This is the Discussion Forum for Crown of the Kobold King adventure. The scenario will be run in Adventure Mode generally following Pathfinder Society rules.

Characters will start at level 1 level and I would like for you to post your proposed Ancestrie, Class, and background before building the characters. What does your Character do to earn a living in Falcon’s Hollow? (Lumber work is common as is Crafting, hunting, farming, performing, or you may work in one of the shops.) Just the general job we will work out details. How long they have been in Falcon’s Hollow? PF2e only no 3rd-party.

Characters will be starting in Falcon’s Hollow a Lumber town founded about 134 years ago by a Taldor Lumber Consortium. It exists in the shadow of a looming volcano known as Droskar’s Crag and on the edge of the Darkmoon Vale a mist-laden forests prowled by feral beasts, ravenous monsters, and the restless souls of the dead.

Falcon’s Hollow is a fringe town of Andoran about 1500 mostly humans with a scattering of other races. The town’s motto is “Only the Desperate and the Brave. Known dangers Kobolds, uncaring leadership, undead, violent wildlife, Ancient Dwarven ruins.

I'm thinking of running a human wizard with the detective background, maybe does some work with the local authorities or works solving small mysteries for the locals.

Liberty's Edge

I'm leaning towards a bomber alchemist with the Artisan background, who spends most of their non-adventuring time making stuff for the locals. Would a ratfolk be acceptable?

ETA: if possible, can we hold off on starting for a week or so? That'd take us out of the busiest part of the GameDay and past the US election (my wife is an election judge for early voting, so I'm picking up more of the domestic stuff).

Both those choices (Including the ratfolk) would be fine. As for the starting time, I figured to allocate 2 weeks to build the characters. Hopefully, we can get started after the 9th.

Discuss character stories and town relations.

M American Nerd 3/Cleric 1

I think I might want to try an enchantress.

Human Sorcerer (Angelkin heritage) who works locally in a bar/tavern (Barkeep background). She might not even know she is a sorcerer. She just thinks she is good with people.

So far the Ancestries and Classes are fine.

For a source of spells, the known wizards in Falcon Hollow include Brickasnurd Hildrinsocks a disorganized gnome wizard who runs the Goose -n- Gander a cavernous general store. Sharvaros Vade a creepy human wizard occupies a stone tower east edge of town. The town Magistrate Vamros Harg is a Halfling sorcerer.

The Sheriff a towering half-elf named Deldrin Baleson would probably be happy to hand off any small mysteries to a budding detective.

For artisan alchemists would probably spend time at the Woodwil a workshop that serves as a haven for a clique of semi-artistic locals The owner is an outspoken half-orc artist Deveera Gadsel. There is also the Roots and Remedies a vine-covered building that smells of herbs and incense where the owner a human female herbalist dispenses potions and supplies.

The area is thick with dwarven ruins. There are stories of dwarf explora who when missing years ago. Falcon’s Hollow has few clerics but does have Lady Cirhana Gensar a human cleric of Iomedae who runs the Temple of Iomedae and does what she can to aid the townsfolk.

An enchantress barkeep. There are two main establishments for drinks: The Rouge Lady a burlesque and a gambling hall run by Kabran Bloodeye a half-orc who is missing half his nose and is an unsavory character. The other place is called the Sitting Duck a tavern favored by those looking for adventure and excitement the owner is Ergin Tock a retired female fighter. Another service place is Jak a’ Napes a ramshackle inn run by Jak Crimmy, a retired bard. She sports an easy smile and her flapjacks are legendary.

Are you planning to gain an animal companion class feature or just an animal mount?

Goat mount shouldn't be a problem (probably use riding horse stats) also a good portion of the adventure is dungeon delving.

I'm not sure what to go with right now. Looks like someone with thievery would be good. Bard or Rogue type. Give me a day to ponder.

Would we be getting society credit for this?

Ether would be fine. Play what you find enjoyable.

The game is sanctioned for PFS2 and I do plan to award chronicles. Two chronicles worth 12XP each.

What brings Champion Djalamora Vestrilavia to Falcon's Hollow?

Are you just passing through or send to answer the call?

Lady Cirthana Gensar Cleric of the Temple of Iomedae regularly makes requests from officials of her faith and aligned faiths for assistance in her quest to aid the endangered souls of Falcon’s Hollow, but the corrupting nature of this wild frontier post is far too tempting for the devotion of most initiates to survive.

I'm still working on R!Kktik's profile, but had a question: for Specialty Crafting, can I take mechanical items? He's a mechanic for the Kreeds, helping to keep the sawmills running. I took the Tunnel Rat heritage, which makes him really good at crawling into the machinery and repairing it. Bombing is, at least to start with, more of a side hustle for him.

Oddly enough there is no notable blacksmith location in town. You would surmise that most people with mechanical or metal smithing work for the Cutyard. You could work at the low market where common simple weapons and light armor are available. Other weapons and armor maybe available at the hight market but access to that market is restricted by Boss Teedum’s loyal thugs, admitting only those Thuldrin deems influential. The Woodwil workshop group could include a jewelry smith that employs helpers.

As for rumors of Dwarven throwers, you would have gathered information in game.

The book does discuss what to do if a PC wants to play a Kobold. Effectively you would be from a different Kobold clan or city kobold.

Different Clan:
Kobold-on-kobold conflict is nothing new, of course, especially in the case of non-evil kobolds who face more traditional kobold villains like those in this adventure. While the locals of Falcon’s Hollow know kobolds live in the area, the sight of an individual kobold traveling with an adventuring group isn’t likely to cause undue alarm, although such characters should expect to be greeted with wary and nervous glances at the very least.

City Kobold:
It has taken time, but over the years, you’ve managed to find a place among the citizens of Falcon’s Hollow. While many still distrust kobolds, they at least see you as a fellow villager.

How experienced are you with the Play-by-post game style games?
