Lol, they have their own row in the quest section of the loot sheet xD
Also, does this mean -57gp per person? :(

No, I'll just deduct that from the balance of the loot when you get the final payment from Brent.
Once this scene is over we'll have some downtime and get into the next Adventure wherein the group will find the 3 new members :-)
GM the Dragon Below |
Oh good. Dev ought to do a bit of actual work now and then lest the shop get to far behind.
You can make 2 Profession (or equivalent checks) to make some coin over the next two weeks of the downtime.
Really anyone can if they wish to.
In fact, if anyone wants to do anything specific over that time period let me know here OOC and I'll give an update I/C as to its success. Nothing like steal crown jewels obviously :-)
Frank E. |
Hmmmmm....
For a small fee, Frank can help with any wondrous items you need crafted :D
That reminds me,
@GM the Dragon Below: will we be able to use the standard item crafting rules during downtime? :3
'cause I just checked, and it's only DC 10 to craft a cloak of resistance +1, or DC 15 if you're missing exactly one prereq (like Frank)
:3

Sure craft away!

During the downtime, EE will be looking for a good deal at an enchanter to enhance his weapon. He's a few coins short of the 2000 gp required, but will happily accept a job to pay for it, either a steady one or a mission (even a potential mission for later in the future).
Among other things, he might be interested in a Cloak of Resistance as well. He doesn't really have the cash though.
He is an acceptable alchemist or blacksmith.
Craft Alchemy or Blacksmith: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Craft Alchemy or Blacksmith: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
He's also a rather good scholar and a passable engineer, among other things.

I'm happy to front you the 50-ish you need if you feel like sticking around the shop and helping out, etc. Dev enjoyed your company and wouldn't mind looking for our next job together after he catches up on some work.
Electric Eye |
Deal! Plus, I don't get to sleep. That's a plus, right? ;)
Frank E. |
BTW, after double checking the craft checks for making money, Frank will happily take 10gp per day for his work xD
it sure beats 16sp average....
510 gold for a Robe of Infinite Twine or Cloak of Resistance +1, anyone? :3

Perform Sing: 1d20 + 10 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 10 + 3 = 28
Perform Sing: 1d20 + 10 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 10 + 3 = 21
Mh should make 24gp overall?
I'm interested in a cloak of protection indeed.
Frank E. |
Does Dev's shop have any need for a carpenter? xD
Either way, I'll just roll for silver pieces by the day (out of 10 work days, yeah?) after I figure out how many days Frank spends crafting wondrous items.
Also, I just remembered that elixirs are wondrous items :3
@Storyteller Shadow: how much is it per day to stay at an inn in a non-dangerous part of town? xD
Is it 5 sp/day? and maybe 5 sp/day for Caladrel the donkey? :3
looking at those rates, it's no wonder adventuring is preferable to working a day job...
Dev Blake |

