Well as far as my interest:
1. Weird West
2. Battletech
3. Scum and Villany
4. Wicked Ones
5. Band of Blades
6. One Ring

I have a 5e game I need to start on here after that I am looking at some old school be it a 1e/2e DnD style game or straight Hackmaster 4e not sure but something like that. Probably the temple of Elemental Evil

Arianna Moonwood |

Allow me to second Scram's list. That's pretty close to what I'd be interested in, though FATE Battletech would be #1 on my list.

Scramsax |

Only reason FATE isn't number 1 for me is that I haven't played any Blades in the Dark games before.

Derp. I misread my status bar.
Half-tempted to leave it since it was my bone-head mistake.

DM, I was reading some stories about people using the Pigments. I may have misinterpreted the item text and wanted to get some thoughts. My original interpretation was roll a d4, and thats how many uses you get. Other people's interpretation is roll a d4, thats how many pots you get...and each pot can paint 1000 square feet of surface to create 10,000 cubic feet of landscape or whatever.
So say I wanted to cut down Invictusol's mom's oak tree (I don't), I could paint a super thin cut line across the trunk. This would be nowhere near 10000 cubic feet and wouldn't subtract a pot from the total pots. Is that how I can play this? Say the line was 3 ft (36 inches) across and 0.1 in wide. That would be only 3.6 square feet taken from the pot's pool of 1000. Meaning this is an item I could be using much more often.
Thoughts? Thanks.

DM - Tareth |

Reading the description, yes, each pot allows for 1000 square feet of surface to be painted. However, they also seem to want people to track the total cubic feet of anything painted up to 10,000 per pot. This...is ridiculous in my mind just for the pain in the ass tracking. It looks like they really built this off of being able to 'paint' 10, 10'x10'x10' 'rooms' for a total of 1000 square feet or 10,000 cubic feet.
I'd rather just make it 10 uses per pot. Each use up to 100 sq ft. If you want to do something larger, just spend another use. It might be a bit of a nerf, but that makes it easier to track and a little less of a permanent boon. Also keep in mind, it takes 10 minutes to paint 100 square feet. (Which seems pretty fast IMO.) But even at that rate a smaller item would still take a minute or more with say the minimum amount of time needed being three rounds. One to ready the paint and brush, one to paint, one to grab and use whatever item created. That would be for something like 1 or 2 square feet.
Anyway, those are my thoughts.

Scramsax |

Sounds good, surely he used a full pot for Stalker's Retreat. Will start tracking the remaining pots that way.

As soon as I get through our annual organizational audit, it looks like I'll have to dust off those FATE Battletech rules and put a bit more polish on them along with getting ready for some Fistfull of Darkness and maybe a little DCC to keep a bit of fantasy in the mix. There's nothing like the DCC funnel for a little 0 level fun. Of course for PbP, I'd probably have it so each person only runs 1 PC at a time with the 3 backups waiting in the wings. Doing 4 per player works fine at the table, but is a lot of work for everyone in PbP.
(Of course, I do plan to keep this campaign going as long as all are interested.)

Arianna Moonwood |

Oh definitely!
I'm hoping to either have a talk with Tavis or Luthael. Her clan isn't a particularly religious bunch, so this whole prayer and worship thing is all new to Arianna.
@Scranford: Well, we do have a tradition to maintain with the Narg Nasty Six not actually having six members. I'd be more than happy to have ya along for the ride. :D

Scramsax |

I just read through DCC for the first time this past weekend. I was most excited about that level-0 play, indeed.

Luthael wanted to go see his parents, but please feel to start the conversation and we can slot in the timeline when we can. Look forward to the RP
cheers

Arianna Moonwood |

No worries. I've been having fun chatting with Luthael. :)

Scramsax |

Yikes, I had to do laundry by hand for 3 years while living overseas (without electricity or running water). Not fun at all. I ended up just buying whites and bleaching the living hell out of everything.

