Jamir will delay until Torvald has taken his turn. I think Jawhar is up next.

I have to agree with other's assessment that this module is not well designed.

It was still a very fun experience, thanks to all of you, and especially to Lucklesshero.

Thanks for keeping this moving.

As for inventory, I honestly am not sure how many splash weapons I have left now...

I want to thank all of you too it's been fun and I wish to continue with this group of characters and players. I especially want to call out Craggark for all the work he did on the inventory tracking and poring over threads when I got confused on something. In the same vein I don't want to forget Jamir who provided us with the excellent Google slide maps and tokens we work with now. Way to make a Gm's life easier!

We will wrap up this over the next few days. I think a little break is in order yes? We're moving on to the second part of this trilogy sometime in earnest after memorial day. I will most likely have the campaign intro and web pages up before that and we might even get some few roll-play post in.

I do want you guys to consider recruiting another player though. I think 3 hard and fast requirements would be in order from my perspective.

1. Must be willing to post no fewer than 1 time a day preferably 2 or more. (I think we've established this is a faster moving PbP group)
2. must have between 2-4 chronicle sheets already (1st or 2nd lv.)
3. must be willing to play at least through the third part of this series..(ie. not signing on for just one adventure and go must help us complete the trilogy)

Lastly I think you should try to recruit someone who "fills in the holes"; a character with one or more skills you guys don't currently posses and or a skill set that you don't currently have.
[i]Rogues, Bards, Skalds, Wizards,Sorcerers, Investigators ..all would make fine choices even Druids and Shamans posses skills and abilities you guys don't currently have. I don't think you need another marshal focus character...but, it's your group.

Anyway I encourage you all to lurk in the online tavern (forgot it's name off hand it has it's own thread) and just "interview" prospective candidates when you have time.

Anyway very challenging adventure, but fun hope you all had as much fun as me...I'll wrap it up over the next couple of days look for a post or 2 on Sunday with the final wrap up early next week. By next week I'd like you guys to present me with an inventory tracing sheets or equipment you bought between last adventure and this on your last chronicle sheet..and I'll sign off on them.

This is to keep your records in order for future GM's not me. If you don't care to go back and fill out stuff np from my side I trust you guys are policing yourselves ..but all GM's might not be so welcoming of missing paperwork if you ever intend to bring these characters to a table.

Lastly look for your chronicle sheets for this adventure sometime next weekend...cheers guys

YOU DID IT!!

Thanks for all of your efforts on this one, Lucklesshero - I agree with Jawhar, there were certainly points I found frustrating, but I had fun and was very glad to keep going. I think we all learned a lot about our tactics that will be useful while we are in low levels.

I noticed today that Part II in the series is written by the same author (groan!), but at least Part III is not.

A break until after Memorial Day (aside from possibly some RP posts) works well for me.

Some thoughts on recruiting a 5th player: While I agree a 5th would be useful for action economy and filling gaps, finding someone we click with who will also post on our schedules will be challenging for a low-level party. Not impossible, of course, just challenging. The alternative is gutting out one more adventure as a 1st level foursome, at which point we all level up. Jamir will take a level of bard, giving the group a 3rd potential healer, a secondary buffer, and the ability to cast Grease a few times each scenario. We will all have additional resources, more hit points, Jawhar will have more spells, Torvald will have more formulae (and Precise Bombs), and Craggark will have more of whatever it is brawlers get when they level up.

I am happy to go either way - I'm interested in what the rest of the group thinks.

Thanks again!

I like what I read of the bard's posts. It looks like a slower-paced game - any idea if she'd be interesting in playing in a faster-moving one? No harm in asking either way, of course.

And I will be on vacation with my family for the two weeks in August leading up to and during Gen on. I won't be totally offline, but won't be nearly as connected as I am most days normally.

Gentlemen, I have much love for each and every one of you. This game has seen me through a very difficult work month, and I have likely been a graceless oaf with posts in both tone and intent. I want to thank you all for putting up with my gruffness, my demands, my scheduling difficulties.

I would like to continue on with this group, if the group will have me. I don't think we can continue on with just the four of us if we do so, and would agree that a character of the Arcane nature needs join our group. I like a Bard because they could also cover some Rogue aspects that we're sadly missing as well. I agree that they would need to be a rapid poster, and not be dismayed to find 10+ posts on both the Gameplay and Discussion threads between the last time that they logged in, so interviews would be the best, I think, to find the right candidate.

Jawhar, if you've identified someone who might be available (character/player), then I'd trust you to reach out to them via private message to see if they're interested. Hopefully that character will be free when we start up the next part of this (so-far-)clunker of a trilogy.

