Unnvar the Solemn |
Confusion: 1d100 ⇒ 41
Bebadabble...ujhhh....Bebadabble...
Emberwik |
Unnvar, Wilk, and Torag heal another 4hp. 8 Rounds remaining.
Torrag Grimm |
Confusion: 1d100 ⇒ 97
Attack nearest creature. Who might that be? There's a lot of squares on the map.
Emberwik |
@Torrag The squares are Greater path of Glory. If you end your turn in that square, you heal 4hp.
Doctor Meiosa |
A large and very frustrated Meiosa lands near the cloud, readying her equally large longspear in her hands.
"Fine. Stay in your little cloud. You'll die in there."
Deciding to keep herself at a safe distance, stabbing roughly towards the center of the cloud. It's her assumption that the dragon's size would limit the places it couldn't be.
Longspear, Power Attack, cloud penalty: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19
full concealment, above 50 hits: 1d100 ⇒ 67
damage, cloud penalty: 2d6 + 17 ⇒ (1, 2) + 17 = 20
Landing, targeting the square 15 feet from Meiosa's lower left square, and 10 feet off the ground.
GM Batpony |
Meiosa, seems you ninja'd me. YOu would know the information below, but the attack roll misses. Not sure if you have changed your movement though.
Wilk points and howls towards the an area inside the fog, identifying where Sunderheart hides, the stench of his blood is wreaks in the wolves noise.
The fireball engulfs a large area, but unfortunately doesn't disperse the fog, nor cause the fog to catch fire!
Reflex: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17
As I understand from the spell text, only strong winds is able to disperse to fog after 1 round.
Torrag: 1d2 ⇒ 1
The fog does not stop sounds, so you all would hear Torrag fighting something in the fog. Thus being able to know that the dragon is no longer flying as is on ground level in that very square highlighted by the wolf! Talk about luck! I'm just trying to visualize the whole fight right now, and it's awesome sounding in my head.
Torrag attacks the dragon!
Wilk's earlier movement would have provoked AoO, but the creature wants to maintain its hidden spot thus did not react to Wilk.

Round 17/18
Rudzik -12 (confused x 1) , Wilk -26 (confused x 4)
Woundwyrm -220 (+??ft)
Eadie -1 (+35ft), Emberwik
Unnvar -31 (confused), Torrag -16 (confused),
Meiosa -12
He's very close to unconciousness! Come on Pathfinders! The first round of Rudzik's attack vs FF made a huge difference in the fight. It could have been really bad if he got into the fog early without taking any hits.
Emberwik |
As I understand from the spell text, only strong winds is able to disperse to fog after 1 round.
YOU CANNOT STOP MY BLIND OPTIMISM!
...Ok, so need some sort of air-based mechanic to get rid of the fog. At least it seems like I hit the Dargon still :D
GM Batpony |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
and blind optimism nearly took out the dragon! Hopefully Eadie does the trick to finish off Sunderheart!
Eadie Navhelan |
Round #2: AC 27 (charge + haste) DR 3/-, soothe syrup, freedom of movement, barkskin (30 mins), fly (5 mins), shield (6/10), enlarge person (7/10), bless weapon (8/10), bless, haste (9/11) ☤ 125/126 hp ☤
I guess this is it.
Knowing the fog wall is 30’ high, and the dragon is 15’ tall, Eadie decides to charge downwards into the mid-level at 45 degrees in front of the fog cloud, and hope for the best. (hasted movement charge)
Movement provokes!
A ghostly serpentine movement and Unnvar’s accompanying cry, help guide her blade to the correct layer.
falchion + PA + FF + charge + bless + haste + str22 – enlarged + higher ground: 1d20 + 21 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 1 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 21 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 1 - 1 + 1 = 40
good enlarged magical adamantine slashing damage: 2d6 + 24 ⇒ (6, 3) + 24 = 33
miss chance, high is good in d20 games: 1d100 ⇒ 75
GM Batpony |
Technically can't charge RAW, as you cannot charge a concealed enemy, but even without that bonus it would hit and kill Sunderheart! Evemy down, but the fog and confusion remains and those now inside it need to resolve it. Those who are in the fog make your rolls, if you can act normally and leave the fog, roll a d6 to see how many extra rounds the confusion persist. The fog will remain another 8 rounds.
Eadie needs to make a save vs confusion at the start of her next round to see if she's affected.
Eadie Navhelan |
Will + lucky horseshoe: 1d20 + 16 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 16 + 3 = 30
Eadie is confused at the sounds of fighting continuing inside the fog cloud, despite the sensation of limp meat sliding off her enchanted blade.
“Stand down, guys. We did it together!”
Doctor Meiosa |
"Hah! Good job, everyone. This ought to set them back quite a bit."
The enlarged doctor flies around to the opposite end of the cloud, planing her feet firmly within the Greater Path spell. Secure in Emberwick's healing prowess, she plunges her arms into the acidic cloud, hauling the fresh corpse out of it. As the battle rages on around her, she quickly gets to work taking brain, muscle, and scale samples from the body.
"Oh, I really should thank the demon's commander for such a fine bounty. Right before we take his head, of course."
She seems to be entirely distracted from the sounds of dwarven fighting.

