Go ahead on Baldhart. I don't mind comments but if it's lunch or dinner yes I have more prep time. As it is I'm waking up at 5-6 am in the morning to cook for most of the family except for his Dad. At the end of the day I'd enjoy cooking if it'd stop being such a rush that I have the next thing to do on my schedule etc. My problem is that whenever I'm on a task a 100 new things pop up on my mind that need doing and have to be done NOW!
That's why I'm less then patient when I see people lazing on the couch. Do I have the time to sit on a couch and laze? No!
(Frankly too long of doing that would bore me silly though).

Piotr Tataru |

No one is awake enough in our household for making breakfast so +1000 to you Mort. We're a cereal and coffee crew.
I agree about communication. My wife and I have had bad times due to getting angry and not talking about why. Luckily we finally talked (after yelling) and more importantly Learned.
I'll check out the game as well, I'm lost in Hafes at the moment though, so after.

華子: Hanako |

It happens… work-related stress can make it easier for arguments and failure to express appreciation. In 14 years of marriage I have not been perfect in terms of when to talk and when to keep my mouth shut.
I can relate with the being bad at Chinese. My wife can relate to the ‘lazing on the sofa.’ (I now sit at a table, not a sofa, when drawing!)

華子: Hanako |

It does not appear that the frogmage understands Hanako, but the wounds do get wider.
I basically mean that Hanako’s yelling. My damage roll is d4 + 1/2 CHA, which is the non-language dependent damage (as opposed to d6 + CHA).

GM Mort |

After every encounter it is the party's choice if they wish to heal up using wands or not - if you start indicating by your actions wanting to explore and run into another encounter without healing up first - eh..isn't my fault.

Kilarra Dimir |

I don't mind. We had plenty of time to post between discovering the wand and using it.
Hanako, triple time gives us haste, yes?
And the headband gives a temporary bonus for the first 24hrs, then it becomes permanent. So treat it like you cast half of an Eagle's Splendor on yourself. Your DCs would improve, but you wouldn't get stuff like extra spell slots.

華子: Hanako |

Oh, shoot. I didn’t realize Winter’s healing wasn’t enough.
Triple Time is +10 feet movement for the next 3 encounters. I’ll learn Haste at Lv.7 or so. (There is a Haste masterpiece, but Hanako has the wrong performances for Blazing Rondo… but I think it’s better to just cast Haste anyway.)

Piotr Tataru |

Those last two channels did wonders for Ann and Piotr, so they are not badly off, unless I got lost in hit point calculation.

GM Mort |

Winter also sees the need to conserve resources since there's a whole lot of area not cleared yet. Besides channels can be used offensively too.

GM Mort |

I just signed up for this:
https://runnerreg.com/portal/registration/hksg-ultra
Hong Kong vs Singapore twin city ultra. Basically see which country can make the most number of loops around their reservoir from 12 December 2020 to 31 December 2020. Since I'm out of a job, I plan to run a loop of 10.5km every day of the event. I don't want to be greedy since my first trail run(I do pretty decent for a 1st time trail runner actually), I actually hit Heart Rate of 193 and remained in peak for 39% of the run. Even though my mileage record states I'm capable of more, I'm not intending to push it - even a sub 1h 10k does not get me to hit the peak red zone at all. I'm normally one of those types who have ice water for blood - my heart rate usually doesn't go above 150 when I run. So I have a feeling I should acclimatise first before I attempt more then 1 loop. Each loop will take me minimum 1.5h.

華子: Hanako |

Can Hanako squeeze by Winter and Ann and leap over the rail without provoking? I assume that stairway is elevated; therefore, out of reach to the red zombie.
Edit - Gonna assume yes, or ask that I can roll acro if I’m wrong. Winter channeling didn’t provoke, but I’m not sure that normally would.

Kilarra Dimir |

Channel Energy never provokes
Gotcha, +10speed.

GM Mort |

If you didn't get that Acro right you wouldn't be able to get over the railing, Hanako.
Baldhart doesn't have precise shot so shoot into melee penalty applies.
Channeling never provokes.