Frank: Probably don't need a carpenter per se, since we're a jewelry shop, but it could be nice to have an enchanter around in case any clients were interested in spicing up some of my work with magics.
Feel welcome to hang around the shop and do your crafting here. I'll start spreading the word we've got the option to enchant our items, if you're interested.
EE: you'll be a wonderful night watchmen, I'm sure! Plus your blacksmithing might be helpful.
Upgrading my shop to Masterwork tools and rolling for the two weeks:
Craft, Jewelry: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 9 + 2 = 13
Craft, Jewelry: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 9 + 2 = 18
(15 gp over the two weeks)
Frank E. |
suddenly I want to see if there are rules for making money from the crafting feats instead of using a skill xD
Frank E. |
I just found out something much more profitable than rolling a skill for gp by the week:
Downtime
Can I spend downtime building up capital, specifically Magic capital?
and can I then spend it for crafting like it says here?
Purchases: If you would rather spend gold than attempt checks to earn other types of capital, use the values listed in the Purchased Cost column of the Capital Values table. Although you can't sell capital, you can use it for its listed Purchased Cost as payment toward any applicable downtime activity that requires you to spend gp. For example, if you are brewing a potion, you can spend 1 point of Magic toward the cost of the materials needed to make the potion as if that point were equal to 100 gp.
'cause unless a point of magic capital weighs more than two pounds, I think it's a better way to save up for crafting projects (also I think it cuts the cost to craft magic items in half again if I'm willing to spend 5 days to make 5 Magic and 1 day to craft the 5 magic into a 1000 gp item...)
@Storyteller Shadow: It feels a bit cheesy to me, but if I spent 2nd-8th days making magic capital and the 9th-10th crafting, I could craft my own efficient quiver during downtime >:3
If it's too cheesy, I'll just roll... spellcraft? to work in Dev's shop making shiny jewelry even shinier, or something xD
@Kana: go ahead and subtract 510gp from your inventory/loot and Frank will spend the first day crafting that Cloak of Resistance +1
I'll... be spending 500 of that 510 on material for the cloak and the other 10 on inn stays and donkey stabling, lol
GM the Dragon Below |
I'll dig into the Downtime stuff tomorrow give some guidance/rulings and then move the story forward I/C as well.
Frank E. |
Thank you ^_^
...also sorry for the extra research, now that I think about it ^^;;
Dev Blake |
Downtime seems fine on my readthru fwiw, except I generally like to enforce rulesets across the board, and I'm not currently running my shop per those rules (since we're just handwaiving everything, and I'm not taking profit out of it other than craft checks).
If we're serious about these rules, I can look at building out the shop in them, or we could even collectively seek resources to upgrade it at some point. If we choose not to use them, that's fine, too.
NOTE: Dev currently runs the business with his old master, who's getting up there in years anyway. See his background more details.

Uncooperative lap top folks slowed me down this weekend, by the end of the week I'll have all the downtime stuff looked through and worked through and I'll move us forward once more.
The group will be stepping OUT of Sharn for a while. This was not my original idea for this group but it's necessary to get the others into the fold!
Hold on Pink-Eye, Gauntlet, and Meridian, help is on the way :-)
Sharon Goldtree |
Sharon is busy at her Alchemical Shop...any profit she makes will right back into the bussiness...unless the GM wants to use the rules from Ultimate Campaign...
The other thing she is doing is going out to dinners and shows with the wife. I will mark off around 200gp for that...
Meridian Anterian |
Ditto
GM the Dragon Below |
By tonight I'll have an outcome on downtime, just been a bit busy this week and I know I'll need at least 60 to 990 minutes to square that all away before I move on.
I know Pink-Eye is around as he is in another 2 or 3 of my remaining games, such as they are.
GM the Dragon Below |
OK, I do like the Downtime system, seems like fairly structured rules for handling time "off" of adventuring.
Please read through the link in Frank E's post above and let me know what you want to do with your time on a day by day basis, if you rolled above already, feel free to use those rolls. As the group will be spending most of its time in Sharn this will be a good way to have the group interact with the city. Upon your return, I will delve a bit more deeply into these rules myself and start city building but now I want to focus on getting our three sidelined PCs into the group.
I will be posting in a few to move towards doing just that.
GM the Dragon Below |
Viorr, you receive the journal from Dolom over the downtime as well. Do you want to store it somewhere or keep it on your person?
Frank E. |
for those who don't want to scroll up: Downtime
Also, before our Glorious Leader Game Master changes his mind, I'm going to spend money to make magic capital and spend that magic capital to craft an Efficient Quiver xD
Skilled labor to make Magic (Spellcraft): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20 day 2
Skilled labor to make Magic (Spellcraft): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 day 3
Skilled labor to make Magic (Spellcraft): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17 day 4
Skilled labor to make Magic (Spellcraft): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14 day 5
Skilled labor to make Magic (Spellcraft): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28 day 6
Skilled labor to make Magic (Spellcraft): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 day 7
Skilled labor to make Magic (Spellcraft): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9 day 8
(I can earn 8 magic capital with those rolls I'm pretty sure, which is less than 9, so I'll keep all 8 for 400gp)
day 1 was for Kana's cloak (I took ten, 'cause I can), and day 9 and 10 were for Frank's new Efficient Quiver
Spellcraft to craft the efficient quiver (DC 19): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24

A few more items that I almost forgot:
1. Each PC gains 35 more GP for rewards from the families, AFTER Dolom's fees.
2. You discovered what that symbol was that fell out of Tavack's bag. The symbol is an old one used by a group known as the Emerald Claw. A Karrnathi underground group that acts as an international face for the Blood of Vol.

