Apologies on the delayed update. Our systems went down at work on Thursday and I got roped into helping with getting things back up and running.

York eyes Eldako before speaking, ”Dopplegangers, indeed. Though, I doubt one would choose to take such an unfortunate appearance.” He peels his eyes from the dhampyr and addresses Sebastian.

”The name does ring a small bell,” York says.

”He was an orderly, sir,” One of the guards chimes in. ”Went missing a couple of days ago after he volunteered to try and get the boilers up ‘n’ runnin’. Guess we know why he never made it back.”

York frowns and turns back to the group, ”I don’t necessarily buy your story about having no memories. But, if you truly did kill one of the things, perhaps we can figure something out. Bring its body and, say, two more? Then we can discuss the possibility of letting you in.” York holds a hand up as one of the guards begins to protest but continues to address the amnesiacs, ”I am sorry to turn you away. I am. I simply have too many people that need protection to let you in without reasonable belief that you aren’t a group of those monsters.”

Sadness marks York’s face as he turns to leave through the same side door. He pauses and speaks without looking at the group before disappearing into the side room, ”May Abadar watch over you.”

"Well, at least they didn't shot us" says the half-elf. He turns to address his companions "Should we take the corpse here first? Maybe bring that of the tortured man too? Maybe they would like to give him a proper burial."

The Kellid woman relaxes slightly, though she keeps her shield half-raised in caution. When her half-elf associate mentions a burial she feels slightly ashamed of herself, though she is not quite sure why.

"I feel we should make an effort to put that man to rest." she says. "In our rush to get out of that horror scene, I let my fear drive me to forget that others had already suffered. Please, since it seems we will have to go back down there, lets make sure we bring him back up as well.

She turns to the door and heads back outside.

"Perhaps we can also make sure we didn't leave anything else down there. I'd hate to have to make a second trip back down."

As Kayalenta steps out into the courtyard once again she finds that the rain is just that, rain. It feels cool on her skin.

The feeling of calm does not last as moments later an explosive peal of thunder splits the silence of the night. With no warning from the flash of lightning the boom threatens to deafen the Kellid woman but she easily staves of the onslaught.

Zylah doesn't come out from hiding until the captain walks away, and even then, she seems to stick to the shadows a bit, looking somewhat more comfortable there. At talk of going back down to the room that they just left, she sighs outwardly. "Must we go back to that room so soon? I feel like the memories are just starting to fall away." She feels a sensation of mirth from within her psyche and gives her shadow a reproachful stare.

Taking no offense to the the captain ‘s comment Eldako remains where he is , when the captain reveals himself to be a cleric inwardly Eldako feels justified by his first impression of the man. does every fool place trust in the gods? , when he mentions the bodies Eldako can’t help but groan , really the shaft again? .

Listening to the others , “I’ll go back and get the bodies I’m probably the only one that can get them up anyways. Of course we could just avoid these people , after all they have already started to panic how soon before they turn on us? Even if they let us in. “

"Better to make allies than enemies," Zylah informs Eldako, her tone of voice very matter-of-fact. "Less likely to stab you in the back when you turn it to them." She looks to the pale man with her too-big eyes, judging his response.

The Kellid woman hears the pale man's offer to go get the bodies and turns back.

"You may be right about your strength, my friend," she says. "but I still feel it would be best for most of us to go down and check it out. Perhaps one of us staying up top to watch our back would be advised, but with the rest down below the job may go quicker and with less chance of danger."

She motions to her shield and continues. "I will stay above if we feel it is in the best interest. I can certainly protect myself if it comes to it."

"I agree with the shield-maiden" says the half-elf, "She will stay back and watch out for anything strange, while we do our best to bring up the bodies."

The kellid woman stands guard inside the confines of the room as the rest of the adventurers head back down the chute. Perhaps it is simply climbing down that makes the climb easier or perhaps it is something more primal - the knowing of what waits at the bottom of the chute as opposed to climbing up into the unknown.

Regardless, the stench of the gore below greets the trio as they head further down the hellish slide, beckoning them like a forgotten friend.

"O.k. Lets go, I'll lead" for the fourth time today Eldako finds his way down the chute. Like a familiar friend Eldako is begging to remember where all the handholds are, Almost like its calling to him. When he loses his grip on the rope it didn't seem to trouble him at all, amazed he continues on his way.

Eladko will take the lead, and as long as there is no trouble ill just get the bodies and head back up. I don't care about anything else, It looks like I might have finally failed my check. so ill as a swift action do my climb speed, and I added a RP touch to the post to use it.

Looking down the chute with a mild disgust, that is only visible as a slight twitch of her left eye, the doll-like halfling girl takes a step back and proclaims, "I will stay up here and help her," she gestures the shield maiden with a brief glance. "I wouldn't be of much use in carrying bodies any ways."

"Alright, you ladies stay here, me and the other guy will bring up the two corpses". That said, the half-elf tries to slowly go down the chute, trying not to crash on the pile of corpses below.

The Kellid shield maiden stays watching the raid continue to fall as she looks out through the cracked door. She looks at the young halfling and her oversized shadow for a second, then returns to watching outside. She speaks softly over her shoulder, trying to figure out if she can trust her new companions. Something about these two specifically feels uncomfortable.

"Young Miss," she whispers. "I know we all seem to have lost not only our memories but our selves as well. Perhaps though you have gained something as well. I cannot say I understand but perhaps your connection to him, er, her, I mean... I am sorry, I don't wish to call your friend a 'thing', but I am not sure how to refer to it in truth. Do you know what the connection you share is?"

I am back at least for the next week I hope. Next weekend I may disappear for a day or two again. Sorry and I will continue to post as much as I can.

Just for reference, when her shade is 'in her shadow', it basically makes itself look like a normal shadow.

Zylah looks at the human woman with curiosity. Her over-large eyes unblinking "I don't know where he came from, or what our connection is, but I at least have the sense that we've been together longer than our time here. More than that is a blank." She finally closes her eyes briefly and adds, "Little miss? I'm fairly certain that I'm full grown. Did you think that I was a child?" She looks at the shield maiden once more, tilting her head just a bit, one corner of her mouth lifting very slightly.

Falling onto the dead bodies in the chute, Eldako climbs down and makes his way towards the dead man and doppleganger. Looking at the Half-elf Eldako says, "Do you think they ALL change after death I mean, could we just bring them three dead bodies and say that they're Dopplegangers? I not, I mean....., that I'm planning anything, but if we happen to find people, right? " Eldako stammers through his thought not used to having someone to talk to.
