The trap did not reset! DC17 so Torrag and Eadie will take 25 dmg.

After the magical trap activates, a quick sweep around the safehouse discovers that it is now safe for inhabitants. The scared citizens thank you and immediately run into the building to hide away from the demons that are causing turmoil all over the city.

As you move about the streets, you hear that the demons have become bold and have moved against the Starrise Spire! Assaulting the remaining Pathfinders from without and within. Seeking demons to vanquish, you head to the Confluence District to be immediately met by Kreighton Shaine, the Soceity's Master of Scrolls himself!

“Friends, the demons have found their way into the Starrise Spire and show no signs of relenting. Even now, agents battle them within the lodge, and we cannot keep this up. Luckily, I have been researching some ancient rituals that should allow us to keep the demons outside of the Spire, and give us time to regroup. I know the rites, but I need protection while I enact them. I trust you will protect me while I do this dangerous deed, yes?”

Begin Act 3!

You wait eagerly for some sort of attack, but in the next few moments as the Master of Scrolls runs the ritual is seemingly uneventful.Soon after, smoke rises across Nerosyan as the clamor of battle dies down. Venture-Captain Jorsal stands vigil over the Woundward ramparts of the city, looking out at a black cloud that descends from the northwest. He turns and speaking with grim resolve. “The attack within Nerosyan is defeated, but the demons have led an army from the Worldwound to our doorstep. I must move swiftly to warn the others of what is happening. “As for your mission... Look out to the fields below—you should be able to determine the greatest threats within the enemy army. You are the most experienced Pathfinders here in Nerosyan, so I trust you to make the best decisions about where your talents should be used.”

You quickly make your way towards the wall to get a good vantage point of the oncoming forces. On the horizon, thousands of lesser demons hoot and cavort, while larger demons confidently stride ahead, supported by their foul kakuen-taka siege towers. An army of Mendevian crusaders rush out to see the attack, and visible battle lines bgin to form outside of the city walls as the crusaders strive to keep the siege tower away from the walls.

In addition, somewhere along the battle lines, you catch a glimpse of a radiant figure surrounded by the most elite of knights, leading the charge, and slaughtering demons effortlessly and gracefully.

A familiar face approaches you, Commander Neylan. "So you've come to face the horde straight on? I respect that and know that we would surly need all the help we can get. My scout has told me of four areas on the field that we're in dire need of reinforcement. We do not know what they are, but I'll try to describe them the best I can. Two slimy lizard like demons with an overwhelming stench. A half crab demon. A giant worm. And if the reports are accurate, a dragon!"

Pathfinders, which target would you desire to take down first?"

To the crab monster! Kn. Planes DC23 to identify.

You immediately take arms and trudge through the battlefield in search of a half-crab fiend like creature. Eventually you come to a small section where crusaders turn on their own while a towering beast, with crab like pincers chuckles menacingly in the background of it all, tearing apart the crusaders with it's claws. Calling it a half crab, doesn't do justice to the description as it looks more like a medley of beast and monsters, something out of nightmares. The demon wears a double-stranded necklace strung with crusaders’ helms.

Reverse Gravity, No Saves, if you currently do not possess flying speed / levitate you will fall upwards, and stay stuck up in the air for the next 14 rounds. At this present time, based on the forum feedback, that would 500ft in the first round. That means at the end of 14 rounds, 20d6 fall damage. Because of the barren ground, there is no reflex save to attempt to grab hold of something to secure yourself.

This spell reverses gravity in an area, causing unattached objects and creatures in the area to fall upward and reach the top of the area in 1 round. If a solid object (such as a ceiling) is encountered in this fall, falling objects and creatures strike it in the same manner as they would during a normal downward fall. If an object or creature reaches the top of the area without striking anything, it remains there, oscillating slightly, until the spell ends. At the end of the spell duration, affected objects and creatures fall downward.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like the spell only affects a number of 10 ft cubes equal to the demon's CL (looks like 14), placed adjacent to each other into one (irregular) shape. So the demon has 14 "boxes" of reversed gravity to place as it wants, each 10 ft high. Someone in a cube falls upwards to the top of that cube, then hangs out until the spell ends - if cubes are stacked on top of each other, they'd keep falling up until they ran out of cubes and hang out at the top of the highest one. I guess it could stack them all on top of each other and send one person high into the sky, but that doesn't seem to be its plan.