Let's make sure we handle downtime OOC! Thanks!

Anyone besides Zabeth have a channel ability? 'cause if not, then I vote that she holds on to the special blast circlet for now :3
If no one else wants to be the Steward of the Circlet (yes, that's a title I just made up), Frank isn't particularly effective in combat and doesn't have a circlet yet...
Electric Eye |
You can keep the circlet xD
I'll have a look at the downtime rules and post here accordingly.
I have to say that, once we're out of The Cogs and interacting a bit more with the city, I'm starting to get more of the feeling. I'm loving it!
Viorr |
Viorr will keep the journal on him for the moment. He's got no downtime plans.
Frank, I'm ok with you keeping the circlet.
GM, can you point me to the proper thread to go back to to re-acquaint myself wit the journal?

Jumping back into this after some prodding from Shadow. I lost the plot for a while. Between being dropped into a situation I had no information on, the large number of characters, and a very fast posting pace I was pretty confused and wasn't sure if this was the game for me.
Now that there's a new arc starting, I'm hoping things will be easier to follow. Sorry for the absence.
GM the Dragon Below |
Have plans tonight into tomorrow. Will move us forward tomorrow night. That will give those who have not chimed in a bit more time.

Table I scratched a copy of the cover of the journal while it was in custody of the Watch. On that same day, Ama head read some of it and also drew a copy of it. However, she was never its owner, its owner was Provost Geldem who was slain by a Warforged agent of the Lord of Blades. If Dolom did not hand it over to you Viorr, it would have stayed in evidence in a Watch citadel until disposed of.
The Odyssey of the Journal Part II:
In the Cluster Valve.
The Journal and the Lord of Blades.
The Professor's Murderer reveals himself.
The two Tables battle the Warforged and recover the Schema.
Ama discusses potentially claiming the Journal.
Pink-Eye responds to Ama below that.
Pink-Eye asks Mickey P. to ask for the Journal back.
To which Mickey does not respond likely more focused on the upcoming meeting with the Cannith's.
At the meeting with the Cannith's the Cannith's make no mention of the Journal at all.
The meeting ends and then Baron Merrix d'Cannith shows up & Merrix Offer for teh Schema & Merrix leaves.
Thereafter, when Table II agrees to work for Sergeant Dolom's Cousin Carduus asks for a copy of the Journal as part of the bargain. Carduus is not sure if it is worth anything but considering that the Journal held one valuable secret, perhaps it could have held more valuable secrets...
Now that MacGuffin belongs to you! ;-)
Dev Blake |
Okay, Dev was able to (via downtime) buy out the Jeweler's Shop from his old Master Demetrius, who he's keeping on as the (very well-paid) Shop Manager & Master Emeritus (the old guy deserves a chance to slow down and enjoy life a bit, I think). He's hired on a team of 3 new folks to help out, too, as they build their fledgling empire.
Everything's in a nice summary in his character page. Dev'll spend the last few days of the week getting everything up to snuff before accepting the offer to track down Gauntlet and Co.
GM the Dragon Below |
Does anyone want a run down of the Campaign so far? I know that only Viorr was around from the beginning (not including Pink-Eye and Gauntlet who the group has not met yet) and it is not something that the PCs forgot but it might help to see the whole picture as told by Viorr (at least as much as he knows!). The campaign had threads that moved about so it is tough to follow on your own without such a run down.
I could do that at some point next weekend as I have things to do tonight and this week.
Storyteller Shadow |
As I am only running 5 games now, I think I will take some time to flesh out Sharn in the coming weeks to make it fee more alive for the group. Once all of your Downtime is sorted, I will put up maps of the city and show on the map where your particular shop or home is and also try and place symbols on the map of places visited, Inns, Taverns, etc.
Frank E. |
Neat! I definitely like the sound of that ^_^
Also,
I wouldn't say no if you've got the time. No rush though.

I would definitely appreciate a rundown if you have time. As a late addition my lack of knowledge only serves to help foster the feel for Meridian, but I have to admit I am curious.

I have to check on those downtime rules, never came up for me before.

Still having a look at the downtime rules. They're a bit thick to read for my taste, or maybe it's because I've spent the whole weekend making a piñata for my niece's birthday.
