Still having a look at the downtime rules. They're a bit thick to read for my taste, or maybe it's because I've spent the whole weekend making a piñata for my niece's birthday.
Take your time, we'll not really delve too far into them until the group returns form this rescue mission, which will be some time most likely.
Frank E. |
@Kana: it's a secret ;p
Also, Frank is going to start hoarding cash/diamond dust soon >:3
@EE: I'd go farther than Storyteller Shadow and even specifically suggest you look at the gaining capital part and note the slightly improved way to earn gold. I doubt that you'll care for the rest of those rules in the short term ^_^
(I know I only looked at that earning capital section...)

slightly improved way to earn gold
Quite the Understatement, Frank!
edit, now with math:
If you're willing to pay 50 gp, and make the (reasonably easy) skill rolls, you can get 100 gp worth of building materials, then use that to make items at the normal 1/2 cost.
So if you want to make a 1000 price item like a cloak of resist +1, you can take ten on capital checks for 3 days and then build your cloak on the fourth day, having only spent 250 gp earning capital instead of 500 on "generic crafting gold pieces".
Electric Eye |
I see. So, basically, crafting costs a half of what it usually does, with these rules, of you have the money to invest. Isn't there anything bad in return?
Frank E. |
Time.
You'll need 2x to 6x as much time to craft because of the time spent earning magic capital. Time spent earning magic capital is less than the 500 per day garnered from craft feats (unless you can hit DC 100).
If your time to wealth ratio is high, then it's good ^_^
Electric Eye |
Ah, right. I guess I'll craft some alchemical supplies, then.

Table I Reix d’Orien, Caelan d’Orien, Gauntlet, Pink-Eye, Ama, and Viorr (with a few other PCs that dropped off early on was comprised of mainly characters that were Veterans of (or allies of) the Fire Talons brigade serving Brelish in the Last War coming together to celebrate the two year anniversary of the end of the War at the Vista View Festhall with the exception of Ama the librarian who enters the story as the action begins. At the party, Mickey P., one of the Veterans, asks the group to deliver a parcel for him to the Kelsa Spire. Between his bad leg and his drunken-ness he has no desire to get that errand done. Ama meanwhile sets out from the Library with Professor Geldem who she has assisted in uncovering a strange anomaly of missing library books.
The errand runners and Ama converge in the University District upon a bridge where the Professor is murdered by a Warforged. The errand runners attempt to apprehend the murderer successfully. The Watch arrives just as the fight ends (of course!) and the head of the Watch happens to be Sergeant Dolom who was just at the Fest Hall having been a fellow veteran of the Fire Talons. The Sergeant takes a few statements from the combatants and takes the assailant as well as the victim and his possessions (including a certain Journal) into custody.
The next morning, Mickey P informs Gauntlet that he should assemble the “group from the previous night” (minus Ama for now) as someone has contacted Mickey P to hire them for a retrieval job in Sharn. Each member finds their own invitation for various reasons and the group converges at the Golden Horn Inn in the University District to hear the offer.
Suthar d'Cannith hires the group to head into the bowels of the city to recover a Cannith family heirloom, the location of the heirloom was, as it turns out, recently uncovered by the now deceased Professor. Suthar encourages the group to enlist the librarian (Ama) in their search. Amain the meantime is given lave by her employer the head Librarian of the Sharn Free Library to go to the Watch and inspect the Professor’s Journal to ascertain why someone would want him dead.
The group finds Ama and she makes copies of the Journal in the Watch’s possession. She determines that the group will need to go to the COGS to find this artifact. Mickey P suggests the group start in the Rat Market as the folk down there may be able to point them in the right direction. The group finds a guide to assist the group in the descent to the market.
That covers the first 350 posts of the campaign.
Table II Haqueton, Rission, Dharakk, Beylinda, Taryn, and Carduus Begins at the Drunken Dragon as either heroes or acquaintances of heroes from the Bloodcrier's Hammer airship disaster rescue. A patron of the bar, Sal, derides the Civilian Award for Humanitarian Service they received and offers them coin for real work in Sharn, bodyguarding, retrieval, etc. The group agrees as all need some sort of coin (except Taryn who is present in the city to search for his Brother but Rission his cousin persuades him to assist while he begins his search).
Haqueton is approached by a mysterious Warforged who tries to enlist his aid from the Lord of Blades. He senses that this Lord is trouble and does not agree to join up.
A rowdy bar-fight brings the group a bit more close knit and by morning Sal has already found work! The employer is a woman Elaydren and the meeting is at the Broken Anvil. Turns out her full name is Lady Elaydren d'Vown of House Cannith, and she is seeking a group to retrieve a family heirloom from the COGS. The group is to go and interrogate a Warforged that tried to murder the Scholar that the Lady had hired to find the location of the heirloom and to retrieve the Journal to unlock the clues as to where the heirloom is located in the COGS. While at the Watch station the group briefly interacts with Ama but pays the interaction little mind as she appears to be working for the Head Librarian.
The group is not allowed to retrieve the Journal and what’s more the group discovers that somehow the murderer escaped from the Watch! Sergeant Dolom (there he is again!) meets with the group and assist them once they prove they are agents of House Cannith. With Ama’s assistance they find out exacrtly where the heirloom is lovated but will still need some fort of guidance to find the location as no one outside of the COFS knows where the E-213 Valve Cluster would be located.
That covers the first 360 posts of the campaign.

