I'm on a business trip from early Wednesday to late Friday. Posting will be difficult.
cheers

Have a safe trip. :)

Arianna, I was just now noticing that you AC is really 14(!!)
Did you want to ask the DM for an upgrade at some point?
Even Studded leather, or Breastplate, would be an upgrade.

Hey is everyone playing Solasta? MY elevator pitch to people is that it is for 5E what Baldur's Gate was for 2E, but even that doesn't do it justice. With the Unfinished Business community mod (that is, literally, always improving. Every day I get a prompt for an update) it literally doubles the game, and the optional DLCs double even that.
I was thinking of a concept for a short-rest only party. I'm thinking about two Warlocks, a fighter, and either a druid or a monk.

Don’t forget Aterro’s divine sense to detect undead.

At some point I really do need to, but Arianna's always been more backline than front line. Plus she really doesn't have the strength to be as effective in melee as even Gunnar has been.
Arianna Moonwood
That's kinda been the plan. :P

That's a fine suggestion, but the range is only 60 feet. Since we were talking about things in trees, I didn't think I could even reach up there.
If we find cause enough to actually climb up and start searching, then, yeah, I should totally do that. A couple of times, most like.

Assume Luthael shows you the ladder. No time for gameplay post

Hey all, sorry for being gone the past two days. I had to watch my mom's and sister's doggies Thursday night and didn't get any sleep at all that night. I was just drained Friday.

Hey DM, I've been forgetting half of my Aura of Conquest words:
If a creature is frightened of you, its speed is reduced to 0 while in the aura, and that creature takes psychic damage equal to half your paladin level if it starts its turn there.
Usually it's just one creature that I'm still fighting with, so it might be easier for me to just mention it at the start of my posts.

@Ingryd: Please try to remember that Tareth is an Intelligent DM(tm). This means that we can't just leap into the middle of a fight and start rolling dice, like we do with most other DMs. (Hey, I'm guilty of this too.)
I know you need to keep attacking to keep Rage, but if you leapt, by yourself, unsupported, into a full six of those things, that might not go well. We need you in our full effort.
This is actually a strategy I use in Solasta. Because Guardian Spirits has such a HUUUUGE area, it's much fun to make a melee line within it and just let the enemy impale themselves on that buzzsaw. =]

@All:
Question about Eldritch Blast.
The wording the spell is kinda odd.
It says there are +1 beams at 5th level. Okay, good.
But is it just +1 die, or a full +1 attack?
Like, Agonizing Blast add the Ability damage, so does it add it once, as in, per spell, or does it add it twice, as if a Ranger was firing two arrows?
So too, Hex adds +1d6 per hit, so does it still count as 1, or is it now twice?
Arianna Moonwood
You get two attacks. The effects apply to all attacks, as far as I know.
The spell creates more than one beam when you reach higher levels: two beams at 5th level, three beams at 11th level, and four beams at 17th level. You can direct the beams at the same target or at different ones. Make a separate attack roll for each beam.
Gunnar Thorstein
To the other members of his party, Gunnar appeared to be enveloped by the tentacled creature and then explode with a thunderous burst, leaving nary a trace behind...
What a cool and thematic spell!
Gunnar Thorstein
@Ingryd, I think reckless attack gives you advantage on all your attacks for the round (but opponents get advantage on all their attacks against you too).

I have it in my Profile for Ingryd. It reads like its just the first attack. I will reread it, and post it.

Reckless Attack
Starting at 2nd level, you can throw aside all concern for defense to attack with fierce desperation. When you make your first attack on your turn, you can decide to attack recklessly. Doing so gives you advantage on melee weapon attack rolls using Strength during this turn, but attack rolls against you have advantage until your next turn.
Hmmm you maybe right, I declare it on my first attack and all attacks this turn get advantage.
DM - Tareth
He sends twin bolts of eldritch fire at the nearest wall, daring the twig-and-mottle walls to resist his righteousness.
Unfortunately, Eldritch Blast cannot target or effect anything but a creature. (Believe my own warlocks have had to deal with this odd limitation many times before.) Now you might say the tree is a living creature. Not in this case. It is not because as shown in the narrative the trees within the village are all dead or so sick and dormant that they would not qualify. And unless it was truly animated or something, I don't think a regular, mundane tree or plant would qualify as a "creature" anyway. A monstrous tree or plant certainly would, but this isn't the case at the moment.
So if you wish to bust through the wall, then another option must be used. Personally, I'd consider the raging battering ram, a.k.a. maul wielding bearkin, as a suitable alternative option, but there's plenty of other destructive firepower in this group. :)
Brother Aterro

I admit I did not know that.
Raging battering ram with a Shoulder of Righteousness it is!