GM, thank you for your commitment to us, even when I'm at my most Rules Lawyer-y. I'll continue to bring my A game, and hopefully my personal crap will settle down and I'll be all rainbows and unicorns and....ok, I'll simply try to settle myself.

I have no plans on going anywhere until October of this year. I'll be around and available. I've updated the Resources sheet. FYI, two of our potions of CLW (the ones that Torvald has), are not going to carry over into the next scenario, as we found them this scenario, but didn't purchase them. (That's how Pathfinder Society rolls.)

I can't decide if I want to aim my vengeance toward Ulfens from the West Coast or Asmodeans moving forward, but GM, if you could replace the name of one of the NPC combatants in the next scenario with the name 'Joshua J. Frost', I think we'd all be very happy.

Thanks y'all. I look forward to our next adventure.

The player seems to be very responsive, the pace of the game is more on the GM, I think. Not a bad pace, just slower than this one (what game isn't).

I'll reach out via PM and see.

GM, would the resolution of the encounter with the Trollheim guards prior to entering the armoury in a non-violent fashion through diplomacy count as meeting my Exchange Faction goal?

Otherwise, could I attempt to identify our gnomish merchant friend who sold me the thunderstone as a potential valuable trading partner? (DC 15 Knowledge Local check)

The first one (the Trollheim guards encounter):

"Resolve a combat encounter nonviolently through diplomacy, trickery, bribery, or a similar tactic."

The second one (the gnome merchant) - and it would be a DC 16 check:

"Identify a valuable business prospect during the course of an adventure. Doing so requires a successful Appraise, Knowledge (local), Profession (merchant), Sense Motive, Stealth check (DC = 15 + your character level)."

Your kind words mean a lot. Enjoy PaizoCon.

Guys just so you're aware we'll postpone the 2nd part of this series until Torvald is available..probably sometime after Gencon. If you have something you've been dying to play (but aren't spoiled in) let me know and I'll take a look. Obviously we'll need to recruit another player or even 2 to continue to play...I've got a season one adventure that might not be too bad for 4-5 1st lv. characters that I thought might be good for Jawhar..but I'm open to suggestions. (Citadel of Flame#1-39)

Did you already make the check on the gnome merchant? If not you can do it now. The guards certainly qualify...

I'd be happy to take the guards encounter as a Faction Goal check-off instead of making the DC 16 check, if you're ok with that.

Also, I'm going to forward a boon that I'd like to apply to this scenario. You'll see why when you get my email.

For all my fellow brethren who aren't getting full prestige points off of this encounter, I have a solution!

SURVEY LINK

Go there; fill out the survey. You then get a boon that allows you to get an extra Prestige Point when applied to a single character and a single scenario with that character when you didn't get the max prestige points for the scenario. You can get extra stuff by reading the instructions and filling out the survey many times (6). The survey and boon offer ends May 21st, I think.

You're welcome!

Wow, that is a terrific boon! I filled out the survey for six characters (no, YOU make too many characters in Hero Lab in your spare time!), so I should be able to apply the boon twice to poor, unprestigious Jamir.

Lucklesshero - with respect to the encounter with the guards, Jamir's faction card has as one of its goals "Defy local law or tradition in a way that assists you and your allies without endangering the mission or threatening innocent lives." This is the same one I checked off in Irrisen - does the whole "go in while the guards pretend not to see us in an attempt to twist the literal words of their orders" qualify?

All - I made some edits to the Party Resources slide (Jamir had not used potion of shield of faith, and the wand of,protection of evil is his, while the endure elements wand belongs to Jawhar). Also, for tracking purposes, I believe Jamir gave Torvald two flasks of acid and two of alchemist's fire, and Torvald threw all but one flask of alchemist's fire - I assume that comes back onto my sheet along with the spring-loaded wrist sheaths? I'm happy to loan those out again, just trying to check off what I expended and what I still have left.

Don't you think a bard would do it? If not, we could look for a 6th or ask Veres's player if she would be interested in playing a 9-level arcane caster instead - wizard, sorcerer, arcanist, or witch - but I would think a bard would fill the slot on her own. A bard would bring buffing that stacks with Jawhar's Bless (and applies to damage), knowledge skills, spontaneous arcane caster with a unique spell list, and another secondary healer. I'm a little concerned that adding a 6th would slow us down, but I won't be upset if I'm outvoted, either.

Yup! I'm all in for the 5th. I'd share concerns about adding a sixth and the complexity it adds, but if we find the right person...

