Son of Cayden |
I don't have saving finale either. LOL!
575 |
Jeeze, hadn't really thought about, but since everyone was worried, I looked more closely...
Based on currently listed damage, if she does fireball us again...
If we assume average damage (wich would be 24 I think... so 12 on a save) and optimal placement...
Aiden is down (possibly dead)
Aquavius is down
Reggie is down (possibly dead)
Rowdie will drop when Aquavius does
Son is down if he fails the save
Candledark is down if he fails the save
Olandil the NPC is likely down.
It'll just be me and Poppo left standing... with the latter kinda busy.
Ouch.
No wonder you guys are overthinking the next round!
Son of Cayden |
@GM: Inculis 'down' means dead or dying? or just on the ground prone or something?
Aquavius |
Yeah, everyone ran into fireball formation to kill the brainslug (except the VIP, who ran up to the brain slug to avoid fireball formation...)
But I forgot about the Inspired Rage's Con bonus, so Aiden wasn't KOed (and brainslug food), so we ran forward for nothing.
6d6 averages to 21 damage, but that's not really helping here. IF I save, I'm at -11 and bleeding out. If I fail the save I die.
Not much we can do here besides hope the fireball rolls poorly for damage, or she's out of level 3 spells and can only kill one of us.
Aquavius |
Oof. Looks like she's asking for our surrender, and will torch us if we don't comply.
Aquavius would rather die than be captured, but we're out of options here.
Does anyone have some way to stall for time here, to trick her or something from not torching us?
Otherwise I think we gotta surrender and fail the mission.
Reggie Bottleberry |
So...Reggie hates this place, and this woman in particular...and is raging so he's not exactly in a thinky place.
Rowdy's going to wake up angry and go for her.
Neither one of them is particularly interested in surrender.
That being said, I'm not going to choose suicide for the whole group.
I think she might be bluffing, though.
My vote is to keep fighting, but I will go with the group's choice (especially since I have the lowest level character and, thus, the least investment in him.)
The World's Most Interesting GM |
That's a vote for possible surrender (sans last minute tricks) and two votes to press on (to a likely Pyrrhic victory--for someone). Wait. Does Rowdy get a vote?
Olandil is an investigator/pathfinder chronicler and has a few tricks except that some of them involve invisibility (though not really since he is dusted), and being able to see (which he still can't). He doesn't want to give up (for obvious reasons) but abstains from voting.
The World's Most Interesting GM |
And to be honest, everyone's still standing, and most of our thoughts on the subject have been OOC guesswork!
True, but there comes a point in the game sometimes when it is best to lay stuff out in the open so everyone can agree on a course of action. This is especially true if death is a possibility. There are several folks (particularly the lower level ones, and those at very low hp) who can't take another 24 hp scorching ray. That at least should be apparent to others in the group. The people on the receiving end of the magical attacks, particularly the casters have a sense of how powerful they are and can judge for themselves if they think they can take more.
On the other hand if you want to try passing secret messages to your fellows via bluff or what have you that's a possibility too.
Reggie Bottleberry |
Oh...and Reggie, as an Order of the Paw Cavalier has an ability that will give everyone a +2 to their Reflex saves...he can do it for Will saves, too, but only 1 choice per round.

Well, that and inspired rage would help Candledark see again at the end of his turn last round, but then he wouldn't have the focus to use his powers.
Aquavius |
Aquavius wouldn't mind death, but too many people are relying on her to keep alive. For the sake of the crew she would surrender.
Also I don't know what that lady is casting. If it's fireball a sacrifice isn't going to do much.
The World's Most Interesting GM |
Moving on to conclusion tomorrow (20-ish hours).
Son of Cayden |
Son of Cayden will not surrender.
575 |
This is all kind of exciting, to be honest!
Let the chips fall where they will, it would seem.
If it matters, if anyone did the Solstice Scar A special... the first boon on there gives you the benefit of Orc Ferocity if you get knocked into the negatives... so would give you another action at least to help yourself =)
But that might be only me with that chronicle.
Check your own, you never know what might be hiding in there!
And don't forget rerolls if you need to make that save (and have one).
Aquavius |
Well, I didn't expect that!
I might be able to rescue Poppo if he holds his breath.
Also, if I need to go underwater, I have no idea how the Raging Song works. Does my voice project loudly enough under the sea?
I heal myself, and Son of Cayden you need to heal everyone else. Because a lot of us will be staggered or unconscious once I exit.
Son of Cayden |
I'm not really sure what comes next so I recommend we hold on until the GM explains the situation fully.
Regards,
GM PDK

