Don’t let my wrecking Zombie Henry with a trip-kick combo discourage you. I enjoyed the encounter. It wasn’t so much the combat that made it fun, but having to outwit the hunter while limited to my non-magic skills. When you think about it, that was really 4 or 5 rounds—and they were tense, because a wrong move could’ve gotten an NPC killed!
I almost forget to use Martial Flex! Call Out was intended as my back up plan if Henry didn’t step closer. I liked how you positioned a shooter just out of charge range (70’). It was just close enough to make me consider giving away my position with an acrobatic tumble to a closer cover position, but then I remembered Mockingbird!
I wonder if Zulu now knows what Addy did to embarrass her earlier!

Creatures with serpentine bodies (like nagas) and 4+ legs (quadrupeds, giant insects and spiders) are trip immune. That would nerf VV’s combos a bit. (She can still hit 3 times with a full attack, but a tripped enemy could get hit 6 times in a round (in addition to the trip) if she gets a full attack + AoO is provoked.

I’m still here, so as long as the game is going I’ll play solo if I have to.

Got it. Made the first save for the second hour! (both successful; >10+hour)

Nice! I’ll post later. For now I’m curious if you’re familiar with Apocalypse World and/or the ‘Powered by the Apocalypse’ engine (a sort of 2D6 system).

Vermilion Vixen |

Yes, you specifically since I believe your emphasis on narrative over statsy-rulesy stuff might makes rules-lightish systems appealing to you—
(That’s the case for me. Nothing against PF, but I often find myself misinterpreting what feats and spells actually do.)
—and I was curious if you had experience, and if so, what your impression was. I ask as I’m slowwwwly piecing together a homebrew and I think a system people actually heard of, created by designers who encourage “hacks” of their own system, is the way to go.

Vermilion Vixen |

I guess the point of rules-light is to keep rules in the background. What’s *really* different to me is that the DC is static. (Not in hacks, necessarily, but in Apocalypse World it’s always 7/10.)
My first home brews were like that, before I ever touched a (virtual) d20. I had one with a single d6 rolling “ideal”, “favorable”, “unfavorable” and “humiliating.” That was on a writer’s site though, so you basically wrote your own awesomeness or your own eff-up. And it was whoever wrote after I rolled, so it took a special kind of person to volunteer their characters to be humiliated!

That’s fine. Whenever I see a new post, I’ll advance the story on my end.
Speaking of fun, here’s my latest drawing of the Vixen.

I never thought something could make me hate school... but online schooling has finally done it... ^^;
Oh, yes! Don’t get me started!
I’m right there with my students’ opinion on the hot mess that is remote learning.

Sorry, been busy for the Holidays!
Speaking o which...
Merry Christmas!
Thanks! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

I thought I’d add a helmet to my avatar, since the helmet seems to be necessary at the moment!

My 8th-Graders wanted my help with their ELA reading assignment today. It was the short story that inspired this episode as well as the character “Grandpa Rainsford.” I had never read it before, so I was really into it. (Both for the many similarities to my in-game experience and that it’s a damn good story!)
Funny... my thought all this time was to use the water to tracklessly return to the mansion. I was pleasantly surprised to be following what Grandpa Rainsford would have advised!

Glad you’re feeling better. The fast-forward works. I’ll try posting tonight or tomorrow.

Had guests over this weekend, so I was busier than I thought. Posted!

OKAY!!! This is th last time I'm apologizing for not posting!!! I apologize for not posting more than I post! So don't let me do it anymore!!!
Well, I’m interested in keeping this story going to the end, if that works as encouragement.
On a side note, many of my Paizo games are moving in slow-mo now. I’ve been filling the void trying to create an RPG world/system, and a very kid-friendly idea sprang into my head at breakfast this morning. It stemmed from a conversation with my younger daughters. It somehow led to the imagery of a leprechaun escaping in a tiny elevator that is built into his rainbow—and that’s the premise: an entire world being rebuilt by a child’s imagination!
It will be even rules-lighter than [insert popular rules-light system here], and is somewhat inspired by the Dwane “the Rock” Johnson Jumanji movies which assign a short list of strengths and weaknesses to each player.

I’m thinking of a world once overtaken by machines, so you’re rebuilding with the aid of fairies, leprechauns, mermaids, etc. and battles are typically against machines, so you’re not forced to kill or cause pain (but can still have destructive battles).