I think leaving them as a bard would be good. They've got experience with that character.

I still think that allows Jamir to multi-class into bard or maybe even cavalier at the next level. Teamwork Feats FTW!

I agree that I'd like to try more up-to-the-minute scenarios once we work through this trilogy.

I'm keen to buy some hex nails, but I don't think I can do that until a bit more fame. Perhaps I'll save my ducats apart from a few alchemist's fire flasks...and a thunderstone.

If we do have a bard join us, Jamir may hold off multiclassing until 4th level - sticking with full BAB is good, adding Jamir's charisma bonus to his saving throws 3x/day is even better (which he gets at Swashbuckler 3). The ultimate plan involves a few levels of halfling opportunist, but that's a ways off.

Hello folks. I hope it is ok to jump in here. Thank you for thinking of me. I have played in a few other campaigns with different characters and rapid posting is something I can handle and, to be honest, would prefer.

Veres is a bard with the arcane healer archetype, meaning she will be getting channel at 2nd and replacing versatile performances for extra healing ability at level 5. She still behaves as a normal bard in other aspects, such as bardic performances like inspire courage/inspire competence, fascinate, etc...

I had planned on staying as a bard, with no dips, and being a true support character, if that fits your group. I may change her archetype before she locks things in at 2nd to fit the more skill monkey roll since you don't need the healing.

Welcome, Veres! And thanks for the intro to your character. I don't think anyone has ever suggested "we have too much healing" in a party before, but a little skill monkey couldn't hurt.

We post A LOT. 450+ posts in both Discussion and Gameplay threads for the last scenario alone. We started as a six person group one scenario before the last one, but one guy was a one-and-done, and another guy couldn't keep up with the rapid posting.

We are going through a Season 1 trilogy, and there's no help for a four person party, as we've found out the hard way. We also have no Arcane abilities anymore, so we need that as well.

A bit about us - I think we are posting from all over the globe (I'm in New Zealand) so you'll get posts all hours. A lot of us will be Conning it in the next few months, but we are super keen to get another verbose poster here. Welcome again!

After Torvald moves back from Germany this summer, the rest of us are all in the US. I believe in four different time zones.

PST in the US for me, (GMT-8). I'm able to post virtually anytime of day though as I check in often and enjoy this outlet immensely.

I thought Torvald was in Germany but I wasn't aware that he was moving back to the US. Good to know. I'm American myself, originally, as well.

Craggark is there a scenario or two you haven't played (tier 1-2) that you've been wanting too?I Would like to run a scenario this summer, while Torvald's gone, with the remainder of our core characters + Verse..give me at least three options..the older the better..

BTW guys will most likely post a wrap up and conclusion in the game thread Sunday night 5/14/17 or Monday morning..

Also get your inventory tracking sheets/chronicle sheets in order for me to sign off on before I give you your chronicle sheet you just earned. You all should have had 658gp worth of equipment/gold at the beginning of this adventure (508gp "from under the ice" and 150gp start) this does not include items bought with prestige points....

It would be easiest to include everything you bought in the coarse of this adventure and the rest period between "under the ice" and written in blood on one sheet [that's why an inventory tracking sheet may be more useful than the few space at the bottom of a chronicle sheet]. Anyway email them to me in the next few of days. Expect your chronicle sheets sometime Wednesday night my time...

I mean, I'm only gone for 3 weeks guys, even we aren't *that* fast. Still around until June 19 when the trip starts.

Hmmm .... maybe we can just start the 2 nd part and take a break for 3 weeks in the middle? I wouldn't want to bot more than a few days, so I think a scheduled break in the middle would be best. Let me know what u guys think..( I'd personally like Torvald to stay at same pace as the rest)

Sorry to have gone dark yesterday - was GMing for my Runelords home game - it was the first time we had been able to get together for about 6 weeks.

I'll get you my tracking sheets today. A little more than 658 gold once you add the day job checks, I think.

Lucklesshero, Just following up on my faction card question - I think it got lost in the string of posts yesterday.

I was tracking stuff in Hero Lab, but didn't write down every specific purchase, so I'll go back through and record everything on paper as well. Should be able to get that to you tonight or tomorrow.

I am still not positive how many of the Alchemist's Fire we gave Torvald got used in that final battle, and I don't care if I get any back or not.

However, whatever remains needs to be recorded on someone's inventory list, so Torvald please let me know if I get any back.

I only used 2 Alchemist's Fire and my own acids. Jawhar and Jamir may hash out who gets what returned to them :)
