Ah yes, I knew there was something I was missing
Still might be a useful option depending on what form I’m in
miteke
Agreed. The damage done is still based on the primary attack, and if you take the Greater Weapon Shift later you get to add the enhancement bonuses to all your attacks. Now THAT is nice for a druid who normally has to get an amulet of natural fists and forgo the amulet of natural armor to get enhancement bonuses. Worth a feat in my mind.
Tarak Stromblessed
True, or a decent level spell slot for greater magic fang all the time. Certainly something to consider.
Of course then you have to actually spend money on a magic weapon. I had, initially, been planning on getting a magic staff for casting. Guess we’ll see how he evolves, it’s fun when the plan changes
miteke
GMF is nice, almost necessary, but you can get a bigger bonus by using the feat. The other limitation to GMF is that
"This bonus does not allow a natural weapon or unarmed strike to bypass damage reduction aside from magic."
So, if you have a sufficiently boosted weapon you can bypass certain forms of DR you would not otherwise be able to. A pity the feat does not also include materials like adamantine. Adamantine teeth or claws would be much fun.
Tarak Stromblessed
Indeed, I will defiantly have to keep that feat in mind. I wasn’t aware of it so thanks!
Urah Pyr
Amulet of Mighty Fist........might be considered.
Tarak Stromblessed
Yes, but then natural armor gets harder to get and that’s pretty needed for wildshape. One of the reasons I am considering a monk dip, get some of that sweet sweet WIS to armor
Urah Pyr
Unless you're looking for wild tendencies, Shifter gives you the same thing baring some other Monk like abilities.
'Gnasher' Red Claw
(Fast healing 1 and AC 18, right? I have you at -50 HP. Gnasher, did you add the barkskin in to that AC because 11 of that damage just goes away if you are actually at AC 20?)
The 20 includes he fast healing, I put that in the OOC, his AC is normally 22
AC 20 - 2 [rage] - 2 [enlarge] + 2 [barkskin] Rage/enlarged 3rd He has 9 rds available Full attack tooth and claw - 1 attacks
I also included the - 1 for the confusion penalty, but I hadn't included the shimmering carapace, wasn't really sure how much he would be 'looking at it' while clawing and biting. I will make sure I include it on the next attack
Dino Tarak

True, but that's two levels instead of the one. Things to ponder, might just stay pure drood as well.
Or, after I attack Gnasher in a minute the point will be moot, and I'll get to play my cleric after Gnasher shreds me.
Win win, I ... guess?
Urah Pyr
lol
Gnasher gets to choose in this instance.
Big monster or Dino Tarak.
Either way..........I'm sorry guys Urah Will be running away!

Great, he gets 11 HP back. I keep forgetting you put your temporary AC in your last post. Doh!

This is one Hilarious Fight!
Malgrim Gryh
Hilarious...sad...crazy. One of them there things.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone! Its super wet here. Hopefully, everyone has a safe and healthy holidays!
Tarak Stromblessed

Lol, Urah, were you the one who ran away and was therefore the only survivor of our first TPK in the reign of winter campaign too? A … ranger maybe?
Urah Pyr
Nope I was the first one to drop.
Malgrim Gryh
When I assumed some would survive here, I did not consider the DR and penalties. That blunted our attacks pretty badly.
Tarak Stromblessed
Nope I was the first one to drop.
miteke
Tarak, your HP say
hp 35 (4d8 +5 CON, +5 Favored Class) 8 , 5 + 5 + 3 + 4 + 10
I think you should have 3 more HP. If you roll less than average, you are supposed to get 5, so those roles should be 5+5+5+5. See house rules. And you need to find better dice :)
The 4d8 threw me at first, but you actually have 5 die rolls in the math and a +10 which is right for level 5. The only error is from not noticing the house rules.
Tarak Stromblessed
Sounds good, I guess I brain farted the leveling rules from another campaign (which was average or roll), so that’s 38 total and still down and still not stabilized? Though much better shape, for sure.
Urah Pyr

Yes. Do Not cleave. lol

Yep, not quite enough to keep you standing. Which means that you will need someone with a capable UMD or heal skill to keep everyone from bleeding out. Or some successful stabilize rolls.
Tarak Stromblessed
Tarak has heal, scrolls and potions :) just need someone to get him up

All right, I gotta ask, was it Gnasher that hit?
yeah, I love his natural attacks, but if he's fighting something that has DR magic, it really limits him, he'd be better off to stick with the bardiche or another two handed weapon.
I have to admit I did tweak the stats a little and reduced the ER by 5 and added DR 5/good. I did not expect the confusion to be so effective and I wanted a decent final battle.
I hate the way most BBEG in Pathfinders tend to totally neuter blasters with SR and ER and I intend to compensate a bit when that happens so that both the blasters and the melee folks will be able to contribute pretty much equally.