Unnvar regains his senses finally. Dragon?
He then gets out his healing wand.
CLW: 6d8 + 6 ⇒ (6, 3, 4, 4, 5, 3) + 6 = 31
Emberwik |
Reasonable to say you got Greater Path, since each round I would just keep expanding it until I could heal as many people as possible.
Unnvar the Solemn |
So how much total healing, Emberwik?
Emberwik |
40 for Unnvar
Sir Wilk |
Rudzik Confused: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Wilk Confused: 4d4 ⇒ (1, 2, 4, 3) = 10
As Rudzik finishes babbling on about brooks and how they really represent love, life, and the human condition (you know), Wilk starts whining and howling in a jumbled, confused mess before snapping at Rudzik and pulling him off his back onto the blood-soaked dirt. Wilk then proceeds to spin around really fast and achieve every dog's dream of catching his own tail. He bites hard, then suddenly looks at his master sheepishly through a mouthful of fur.
Bite, Bless, Haste, Sickened vs AC 21: 1d20 + 13 + 1 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 13 + 1 + 1 - 2 = 32

Self-damage, Sickened: 1d8 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 7 - 2 = 8
Looks like Emberwik's healing will take care of the damage - but not the loss of dignity unfortunately.
Unnvar the Solemn |
So I should be at full hp -- let me know if you see it otherwise GM
Unnvar looks to Eadie who seems to be growing weary from the long day of battle.
Looks like the battle is nearly won...let's relish in the gore of one more dead demon general! It's clear Unnvar's blood lust is insatiable. Then gives a look to Emberwik...
There's more pain yet to cause!
He then looks to the Doc, Torag, and Rudzik. A solemn expression on his face, but an excitement in his deep black eyes.

I'll assume everyone healed thanks to Emberwik
Eadie bravely jumps into the fog at the sound of combat and swings her kukri in a circular motion hoping her blade cuts through the dragon. Her risk proves to be worthwhile as the strong swooping moment cuts deep into the already injured Sunderheart causing him to yell in pain for the very last time.
The Pathfinders, tired, injured, and confused, take a moment to recover themselves in the midst of a heated battle. But soon it becomes clearly evident, the valiant efforts of the Pathfinder and crusaders have paid off as the enemy line recedes away from the city walls.
Rounds 18 + 8+ d4 is: 18 + 8 + 1d4 ⇒ 18 + 8 + (1) = 27
Some groups, sustaining heavy injuries slowly make their way back towards the wall, making sure to cut down every demon along the way as a reassurance of their death. A few bold Pathfinders stay high in the formation continuously chasing off any small renegade faction of demons who think they stand any sort of chance in hopefully turning the battle against humankind.
One of these creatures, heading in your direction, is a huge towering structure of bone and rotting flesh lurk hundreds of flittering fiends. Huge in size
I could not describe it better than the book text, in fact, I can't find a picture to even token it! But imagine a moving cage made of pieced together bone and flesh, with hundreds of demonic flies inside it, that's what it probably looks like. Like swarm in can share the same spot as you, But it's not a really swarm per say, there's variation to how it takes damage as it does not have the swarm trait . It's a moving structure with a swarm inside. Kn Planes DC14 identifies.

Oh, is this the thing on the cover of the scenario?
Moving Wilk into position, Rudzik uses the last of his holy arrows against the tower. "Does anyone have something to deal with the swarms inside this thing?" he yells to his companions as he guides Wilk to the side before raising his bow. Ignoring the tiny fiends, he targets the structure itself.

Oh, is this the thing on the cover of the scenario?
Reading the description further, it suggest that this living swarm can shape the bone shell structure into a walking pillar, so it is the cover art creature! Updated the visuals accordingly. Also the creatures inside the tower is "diminutive" and the "legs" of the tower has 10ft reach.
Rudzik's arrow pierces through the structure somewhat damaging it. However the flying diminutive imp like creatures inside seem to be unfazed by the attack.
A flaming boulder suddenly knocks against the monstrous tower! The creature is stumbling momentarily. Staggered for 1 round. Staggered for the moment, the creature stands it's ground shifting it's position a little bit and braces itself. 5 ft and ready action.

Also, does the Holy damage from the previous arrows affect the swarm?