華子: Hanako |

Yeah… bad roll, good bonus. I was hoping the railing would protect her from AoO, which seems to be the case.
I think I needed the +10’ movement to reach Piotr, assuming half speed when squeezing past allies. Hanako is holding the wand in her recessive hand right now, but I used my own spell for the extra 4 HP for Piotr. Unless someone gets between her and that zombie 2 squares south of her, she might need a rapier in her dominant hand… not that Hanako can actually hurt an enemy with DR5.

Piotr Tataru |

I don't think I added +2 damage from dutiful strike, just +2 attack. The +2 she had listed was from inspire courage. She did increase the d8 to a d10 damage-wise though.

GM Mort |

According to your statblock:
Melee 2 slams +5 (1d8+1)
Her strength is also listed as 12.
Ann's slam damage is listed as the following:
damage, in: 1d10 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 2 = 13
Inspire courage would give +2, but where would the other +2 come from?

Piotr Tataru |

Hmm... let's see... bringing up hero lab.
Oh. The attack changes based on what state she is in. Incorporeal is +3 whereas Ectoplasmic is +1. I never noticed that before. Crap, sorry about that. I have no idea how many times I might have gotten it wrong then.

Piotr Tataru |

Her attack is lower as well, +5 instead of +7

Kilarra Dimir |

I played a spiritualist for a short period of time. Was a huge pain in the ass. I think having two stat blocks for a phantom (one for ecto, one for incorp) would be beneficial. And I didn't even have to play with dutiful strike.

華子: Hanako |

Used up my bardic performance. I thought it might help to include that in lyrics, so characters know that whatever Hanako’s music does, the magic is waning. Nice to see Kilarra picked up on that in-character.
At this point, Hanako will heal and maybe use Biting Words for 3 up to encounters.

I cannot fathom how you can come up with so many lyrics Hanako :P

Hanako makes for a really good bard. I have neither the skill, nor the patience to do any of that.

You are singing sea shanties in another game though! And goodness writing in an accent that makes my poor eyes cross at times. So don't sell yourself short...
but yes you are doing very excellent Hanako!

Kilarra Dimir |

Thanks Piotr. I still think Hanako is definitely a better bard player.

Piotr Tataru |

I am not good at it. For bards, I have one that hums, another I would describe the song in general, one that tells stories, and the last one (a wit) insults the hell out of the bad guys, in an inspiring way. But never song lyrics. I wouldn't even know where to start.

Kilarra Dimir |

Start by using the songs in real life that you know, like me and sea shanties.
Paddy is actually the first bard I've ever played.

華子: Hanako |

That’s kind of you! Hanako is my first bard. I don’t have any real musical talent. I guess I just play her like any other character: know where her heart is and follow it.
I think to sing while people around you are stabbing and shooting, there must be something terribly wrong with you. So Hanako is supposed to be kind of psychotic. In her mind, she’s a Disney Princess. The manipulative succubi have taught her to lie (technically it’s a kitsune trait) and hate (her mother’s killers, not that the succubi really know who killed Hanako’s mother). The worst in her comes out when she casts Biting Words, so I try to make lyrics disturbing and mean. Healing songs show her worry and care. With Winter’s mentor likely dead, and her being a Pharasma cleric, the lines about death and not fearing it seemed a good fit. I was planning an A-A-A-A-B-B-B-C-C-D rhyme scheme for some reason.
I guess that’s what I do. I come up with her feeling (situational and/or connected to the type of spell), and a tune plays in my head, and I just type fast before I lose it. Rhyming is the easy part.
Some of my favorite music is lyric-heavy and weird, which helps.

Any chance you like The Decemberists? They have some sea shanty-ish tunes.

Kilarra Dimir |

I listened to some of their stuff, but I didn't find anything I really enjoyed there. Decent though

Kilarra Dimir |

Remind me next time to cast magic weapon.

華子: Hanako |

Posting in all my games: I might miss stuff between now an Monday. If my character is needed, feel free to prod me via Discord PM. (Every game I’m in has at least one person who can reach me on Discord.)
PS~ Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate it! To the rest, happy unbirthday!

