Ylosani has drawn his sword up, ready to cut down the undead abomination that sprang from the crypt. He finds it unnecessary as the newcomer easily cuts the creature down with a single blow.

Instead, he turns the sword to the side, laying the blade across his left palm and bows to the man, a show of respect for his skill.

Then, he notices Altovin's glazed look and, grasping his shoulder, gives him a shake.

Actually, I goofed earlier - Romulus also came under the same effect as Altovin.

Ylosani shakes Altovin from his reverie and the others note that Romulus is also now staring out into space, inattentive to the others. To make matters worse, no sooner has Altovin woken up from whatever was occupying his attention, then he once again slips into inattention, staring blankly into space, as if whatever he is seeing is far more interesting than his immediate surroundings! Both of them look distinctly unwell. Both have the sickened condition, and both have now taken 2 WIS dmg.

    Altovin and Romulus:
You are each fascinated by what appear to be a myriad of colors and sounds and smells. The effect is somewhat sickening, but also entrancing. You have both the fascinated and sickened conditions. You've also taken 1 Wis dmg each round. When/if your comrades shake you, you are (temporarily) free of the fascinated condition (and may speak and act normally) but, as you've seen, something is causing you to slip back into the fascinated condition.

@Everyone: due to the PbP format this could really bog down the game for much longer than I think any of us would like, so I'll keep things moving pretty expeditiously for this portion. If I post before you've had a chance to post your actions, feel free to to post multiple rounds worth at one go. We remain in rounds because reasons, but we are not in combat and it doesn't matter what order you post in.

Start of Round 3! Both Altovin and Romulus need to make Fort saves (Altovin, the Guidance from Courage was used on your last save, though of course he can cast it again if you wish).

"Enough," Ylosani mutters. He picks up Altovin and carries him out of the room.

"Does anyone have the capacity to see magic?"

I moved my token but not Altovin's, in case there is some reason why I can't, including that he doesn't want to be moved.

Dasus smiles and starts to say something, likely modest, at the compliments from Yanda in the bow of Ylosani, but then attention is drawn to the others.

He follows them out to the hall, and says, with a very concerned look on his face, "Did anybody see them pick up anything recently, maybe before I got back? Or were they hit in the previous fight? They may have been poisoned." It's a wild and completely uneducated guess, only based on the previous conversation.

Yanda seems to get to the idea before he does, and when he realizes what she's feeding Romulus even as he's saying this, he nods, and says, "I hope that helps."

A full minute passes before Romulus finally feels the effects of the poison work their way through his system, and even after that he feels sick to his stomach for two more minutes. Finally, the hallucinations have passed and he no longer feels on the verge of vomiting, but it is clear that he is still not completely well. Total Wis dmg = 10

Altovin's tiny familiar also remains entranced by the hallucinations for almost a minute, and sickened for quite some time after that. And like Romulus, it's clear that the bird is suffering some prolonged effects from the poison. Total Wis dmg = 8

I'll be happy to explain the game mechanics behind all that if people are interested, but let's wait until the end of the level - we are nearing the finale.

What would you like to do?

Dasus is, normally, one of the least wise of the group. Intelligent and logical, but impulsive and trusting and overconfident, as well as easily distracted. Still, seeing Romulus this way seems to shock him into a moment of more careful consideration. Enough to remember the part of his oath to Apsu about retreating when necessary.

"How many more would you guess there are, based on what you saw earlier? If there are many, we should retreat. We can recover and finish them off. But if there's only a few, Romulus and Altovin can stay back, stay out of danger while we deal with them."

It's hard to say how many more there may be. At the very least, there were two crossbowmen who knocked Heccuba out before retreating, but I can't remember if anyone but Heccuba ever saw them (Altovin, possibly?). Reminder: there are some unconscious guards back in the very first room if you wish to revive and interrogate them.

Ylosani is ready to take Romulus' words as confirmation to move on. But, driven though he may be, he recognizes the value of good reconnaissance. Most of them are suffering some kind of lingering wounds from being down here and continuing on without being at their best is a sure way to face defeat.

He stands, ready to move on when someone has gotten the information they need.

When the pathfinders open the door to the west they see a small armory. Weapon racks and wooden wardrobes line the walls of this room. The dummies in the center of the room wear suits of armor. The racks and arming dummies contain 10 short swords, 12 daggers, four light crossbows, three composite short bows (+2 Str), two suits of leather armor, and three suits of padded armor. The wardrobes contain 15 blood-red ceremonial robes. Twelve masks hang on the wall near the door; each consists of a brass nosepiece with cheek guards, from which a veil of red silk hangs.