Also, why does the combat summary say it has 5 images? And it looks like it's also Eadie, Torrag, and Emberwik's turns too.

5 images is a typo, was going to cast mirror image but then thought reverse gravity is way cooler. So I think I grossly misinterpreted the spell as Rudzik pointed out, so I drew out the boxes, 4 out of 5 boxes would cover all of you, so assuming that those four are stacked, that's a 30ft height that everyone would be falling towards. Based on the spell text, I believe you're still able to make regular actions upside down besides moving (unless you can fly)

And yes, everyone is up! Another overlook during formatting. Sorry everyone!

And yes, if you can choose to fall during normal flight, you can surely choose to fall in reverse gravity!

Eadie:
Hate to ask this but when I had the map drawn, you were one square back in position, recognizing the limitations and assumptions made by PBP, the creature would have the full intention to make sure the gravity you were in is forcing you 30ft up (feather fall is still a 60ft fall per round), and perhaps Torrag would be out of the spell affect area since he is constantly flying. Anyway, the point i'm trying to make is, while I buy the idea of lunge midair, and even at 30ft "fall" it might have been possible from a height perspective, but if you were one square back it would not have been possible from a horizontal perspective. Feather fall does not grant you directional falling, so you would be 20 ft away just out of lunge opportunity. I've marked out where I thought you would be on the map while enlarged.

Unfortunately out of reach! A huge monster would be occupying a 15 foot cube, where as a medium sized creature is occupying a 5ft cube. So from a side view it kinda looks like this.

I've redrawn the squares based on Eadie's sized. So to visualize it better, orange square is 10ft in height, yellow squares is 30ft in height. The wolf is in 3/4 squares, so i'd imagine the gravity is unbalanced but he'd still fall at least 20-25ft in height assuming 75% of his body is in the reversed gravity.

At the moment, If I'm not mistaken the peeps not "falling" and actively flying is Meiosa and Torag. I'm not sure about Emberwik.

Fort: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (17) + 18 = 35

The creature stands his ground against Torag's disintegration spell.

Unnvar unfortunately, based on the spell description, unless you have a fly speed or can levitate, you would not be able to move. Also, you cannot 5ft in the air unless you have a fly speed.

Thanks Eadie/Unnvar for pointing out the damage I missed carrying over. The demon certainly did not heal.

Emberwik realises the creature is that of a Glabrezu, cousins of the succubus. A mean and ugly cousin of the succubus, when it's not in it's monstrous form, it relies on deception to fool the masses. It is naturally resistant to all elements (immune to electricity and poison), and has a relatively strong spell resistance (SR24). It is a naturally slow creature due to it's size but makes up for it in power. Weakest save is Dex.

Eadie reacts and adapts to her situation, making full use of her armoury. Although not her first weapon of choice, she shows she is equally adept in using the Lucerne hammer and strikes the demon from a distance by awkwardly stretching herself in midair.

We were reminded on the GM thread that aid tokens do not carry over into this act. There's a different aid mechanic in act III. Each tier group is doing different things, the higher the tier group, the deeper into combat they are. So as successes build up, somehow we'll be aiding the other tier groups and they will be aiding. Hopefully we get to see that soon!

On the same note, the Rudzik's attack would render the demon unconscious, but not dead.

The demon stands strong against Meiosa's offence, blocking everything but her grabbing bite. Before he is able to respond to her query, the sharpshooter Rudzik adapts to the gravitational affects and fires an arrow that flies unusually but hitting the target square in the eye nonetheless that renders him unconscious. With the demon downed, the gravity returns to normal forcing those who oscillate weirdly to fall straight back to the ground.

I'm imagining how cool Rudzik's arrows would fly visually in this situation, does he aim towards the ground so it curves upward? Or does he play between the two gravitational fields and have the arrow oscillating in between? The possibility of tricks are endless!

Those who fall take 3d6 points of damage, or 2d6 for Sir Wilk.

Since the successes haven't build up enough for aids yet, it would make sense to head to the Hezrou's first. I'd imagine we'd take about d4 rounds to move to the next encounter by searching/listening to rumours on the battlefield. But before that, is there any extra downtime you would like to take after this combat for healing/changing weapons, coup-de-grace?...etc, I'd reckon we'd need one round at least to pick up weapons and stand from prone. Mechanically i'll just continue the round counter for this act.
