Veres - I think whatever you're most interested in playing will be helpful, because the most important thing we need is a fifth person. A fifth who is a bard or 9-level arcane caster would be a close second, and I don't have a strong preference between them. If it affects your decision, other than the very beginning of this most recent scenario, we have not had many problems with charisma-based skills - diplomacy/intimidate/bluff - so while having another high-CHA character certainly would not hurt, you probably shouldn't give that factor too much weight.

I'll weigh in and say that an arcane caster would be very much welcome in our group. I could be talked into using my gold pieces into purchasing and lending that person a wand of magic missile off of my newly-minted chronicle sheet to start off.
I would also say that we're simply interested in gaming with you. A 5th high-volume, high-roleplaying player. Excited to see what you've got planned.

            Yep. Play whatever you like.
Arcane is certainly not the only hole in our party makeup.

Well that is great to hear. I will have fun with any character I play, and I will work a new arcane character story up and send you the Herolab file. Thanks for the feedback everybody.

            Jamir's total purchases so far:
- masterwork rapier
- chain shirt
- cold iron weapon blanch
No wand yet - waiting to see what Veres decides on for her character. I will probably look for something that overlaps the bard and wizard/sorcerer spell lists so Jamir can use it himself later.

            (3) of my acid flasks, so all of them
(2) of the alchemist's fire flasks I was given by others
(1) red-colored smokestick
(1) gold piece for the guard we hired to watch Skagni's chest (rounding up as a tip for the guard)
(7) charges from a wand of Cure Light Wounds
(5gp) spring-loaded wrist sheath
(25gp) smelling salts
(35gp) light crossbow
(1gp) x10 crossbow bolts + case
(200gp) Alchemist's Lab
Total Spent: 266/509gp
Since my Craft (Alchemy) is now +10 with the lab, I'll only roll for items with a craft DC above 20.
(2) smog pellets, 20gp each
(4) acid flasks, 5pg each
(2) alchemical glues, 10gp each
(2) alchemical solvents, 10gp each
(3) shard gels, 12.5gp each
(1) liquid ice, 12gp 5sp DC25: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27 Success!
Total Spent: 396/509gp (113gp remaining)
Day Job: My result from last week was a 19 so that's 10gp, if I'm allowed to apply that +2 for the alchemist's lab it becomes a 21 and the gold doubles. For now I'll assume just the 10gp.
Does anyone have a spare wand of CLW they'd let Torvald use for the next adventure, or should I spend PP on one of my own? Craggark don't you have one I could put in my wrist sheath?

Well hello there folks. This Veres as my new character Analia. I have some long term plans for her that I hope pan out. I worked up a backstory tonight I am quite happy with that I will include in a spoiler on her profile page(I wrote it stream of thought so it still needs some editing. Please bear with me.)
I am still on vacation with the wife and it is confirmed that I will be attending a session of the Confirmation(see what I did there...I am almost sorry.) on Monday once I return. I will be free to start any game immediately after that, so just let me know what the new campaign thread is and I will be there.

So I've been thinking about wands again. Since I am planning for Jamir to take a level in bard at level 2 or 4, I would prefer to pick a spell that he will be able to use at that point, but there is a fair amount of overlap between the bard and wizard spell lists. Anything that gives a saving throw is kind of pointless, but there are a lot of utility spells available that are level 1 in both classes. I had been considering Unseen Servant, which is a source of never-ending fun ("my unseen servant opens the obviously trapped door," "my unseen servant holds my beer while I fight the tarrasque," etc.), but I recently picked up the Heroes of the Streets player companion, which has this beauty:
Speak Local Language
School divination; Level bard 1, cleric 1, inquisitor 1, ranger 1, sorcerer/wizard 1, witch 1
Components V, M/DF (a worn-out coin)DESCRIPTION:
This spell functions as tongues, except the creature touched gains only the ability to speak and understand a regional human language and the language granted must be one you know. You must select the language at the time of casting. The language can’t be a dead language.
The target speaks the language with a native accent, but the spell doesn’t impart knowledge about any culture associated with the language, nor does it change the target’s appearance.
Jamir and Jawhar do not speak skald. It has only been a minor irritant so far, but with two more northern scenarios to go in this trilogy, I can imagine it becoming an increasing problem. I am playing in another PbP at the moment that takes place in Tian Xia, and my character's inability to speak Tien leaves him frequently in the dark until one of the PCs who does have the language signs in and translates. Ten minutes per charge of fluency for anyone in the party in any language the caster (Analia or Jawhar) knows could smooth a lot of interactions. Or cast it on the NPC so they'll be able to speak and understand Common.
What do you all think? Other suggestions are still welcome, of course, but I am strongly leaning in favor of one of these two spells.

First off, I am glad you liked my backstory and I am very excited to join this merry band in the north.
Moving on to your spell choices for wands, I really like unseen servant for many reasons, including the reasons you mentioned. I had not thought of Heroes of the Streets much, but I think that speak local languages could very well come in handy.

Awesome, Analia. It seems that Craggark and you will have much to talk about.
Jamir, I'm not sure if unseen servant would be of distinct use (and worth 2PP), but the other wand seems useful. That's my two cents.

Just a question...is there anything to stop us from roleplaying a welcome or meet up scene with Analia in Trollheim in the Discussion thread before we actually get started on the next scenario?

Hey guys walk me through the steps of how to create an online campaign again... I'm drawing a total blank and the search function is useless in the message boards...sorry getting old I guess..

Up at the top of this page there's the "Online Campaigns" link, follow it to the Play-by-Post link, then after clicking on the right side there'll be a link that says "Add New Thread". You can then add the other tabs.
Maybe there's a faster way but that's how I've done it.
