The most prominent physical trait of Reginald (Reggie to his friends) Bottleberry are his impressive, well-groomed sideburns. Though it is generally covered up, Reggie is far less concerned about the hair on the top of his head and, when it is exposed, he invariably has a bad case of helmet hair.

He has a lean, but muscular build with obvious bowlegs from a lifetime of riding.

He has an easy smile and often a twinkle in his eyes, but is often brooding and serious, especially when it is time to get down to business.

Reggie’s ancestors have been slaves to Cheliaxian humans for generations. They began as house servants but their affinity for dogs was noticed at some point and put to good use. They originally helped handle the dogs on hunting expeditions. At some point, one of them started riding one of the dogs, since it was difficult for her to keep up with the animals.

That became a tradition with his ancestors and their masters even procured a line of wolves specifically chosen to serve as mounts for them. Eventually, their masters expanded their duties, making them guards and scouts and providing them with more and better weapons and armor as they continued to prove their loyalty.

Reggie was born and raised in this tradition and served with pride and distinction alongside his wolf mount.

That all ended one day when he and his squad were ambushed while escorting one of their masters. Several members of the guard, including one of Reggie’s cousins died while fighting off the attack.

Rather than being praised for their loyalty and bravery, the remaining halflings were berated for letting one of the man’s carriage horses die in the battle. In a fit of pique, the human killed Reggie’s mount in retribution.

Realizing that their loyalty meant nothing to their masters and that their lives meant nothing more to them than possessions, Reggie decided to flee his bondage. He managed to escape just a week later, taking a young wolf pup, the runt of the litter, with him. He knew that the puppy would likely be fed to the other halflings as being inferior and he could not stand to leave it behind.

Reggie managed to feed himself and the wolf by becoming a mercenary, having to resort to riding (shudder) ponies until the wolf cub reached adulthood.
He’d heard about the Pathfinder Society and, specifically the Liberty’s Edge Faction of the group and made his way to Absalom to offer his sword to them. Much to his delight, his first mission with them was to stop a slaver operating in the very harbor of Absalom. He was less delighted about the part where he almost drowned.

Reggie is generally a jovial, happy-go-lucky kind of fellow. He is extremely no-nonsense when it comes to battle, though and is even a little ruthless. For example, he is not at all above skewering or chopping someone who has been left flat on their back after Rowdy tripped them. Assuming they deserve to be skewered or chopped.
