Thanks! So far all is well, except that I look like a freak due to the swelling, but fortunately I scheduled the surgery first Monday of school vacation so I don't need to be seen by anyone outside my family. I was told this would be the case (swelling for 3+ days), so here's hoping I pass for normal before I hop on a plane next week.

I'm a bit stuck on how to use the free time. I realize we're given free reign to help narrate the scenery, but that's considered a no-no to most GMs so I've the developed the habit not to.

I absolutely loved the NPC interactions, and am still way prouder than I should be for abusing my Lv.5 Talent to humiliate an old lady. I love getting into PC-PC interactions, but I think we've exhausted the backstory exchange. And even a fashionista needs to curb her desire to prattle on about clothing—which VV would for Rorx's sake

A part of me wants to ask Rorx if he has any spells that don't look like magic, but here's the thing—VV expects most people who say "magic's in my blood" are true casters: components, magic words, handwaves... all spells would look like magic, she expects, so it's a jerk question she wouldn't ask.

VV also has to say words and move her limbs for most spells. She has Eschew Materials, so no components. I picture her looking more like a Street Fighter character when she casts. It would look martial artsy, but typical adventurer types would be well aware she's using arcane spells like Ant Haul, Bull's Strength, etc.

(The only reason she thinks the beast won't know the difference is because he thought Mockingbird was magic. It isn't, but its effect *is* comparable to not one, but *three* spells—which is crazy, considering there's no limit on usage!)

Anyway, I do like having free time for getting-to-know-you chats or decompressing from a battle, but I feel like we've exhausted relevant small talk and knowing all the awesome prep work you've done, I think I'm ready for the next scene.

Also, while I hate to miss out on action, I'm offline from July 2-23. I was wondering if you might consider working in a party split, in which Rorx and Cashara remain together and exciting dangers happen. When I return, VV can somehow get back to the party, or Fashion Bug can find them first and guide the two groups together.

By the way, you should get a +2 STR (size bonus) for medium sized forms. I don't think you have small firms, but if you do they get +2 DEX. Your clothing wouldn't fit a small firm though, so probably a good idea if your other forms are within an inch of your default form.

Unlike VV's Alter Self, your forms are at-will, so you can remain in a +2 STR form! (You won't be able to keep that bonus if enlarged or reduced, however.)

But mine is a natural ability that only allowes me to appear as an elf or human. So it's only within a few inches

Yeah, and no time limit! So +2 STR as long as you're in the alt form!

Yeah, lady paragraph especially. I think if the group is split it's better than botting VV. I don't mind missing some action. I'd rather combat starts without me than not have combat for three weeks. (Or other action like chase, stealth, etc.)

she is a half-elf, now she looks like a full elf.
it is an alternate racial ability of half-elves that allow them to use this ability (alter self) to look human or elven.
all I really did is grow a few inches in height and made my features more elveshly graceful.

Just thought I’d check in to say hi. Hong Kong’s been a blast. One of the surprising parts of my trip is that people I haven’t seen in years (including a former student of mine and her mom!) gave me compliments on the Vixen! They saw my drawings on Facebook, and it’s not like I even brought up the topic of my artwork.

Anyway, the pleasant surprise inspired me, so here’s VV in HK... sort of. The background should be busier than that, but I was mostly experimenting with color and perspective, and lucky I had an evening to draw (and that my wife talked me into bringing the iPad). The sign is actually my Chinese name given by my wife.

Off to rural Japan tomorrow. Wish me luck driving a car with the steering wheel on the right!

I've been reading up on PbPs during downtime so I won't need to read 100+ posts when I get back.

Knowing the last GM post was about rooms suited to guests' tastes, I couldn't help but make a quickie post of VV & Fashion Bug reacting to their room. Though their reactions are subtle, click the purple words in VV's post, and you might guess I'm totally geeking out over my room tonight! I linked actual photos to the room, including the view from beyond the paper doors and a close-up of the ink painting.

The room is nothing compared to Hokkaido itself. What a place to go for a first time experience in Japan!

First Drawing of Fashion Big!

It's a work-in-progress, but VV and her diminutive friend are dodging a yet-to-be-drawn threat.

Not 100% settled on the bare midriff, and I meant to have ladybug spots on the dress. However, I am very happy with how I drew the hair for both characters.