Luthael: You can indeed conduct the healing/cleansing ritual. Once per long rest. It does require a set of four ritual sun bowls and symbol stands. A minimum of four candles, incense, and one pint of silvered salt. The consumables cost 50 gold per ritual (mostly for the silvered salt which is rare to find in markets but can also be crafted.) The ritual bowls and stands would cost 200 gold (materials and labor) and would need to be crafted by a proper goldsmith. But once you have them, they can be used repeatedly.
If Gunnar takes a closer look at the stones created during the ritual, he will find they can act as +2 sling bullets that do an additional 3d6 radiant damage when used against devils, demons, or undead creatures.

Aterro, do you have Command and Find Steed prepped? I'd like to cast them into my ring for some hijinks, if Aterro would be willing.

This either bodes well or bodes poorly. Either way it does bode funny. :D

Luthael Invictusol |

Do we have any money in the party treasure? I've been particularly ignoring coin with this character, but want to buy Tavis's gear from him for 200% of the price, so we can leave for the south without shopping in town.

Gunnar Thorstein |

We did some pretty abstracted shopping for magic items last time, but I am not sure what party treasure we ended up with.
Gunnar has a couple hundred gp available if you want some of it in party treasure...the ritual equipment is quite a worthy cause.

Arianna Moonwood |

Speaking of, I realized I'd forgotten to add the gear that we'd recovered to my sheet. I've added the bow, the handy haversack, the journals and her clothes to her gear list.
I'd like to grab a shortsword, another quiver of arrows, and some armor if we have a chance to buy stuff before we leave.

My mouth waters in anticipation of the wackiness of these hijinks.
Yes, I have both of these in my current mana-quiver.

Scramsax |

Thanks, I'll write up something tomorrow.
Money, Scram has about 50 platinum in pocket change. He would be happy to buy it as a last apology for murdering someone in the house of Lu's god.
If level 1 arcane scrolls are available in town, I'd like to pick up Fog Cloud.
Charisma: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
Halfling Luck!: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Nevermind.

I'd like to pick up Fog Cloud.
"Eh? You want a frog proud? What's t'be proud about a frog?"
"What's the little man want? A hog loud? A'ight, we gots lotsa loud hogs 'round these parts."
"Nah, nah, he sez he wants a bog plowed."
"Well that'd take quite a spell t' plow a bog. Course the 'skeeters would eat'em'up before then."
I'll show myself out....

Scramsax |

That's funny/coincidental, in another game I had a sorcerer given a ring that let me alter the names of spells slightly for new effects (the rule was you could change one letter, add one letter, or drop one letter). One was 'Dog Cloud', which transformed my mastiff into an air elemental mount.

I would've assumed it would summon a swarm...of dogs.
"Um, guys? I am now surrounded by a flying cloud of the cutest chihuahuas ever. I want to run away but also pet each one."
Now I'm actually crafting that spell in my head. For up-casting it changes the size of the dogs summoned.
+1 level summons all beagles. Dex save or take 2d8 sniffing damage.
+2 levels summons all Saint Bernards. Con save or take 3d8 drool damage. But then they go get help.
+3 levels summons mastiffs. They dogs don't do anything but every round you take an unavoidable 4d8 blunt damage from your friends beating on you because you won't shut up about how you know that they're used to hunt lions.

Scramsax |

DM was the arbiter for the altered spells effect, but she took suggestions and often went with it. It was a fun item, but it would've been more fun if even one more letter was allowed to be changed.
Entertained myself with 'Ray of Sickness' becoming 'Ray of Dickness', forcing someone to watch the movie 'Waterworld'...because that is a total dick move forcing someone to watch that.

Arianna Moonwood |

Could also make it Lay of Sickness. That could be really fun depending on how your GM handles it.
Also, Arianna really did just put her foot in it, didn't she?

Luthael Invictusol |

I'm leaving on a biz trip tonight and returning late Thursday. My posting will be very limited, so bot me as necessary.
cheers

Scramsax |

Scramsax was up to something
Full disclosure, Command is an awesome/versatile 1st level spell. Find Steed is interesting to me because:
The spell uses the slot level, spell save DC, spell attack bonus, and spellcasting ability of the original caster, but is otherwise treated as if you cast the spell.
My interpretation of that is it wouldn't be Aterro's steed gifted by Thor, but something else of Scram's.

