I place myself in the Player-only list.

I mean, we really should wait and give the chance to the GM to come back before we plan too much.

That said, those who aren't selected for the game when/if the GM comes back could still do this idea regardless.

@Daedalus: Certainly. GM returning is by far the preferable option. Just figured that a backup plan would keep players interested and 'around'.

This is true. 8D For now, I'm just watching to see what happens.

Hey, I didn't know there was a "player only" possibility. If there is, I'm in (though I think those who GM should receive some kind of bonus).

I have a whole host of ideas for things we could do, but I still think we should give the GM a chance before getting too excited ;).

I might be interested in DMing this given all the interest (I only DM on the boards, I don't have any interest in playing as a character), I also like the Greek mythos and the gestalt scheme.

I need some time to look through the thread and get a better sense of this game.

For me, that would mean I want to be DM exclusively, not the rotating scheme I'm seeing potentially discussed here -- I wouldn't want to share the game with another DM.

Can someone PM the board member who started the thread and see if we can get a definitive answer of whether they're out? I think we have to contact the administrators if we get the game transferred to me.

I love the ancient Greece like setting idea -- what is the campaign supposed to be about, and are we wedded to Golarion as the setting? Can it be a fantasy Greece somewhere else? I was wondering if we can use material from Mythic Vistas: Olympus from Sword and Sorcery too, and thinking about narrative possibilities.

To answer your questions (to the best of my ability):

I don't think anyone here would complain about having a single DM for the game- that all started with the possible disappearance of Breath of the Gods and the fact that everyone put a bunch of time into making their characters and were hoping to get any kind of play out of them, even if that meant taking turns running the game for everyone else.

I think we're giving the original DM a few days (recruitment was supposed to close on the 9th) to poke his head back in for some kind of post (he hasn't said anything for close to two weeks now) before doing anything, but I just popped him a PM to check.

Iblydos is the Golarion-equivalent of ancient Greece, but I think the essentials of the setting are that there used to be (and still are) Cyclopean "myth-speakers," who would prophesy to promising individuals about how they might Ascend and become Mythic. However, it has since become unreliable as of late, the land is under constant threat by a great beast, and the number of Mythic Hero-Gods is rapidly dwindling.

I would be fine with a different setting (though I can't speak for others), but as far as the Canon goes, Iblydos has hardly anything written about it, so it may as well be a different world (it even has some different gods), as the only thing it shares for conflict with the rest of Golarion is the death of Aroden and the subsequent 'breaking' of prophesy.

By understanding of the future storyline is that the campaign would be following the story of a group of protectors as they defended their city from threats, became the newest group of Hero-Gods, and eventually grew in power enough to defeat the great threat the city is facing, becoming some of the mightiest heroes of all time.

I haven't finished up my character because the original GM disappeared... But I'll work on it if we have a GM again.

I would vastly prefer a single GM rather an a rotating rooster.

The main draw about Golarion for me is that it's a setting I already know fairly well. Learning a whole new pantheon and what exist in the world or not is a fairly daunting task. That said, I know very little about Iblydos. I wouldn't mind at all if you rewrote everything about it in your image.

The story presented is fairly sparse, you could write that from scratch if you want (even perhaps give us more direction than what we have already gotten)?

There will undoubtedly be more than enough players for two such games. If the original GM appears again you could just run in parallel.

Yeah, this game has produced so much interest, one could see many routes (games) ahead.
The player-only faction is big enough for a full party, let alone those who were interested in a shared-GM-experiment, or the option for BoG to return and he and Sebec split the player-base into their two games-to-come.
We'll see, but I am in a good hope, that we will see at least one greek-mythic game on this bord soon :-)

I'd certainly prefer to play in a game with a dedicated GM, but I've also been mulling a few short adventure ideas over just in case.

I would be player-only, and could handle a single or multiple GM's.

I would be interested in doing something like my Dark Sun game you can look at through my profile. I'd be stealing a bunch of stuff and mixing it with homebrew, but working with the skeleton of an adventure path.

My proposal is a legendary earth kind of setting where I'll run a mix of Second Darkness and the Rise of the Drow, re-flavored with Greek elements.

A single GM would be great, but there's certainly no reason we couldn't split into two groups, one with a single GM and one with rotating GM's.

If you like I have a simple GM idea, for a strait in and start battle, with a plot hook for the next GM to run with.

The idea is that all surviving PCs {most if not all} can then do a meet and greet, while the next GM runs with the Plot Hook

Just to develop this a bit more -- the idea would be like an amalgamation of fantasy versions of Homeric Mycenae, Periclean Athens, 300 era Sparta, and the Crete of the Theseus myths -- so several different time periods existing simultaneously with fantasy races and creatures.

So, I could use historical maps and characters and such, but also have some freedom with their depiction, etc.

The drow in this would probably be Titan worshippers.

I am interested in where this is going. o wo~ I haven't gotten to play nearly enough Greek-style stuff.

Sounds fun! And given Golarion's kitchen sink/sandbox nature, probably won't be too far off what little is presented for Iblydos.

Sounds good, thanks Sebecloki.

As things stand here, there's a week's worth of questions addressed to the DM about rulings (as one might expect with all the 3p &etc here). If you want to take over here where we left off, you might scan back for those (or else we can repost them).

Alternately, I wonder if you're best off creating your own recruitment post (either keeping the same build/submission requirements or modifying them) and with your own timeline. I suspect many folks here will follow you there.

That might be simpler than taking ownership of a recruitment thread, and it lets you decide on what you want as well. (Then we'll ask the questions that're appropriate to *that* recruitment over there.)

(It also leaves this open in case the original DM returns...though at this stage it seems there's a good chance that they don't.)

^That idea.

That idea is good.

I too agree that Sebecloki should start their own recruitment. I'm in both the Dark Sun and Scarred Lands games they run, and would absolutely be up for another, especially one set in a legendary earth type setting.

Which brings up the question(which might derail things entirely, so I apologize in advance for that), but if it's going to be either inspired by earth, or an actual variation, would we be able to play as characters from lands aside from Greece, provided they make sense?

... My only IRL group gets together 1-2 times a month to play 5e. If someone is willing to GM, I will happily play in any setting for any campaign. I like the gestalt and mythic high power-high crunch, but really, I just want to play. I've tried to play mostly within core rules in the past, so new chances to explore 3PP or to have less-than-sensical PFS rulings removed are also fun and new experiences.

Cool, waiting to see what happens.

I love some greek RP, sounds fun.
There was a Grate GURPS book all based on Greek setting and dealing with the greek gods as their Champions. I will have a dig around and see if I can find it.

I'm starting to doubt that this was an honest recruitment. Look at OP's account: 5 posts (12 including aliases).

I think the DM's intent was sincere. Breath was upfront about being new to the forums in the first interest check.

Also, if this doesn't work out, try Sebecloki. I'm in one of their games, soon to be 2, and Seb invests a lot into making characters and experiences feel awesome.

I'll check back in over the course of the new week and decide about posting a new recruitment for this -- I also have a couple of other games I'm trying to get started and I need to decide what I want to invest in. Cheers!

Just noting I'll be interested as a player for either a rotating DM or single DM campaign.

For those still interested in a rotating GM game, would you consider checking in over here please?