Sorry folks, I thought I put this in discussion, didn't mean to clutter up the game thread. I will get a post up in a couple hours.
edit:I continued reading the game thread, So we let the big-bad that was imprisoned for all these years loose :(
'Gnasher' Red Claw
lol cool :)
Sorry about the slow posting rate, kids and grandkids in town, so on line sparingly, their leaving this afternoon so I'll get a post up then.
'Gnasher' Red Claw
No, actually not. Urah got off one final parting shot and took him down.
Ironic, huh? And it was around the corner of the hallway where nobody could see it happen so he can spin it however he wants.
Man, I am not paying good attention, I just reread where you said that. I 'think I'll go back and reread a few days before I post.
Tarak Stromblessed
Sorry folks, getting smoked by a wicked cold (how did my kid get through this thing so easily, that boy is tough!) I’ll get an in game post up tomorrow morning.

Thus ends book 1. Let me know if you wish to continue and with what character. If you choose to continue with the current characters let me know what the character does during the year of downtime and I will give the character an appropriate boon.
Over the following weeks and months, scores of merchants and settlers arrive and the work of rebuilding the village begins in earnest. Some of these merchants bring magical gear with them that the PCs may be interested in buying with the loot gained. By the end of the year Kelmarane is a thriving village with a population of nearly 500 souls (and a 200 gp limit for purchasing goods).
Yet despite the turn of events for the better, rare are the nights that pass for Kelmarane's new keepers that are not punctuated by distant howls. the Carrion King still lives, and soon his attention shall fall upon Kelmarane!
'Gnasher' Red Claw
To be honest I pirated a lot of that text from another GMs thread. I will do that occasionally.
Imitation is the greatest form of flattery :)
was it book one or two?
Ok, sticking with Gnasher, I'm glad we didn't kill him. I'm not sure I have another character that Wants to be in Katapesh
for a year? Ok, accepts a house, makes Jake (the goblin) his majordomo and spends a little time working with guides, but spends most of his time hunting gnolls. Those who attack any of their people, or any he hears serves the carrion king or Rovagug.
Maybe spend the year practicing with the flindbar just for fun.
Not sure yet what he'll do with the money, depends on the magic items. If he doesn't purchase one of them, maybe he'll get an expensive bow.
Malgrim Gryh
I am sticking with Malgrim. He will focus on aiding the guides with possible routes to and from the city.
Urah Pyr
Urah will stay.
What's he's going to do though..........
lol
Tarak Stromblessed
I’m torn if I want to stick with Tarak, I really am feeling the pull to play a cleric or warpriest
Tarak Stromblessed
Nah, I’ll stick. I’ll get a descriptive post up tonight after I get the kids settled into a movie.
miteke
miteke wrote:To be honest I pirated a lot of that text from another GMs thread. I will do that occasionally.Imitation is the greatest form of flattery :)
Indeed, though a lot of the time it is just not reinventing the wheel. Since I have a paper copy of the AP, I will hunt down box text in other players forums so I don't have to type the whole thing. Of course I would not have bothered with a disclaimer if that was the only time. There are times, like with that lock, that it is indeed flattery. No way I could have written something as nice as that! I couldn't resist when I read that.

I have not heard from Mei. Its possible the RL stuff mentioned and holidays just prevented all posting. But I don't think I have any other games with her so I don't know.
Urah Pyr
Give it the weekend
it's the new year and sometimes, New Year requires oen to recuperate from the festivities.
Happy New Year you all.
'Gnasher' Red Claw
A couple of observations:
Edward (Mei's player) is in three 'active' games, the last post in game was Nov 19 th. He did drop in a discussion on Dec 1 saying he would check in as he could. He's got 27,903 posts a few from 2008-2012 and in 2012 appears to have started playing in games. Which he's been in over a hundred. It sounded like life was pretty difficult in his last post and with his history I'd give him the benefit of the doubt.
Hopefully, things will get back to normal, or if he's dropping this game he'll let us know.
So I'd press on for a bit without Mei and see if she is able to join us in the future. But having said that, I prefer four people parties anyway, they just move quicker.
If we determine we need a fifth, or someone else drops and Mei's player hasn't returned to the boards or has and just not posted here. When we 'recruit' I'd rather 'invite' someone a couple of us have played with and we know is a consistent poster.
Malgrim Gryh
I think waiting a bit for Mei seems like a good idea. Maybe just have her catch back up if/when the player returns. For now I think we are probably ok with the 4 of us pushing forward with the story for at least a while to see if Mei can take care of some things.
