To be clear - My House Rules for Hero Points:
Hero Point Mechanics:
1) One permanent Hero Point may be used to avoid a final death scenario allowing a narrow cinematic escape,
2) One temporary Hero Point may be used if you are between -1 and -9 hit points to stabilize yourself to prevent further blood loss,
3) Temporary Hero Points may be expended to power Feats. These grant a lasting bonus for a one scene or one round duration depending on the feat description,
4) One temporary Hero Point grants a character a chance to supplement their d20 roll by 1d6 and add the result (whatever it was - no re-roll) to the d20 result,
Progression system:
Level 1-10 1d6,
Level 11-20 2d6,
Level 21-?? 3d6. and
5) No more than one Hero Point may be expended per round.

Meridian Anterian |

Right. I forgot that your Hero Point system was different.
So that check is 20 + 1d6 ⇒ 20 + (6) = 26 instead.

Isn't that what girlfriends are supposed to do?

It definately is. Wifes should do the same, but alas it changes a bit and they distract you with less pleasurable things often....

You might not want the minotaur in the wind section, but alas he is there all the same...
Also I have been with my highschool sweetie for 33 years. We date every week and have PDA that makes teens sick.
It's about commitment. How much are you willing to do, how far are you willing to go. She is worth anything. Everything.
I know I am a lucky man. Also an old fashioned and older one.
Ah bein raise your hats and tip back a drink to love.
The greatest and most terrible thing about humanity.

Kana Cherryblossom |

@Frank: Yes Kana referred to B.
Do you want to describe your stealth failure there?
Otherwise i might just assume you sneezed very loudly, or farted, or something else funny i can't think of at the moment.

Frank E. |

He probably kicked a stone and started a rock slide (maybe a small one?)
@EE: I laughed so hard that I almost wasn't quiet in the library. I wish I had Summon Instrument for maximum vuvuzelas

Heh, release the horses :-)
Those you rescue can explain why I am amused by this idea :-)

Frank E. |

The kraken is just from a famous old movie xD
"Release the horses" is correct, "RELEASE THE KRAKEN!!!" is a movie quote xD

Kana Cherryblossom |

I saw that Pirates of the Carribean ;)
All the old movies and shows where releasing the horses was a thing weren't available in english back then, so i think i never actually heard the phrase in an english movie.
One more reason to rescue them!

Gauntlet of Sharn |

We used the horses as a distraction last time to try and split the enemies up. Were hoping by splitting their forces we could handle them a little easier. It was working...

Gauntlet of Sharn |

I'm pretty sure Shadow will throw up his hands and give up if you guys get captured too.
=/
Besides...the only reason we got captured is so we can join your game!
=)

Frank E. |

B. is clearly best suited for more than one reason! Sorry for the comments :D
No need to apologize, I'm having a blast xD
Though now that I think about it, it's probably best to make sure bickering between party members will be fun for everyone beforehand xD
Also it sounds like Aerin wants to go ^^
Maybe Frank will summon a Grig after all...

Electric Eye |

Where are you from, if I may ask, Kana?

Storyteller Shadow |

Yes you may. I'm from Germany.
Now let my ask, what's the reason for asking? :)
:-)
I used to work with a German guy, real nice fellow.
Always wanted to learn the language but no time, maybe when I retire!

Electric Eye |

Kana Cherryblossom wrote:My guess is that you said that English is not your native language...Yes you may. I'm from Germany.

This, and a strange hobby: to know about people's nationalities and languages. I'm the guy who'll ask you "How do you say X in German?".
I know no one cares, but as a random trivia, my father was from Daun, in Rheinland-Pfalz.

My real grandfather is German. As I did not know him I have no idea where he was from or when exactly he got here. He was a WWII vet on the US side and fought in Normandy, I suspect that some sort of stress from that Battle alone is what created his hardcore gambling addiction.

Storyteller Shadow |

Well depending on my workload then I could tutor your and run a game in German ;)
Something tells me that's a taller order than you realize, I had Spanish I four times and know about 15 words. :-)

Electric Eye |

Una cerveza, por favor!

Pink-Eye |

My grandparents survived the Holocaust and Dachau and spoke fluent German, so I grew up having to learn it to know what they were saying about me. Been there a couple of times. Love northern Germany. The dialect is a bit different in different parts of the country. Go figure.

Kana Cherryblossom |

Glad your grandparents survived!
"A bit different" is mildly said :)
I come from southwest germany and live in the northern part now.
People sometimes don't understand me or don't get what i want to say, because they don't get the nuances.
Culture is already pretty different between south and north as well^^
I believe the US is half german overall somehow, as far as i know there even was a point where it was nearly decided that the US would speak german instead of english.
So about those horses and tactics, what to do?
Really run in? Not take at least some of them out before?
I suspect we won't get out again fast enough before the rest is there.

My girlfriend also had some relatives in the camps during the War. Amazing stories from the survivors to be sure.

I guess I was just thinking that there's a lot of 10 foot walls in the way of us getting in to start taking out the bad guys. I figured the distraction was supposed to buy a few rounds with only partial engagement. Am I off base?

Electric Eye |

Ah, you see, in my mind the horses were to distract the ones outside. So we can sneak in and clear the ones inside, free the prisoners and come out to fight the rest.
The alternative was attacking the ones outside, they call for reinforcements and the ones inside come out, then we're fried.

Electric Eye |

The dialect is a bit different in different parts of the country.
Wait, doesn't that happen in every country? I think even I could tell a New England guy from a Texas one. I certainly can tell a Hamburg guy from a München one, and a Liverpool person from an East London... person? :P

If they fail to leave the EU, then they've turned themselves into a colony; taxation without representation and all that.
Is that plausibly better than slavery? Either way, I suppose that if they mess it up, we can just call them slaves instead of persons.

I thought so too. Though we could let the vuvuzela wind section attack the group outside and have the sneaky people go let the prisoners free. We have enough people that it could work xD
Speaking of sub-team names, can purple cats refer to a purple-eyed cat that I happen to be fond of?

Random knowledge of the day: Roping horses together.
Tie a rope to the bridal on on end of a formation. Loop it through the rest of the bridals. Tie the rope to the bridal on the other end of the formation. Jump on the middle horse and start riding slowly. All the horses end up trailing two by two in a natural V formation.

Fair enough, I'll need two more Stealth checks though, that'll be at least a few minutes of work and horse maneuvering to accomplish, the guards are keeping an eye on the horses, as they've seen this trick recently...
Plus those horses are going to make some noise moving about and what not.

Aerin Aurora |

Horses are noisy. That shouldn't be too strange.
I'll unhitch them all first, and if i'm spotted I'll take the ones I have tethered and spook the rest.

Undeniably, yes, it's significantly better than slavery.
The worst Brexit is still infinitely better than being someone's property.

^ this.
England in the EU is not really any different than States in the US. They aren't colonies. They have representation. There are overseeing rules they have to follow to make it all work, but for the most part they are sovereign and able to do what they want.
That's a pretty far cry from slavery.

Ok, just to clarify:
The joke on adding a question mark to "persons" when talking specifically about East London is "I have to ask because I don't know if I have to add a rhyme", referring to their Cockney dialect. Nothing further from my intention than starting a political debate about... well, about anything, really. Because I'm already served when talking about my own country's politics, let alone any other.
No real-life Londoners were damaged when making that joke (only decent sense of humour, probably).

Kana Cherryblossom |

Yeah just joking around.
UK has a ton of extra "rights" in the EU and advantages though.
I hope they loose them even if they stay.
