Thank the kindly gods above that we do not each receive what we deserve. No, service to those in need helps them become deserving."
"I will do what I can to help."
Iceman |
Just to make sure I'm parsing this right...
Please tell me in character why you would help a community that would blame their own doctor for being able to heal them and abandon them to death when they eventually got ill from helping others.
The doctor was able to heal them, so why do they blame him/her?
And it was the doctor that became ill and was abandoned? That seems more clear, but I still wanted to doublecheck the them vs he/she.Cheers.
Sinan al-Razima |
This is Sinan, my submission for consideration. I am a very active GM for Society play and a couple home games (currently finishing Carrion Crown and starting Attack of the Swarm), so yeah- I get the whole "rarely gets to play" thing. Plaguestone is high on my list, but I haven't read it yet because I would rather play it first. Unfortunately, our area is so Society heavy that the only people running it are doing super fast play-thrus for PFS credit- which is the opposite of what I want.
Sinan was a street rat growing up in the slums of Katheer. He would likely have remained a thief (instead of his dreams of becoming a horselord) if he hadn't been found and befriended by a servant of the Dawnflower. The elderly priest's care and trust awakened something in Sinan that grew into a true willingness to serve Sarenrae.
Please tell me in character why you would help a community that would blame their own doctor for being able to heal them and abandon them to death when they eventually got ill from helping others
The Dawn brings new light, my friend. A simple choice, however ill-advised, cannot forestall a people's need for help and care. Such a community has known it's fair share of ills, Sirrah. And if the Dawnflower has found the wisdom to allow me to cross the path of those that need her succor, no force on Golarion could keep me from spreading her grace.
Thanks for the opportunity

Yikes, that is definitely a typo. The doctor failed to heal them despite their best efforts and when they fell sick they were shunned and left to die.

Sorry, had to go and do something
Dulcinea is a half-elven Varisian who specializes in dance and fortune telling (think flamenco). Like her people she is a traveler and is not trusted in most places that she goes. However, just because she is not trusted does not mean that she does not recognize that others should be. Once on a caravan she and her people stopped in the town and a friend of hers was treated by the doctor and nursed back to health. Knowing that he is in trouble, this time as they pass again, she is determined to make sure that he is treated fairly and justly.
I have no problem posting various times throughout the day, weekends might be a bit messier but I am almost done with the grad class I am teaching.
I have been playing on these boards for along time.
Deerslicer |
I'd like to submit Deerslicer, my N goblin ranger. Focuses on ranged attacks. He has a (somewhat mangy) bear animal companion named Gracie. He befriended Gracie as a cub, but when the other goblins tried to eat her, he defended her. He was able to escape the tribe with Gracie in tow. He's since found a contentment traveling and living in the wilderness on his own with Gracie. He has met some other naturalists in his travels, who have introduced him to the worship of Gozreh, though he is not particularly devout.
I've played a number of pbp games, and am usually one of the more frequent posters in those games. Usually if I'm playing locally, I'm running games for my kids and their friends. I've shifted over mostly to Starfinder, but have played a handful of Pathfinder 2E games. I own this scenario, and would be interested in running it, but would like to play it first.
Please tell me in character why you would help a community that would blame their own doctor for being able to heal them and abandon them to death when they eventually got ill from helping others.
Deerslicer shakes his head as he leans over toward Gracie. "Me not get why town would do that. Sounds like a goblin move to me. Goblins always doing dumb stuff like that. But, if the healer got sick, and nobody could help him, guess it makes more sense to leave him alone. That way, the whole town doesn't get sick. Right?" He glances toward the young for confirmation. Gracie blinks at him and yawns. Thinking about it for a moment, Deerslicer mutters to himself, "Still, seems like they could have at least brought him food or something ..."
Watery Soup |
I'm applying with two different characters because I can't decide which one I want to apply with more. One is a scoundrel rogue that is pretending to be a cleric, and another is a spirit barbarian. I'll let them introduce themselves.
I'm an active GM, but quite honestly, all of the characters I want to be in games are in games right now, so I decline special consideration for being a GM.
However, I am interested in both of these characters specifically as characters who are at pivotal moments in their evolutions - and believe that a story arc that covers more time than a normal PFS scenario would be interesting.
Simon Samarian |
Valor Holysword, cleric of Iomedae, draws his longsword and puts it on the ground, kneeling before it.
"Valor Holysword, sworn protector of good."
"The plight of the citizens are paramount."
"Regardless of the sins they've committed, they deserve our aid."
"The Inheritor spoke to me in a dream. This is a quest I must go on."
Build uploaded. I'm still working on the full backstory (including languages), but the frame is there. The idea is that Valais Durant recruited him to the Radiant Oath knowing full well that he is a pretender, but also knowing that deep down inside he will come to believe what he preaches. I'm not sure how long the adventure is meant to last, but the idea is that at 2nd level he will move from N to NG and take a cleric dedication.
Ezaki Glico |
"This sounds like a suicide mission if you ask me. A plague so incurable that people would rather turn their back on their doctors rather than accept whatever little help they offered? Sounds crazy. But it's exactly the kind of thing the spirits within me demand that I do. They say it's my penance. With any luck, I'll contract some kind of plague myself and die."
Build uploaded. I'm still working on the backstory, but the frame is there. The idea is that Qasam is bitter and angry at the beginning, reflecting the bitterness and anger of the spirits within, but at some point he starts undoing the damage he once caused as a scam artist, and channels the anger into a more righteous rage. The goal is for him to evolve from CN to CG over the course of the adventure.
Iceman |
Yikes, that is definitely a typo. The doctor failed to heal them despite their best efforts and when they fell sick they were shunned and left to die.
Thanks for the clarification.
Leaning towards human or half-orc ruffian rogue, but halfling thief or sorcerer is also tempting, depending on party make-up.
Either way, the response is going to be the same:
"I don't blame you at all for that response, folks. They tried, and good on 'em for doing so. I hope you gave 'em all the support they needed while doing their work. But when they failed... and then got sick themselves... well, why risk more healthy bodies? If there's no new doctor, then there's no one qualified to help. [beat] You'll get no guff from me. Life is hard."