So what is next?
Does anyone have a tally of current quest options?
Ingryd and I just, almost by accident, discovered that this town could use help against incursions resulting from the current invasion going on.
And with that said....
I know that Luthael wants to destroy that evil sword, but for now I think...is it not already neutered? Even all but alone, and at his weakest, he was able to easily ignore its most fervent pleading.
Hence, I would say that, when compared to the active, current, and evil invasion scenario that is going on, destroying an artifact that currently has no power to affect anything must take a secondary priority.
Thusly, I think more lives could be saved and improved were to do nothing but tarry here and bolster the local defenses for a fortnight, than to rush off to destroy a thing that has no power over anyone.

Arianna Moonwood |

Current Quests!
1. Destroy the Evil Sun Sword
-- Location and time specific. If we miss the Winter Solstice, we have to wait a year for another chance.
-- Items we need are located in the Southlands, so once we get there, we still have work to do.
2. Break up the Slave Ring
-- Time sensitive, we still have about 4-5 days to make it to the rendezvous that the gnome slavers were heading for.
-- Would help make the area safer.
3. Parasite Hunting
-- The centaurs that were with the prisoners y'all rescued probably got infected as well. They are probably dead, but we could stop the spread.
-- This one will take a lot of time.
4. Big Trouble in Little Lingenau
-- Seems more of a back burner issue
-- Could help, but will take time.
My proposal would be to do 2 first, then 3. If we still have plenty of time to make it south on the carpet and with Arianna's shortcuts on the Shadow Roads, we could then do 4. Remember We'll need a couple of months for travel and gathering what we need for the ritual once we get there.

Gunnar Thorstein |

Agree for #2 first—best to stop the source of the slavers and their parasites, then hopefully be prepared to mop up any parasite-ridden communities we come across.
In general Gunnar has a preference for seeking out and destroying sources of evil rather than sitting around and waiting to defend (strike group as compared to defenders).

Arianna Moonwood |

I was actually thinking #4 would be more investigative than passive, but I agree with you.

![]() |

I also will agree to 2 first then 3.
Rule of Two!

Scramsax |

I suppose my choice would mean knowing a few things:
1. What was the other urgency with the Evil Sun Sword? Well it was its connection to a 'dryad's grove, a dragon, and a Light reborn'.
2. Are these the same demon parasites from Narg/Rad Tower/Mound? If not, are they somehow related?
3. Hunting out and around the Rothenian Plans with the Khazzaki would give us a better picture of what's happening maybe.
4. What is the most valuable item, or stash of items, in Lingenau.
Honestly would rather move on from here and push deeper south. Fine to go with the flow on whatever.

Luthael Invictusol |

Obviously I vote #1. Maybe I can get more votes if I tell you that’s whispering Luthael’s mind.
There’s a quote about wearing an unlicensed nuclear accelerator on his back
Cheers

Arianna Moonwood |

#2 is on the way to #1, so even if we decide to do #1 before #3, I think we should handle #2 first.

Okay, so looks like we are heading south to try and track the ghoul end of the slave trade.
Just an FYI, I'm traveling today for work and then in a leadership team retreat the next few days (Please someone just put me out of my misery now.) So I won't be posting until later tonight and likely a bit less over the next few days.
I will try to keep us moving, if you have last minute things to do in town, now is the time as I'll try to move things along soon.

Scramsax |

Sorry guys wanted to write some more during this small bit of downtime but have had bad health the last few days, feel free to move things on without further update.

You know Aterro, Ingryd was a Brewer before she went on her quest
Huh.
Y'know we should probably do something with that.
If we had anything approaching a base that we came back to, I bet we could brew some -killer- dranks.

Arianna Moonwood |

We really should see about enchanting a wagon or something.