Some Pre-Chronicle questions:
Day Job Roll (if any) [dice=Perform (oratory) = 23 (Though may forgo this for a Faction card item)
575, are you going with the day job?
Reggie, Son, since as a group you sowed enough chaos to to propel both the Galtan Faction and the White Thistles to the same faction point total I will give you both the choice of which Liberty's Edge boon you get. You only get one so decide now between the following.
Pezzacki Gardener (Liberty’s Edge) Your actions in Pezzack shifted the balance of power in favor of the Galtans. As promised, the Liberty’s Edge faction provides you with training in Galtan methods. You may reroll an attack roll to confirm a critical hit. You must make the choice to reroll before the GM reveals whether or not the critical hit confirmed. Once you use this boon, cross it off of your Chronicle Sheet.
Pezzacki Thistle (Liberty’s Edge) Your actions in Pezzack shifted the balance of power in favor of the White Thistles. As promised, the Liberty’s Edge faction provides you with training in the White Thistle’s methods. You may use this boon to reroll a Craft, Diplomacy, or Perform check, but you must make the choice to reroll before the GM reveals whether or not the check succeeds. Once you use this boon, cross if off your Chronicle sheet.
Son, I am also noting your pre-mission purchases on the sheet as well. It was just the sailor's disguise stuff (of which you gave away your boots) correct?
Speaking of losses, besides boots there was a masterwork cold iron trident, masterwork silvered scimitar, and a masterwork composite longbow [Str +1] that Aquavius lost in the whale and a very very nice javelin with vast sentimental value that 575 lost as well. I know that Reggie likewise lost some important family sling stones, but I'm gonna leave those off--because well, it's just too devastating to contemplate.
Aquavius can recover one weapon of her choice from among those lost to the depths. I'll assume it is the javelin unless you say different.
Did anyone else have purchases (or losses) I need to make a note of?
Aiden put down a 300 gp potion for 175 gp of information did anyone want to give him change in spoons (or possibly javelins)? Reggie, because of his low level, and Aquavius, because well she's poor now and is all broken up about 575's loss need not apply, nor feel any guilt for not doing so.

I will bear the loss of my javelin with heroic stoicness... and regale others with the tale, in appropriately metered phrases, until they donate enough funds to recoup my losses out of the generosity of their inpsired hearts!
ie: will keep the day job =)

1) As per the above, I'll choose the Thistles for flavor (both boons are equally good IMO);
2) Yes: the 50gp boots are gone in exchange for the 2 copies of Amalia Wraxton's 'UNCHAIN MY HEART - SAY YOU'LL LOVE ME AGAIN!'
3) I'm going to gift Aiden my adamantine durable arrow (61gp)
Reggie Bottleberry |
Hurray! I thought for sure I was going to come back to read how I or my wolf died.
I'll take the gardener boon.
And I'd like to kick in 50 gold toward the potion that was spent.

I'm surprised Son didn't try harder to get your own personal autograph. I guess it was a case of live by the disguise die by the disguise.

Also, real life getting in the way and trying to be not overly disruptive to the rest of the group... I can go on legendary tangents.... :P

I should have everyone's chronicle up way way later tonight.
Reggie Bottleberry |
Ahem, that was worded incorrectly. I meant to say you never have a boring game!
Heh...I figured he knew what you meant...
"You never fail to not have a boring game."
And I agree. I think, if I got the correct number of negatives in there.
The World's Most Interesting GM |
And here I was going to say that I often fail to provide a boring game (when I'm eating lunch, when I'm asleep, when I'm at work, etc...).
CHRONICLES!
Make sure to double check that everything is correct and make sure you actually "download" your chronicle and not just link it to your Google Drive. Otherwise if it ever disappears from mine it yours will be gone too.
I and the thread will be around for a few days still.

One thing: Having failed to otherwise use my folio reroll, I would like to redo that Day Job Roll:
Day Job Roll Craft (Chandler): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (10) + 14 = 24 +3 = 27 if you'd permit me to add a Shadow Speaker bonus; I'm not sure whether or not it makes the cut for things that can be applied.
I sincerely regret not being able to be more involved, everyone. I tried.
At least they'll always have the Miracle of the Noodles....
Aquavius |
I'm going to type up the boon I got, here.
The chronicles look good to me.
As always, GM, it's always been a blast playing with you.