GM Batpony |
Torrag and Emberwik know this creature as a Kakuen-Taka, a swarm of evil beings that devours the corpse of being of great size , usually while they are still alive, and reconfigures the corpse in to a hideous multilegged pillar, which they then invade and inhabit like a hollow tree. The "flesh mansion" itself isn't alive, but is animated by the collective strength of these swarm beings.
Mechanically, a diminutive creatures they are immune to weapon damage. But the shell also provides special rules, all damage against them is spilt 50/50, the shell has "hp" and is destroyed once it has taken enough damage. So with regards to Rudzik's attacks, half was taken by shell, and half was taken by swarm, but because swarm is immune to weapon damage, therefore it took zero. While in the mansion they don't function like a normal swarm, i.e. no swarm trait and don't take 1.5 dmg from area attacks, and kinda act like this transformed giant tower creature. Creature is resistant 10 to all elements and immune to posion, SR25.
Torrag and Emberwik, knowing what you do now, do you continue casting that spell? Fireball and Acidic spray are subjected to SR.
Rudzik's arrows continue chipping away the integrity of the flesh mansion but has no effect on the living beings as they arrows pass through without affecting the swarm.

Damn.
Would I think it would be subject to Flesh to Stone?
Emberwik |
No, I will retcon my turn and cast the more deadly spell; Eadie.
Hey Eadie, wanna be thrown into Full Action Attack position, AND get an immediate action attack?
Emberwik casts the Spell Shadow Evocation upon his ally, Eadie, hoping she willingly lets the shadows guide her. He thrusts her into battle against the colossal tower! "Believe in the shadows, and they will guide you to victory, Eadie!"
Shadow Evocation - > Telekinetic Charge
Move up to 50ft closer with the effects of Telekinetic Charge, have an immediate attack action.
If I get no response today, I'll assume yes and we will throw you into melee :D
Unnvar the Solemn |
That thing is awesome and terrifying! Unnvar's foolishly getting in there.
Face contorting in a serpentine way, Unnvar activates his boots by clicking his heals together. He then flies up into the air, circling around the creature and to a height of 20 feet in the air. He takes a swing at the "flesh mansion"!

GM Batpony |
Would I think it would be subject to Flesh to Stone?
The flesh mansion, definitely possible, but the swarm inside it, no. But you would effectively change the dynamics when it is without it's shell.
Doctor Meiosa |
Considering the height of the monster and the fact that we'd see it coming, would it be fair to say Meiosa took to the skies about 10 feet up before the fight started?
The doctor purses her lips as she sees the towering monster approach. "I'll give them one thing. This is new. This is definitely new!"
With a cocky grin, Meiosa rushes towards their opponent, hoping to test her claws and teeth against its shell.

OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT
The Society’s finest have dealt a great blow to the demonic generals.
The host of Demons seems to have lost coordination as they engage along the battle lines, with the Generals mostly cut down and the siege engines still firing, the horde starts falling apart.
The demons go into retreat or are cut down by the crusaders and Pathfinders who swarm those foolish enough to stay. With the host in retreat, the defenders also start recovering the injured and slain.
The dust settles as surviving Pathfinders find their way back to the Starrise Citadel. Dozens lie wounded, some bearing injuries that may prove fatal. Smoke chokes the air as crusaders continue to douse still-burning buildings whose flames are now mercifully under control.
Venture-Captain Jorsal silently walks up and down the lines of Pathfinders. He rarely speaks, only giving an understanding nod or a comforting smile. The arrival of a squad of battered crusaders from the center of the city breaks the grim moment. At their head rides a stern woman bedecked in shining full plate engraved with intricate gold filigree. Her weapon is coated in what must be demonic ichor, and several of her helmet’s once beautiful blue plumes are charred. This can only be Queen Galfrey, crusader queen of Mendev and leader of Nerosyan.
She brings her entourage to a halt and addresses the assembled Pathfinders. “Words cannot express the gratitude of Mendev. What your Society has done here today goes well beyond what duty required. I have learned that this attack was just one of many in a coordinated assault against all of Mendev, and that our wardstones have failed us, disabled by some demonic treachery. Our city only stands thanks to the efforts of those such as yourselves. I have spoken with Venture- Captain Jorsal, and Mendev shall do whatever it can to aid you in reaching the Sky Citadel of Jormurdun—so long as doing so does not interfere with the new war".
“Now, I must depart for the city of Kenabres to inspect the damage done there. Woefully, it did not have the benefit of the Pathfinder Society’s assistance when it was assaulted, and all reports indicate the city is now completely ruined.” She pauses, worry visible on her face before concluding, “Thank you, all of you for your efforts here today.” Without another word, Queen Galfrey and her entourage turn and leave. The remaining Pathfinder survivors stand united, under the still-brilliant light of the Starrise Spire.
Unable to breach the walls of the city with their primary army, the demons have broken into a full retreat. The crusaders are ready to strike back against the demons. Congratulations Pathfinders on your overwhelming victory!