GM Mort |

Happy thanksgiving (uh what is that again lol?) to everyone celebrating =P I'll take a vacation while you guys stuff yourselves ;)

Piotr Tataru |

THANKS Mort! I'm up at my in-laws breaking our quarantine but going nowhere other than the rental and their house. Between age and illness, there is a lot they need help with which is why we are here. Eating is secondary. Still stuffed myself though :)
Yard work today. :(

華子: Hanako |

The nearest dog has a cyan border—same color as Inky, the Pac-Man ghost. But nobody says cyan. It’s easier to say light blue or aqua. I went with Aquadog because he’s named after a superhero, albeit one with the lamest superpower.

Kilarra Dimir |

I've played enough Among Us to know that the character is canonically known as Cyan.
Do we really believe GM is going to let us ploink ploink from above until the dogs are dead?

Exercise is good for you =P But yeah sometimes I feel stretched rather thin since I only have one afternoon every week to visit my parents and aunt and I still have to go back to cook dinner.

Piotr Tataru |

Could you do take out on thoee nights, to give you more time with yout family. I got a hand covered in poison ivy from cleaning out their flower beds, but it helped them a lot.

GM Mort |

Why you no gloves? =( I'm all about scrapes and blisters building calluses, but getting pricked by plants seems avoidable. I wear 3/4 tights running in forest and stretch pants covering to ankle when I do rock climbing for a reason...
If I get blisters or callus formation on my palms from weight lifting/monkey bars/rock climbing, I don't give a sh*t though.
Reason why I don't want to take out is because it's one of the few times my hubbie eats at home for dinner.

Piotr Tataru |

AH, extremely good reason then :)
I did (gloves I mean), but the oil gets everywhere. Way too easy to miss a place in cleaning. Most likely I think my shoes were the problem. And my wedding ring. The worst area is around where it normally is and the insides of the two fingers next to it.

GM Mort |

If I were you I wouldn't wear your wedding ring if doing anything with hands. (Includes lifting weights, monkey bars, rock climbing and even chopping stuff up). Also sorry for the delay but I had a very big identification and lewt post to give you lot so I really needed to get to a laptop for it.
I was helping out with my runners group half marathon today. Yesterday was shopping for supplies.

Piotr Tataru |

22 years of wearing it have given me callouses where it rests. It just feels wrong to not be wearing it.

Kilarra Dimir |

I have a new lady in my life, and she's dragging me out on nature walks fairly frequently. Teaches me about berries and trees, and feeds me fruits and veggies. She's an earth child, and I an urban hermit. It's a strange mix, but good.

Piotr Tataru |

:) truly and spectacularly awesome!

Your lady has druid levels? Out of curiosity, is she vegan? Greens are good for you and I bet your lady and I would get along well =P There's a bit of nature explorer in every trail runner, but I didn't care for the snake lazing on the broadwalk. Look, if I stepped on it by mistake, I would get bitten.

Kilarra Dimir |

I think she's more of a nature Witch with the plants patron and the brew potion hex. She's not vegan, and she told me it's because of her being allergic to everything under the sun. That being said, I don't recall ever seeing her eat meat. Rather than athleticism (although she's got plenty more of that than I do), she specc'ed hard into art and creativity. She paints, draws, dances, sings, crafts, you name it.
Most dangerous creatures are hibernating right now. I'm more concerned about the terrain myself. Everything is slick with ice. I think smart me should look into crampons, a compass, and other basic nature gear.

GM Mort |

Yeah you should get stuff to help you grip on whatever surface you're walking on and crampons aren't expensive anyway. Sorry about prying, but in the name of healthy eating, are you two getting any beans/bean products? I don't really care if you're omnivores or herbivores, but you two should be getting enough proteins.
Also if you're living with a vegan, culinary wise it will take some getting used to. I noticed guys like their meats a lot. I mean I like my meats too, but I'm not picky so I'd probably be fine. I have done lacto vegetarian for 2 years from Dawn to dusk accompanying a lacto vegetarian friend for meals so I know somewhat of what I'm talking off.