For any who might be interested, I opened a new interest check/recruitment thread for a Band of Blades game using the Forged in the Dark rules. If any of you are interested and would like to see a copy of the full rules, just PM me. You can certainly get the basics through the Blades in the Dark SRD and the Band of Blades sheets. You don't actually need to the book to play, but it does offer a bit more rules detail and a little bit more world info/background info than the playbooks.
Arianna Moonwood
Posted my interest. I think I've got room on my dace card for one more game.
I've been mulling over whether or not I should run a game again, and I have one person on the boards who's already told me I should. I'm not sure what I'd run, but I'd like to see how things turn out with your interest check before I start working one something as more than just a thought exercise.
DM-Salsa
Hey all, I'm planning on running at least a short game. I'm not sure what yet, but if you're interested and want a chance to help with building the campaign, then here's the link: Interest check Thread
I'm planning on keeping this thread open for a couple of weeks to give people a chance to hop in and join the discussion. Once I know where things are going, I'll get things fleshed out and get everything I need together before opening up a recruitment thread.

Ingrid, if you are just rolling to hit with advantage, you only need to roll the d20 twice, not damage.
Unless you do get 4 attacks a round in which case lay on!

Huzzah! Dump as many crits on this demon as we can!

Dang, Aterro, bend her over your knee and spank her why don't you?
Arianna Moonwood
Okay, so here's what I'm thinking. We quickly look through the village for survivors, supplies, and clues about what else we might be facing. Find some place safe to take a rest (Short or Long depending on how we're all feeling. Arianna's in pretty good shape besides being short on arrows.) Then, we find where the heart is and get it back to its rightful place before we see if we're too late to mop up the slave ring.
Thoughts?
Brother Aterro

I'm coming back to this idea of Long Rest.
Gunnar? I don't think those ghouls are going anywhere, and this might be a tough fight.
If they wanted to kill that tree they would have by now.
Gunnar Thorstein
Smart, but difficult to handle emotionally, letting the tree continue to be tortured.
We don’t have to fly..we could just fall with style using [spell]Featherfall[/spell] like paratroopers…
…or the steps, sure…

Too bad we don't have a wizard that can cast Hyperbolic Time Chamber.

Hey all, just a quick heads up that I'm going to be traveling for work next week. Many meetings and full days so my ability to post may be pretty limited. I'll try to post as possible, but things may be a little slower than usual until Friday.

And Kali took my spear! =p

"I stuck it in the GROUND to show her her proper PLACE after she showed ME much INSOLENCE! It is the WARRIOR who controls the weapon, NOT the other way around!
That is the way of things and how DISCIPLINE brings VICTORY. Not that you would know much about either."
Kalisuel
"Perhaps not, but I also know how to not treat a weapon thanks to your example."
Arianna Moonwood
I'm thinking the temple where a bunt of the villages were given the Vlad Special is probably not the best place to sleep with a trio of kiddos in tow. I was thinking about having Arianna run grab Gunnar and Aterro and bring them to the hideout where they have been staying.
GM, this sounded like the last place left for Arianna to look through. Am I correct in that assumption?
Arianna Moonwood
I did, got a 29. :D
Arianna Moonwood
Welp, I just paid for that nat 20 on the previous stealth roll. GM, could I make a suggestion on how this blows up in Arianna's face?
Arianna Moonwood
@Luthael: You and Gunnar are invisible, so you shouldn't have disadvantage on that roll.
So, I was going to lead them up onto the balcony and launch the attack from there. I was thinking that Arianna could fall through a weak spot on the floor onto the same level as the ghouls are on.