The Journal Description:
The small journal, measuring about 3 inches by 6 inches and 1 inch thick, has a cover of dark brown leather with strands of mithral thread woven in a strange pattern. It bears no title, just the mithral-thread icon on the front cover. Inside, every page is blank, but the sheets have a strange feel; they don't seem to be paper or leather, but something not readily identifiable.
The icon on the cover as a primitive version of the House Cannith seal, showing a stylized anvil and hammer inside a circle.

shopping list OOC means here, yeah?
20gp on 40 days of stabling for Caladrel the donkey xD
Frank already had 11 days of food and a full day of water :3
Frank E. |
@anyone who didn't update their HP meter: remember that it's been 12 days of down time, and getting a good night's rest (8 hours) removes one point of hit point damage per hit dice per night :3
Broulnindre |
good point, I should assume someone healed B too xD
(she doesn't heal naturally and would be stuck at 19/22 until receiving magical healing...)
GM the Dragon Below |
Assume everyone at full HP (except for the currently captured PCs at the Rose Quarry).

How hurt are we?

I believe Pink-Eye and Gauntlet sustained damage during the battle in the old thread. The narrative thereafter is that the group merely surrendered (whether that is how it would have played out is not relevant as far as I am concerned). So if you sustained no damage in the old thread, you have no injuries as a prisoner.
Gauntlet of Sharn |
I had not sustained any damage by the time we stopped (My DR is up to 3 pts now.) But I can't heal normally without repair or magic. Gauntlet would never had surrendered anyway. He was probably brought to below 0 hit points to disable him, then was repaired just enough to 1 HP so he could be interrogated.
Frank E. |
I dunno the weather in that place, so howbout (mostly useless) info about Frank and Broulnindre instead?
What Frank said ;)
Although i would include Frank, not sure what's going on between him and his Eidolon^^Minotaur is a nice change for once though. Kinda like it.
They're kind of fighting right now ^^

Mournlands sounds like fun and/or undead :D
GM the Dragon Below |
BY tomorrow if there are no more votes, Sul will teleport the group (insert name here) to Rhukaan Draal.
Dev Blake |
I'm ready to teleport, but to throw it back a bit:
I think the blasting crown should go to the person with the Channel ability. That sorta makes the most sense, no?

Too bad not everyone is as foolhardy as Frank xD
Edit: maybe we'll teleport close by after all ^^

...Did Kana refer to Broulnindre as Frank's fiancee? xD

I will get a post up tonight, a few of my best girls were distracting me last night instead of just letting me relax and write! I need to learn the time stop spell...

Looks like it^^
Not sure what our beloved GM means with girls...real girls or dogs or?
Frank E. |
Frank will have to talk with Kana when there's a lull in their mission xD
Time to look up perception DCs for whispers and the message spell :3
My first guess for 'best girls' would be children, my second guess would be... not dogs ;p
Although now that you've written dogs, I want to make that my 0th guess xD

First my daughter. Then my girlfriend. I only have one dog left and he's male, he's no trouble at all :-)

that "he's male" or that "he's no trouble at all"? :P

A girlfriend!? Excellent news Shadow! Last I heard you were still dealing with you divorce problems. Good to know you're heading in a better direction personally.

Table top Vampire and late players was the culprit last night. This will be the NEXT game I update today.

We have a home rule in our Vampire:TES games: if the sun starts showing, everybody loses blood points on their turns xD It works wonders to speed up stalled games.

Hey Shadow, are we open to pooling some group checks like Stealth? With 11 people in the party, the odds that someone crit fails and gives away the group are like what, 55% for any given party roll? Any opinion?
Just a thought.

I do not pool, those who would be stealthy should be stealthy, those who are not should hang back or find magic to assist. :-)
Frank E. |
I concur!
Large groups of people should have a hard time keeping themselves hidden xD
Also I think I just ruined our chances of sneaking up on anything :D

Can always use one of those hero points and reroll if you want to!
(Tho if all of us are moving together, it's probably not worth it)
