We are going to be using a modified version of the Influence system from Ultimate Combat during some of these downtime sections in Sandpoint. Days will be divided into three segments (morning, afternoon, evening), and for each segment in which nothing else is happening, we'll hold what's called a Social Round.
In a Social Round, you spend time either trying to Discover information about an NPC through a Discovery check, or trying to influence an NPC through an Influence check. You may only make one of these checks per social round, and the check represents how successful you were in either discovering information about or influencing an NPC over the course of that part of the day.
Discovery Checks - if you choose to make a Discovery check, I will provide you a list of skills you can use to try to discover information about a particular NPC. If you succeed at the check, you can learn one of the following:
* Bias - an NPC's bias either for or against particular types of people
* Strength - a method of approaching an NPC that will make it more difficult for you to influence them (these approaches should obviously be avoided)
* Weakness - a method of approaching an NPC that will make it easier to influence them
* Skill - a skill that can be used to successfully influence the particular NPC[/list]
Influence Checks - if you choose to make an Influence check, you choose a skill to use to try to Influence the NPC. You might know which skills are effective (though a successful Discovery check), or you might just guess. Each NPC takes a certain amount of successes to influence them, and successfully influencing them will bring benefits, quests, etc.
Finally, the first time you attempt a Discovery check on an NPC, you can make a Knowledge check (I will tell you which ones you can use) to gain a +4 bonus on all Discovery checks on that NPC. If you listed an NPC as one of your allies or enemies during character creation, then you gain that +4 bonus automatically.
I hope this makes sense, and I think this will be a fun, flexible, but more codified way of running interactions with the people in Sandpoint, but please let me know if you have any questions or concerns! And you should obviously still roleplay any of these interactions - I think we'll get the hang of how to weave together the story with the checks.

Not to be too presumptuous, but I think I speak for everyone in saying that I'm fine w/ Verus burning every channel/infernal healing necessary to bring Theron back up, especially so he can be involved in the RP.

Hello all - I understand you need a volunteer to fill in your ranks.
Allow me to introduce Brandor Bulwark, a LN Male Dwarf Sacred Fist Warpriest of Irori. (All of this is new for me except playing a dwarf!) The idea is to have a more religious monk, so will likely be a frontliner with touch spells and some healing.
Huzzah a warpriest this should be interesting. Nothing against Verus, but an Elder God Cultist isn't exactly somebody Aria was ever going to be comfortable with.
I'm curious to see how the influence scheme works - I'll have to think about who if anyone Aria would schmooze up to (and why). Amiko might have been her first choice but frankly free lifetime drinks sounds about all a gal could ever ask for? ;)
And just remember, "Influence" is a very loose term - perhaps you're trying to strong arm someone, trick them, or schmooze them up - but you could also genuinely want a friendship, or share a common interest, or just work together on the side. The ways to Influence someone vary based on your style and what they respond to (which can be figured out with Discovery checks!). This is mostly a reminder not to limit yourself in how you perceive what Influence means.

The influence thing looks more or less the same as, or at least very similar to, the one we've been using in the WftC game I'm in on here. Now I just gotta think of who Theron might want to influence. Hopefully his "rustic charm" will make up for his 8 CHA!
Brandor, you are around in Sandpoint right now as well, so you can go ahead and choose someone to make a Discovery or Influence check on. You just haven't met the party yet - you were fighting in a different part of town the day before.

Honestly I'm at a bit of a loss as to how I can help, since my daggers do only 1d4-1 and my glooms are sadly susceptible to what I assume is cold resistance. I could put up a flank for someone, and/or I could throw my pot (Throw Anything), though I doubt the damage would be much better. Any ideas?

You have rope and an iron pot. Tie the rope to the pot and use it as an improvised weapon. The iron pot is definitely a bludgeoning weapon and with the rope attached is a retrievable thrown weapon. :)

Just to be clear, Lucino was asking if there had been any other sites attacked within the city. He was looking for any potential connection to the tomb that was ransacked.
That said, since I used that round for a discovery check and not for furthering the investigation, presumably I might not get much in the way of an answer.
